The food and drinks are excellent, staff are friendly and welcoming. Everything you could want in an English country pub. Mark and his staff, particularly the Abbys made our stay in Kilmington memorable. Thank you.

Had Meals in here 3 times out of our weeks stay in the area,did not disappoint at any level fully recommend to anybody wanting a good home cooked eat in a lovely Country pub.

We stayed over for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend. Luckily for us it was a last minute cancellation as our original booking elsewhere had closed down and we didn’t find out until the night before looking on this site, no notification from booking site or premises owner!! Anyway we had a great stay here. We had a very large room with a wardrobe, dressing table a super king bed and a double sofa bed. The room was very modern and super comfy beds. We had complimentary tea, coffee etc and shower gel/ shampoo in the bathroom. Free WiFi was available and a smart TV. Breakfast was lovely we got onto chose a time to suit and got exactly what we wanted. We had a couple of evening meals here I recommend the burgers. The hosts were very welcoming and the area is lovely approx about a 10 mins drive from the beach.

Booked for an early dinner on the way back to our holiday park. Was just expecting average pub grub but was really impressed. Menu had a surprisingly good range, all a very generous size and the fish and chips was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The kids meals were generous, quality food and had a colourful salad (kids meals are so often beige!) Desserts also went down well! Good service as well and fantastic value for money

Me and my 16 year old daughter had a friendly welcome from bar staff. We had a different main each and different desserts, both were lovely. Thank you

Fabulous pub, inside and out; welcoming, attractive and very clean. Really lovely, friendly staff. Food was out of this world - excellent quality and presentation, beautifully cooked and served. Excellent in every way.

Stayed here for 1 night whilst walking the Tamara trail. Warm welcome as we checked into our lovely room (Pearce) with its own little private roof terrace. Comfy super king bed and sofa in the room. Beautiful shower room with large enclosure and plenty of hot water. We had a delicious dinner downstairs then drank in the bar watching the England/Switzerland match. Great cooked breakfast the next day before heading off to Duckpool on the coast.

Lovely pub. We didn't book but they accommodated us. We had the steak and kidney pie, sausage and mash, beef curry and gammon egg and chips. All delicious. The curry didn't taste particularly like curry and has no spice so if you're looking for a curry with a kick it's not for you. However it was delicious. Clean plates all round and would go again. Would recommend to anyone wanting a good quality good sized meal

Excellent food, proper portions at a reasonable price. Highly recommend a visit, the menu had a really good selection, also a good selection of local beers and lagers. Service was good, friendly staff

We were on a short break with our teenage granddaughter, people are so welcoming and really lovely, food was great, good hearty pub Faye , we come from Essex and are used to gastro pubs so it was wonderful to have proper beautifully cooked pub grub! It was a super evening thank you

We were staying at Pentire campsite and wanted an evening meal. We walked (but on the main road but quickly got to paths) took about 15-20 minutes From the outside looks small but is a tardis and goes way back. There was a skittles match at the back going on, from bar was mainly locals and drinks and in the middle loots of tables with couples, families, friends etc I had vegan burger with chips & salad which was delicious but a little pricey esp as the coleslaw wasn’t vegan (maybe something to think about?) partner had fish and chips which looked lovely and fresh with a light clean batter. Would definitely recommend this pub - bar stayed were helpful & friendly and we had a lovely evening

Great place for a family get together. Staff brilliant and engaging. Food excellent and great atmosphere. Easy to sort a large family gathering from the Midlands. Ages 7 to over 70. Menu good enough for all tastes

We stopped here for a quick lunch on the way to Woodford Bridge. So glad we did! The oldy worldy atmosphere was as welcoming as the staff. We only wanted a light lunch so opted for starters with a side of chips. The white bait was fresh and crispy with a generous salad on the side. Some of the best chips I've had in a long time. Saved to my favourites - this will definitely become a regular stop on trips to Devon and Cornwall.

We visited The new inn on a rainy Thursday night, the pub was warm and welcoming with a darts team and skittles being played in the lower bar. We ordered the Cajun chicken and beef curry both of which were excellent, good value for money and very generous portions! All the staff are welcoming and efficient and the landlord Chris has a wealth of knowledge to share on local beverages and things to do in the area extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Popped in here whilst stopping in Bude .. lovely place .. I had the pork burger which was unreal my partner had the pie all homemade really delicious.. gentleman behind the bar extremely friendly and very helpful.. showed us local places too visit obviously being from Newcastle not knowing the area .. went to where he recommended both places were breath taking .. would highly recommended this place

One of the best meals we've had we visit on a regular basis, the choice of food is very good, with plenty of specials which change on a regular basis I would recommend this pub to anyone who enjoys good atmosphere, friendly staff and good food

Amazing food!! We were a party of 13 and ALL of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. To the extent that I am writing this review after eating a wonderful pudding.

Came to stay for 3 nights and ended up staying for 4. The room was spectacular, I have never seen such cleanliness before, There standards are phenomenal which is fantastic to see. Breakfast was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and there evening meals, just simply fantastic. The staff are very friendly, even when there busy they still find time to have a chat with you and check your okay. Thankyou all at the new inn, will definitely be back. Yvonne and Chris are just wonderful . A beautiful family run pub with lovely accommodation and best home cooked food we've tasted.

Took a party of 12 for lunch . We preordered an hour before arrival . The menu was varied with a good choice . Food was delicious , staff friendly and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble. Will happily go back when next n the area.

Amazing food! Excellent standard, piping hot food that was clearly cooked to order. Service was amazing and staff were so kind to not even flinch at our child’s meltdown. Very well priced for large fresh delicious food

Had a lovely meal here whilst on holiday in Bude. Fitted us in last minute when we decided we didn’t want to cook. Food was freshly cooked, traditional pub grub and were decent portions too. Considering there were nine of us we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. Had the feel of a local village pub but still very welcoming to visitors from outside the area.

We had an early dinner here on a Friday in August 2022. We had the pork burger, a thai turkey curry and a child's cheese pizza, followed by chocolate mousse cake and rhubarb fool. The burger was very good. The curry was nothing special and just tasted like generic curry powder. Both desserts were very good.

We booked “ last minute” and the way our call was received was positive from the outset. We were advised it was a set Sunday lunch menu - which we were happy with - so 4 adults and 2 children arrived at the relevant time - our table was ready and we proceeded to order without delay. Good range of drinks ( 2 really good ales) available. Food came promptly - a good sized Sunday roast - and we all enjoyed this fully. Would have no hesitation in recommending for food/drinks- and in my view excellent meal and great value.

We visited the New Inn again 3 times over the Easter weekend. We received a warm welcome on each occasion. We tried the home made Steak and Kidney pie, Indian lamb burger, Pig fest burger, fish and chips and Hot smoked fillet of hake. The food was all excellent, hearty portions and of good quality. Staff were friendly and efficient. Lovely atmosphere, will definitely be back again. Highly recommend.

We visited the New Inn for lunch with our 18 month old. The Barman/Landlord(?) was great, making a special effort to accommodate us providing children’s cutlery and bringing out the children’s meal as soon as it was ready. The portion sizes were very generous and we all really enjoyed what we each had to eat.

Lovely meal. My black bream was perfectly cooked with a large side of chips, salad, coleslaw. My husband’s gammon was succulent and large with accompanying chips peas, mushrooms, tomato. The person I spoke to on the phone when I booked was very helpful about accommodating gluten free for me, as was the lady taking the order. Nice atmosphere. Clean. Weill come back if in the area again.

I booked 12 members of our MG car club in for Sunday lunch today and I must say it was a great all round experience! On this cold, windy day the pub was warm and cosy with a great atmosphere! The staff were all welcoming and nothing was too much trouble! The lunch itself was excellent and everyone said it was the best they had had in a long while, several saying that they would definitely be going back!Thank you so much the New Inn!

Lovely Pub Lunch on a cold and miserable day, sat next to the open fire. Good food and a warm welcome, what more can you want on the first day of December.

All menu very good and varied, local produce (Sunday lunch gives details of local farm and the animals. Would highly recommend the cod which is especially good best in the area by far.

Called in as we were passing first thing was the warm welcome lovely landlady made you feel instantly at home . Good menu at a very affordable price and boy what portions i had Cajun chicken stunning my wife had a cheese burger enjoyed it greatly the menu also had some great specials for fish lovers . The bar has a lovley warm and friendly feel and nothing was too much trouble if you are in area give it a go you won't be disappointed

Visited here on our 2nd night in Bude having been disappointed to find a lot of restaurants closed.Made sure we booked and although busy there were a few empty tables.We were able to order drinks by text which was useful and the service was very efficient. We ordered food via the waitress , burgers and spicy chicken dishes. All very nice and very good potion sizes.Very good value for money.

We ate here on the last night of our holiday in Bude and was very impressed. Curried pumpkin soup was absolutely delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly, portions were large so definitely made it well worth the price.

We recently stayed in a cottage in Kilkhampton and this pub was recommended. Busy but well organised, lots of space and choices on the menu. Lovely sirloin steak and skate were stand out dishes and the portion sizes left no room for pudding!

Saw this pub as we drove past to our campsite.. Looked lovely and quaint so decided to pop in for a bite to eat. We were given a warm welcome by a lovely lady. Absolutely loved how authentic it is to the period it was built. Service was very quick, food delicious with generous portions and reasonably priced. A perfect find and would highly recommend. Tried to book a table for two yesterday. I was met by a very rude and smug woman. Saying that this restaurant was booked up to the weekend. The way it was presented there is no way I would book a table there. If that is the way you treat your customers before you go. Just how must they treat you after they take your money. Sorry I like polite people with no attitude. The food reviews looked good. But the staff is another matter. I have been to loads of restaurants in this area. This is the only one that has attitude and rudeness.

There was lovely food at the new inn but the interior was a bit dated which wasn’t the best atmosphere. There was pay by phone but the windows weren’t open and it felt a little confined. However the menu was good and the food was excellent.

We had the most beautiful meal here when the weather outside was dreadful! Service was well thought out and we were all well spaced (due to Covid measures). Seafood was gorgeous and the steak my husband had looked gorgeous (I’m pescatarian so didn’t try it). Nothing was left on the plates which is always a good sign! Would definitely recommend.

We visited this pub a few months ago and have never encountered such an unfriendly welcome. We requested a table to have some drinks to be told that none were available. The lady then changed her mind and said there was one despite the fact that several were empty and remained empty during our 30 minute stay. On our way to the table I picked up a paper menu explaining I was planning to eat there that week, only for the hostess to berate me as she said she couldn't use that menu again now and it was a waste of time looking at it anyway as it changed daily. Upon trying to book a table for seven in the evening for any of the next three nights she told me that the only time she could do was six. Fortunately we didn't book.I remained polite during the whole of the visit, I fail to understand why a person with such an unhelpful attitude works in hospitality. I subsequently read other reviews that indicated the pub only wants local trade and not that of holiday makers, we are not local so maybe this is why. I must say that this experience was not typical of other pubs and restuarants in the area where we encountered much more friendlier welcomes and people. In short do not waste your money in this pub and avoid at all costs.

Excellent food and friendly service - this at a time when Cornwall is very busy - really clever system of ordering drinks etc by text keeps everyone safe, and makes sure everybody gets seved fairly and in turn- well worth a visit- the chips also deserve a special mention!

The food was fantastic, plentiful and great value for money! The Covid rules were, rightfully, followed to the letter, so we felt safe but the welcome was warm! We will definitely be returning and recommending this lovely pub to all our friends! (We live locally but needed somewhere out of Bude at this very, very busy time, during this very busy year)!

We enjoyed a meal in the beer garden on a sunny afternoon. We hadn’t booked and the pub was busy but staff were very accommodating and welcoming. We were informed there might be a bit of a wait for food but didn’t mind at all and to be honest it wasn’t noticeable. The food and drink was great and we’d definitely return.

Tried to visit for lunch at 2.01pm and were told they stopped serving at 2pm..Bar person/owner explained that most places only did 12-2… but there were people in the garden clearly ordering food… helpful if unhelpful.. anyone would not think pubs here been closed for months and needed cash! Hey ho someone else got our money

We drove over 200 miles for our one-week holiday in Cornwall; for our first dinner out, we went to this place, and it was a great experience! The bouillabaisse was delicious, and the kids’ food was good. The online ordering app caused a delay, and they offered us a round of beers. We highly recommend the New Inn!

We visited Kilkhampton and walked into this pub and managed to eat here 3 times during our stay!...after a very warm welcome on our first booking.Extensive menu, beautifully cooked food well presented, prawn linguine was delicious, Ribeye (local butcher) cooked to perfection, Goan veg curry great flavours, so too was the creme brulee. We would definitely recommend & will be returning when next in Kilkhampton. Thank you The New Inn and all your staff.

Me and my friend walked in to Be greeted by a very frosty reception. Telling us the pub was full but not one person in there. Definitely not for tourists, was like something out of a film and spoke to like rubbish of barlady. Never been treated like that when entering a public house. If your a tourist avoid!

The pub's home made steak & kidney pie was the best I have tasted so would recommend this dish. Staff friendly and helpful. Pre-booking is essential especially as capacity restrictions apply to all restaurants at the moment

We came for a family meal as we are staying at penstowe park we wanted to go out for tea. The one waitress was extremely rude from the time we walked in my 8 year old son was very excited as we were in holiday and going out for tea when we got to the door he rang the bell 4 times I told him thats enough as they were coming, she stormed over looked at me and said abruptly yes can I help you!no soon as we sat down she demanded we ordered of the menu as they had a party coming in we asked for 5 minutes as we haven't had chance to look at the menu as there was 6 of us to look at 1 menu so she gave me a dirty look and said oh right and just stood there at the edge of the table staring while we looked at menu I asked her to leave us while we looked and explained we had only just got there and handed had chance to look so she stormed off. A older man who I guess was the landlord has a seriously bad attitude aswell when we ordered pudding I asked for chocolate fudge cake he stared at me then waved he hands like I was stupid I asked whats wrong he said well what do you want with it cream? Overall a terrible place to go avoid if you want a friendly place they definitely do not like new faces in there

Both the starters and main courses were delicious ,fresh and piping hot.The staff were great and couldn't do enough for us.Hopefully we will visit again before heading back to London in a few days.Thank you

Beautiful little Cornish country pub, very friendly staff and atmosphere, food was excellent and very generous portions.I had the mussels which were as good as I’ve had anywhere else, my wife had American meatloaf which she struggled to finish due to the size of the portion.Highly recommend a visit

We came down on holiday on a Monday which meant not much was open. We only came in on the off chance that they were doing food, and I have to say that between four of us not one person had a bad meal.

Food was excellent pub food, very full, fresh veg and lovely hosts. Would love to have sat in the garden area. Recommend this place, really nice pub.

Driving past this place every time we stay at Penstowe and never visited until this time. Wow. Very surprised. Firstly you walk in and it’s massive. You do think it is from the road. Has two outdoor seating areas also and a car park to the side. The food is amazing, it really surprised us. Best steak I’ve had in years. So good we went back a second time before leaving Cornwall. You will not be disappointed in the food here. My 11 yr old had his first steak and loves it. We’re back in Cornwall on holiday in august and October and will be visiting again.

Excellent service, high quality food, rooms, value for money and staff.We stay here a couple of times a year when COVID permits, a lovely family run pub, with great accommodation and food,easy access to north Devon, and it's not that far from mid Cornwall either

Nice welcome on arrival and very accommodating with a mobility scooter. Sunday lunch was good value for money, although we would have liked more cauliflower cheese and puddings we wouldn’t normally have at home. It was very pleasant though.

Left before ordering because of rudeness and attitude of The Landlord who is obviously in the wrong trade especially post Covid .

Nearly didn't go here because of some negative reviews but so glad we ignored them! Food is superb, especially the Specials! First visit I had Mullet and it was cooked to perfection. Partner had lamb and it just melted in mouth. Returned next day and tried the Mega burger even though I'm not a big burger eater this one was divine.Very good Covid precautions in place and adhered to without dominating the experience. Staff were friendly and took orders by text or in person at quieter times. It's not a fast food joint so don't expect your food to arrive instantly, but service was steady and food was very well cooked and presented.We returned on the Friday evening with friends and spent a fantastic evening drinking, eating and laughing ..just perfect! We will be back because I only tried half the menu and I really need more Squid and Sticky Toffee Pudding!

We ate at The New Inn with friends last night as it is half way between where we were both staying. The pub/restaurant is family friendly and nicely laid out and complies with all covid recommendations. The food was top notch and service was impeccable. Will definitely return.

Such a lovely family run pub. Excellent menu of pub classics. They couldn't have been more accommodating with dietary requirements etc. Mum came and took our orders. She had a lovely manner and immediately made our group feel welcome, valued as customers and made a nice fuss of the kids. She told us they've had the pub 30 yrs! Her son brought the food out and was a lovely guy, clearly brought up in hospitality and the family business. Great attention to details like baby wipes available in the bathroom, which made the place feel extra welcoming. The regulars were all very friendly and there was a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely visit again if we're in the area and would recommend to others.

We were recommended this pub by a local farmer as the food and beer were good, unfortunately when we arrived after checking in as appropriate and were wearing masks, etc we were told they had nothing to offer us and suggested we tried elsewhere. We went into another public house and were told that the new inn only want to offer a service to their locals. They should update their website so that non-local people staying in this lovely part of the country are saved the embarrassment of trying to eat a d drink there. We walked passed later in the evening and noticed other people walking in, presumably they were local.

Stayed in pentire just down the road for 4 nights . We visited this lovely pub/restaurant the first night for a drink . It was very welcoming and very COVID clean and safe . We booked a table for the following evening for food , it was amazing . We then booked again for our last night so 3 out of 4 nights we visited this pub . I can strongly recommend this lovely pub with very friendly and welcoming staff and great food

Three generations stayed in the pub and the cottage. All accommodation excellent standard, like staying in a hotel not a pub. Very well set up for covid 19. Would highly recommend and are booking our next stay! Thank you for your attention to detail staff could not have been more helpful.

This is one of the best pubs in the West Country. The menu is varied, the food is delicious, the portions are large, the prices are reasonable and the service is quick and friendly. Covid precautions in place. Car park. Highly recommended.

We were staying on local farm where the cottage owner suggested we go to the New Inn for dinner. We weren't disappointed. Friendly welcome from staff who were pleasant throughout. Bit unusual doing the ordering via text or whatsap but was easy and helped to reduce covid contact risks. Staff wore masks at all times and there was a one way system in place.Food was lovely. Value for money.We enjoyed if so much we returned a couple of nights later where service, staff and food were equally as good.(Although have to say that the bread and butter pudding was disappointing - not enough egg custard to soak into the bread which left the top layer just sweet, dry and buttery - more like sugary toast)My only critisicm was that portion sizes for mains were huge - could have reduced by a third and would still have had plenty. Less food waste and would still be value for money

We were recommended this pub by the owner of the cottage we were staying in and it definitely lived up to her recommendation. We ate here twice, once on a busy Saturday night and then on a much quieter Monday night. On both occasions the staff were very friendly and welcoming, covid measures had been put in place and were being adhered to.All the food was delicious, we all had something different on both occasions so we can recommend many of the dishes from experience (my favourite was the melt in the mouth Brisket)If I am ever in the area again I would definitely revisit.

This is the worst pub I have been in in Cornwall.The food is average at besr .The staff and locals are extremely rude and unfriendly.A terrible place.

Were fitted in on a Monday night after an horrible journey along the M5. The staff were very friendly, helpful and Covid aware. The food was excellent especially if you are hungry and the drinks also excellent. Can recommend the fish and chips and the steak and kidney pie, so nice to have shortcrust pastry and not the waste of space puff pastry lid. The specials are also worth checking out. So good we ate there twice more during our short stay in Bude.

Was visiting Kilkhampton with a friend and decided to go into The New Inn to get a drink as it was a hot day. The outside of the inn looked very nice and the layout inside was clean and spacious. Unfortunately, that was where it ended. The lady behind the bar eventually greeted us (if a grunt could be called a greeting) and then gave a vague instruction about ordering via a text message. Once seated we were then ignored for 10 minutes, while regulars walked up to the bar and were served. Deciding that it was not worth being cold shouldered for the sake of a drink, we made a hasty exit - a sarcastic "Thank you" from the bar lady following us out as we left. I wish we could rate the food and drink on offer, but unfortunately the staff member was so unwelcoming and unfriendly that we never got the chance, deciding instead to get a drink from Co-Op, which was cheaper and the service much much better. We will not be visiting The New Inn again, and will not be recommending it to anyone else.

Fantastic welcome, great rooms, lovely food, and great friendly staff who enjoy a bit of banter. We have returned several times and will keep coming back when we are in the area.

We arrived in kilkhampton Saturday, and quickly told not dog friendly! Which is fine, but to be honest unless your local no tourist are welcome, have it a second go Tuesday evening, we were told only room was in the garden, although there seemed plenty of tables free, you txt your drinks order, we’d had the same for 3 orders but because I’d missed spelt by one letter the lady behind the bar sarcastically said she didn’t know what I meant!! We asked 3 times if there was a table available for food an finally they said 7.45, we ordered and paid but waited until 8.30 for our meals which was supposed to come with coleslaw, no mention that they have run out when it finally came, I asked where the coleslaw was an she said she didn’t know, she went to the kitchen and brought out pasta in a pinky sauce, which we didn’t eat, The burgers that we both ordered had a funny taste an ended up taking back for the dog!Killhampton is a lovely little village, very assessableto a lot places The London inn that is in the village is very hospitable and I would highly recommend. Staff lovely, an great food, an very dog friendly.

Lovely friendly staff, efficient service and the food was excellent! Proper home cooking. We had what they call ‘proper’ homemade steak and kidney pie, with seasonal veg and chips, it was amazing! Also the homemade lasagne, which came with a lovely side salad and chips. Very generous portions. I would highly recommend the food here. People around us were also complimenting on what they had, it all looked really good!The pub has a nice welcoming atmosphere too. We’re looking forward to going back.

had a evening meal for 4 last night we ordered 4 steak meals with 4 drinks tried to order from staff told to busy order on line, drinks took 30 minutes to come to our table, meal come 20 minutes latter steak small lots of fat over cooked and hard, chips undercooked, and mushroom extra had 2 small mushrooms cut up for £2/50 each we have eaten here a few times before and had good meals but yesterday was terrible, we did not pay for the 3 meals sent back but the food was bad and some of the staff were rude
