Met a friend for lunch and a catchup. Sadly although no complaints about the food the atmosphere was awful. We were the only customers. The landlady sat at the table next to us on her computer so no privacy. It was so so cold in the bar by the time we finished eating we could hardly sit still. Tip...light the fire !

This is a great and friendly true English pub. The pub was less than 5 minutes drive from our B&B so we headed there for dinner. We both choose the salmon and weren't disappointed. Mel the publican was friendly and welcoming and her drink recommendations were appreciated. It was great to see that dogs are allowed so we got to me locals as well as friendly dogs. The car park is bedside the pub and its easy to find.

Visiting area and wanted to try this traditional Cornish pub which has its own car park fortunately, as on a very busy fast road- fast despite a 30mph limit. Good welcome from the owner, clean , tidy and good menu choices. Allergies well catered for. Food, hot and well presented. Large portions. Well worth a visit.

Being local, We booked for the family but ended up bitterly disappointed. The food was very disappointing - chilli was very dry, mashed potatoes was lumpy and dry, pie was crusty and overcooked. The staff were very rude and seemed like it was an inconvenience us being there. The portions were small- we all ended up having a snack later in the night. This pub used to be a lovely local pub, but now it has completely lost its appeal

With two coeliacs in our large group I want to give two reviews. GF - the burgers are delicious, one of the coeliacs is a young boy who misses a good burger, not home made, and the fail usually is the bun and that chips can’t be served with a burger. But not here, separate chip fryer so no contamination of chips and the bun is fantastic. Desert options were great we were told usually a steam sponge option. Food was so good they went twice in three days 😂 Non gluten free food. Fabulous. Hot fresh and well cooked. Cooked to order and served as requested.

Stumbled upon this fantastic pub after taking a wrong turning. Lovely and clean proper pub! Seperate dining area which is rare nowadays. Drinks were faily priced and the food was fantastic! I had lasagna which was very meaty and very tasty. My son had a burger which he told me was "really nice" (which is a compliment from a 16 year old!) and my mum had the rump steak which she said was the best meal she'd had all holiday! I wish we had found this pub sooner but we will be back next year!

Happened on this pub W route and wanting some lunch. Glad we did as very warmly welcomed and had a nice meal. Lunch menu was based around pub style food with us having BLT baguette and sausage eggs and chips plus nice selection of beers. Ate in shaded part of small garden which was nice on a very hot day. Called into the New Inn on the off chance of food. Finish serving at 2:30 and we arrived at 2:20. There was no problem at al with ordering food and we were met with a friendly smile from the owner. Had homemade lasagne, all day breakfast, and two scampi’s. With a pint, glass of wine and two soft drinks it only came to £48. Happy to offer a smaller portion for my elderly mother. Lovely and hot and freshly prepared. Would recommend a visit to anyone.

Myself and partner often taken his parents for dinner here but this weekend we went to The Wendron New Inn with my sister and brother in-law. We all enjoyed our roast dinners, the meat, potatoes and veg was cooked prefectly. The portions were very generous and the four of us were very full up. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. I highly recommend this inn, especially if you are really hungry as you wont leave hungry. Really disappointed with the food. Alas the old owner has gone and seems the good food with it. The catch of the day was a big hit but has now been replaced with frozen seafood. The lasagna was very very dry and tasteless. My partners steak was ok (edible) but the chips were raw. The dinner my mother in law received looked and tasted bland. Pretty sure there was a frozen yorkshire pudding. We loved this pub and always made sure we visited every year. Never failed to impress. That has now come to an end as the food is just basic

Visited the Wendron New Inn for lunch mid-week. The friendly landlady was very welcoming and the service. Our meals were very tasty and both featured local produce, which I think is always good. The menu had plenty of choice, the daily specials were very tempting too and the price very reasonable. The pub has a bar area which is dog friendly and a separate restaurant side and there is ample parking. Just one thing to note, it is actually situated on the main road in Wendron, next to the church and not in Wendron Street, Helston as shown on the map on this site. We will definitely be back and recommend you visit too.

Found this pub on our week in Cornwall. Greeted by Mel and felt so welcome from the minute we met. The food is wonderful, we had the 2 steaks and bottle of wine on our first night, this was cooked to perfection by Phil as was the fish and chips with mushy peas plus bottle of wine for £20 on the Friday. Our weather was the best so spent time in the secluded beer garden (so peaceful). We were very pleased to be able to book the New Inn at very short notice. The Landlady was very friendly and welcoming - both on the phone and in person. We were shown to our table and ordered our food. We were served by a very pleasant young man who did everything possible to make our eating experience a pleasant one. My Sister in Law had Chicken Tikka as a starter which she thoroughly enjoyed and I had Garlic Mushrooms which were absolutely yummy. Mains were a lamb shank and butterfly chicken which was very tasty but I wasn't overly thrilled with the type of peas and would personally prefer garden peas (just a small gripe) I would suggest, however that consideration be given to warming up the window end of the Restaurant as it was really quite chilly - perhaps a gas heater or similar just until the room warms up - we were the first ones there and in hindsight I think I would have preferred to have eaten in the Bar side where there was a lovely wood burner ablaze. Overall we were both pleased with our meal and we will be back!

We had long intended to return to this pub, having been there only once, around a decade ago. It seemed a longer drive than we'd remembered when we'd passed by a couple of weeks back. There is a carpark almost nextdoor to the pub. The surface of this is extremely rough. Anyone with mobility problems would struggle here. The pedestrian access would be inaccessible for a wheelchair user, thus requiring a trip on the wrong side along a narrow road. Even to get to or from the pedestrian access requires a jaunt onto the twisty road.Inside the pub is rather dark, with one side being set up as a dining room, the other a lounge. There is a medium sized beer garden at the rear. It is a Skinner's pub, so expect good beer, well kept as it turns out. The woman behind the bar, who I imagine is the Landlady, was friendly and polite, however, even with the only half a dozen or so customers, there was an unwelcome atmosphere of "Deliverance" about the place. The interior looks and feels tired, faded, jaded and shabby - without any chic. We quickly made for the beer garden. We didn't eat there on this occasion so cannot comment on the food, though the items described on the blackboard were interesting eg Lentil curry and reasonably priced. Almost the most notable point I could make is that the prices for our drinks must be the lowest we've paid anywhere for a number of years. I'm not sure what this says about the New Inn but I feel it warrants a mention. There were quite a lot of unfinished projects and items such as an exercise bike cluttering up the area around the toilets, again meaning that any person with mobility issues would seriously struggle to access the facilities. In conclusion long past its sell-by date, much like us, drab and a little grubby, I sadly don't think I could recommend this place.

Having used this as an 'old faithful' for good honest pub food and a great steak, we booked tonight with my parents that were down on holiday. Three steaks, all rump, rare and two medium rare, a monkfish Thai curry and a burger. To say the steaks were erratic was an understatement. The rare steak was rare but as tough as old boots. My daughters' steak, medium rare was ok. Mine was very well done, after ordering a medium rare and had the consistency of overcooked liver. We had a few chips each that were cold and hard too. The standard of the food has dropped dramatically since the change of owners. It is a great disappointment to us locals.

Very tasty, could not fault it.Dessert we chose the rhubarb pie with ginger with clotted cream, it was ok but probably wouldn't have it again, couldn't taste the ginger and the pie 'seemed' to have been reheated 'perhaps' in the microwave so the pastry wasn't as nice as it would have been intended to be by the Chef. All in all would definitely eat here again. The New Inn is a small pub in Wendron, near Helston. It has a small bar area with a larger restaurant area. Without wishing to be mean to the owners, it does smell like an old pub building. My parents and I ate dinner here on a weekday night and it was just us dining with a couple and a dog in the bar area. We sat in the bar area and looked that the menus and the specials board whilst we had a drink. The pub stocks several local Cornish beers so my Dad was pleased. We ordered our food at the bar and when it was nearly ready, we were asked to take our table in the dining area. My Mum and I both had the ribeye steak from the specials board. This is lovely and tender but didn't have much taste. It came with an onion 'butter' (more of a sauce) which was quite strong tasting and we picked out the whole peppercorns from it. My Dad had liver and bacon which he enjoyed very much. Each dish cost under £15 but I can't remember the exact price. The portions are quite large and there wasn't any room for dessert. The staff were friendly.

We came across this little gem by chance and are so glad we tried it.We were welcomed into a very cosy bar which was comfortably busy. The food was fantastic ... my daughter chose a steak which was best we have had in Cornwall! The fish pie was delicious too! Proper, delicious home cooked food!Would happily recommend to anyone visiting the area. You can take dogs into the bar area so booking a table, particularly later in the week is suggested!

Friendly pub, easy to find. Good menu selection at reasonable prices. We didn't book and they were happy to accommodate us. Our meals were generous and tasty. To be honest my rib eye steak was disappointingly tough but my partner enjoyed her meal.

I have never disliked anything about the New Inn. Good food and good beer. Yes it is my local. I walk a mile across field to get to it and compared to some of the Pubs around it outclasses them just by delivering what you want....

Visited here a week ago with family for lunch. Place wasn't busy but it was a weekday. We mostly ordered hot sandwiches. They were all very good.Had a little one with us, too, and landlord not only offered to cut the crusts off of his sandwich but also made sure he was the first one served. Seriously, small touches like this are memorable and very much appreciated. If you are ever in the Wendron / Helston area, have lunch here. Terrific service and food (and beer). Thanks, landlord, for the attention we received.

we dropped in for a quick lunch and enjoyed local cider and beers, good wine also on offer. The landlord was very welcoming and the pub offered good variety of pub grub fare including very nice looking fresh crab baguettesWe both opted for jacket potatoes which were delicious , generously topped with prawns (and good quality Mayo too) . They came with fresh salad with loads of different fresh veg chopped on and around as well as particularly delicious carrot salad .There not much you can say about a simple meal like jacket spud but I can honestly say I have never had better !

Ate here 3 times last week whilst staying down in Cornwall on holiday. On all 3 occasions the food was lovely, I had the sweet&sour chicken, lasange and the garlic steak sizzler. Piping hot, very tasty and huge portions (I never managed to finish a meal). Pub is quite small, but very olde wolde, landlord friendly and well kept beers. Only critisim I would have is the waitresses on the Tuesday and Thursday evening were quite rude! however the Monday night waitress was lovely! Thanks again, and hopefully will be coming again next year.

A good time was had by all the pub has the feel of a nice local slightly tired but this adds to the comfortable ambiance .A good selection of local ales.the food was generous in portion size especially the starters the grilled muscles were really nice there is a good selection for starters and mains, for pudding they need to put in some lighter options as I don't like ice cream. The service was friendly carying on the friendly family local feeling

Its not often your local pub is a focal point by itself. The beer is excellent and the meal even better. If your hungry try the Sunday roast. It'll fill even a "Great Whites" appetite. Nigel the proprietor is also very knowledgeable in his beers. Service is excellent and the beer garden faces North west which means on a warm Summers evening it gets the last rays of the day.Once a year the Pub hosts Wendonbury a light hearted take on the Main event in Glastonbury. Good fun..

I've visited this pub several times over the last 3 or4 years. It's a lovely country pub with an excellent selection of real ales, and the landlord knows how to look after them. The food is of a high standard, with generous portions. My only criticism is that there is little variety for vegetarians, but I have had something prepared off menu in the past.

Very polite staff, service was excellent and the food was delicious. Though not many vegetarian options, what they did have was tasty and fulfilling. My husband had steak and ribs, which were both cooked to perfection and the rib meat tender and juicy. I had 2 starters - the butternut squash and pine nut soup was hearty and very tasty. We had local pale ale, called Tribute and it was great.

A good friendly welcome by the staff. We sat in the bar until we were called into the restaurant for our meal. Good staff, very helpful. Good pub food and plenty of it, I had a very good well cooked steak and my friends had the ribs, which they thoroughly enjoyed. A lovely country pub, it was raining so did not get to see the outside eating area, so will have to go back.

Tried the New Inn for the first time and it was the best choice we could have made. The roast dinner was the tastiest we've ever had. Lamb or Beef and the most delicious gravy, tender meat and great selection of veg. Real home cooked style, very tasty. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere! Well done to them all! :D

My first visit to the New Inn and I hope it will not be my last.We went as a family for Sunday lunch, menu choices good, if you do not want the traditional roast there are other choices on the menu. This was a traditional home cooked roast dinner, meat cooked to perfection, perfect roast potatoes, we did ask for extra veg and gravy, which was served quickly. The gravy is something else!Dessert menus are great variety to suit all taste buds. This is a pub, traditional, clean, great service.Apparently the steaks are amazing, so I am hoping to return in the evening and I will let you know. Well done New Inn, you have got this just right.

We visited this pub on the recommendation of our holiday host last week. We had a decidedly unfriendly welcome by the Landlord and I suppose viewed us as foreigners! we found our own way into the lounge which was very dark and dingy. The price of the food was more expensive than a nearby one in Stithians and not a patch on the quality and quantity. There were only two things on the menu that my husband liked so he went for the gammon which was very nice, I had chicken sizzler. The chicken was smothered in cheese and, because it was on a sizzling plate, had turned into running fat. The Gammon was fine. However, I think if you do not want this modern food such as ribs and sizzling stuff, then you will be disappointed.. The food is geared up to provide more gourmet style food but the surroundings do not compliment this. Why not stick with traditional Briitsh pub food and not try and be something you are clearly not, which is an exclusive restaurant.

We visited the New Inn last week and had a fabulous meal there. My son said that the ribs were the best he'd had anywhere, his partner had a delicious lamb shank. I had gammon, my husband had the sizzling chicken, which sizzled for several minutes. It was all fab, we had starters too which anyone with a normal appetite could do without, although they were delicious too. the restaurant is pleasantly laid out with a nice cosy atmosphere.

We ate here in april. 2 adults and 1 child. Childrens portions were excellent, large and great value for money. As an adult I would not have been unhappy with this portion myself so plenty for kids. The adult portions were just as good and would definatly recommend the ribs. They were meaty and well cooked just melting in the mouth. The steak was also good but the ribs standout as the set piece!

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
