This is a traditional pub that seems very popular. It has its own brewery on site that you can visit for £11 pp including tasting. We just had lunch. There’s an extensive menu of typical pub fare as well as some more interesting dishes. The rare beef sandwich on very fresh brown bread was very well filled and was served with chunky chips. The ciabatta toasties were very satisfying too. The person who ordered duck pâté as a lighter meal found that there was enough pâté to warrant more than a couple of small pieces of bread and when more was requested it was provided. Everyone’s side salad was a bit sad as the mixed leaves were past their best.

We stayed for a night on the Brewery Red Letter Day package but added an extra 2 days stay. A very friendly Pub with excellent staff. The building is old and the rooms have been imaginatively squeezed in. They are not large but have everything you need. The room could do with a bit of TLC a lick of paint and a few cracks filled but it was warm, clean and comfortable. The meals were good and well presented and the drinks were varied as you would expect having its own brewery attached! Breakfast was quicly served and set you up for a day walking the moors/forests or coast!

Came here on a recommendation with my partner and 7 month old and immediately got the impression we were a nuisance. Got seated in an area around the corner from the main bar, no high chair offered for our child so had to sort that out ourselves and no menus brought over either. I went to the bar and got some menus and decided it wasn’t for us, first impressions and all that…. I think I’ve been to library’s with better atmospheres as well.

Booked my husband, a brewery tour for Christmas and visited yesterday. The tour was fantastic. Very informative and fun. Josh, the tour guide, obviously loves his job and knows his stuff! We enjoyed a two course meal in the pub afterwards, and the food was out of this world - so fresh and delicious. We’ll definitely come again, especially in the summertime as the beer garden looked too nice not to try!

The New Inn is also the home of the Cropton Brewery. Not surprising that the beer is excellent! Also, a very warm welcome on a snowy day. Lovely traditional cosy pub with an open fire. Ideal after a long walk with the dogs.

Just did the brewery tour & meal package & was not disappointed. We were the only ones on the brewery tour so it made it more personal, Lee the tour guide was very knowledgeable, cheerful, funny & should definitely get a pay rise. The beer was fantastic & the food was unbelievable, as good as, if not better than a lot of top restaurants. A wonderful little gem of a country pub. If you want great food, great beer, great service & a lovely atmosphere stop off here you won't be disappointed.

We booked a table for a meal. On arrival was met by being told where our table was, given menus and told to order at the bar. After an hour of ordering our food arrived, firstly being taken to the wrong table. On telling the waitress she put in down on the bar and said i will be back in a minute. The food was very good and couldn't fault it. The staff however didn't have a clue apart from one kept saying we are so busy. From our observation if you were staying in a room you got preferential treatment. Sadly we didn't feel welcome enough to go back. Staff unwelcoming and had no clue what they were doing.

Our stay was 3 nights with breakfast included.Obviously this Inn is old but the cleanliness of our room was grubby, dusty, cobwebs and just not what it should be.Toilet basic leaked from the bottle waste so reported that immediately, hot water scalded us.Breakfasts and main meals were quite good.Main issue was poor condition and cleanliesd of bathroom and bedroom and easy to hear everything from adjacent rooms!

The problem began with our arrival. We are 3 adults in our mid-60s and we had already climbed one set of steps to access the bar in the pub. We were escorted to our room up two more flights of narrow stairs. On entering our room, we could smell the damp in the room and discovered mould on walls behind furniture and in the corners of the window frames. We checked the prices of the evening meals on offer and there wasn't enough variety for our party and they were quite expensive. So we decided to eat out. I asked what time the pub closed and was told, when the last customer leaves. I thought that was a bit vague so I said that we would be back at 10-ish. We arrived back just after 10pm to find all entrances to the pub were fully locked up and we were unable to get in. I called the pub and, after a while, my call went to voicemail with a message that there was no one to answer my call. I left a voicemail, this was followed by another message to say that there was no one to respond to my voicemail! My party had got back into the car as it was raining and I drove to the front of the pub and sounded my horn for some time then drove to the back of the pub. At this point, a man appeared saying he had a message to come and let us in so, finally, we got in to the pub to access our room. We had an uncomfortable night but managed to get up for the early breakfast (great breakfast!) and check-out. We raised all the damp and mould issues with the man who had let us in and, as one of us was asthmatic, told him that we would be leaving a poor review of the room and that they shouldn't book that room out to any one else until the issues were resolved.

We arrived and walked into the pub.. there wasn't any sort of reception area.. the lady serving showed us our room. The room smelt damp.we went out for dinner said we would be back 10ish pm, we got back at 10.08pm. It was raining. We tried to get in everywhere was locked up.. we were getting wet and cold, we honked the car horn and rang the door bell.. nothing, so we phoned the property. No one answered it went to an answer machine,we sat back in the car , we were soaked and stuck outside..no way to get in.. Eventually a man walked from the bottom field and asked if we were the residents stuck outside? Apparently his manager had rang him to go have a look, he made it clear to us that he wasn't suppose to be working till Monday but he has had to come up to let us in... he let us in and locked up and off he went. My brother realised then he had left his phone in the car so went to get it but we were locked in. The fact that we were now locked in was very concerning as to fire and safety regulations, hoe would you get out in the situation.. but anyway atleast we were indoors and vould go to bed albeit that the room smelt so strongly of damp, but we had no choice, we were out in the middle of nowhere , which we thought would be a nice place to stay, but unfortunately not.... we had 3 flights of stairs to our room..a damp room, and no access after 10pm although we had said what time we were returning..we would have eaten there if the meals had been reasonably priced. Really not the best place to stay..

On that basis we decided to try it one evening. We arrived around 8.30pm for dinner (didn't occur to us that this was late!). We walked in and stood by bar wondering where we had to go for food. Waited around 5/10 minutes and received no acknowledgement (or eye contact even) from lady behind bar. I eventually decided to go for a wander and went upstairs as I had noticed a sign for the restaurant. I could see people were in there eating. A waitress appeared and I politely asked if it was ok to order some food. "We've stopped serving...as of now" was her curt reply. "Oh" I replied so I walked back to my partner and children and said "right..we're going". Felt if we had been locals we'd have received a nicer response? It was a shame for them as we then found another establishment and spent a fair bit and had a lovely evening. I think if we had had an apology or information regarding serving times we may have gone back. But as we didn't...

Have to say the New Inn was very busy too but the lovely lady behind the bar was so nice and helpful, we could bring the dog in and get some food, no problem. Had two pints of local Cider, ordered food, Cajun Chicken burger each and were told it might be a 45 minute wait, we didn't mind waiting and were pleasantly surprised when the food arrived within half an hour, very nice and plenty of it, a very well run pub, staff efficient and friendly. Great place to eat.

Went for an evening meal unfortunately I was driving so had very limited taste of beers but bought some to try later. The meal was good standard pub fare at reasonable prices and very friendly staff

Had dinner here and it topped out chart for pub food. Sadly couldnt taste the pie as all 120 had been served so went for Pear & Yorkshire Blue Cheese salad, followed by the Sirloin Steak special and ending with Vanilla Pannacotta with fresh rhubard and topped with ginger crumb - awesome. The service was as friendly as it could possibly have been.

This is a lovely friendly pub, all their own beers are served, which are brewed in their own brewery.

We were travelling to the Forest Holiday site in Cropton and stopped off for lunch in this very old worldly pub.The food was very acceptable from Yorkshire Wraps (A take on wraps only made with Yorkshire Pudding filled with roast beef)to a Smoked Salmon sandwich all washed down with the beer and cider made in the on site brewery. What could be better with excellent Yorkshire hospitality

We dined here on a Thursday night we didn't book but there was a large family room we asked to be able to go into, only to be given a frosty almost sarcastic reply by the waitress that she can't be in 3 places at once and it wasn't open. When I apologised that we hadn't been there before she then led us to the dining room which is not easily found if you hadn't been before. The food was nice but when she took our order everything was such an effort. I asked for a side of veg at which I was barked at again that it was included in meal. However the small portion to serve 3 of us was heavy on the cauliflower and not really enough to make my small shepherds pie main course filling so was disappointed with this. We ordered desert but my son really wanted strawberry ice cream but we were told flatly that the kids got vanilla no customer service to offer alternative at all. Such a shame as we had high hopes. Won't be returning again anytime soon...

Lovely restaurant- very busy - the apple and crumble was to die for and the mussels were amazing. On the Saturday there were a few dishes that had run out which I found a little disappointing as it's not a big menu so some people may have struggled. Both nights we cleared our plates and it is reasonably priced

Had an evening meal on a Saturday night to celebrate a friends birthday. As the pub is part of a micro brewery, if you like your beer, then you will love trying the beers brewed on site.We all thought the menu was very nice - full of pub classics and not too fussy. The waitress and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub and restaurant are quite rustic. Tables in the restaurant are very close together. This may not be to everyone's liking. It worked for us as we seemed to eat later than everyone else and found ourselves in the restaurant on our own at only 8-9:30pm.Everyone really enjoyed their starters - beautiful large mussels, tasty pate and some else was very complimentary about the fish cake. For mains, we mainly all had steak (of different varieties). I had feathered steak and unfortunately did not enjoy that particular cut of beef. However, everyone else cleaned their plates and enjoyed the hand cut chips. You definitely need to order a side dish with the steak as it was not enough with just the chips.Unfortunately the deserts did not live up to the menu. Most of us were disappointed with our desserts. Three of us out of five left our deserts as they just did not live up to the description on the menu.Overall, it was a pleasant enough meal. Must admit I wanted to rate it Good rather than Very Good but trip advisor doesn't give you the option. It was certainly not Average though. I wouldn't go again as I would want to try other establishments if I was to visit the area again.

This is one of my favourite places to go. Good beer, confident polite staff, great beer and the Sunday lunch is to die for, and what's more dogs are allowed in the bar. Heaven!

Visited here whilst staying in nearby lodges. Good food, with an even better choice of beers and ciders. Friendly, informal style of serving. Will visit again. Make sure to try the Yorkshire cider!

I've already put a much longer review up for The New Inn. It really is a lovely place with a great "feel", welcoming staff and (we had a meal there) awesome food. The menu is not vast, but everything on it is really good.

A great place to chill, enjoying excellent company, food and surroundings. Our room (6) had lovely views of the garden and beyond - and was quiet. Easy, safe parking. Village has no shops and no public transport (sorry 1 bus /week).

We tried The New Inn on the off chance we could get a meal here as most places in the area were either not serving or had to be pre-booked. They managed to squeeze us in thankfully and we did not mind the bit of a wait for a table. The meals were all well worth the wait, Staff were great considering how rushed off their feet they were. They have their on brewery on site and can do tours. We would go there again if in the area.

My partner and I have been to this little place many times to eat and have NEVER been disappointed. Delicious food and everybody makes you feel so at home and part of the local community.

We had an excellent meal at the New Inn. Its menu is typical pub grub cooked to a high standard. A brewery is attached and its beer is outstanding. Shame about the service.. it took nearly an hour for us to be served. So if you go there we advise that you check the waiting time before ordering as we were not warned about the delay.

This is a lovely place but let down by how chaotic it was . I got two scones and two coffees took the scones to our table and was told the drinks would be brought across, The scones were hard ( certainly not fresh ) I had trouble biting mine I had to cut it up to eat it , it was dry , I also noticed someone took a scone back I heard the girl say it must of got mixed up with the fresh ones , ours must have been last weeks ,It was 15 minutes before we got our drinks I noticed several tables hadn't got theres either , people were going to the counter to complain by this time . Just needs a bit more organising, who wants to eat a scone without a drink !!!..on the other hand we will go again to try the Gardeners lunch which looked delicious
