Wow what a little hidden gem! We arrived Friday evening at our lake cabin at willow farm we was recommended to try the new inn which was in walking distance, we arrived and we was welcomed by Kirsty who was so friendly. There were locals in the pub but that didn’t stop Kirsty and the locals being so friendly and welcoming. We had dinner which was lovely and it was just needed after a long drive. On Sunday we decided to have a walk to the pub again for the Sunday roast wow - amazing!! And the chocolate brownie absolutely delicious!! Definitely the best village pub we have ever been to! We couldn’t recommend enough!

Another lovely lunch at the New Inn. One of our best Sundays is walking across the fields to enjoy a Sunday roast and a pint of beer. Always a warm welcome on arrival, followed by the perfect pint and a lovely lunch. Kev’s chocolate brownies for dessert with cream are essential.

After stumbling across The New Inn on a country walk, and having a superb lunch, we came back for a curry night a couple of weeks later. The food was superb, there was a variety of three different curries and the three of us had one of each. They were all fantastic, some of the best we've had, and we've eaten a lot of curries! All was freshly cooked and the rice was lovely, cooked to perfection. The staff are very friendly and the pub and its village setting are very pretty. We'll certainly be back, maybe for the meze evening in a few weeks.

Been going to this pub for years and Kevin the chef to my mind creates the best stake and ale pie this side of pie heaven wherever that is. But keep it quiet I don’t want everyone going there and eating all the pies. Kirsty the landlady make you feel very welcome. Beer is Palmers and she keeps a good selection of wines. Alway first on our list when thinking of somewhere good to eat.

What a fabulous place! We popped in for a drink ( with our noisy puppy) on the first day of our weeks holiday, the pub is a real community pub - a real place for locals - but we felt really welcomed by Kirsty, and also the local people. We had a lovely evening meal - then went back for a fantastic Sunday roast ( beef was lush!), Kev the chef makes a point to come out and meet all of the diners - regulars and all - a really nice touch, we finished our holls with the most fab steak pie and steak and chips.( sticky toffee pudding - delish! Thank you Kirsty and Kev for making us most welcome. Highly recommend. Rich, Heather and Maeve

When next in the area I made sure I booked a table to eat there, as the food looked great on my previous visit. I was not disappointed!!. Freshly prepared, beautifully cooked and presented, all courses were most enjoyable. With a fine selection of beers to compliment, this place is a real gem. We spent a week in the area, and went here twice, once before "freedom day" and once after. Each time we found the staff attentive and welcoming, nothing was a bother. We were pleased that they have kept the measures in place, meaning we felt comfortable both inside the building and in the garden. The food is excellent value for money, and considering it was very busy both times, although we had a little wait it was worth it for the standard of food that comes out.I would recommend the New Inn if you want traditional home cooked of a high standard.Only a slight negative and this is in no way the pubs fault, was kids running around all night welding sticks! Obviously the parents were too interested in their night, without much regard to anyone else in the garden..We look forward to returning on our next visit to the area

We went here twice for dinner during a short stay in the village. The first time as a couple and then as our full party of seven. The service was brisk and efficient but there is a certain lack of warmth in the overall approach and indeed the layout of the pub. The food is basic pub offerings done to a reasonable standard but certainly not exceptional in any way. We were happy to go here and eat but I would not go out of my way for the experience. on a final note, it certainly seemed as though the Covid police operate here as there was a rigid application of all Covid regulations and from an overheard comment if sounded as though there was going to be a requirement for mask wearing even after "freedom day"; this seems odd in a hospitality venue which should be seeking to encourage customers

Now I don’t live too far from this pub Infact is my local a few miles away, we love to walk and this is within walking distance. We have been on 3 different occasions and after the first 2 times which we were met with hostility I thought they are probably under pressure after pandemic etc… so I now write this review after our 3rd visit with friends. The first time, we were there for drinks in the garden along with children, we were made to feel as though we were in the way and it was an effort to serve us. The second time we went as a couple and had a great Sunday roast it was very yummy! however again we felt like a burden, in the way, and yet again wasn’t welcome. Now the third time we went with friends (who also haven’t had the best experience with this pub! They have recently moved to the area and would have loved to have made this their local/regular eating place.) it seems this publican doesn’t want to make any money….. the 3rd time we had called ahead to see if we could eat that eve, and told abruptly we couldn’t. (This wasn’t an issue, as I do understand most hospitality is struggling for staff etc.). we then went for drinks again… And yet again they made us feel so very unwelcome. I said thank you when clearing the glasses away and I had no response not even a smile!! this happened about 4 times. I have felt each time like a nuisance. Even a smile when greeted would be lovely. Im not normally one for writing reviews, however I’ve given this pub 3 chances and I’m not sure the criticism would be welcome at all!!

The pub has alot of character, the Landlady and Landlord are very friendly and welcoming. They keep pleasant wines and excellent Palmers. And now to the food. I had the Brazilian fish stew, which was amazing. Cod and prawns on rice, with a spicy sauce. We finished the week with Sunday lunch. Sunday lunch and pudding is £11. Incredible. The lunch was brilliant. Normally, the Yorkshire puddings are stone cold at other establishments, but not at the New Inn, the Yorkshire puddings are as they should be, piping hot and flavoursome. Vegetables are fresh and the beef melted in our mouths. If only more pubs were like this. This place is special

From all of the info in the pub it appears to be the hub of the village and if we are this way again we will definitely call in

Had a family dinner here yesterday evening, whilst staying in Stoke Abbott for the weekend. Delicious food, freshly cooked and excellent service from the staff. Loved our family football kick about in the pub garden too. Highly recommended!

Went to the ‘Pie and a Pint’ evening with friends. As Kirsty and Kevin have been here a number of years now they have really made this lovely pub into one of the best in West Dorset. Large car park, lovely garden, great service with quality and value. We shall definitely return.

Four of us enjoyed a few hours at the New Inn one lunchtime. Fish and chips, pie and chips, and chicken and bacon salad followed by ice cream and creme brûlée. All good food, large portions, well presented.

We spent a quiet evening at the New Inn (usually with a crowd) and it was, as ever, fabulous! Families visiting, couples, and friends enjoying a lovely evening, some in the garden, some on the bar, some in the restaurant and all made welcome by Kirsty and Kevin, who work their socks off to make everyone welcome, cook wonderful food, and make the evening special for all. Don’t know how they do it, but thank goodness, they keep doing it! Thank you so much, I hope you know how much we all appreciate it! M and A

We've eaten here a number of times including for Mother's Day and have always been impressed by the quality of food served. It's not easy finding a menu for a 16 Year old to really enjoy but the burger certainly hit the spot and filled every little space of a growing chap's endless appetite! Lovely atmosphere and always made to feel more than welcome. Will definitely be back again and recommend to others.

Myself and a girlfriend visited the New Inn as a recommendation for an evening meal and catch-up. We were welcomed and made to feel at home. We chose our drinks and chose a table to sit near the lovely fireplace with log burner. We were very well looked after and given menus, and explained that there was a dish off the menu but was offered an alternative. We were kindly offered more time to choose what we wanted and once had, we had cutlery brought and laid out.

Very good food in a cosy pub. Had excellent steak and great sticky toffee pudding. My wife had huge fish and chips with lovely home made chips. My son had the burger which he rated very highly. Good service and a nice cosy atmosphere. I rate this the best pub in bridport area at the moment

We had a week in Beaminster in March 2019 and ate twice here at lunchtime and it is a top top pub run by a lovely couple. Warm, very smart, welcoming and dog (and muddy walker) friendly. The small menu had slight changes each time with seasonal specials and varied deserts, If we lived local I would be a regular visitor for sure. For the quality then it is also outstanding value.

Fourth visit now to this beautiful village pub featuring oak beams and a roaring fire . Surprisingly busy for a local but I guess if people are willing to travel to this lovely village pub then this must be a sure sign that it is a great place all year round .

Second visit to The New Inn, this time for lunch. It's a lovely building, lively in the evenings, but still feels intimate and cosy in the dining area.

If you need a recommendation, my 99 year-old dad will send you to this pub every time. They look after him very well, along with the rest of their locals. Great food and lovely owners. The garden is one of the best in the area and you can walk for miles. Kevin and Kirsty work very hard to make the New Inn a buzzing and lively place to meet... try the quiz night for starters! Just great and long may it be there... Oh, and if you are a veggie, like me, the goats cheese salad is seriously GOOD.

Lovely pub, we went with our nieces, nephew and our dog Oscar. Sunday lunch with dessert was only £11. Food was lovely, top roasties & Yorkshire, tender beef and lovely gravy. Good choice of desserts. Staff friendly and Oscar was given a treat and dish of water. Lovely feel about the place. We were here for 2 weeks and tried somewhere different the following Sunday but it didn't come near to the New Inn. Would highly recommend.

I spent the day dancing at Stoke Abbott fair, which was lovely. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the Pub! I stepped into the bar to buy a drink and was ignored for 10minites while the landlady served her regulars that she knew by name. When I was served she was sharp and unfriendly , not making me feel welcome at all! To top it all off I was charged £2.60 for a small bottle of coke...straw came for free! The whole experience has left a bad taste In my mouth ....

A small hidden Cafe hidden down a side alleyway, delivers a big smile through it's food and warm welcoming hosts. They make delicious salads, homemade crustless quiche, large saucer style macaroons, homemade sausage rolls and vege rolls. It's the only place in Dorchester that i feel the food is good for you, cooked on the spot there that day, great coffee and choice of tea's etc. Seating is limited and very sadly due to it's size of premises maybe closed due to Covid, please double check. They have worked so hard and deserve all our support

It had been too long since we ate here. We had a great meal, shared a starter and a pudding as one of had steak and the other the carvery for main course. All very tasty and well presented. It was busy but the staff were there when we needed them. Thoroughly recommend The Sun for a good meal.
