The New Inn in East Devon

Service was good but slow due to a large party taking place in the function room. The food overall seemed good, but my burger was undercooked, and the onion rings seemed raw inside of the breadcrumb coating.

Excellent service, enjoyed the food. Very quiet except for a party going on in the function room.

An unfortunate situation occurred during our visit, where two people started shouting and threatening each other during our meal. A minor scuffle began, which was right next to our table. The locals and bar staff quickly moved this outside, but it's not the sort of experience we'd hoped for. However, we were grateful to have been spared from what looked like a potentially serious physical attack. Sadly, the food was poor in terms of flavour. We can cook and prepare much nicer dishes at home, which is perhaps what we should have done. Given the tension and ongoing drama, we left as quickly as possible without mentioning the issues with our food.

I have just moved to the area and went for a Sunday roast. So, I tried out The New Inn. The staff were really friendly, dogs are welcome in the restaurant as well (a separate food area only). The roast was delicious. There were a few selections of meat to choose from. It's all bought out for you. It's not a carvery, it's all table service. The staff were friendly and attentive, always making sure we had drinks etc. We had their apple crumble for pudding, it was delicious. The food was good portions, and we all left feeling very satisfied. Outside, there is more seating, and there was a bouncy castle and a large play area for children. There is ample parking as well. The atmosphere was really nice and cosy. I would definitely recommend

Lovely pub with big beer garden

I recently visited this pub and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing food and excellent service. The prices were also very reasonable for the high quality of food that we received. My whole family, including my partner and kids, thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this pub. Additionally, the outdoor seating area was lovely with beautiful garden. I highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for a delicious meal and enjoyable dining experience outside of Broadclyst village.

Popped in to confirm Sunday lunch booking. Had a lovely cottage pie and a good pint of jail ale.

Just popped in for a drink on a bike ride. Very friendly atmosphere and cosy seating areas. Great in the summer with large beer garden in rural setting.

Visited today for half a cider, a coffee and some scratchings. We were up the road looking to buy a car. We decided to call in for a drink as we were waiting for the garage to sort the car for us. Driving in to a spacious car park, Then went in, it was very welcoming. Girls behind the bar were great, lovely welcoming smiles and the cost of what we had was fantastic. We came from Bideford but would travel here again for a meal out and the great atmosphere. Thanks very much

Food was not the best. Watery and tasteless veg. Fish a little overcooked. Service and coffee was excellent.

Lovely bar area and friendly staff. Food was good and 3 out of the four of us really enjoyed it. The other was "ok" The night we chose was pub quiz night and was very noisy which didn't help trying to have a conversation so we skipped desert and left early. Probably will go back but not on a quiz night.

A great find with an extensive choice of gluten free dishes. Great value lunchtime offers and friendly staff. Will definitely return!

A great British pub that is on the up. Everything you could want in a pub. My only advice is beware they have live bands on Friday nights, and they can be loud.

The food was very ordinary really. Not sure if any of it was actually home made. The dead flies on the windowsill didn't help!

Pleasant but menu had changed recently and some options had run out and it seemed some were not on the menu. As a first visit, I would probably give it a second visit.

We stopped over here for one night in our motorhome. The staff from the pup were so welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious especially the dessert which was amazing and definitely worth a go , apple & rhubarb crumble this alone deserves 5* Nice big car park , quite & safe . Dog friendly too :)

First time here and what a lovely meal. Mothers day roast lamb, but there other choices. The staff were lovely and friendly also helpful. Nice clean restaurant. Well run place as it was very busy but no waiting around. Lovely garden area too.

Very tasty Sunday roast followed by a yummy cheesecake. Quick service by very smiley happy team, plus dog friendly. The reason I've given 4* & not 5* is my husband felt there wasn't alot of meat on his plate.

We held our twin daughters 18th birthday party here 🥳 We had an amazing night. The land lady Carol and her team were fantastic, The buffet was enjoyed by all - Thank you chef. We hired the old skittle alley for 35 ppl and it was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to the whole team 🎉.

The food is top notch. The staff are friendly with smiles and conversation. A proper family atmosphere. Tis a bit off the beaten track but well worth the trip. The chef served me the best steak meal I've had for a good few years.

Fabulous stop over, ended up staying 2nights, landlady and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Sunday lunch was delicious and Monday evenings meal scrumptious all homemade, and lovely wine. Great location for forest and 30 minute drive to Exmouth. Would highly recommend

Went to the New Inn near Broadclyst with my partner more by chance than planned, had been before some years ago and enjoyed our visit, this time we were looking for somewhere to eat dinner but had left it late to book anywhere, remembered the New Inn phoned and they were very helpful and immediately booked us in. The menu was excellent with a good choice on meals and on arrival at table food really good quality. Would highly recommend a visit to the New Inn.

Good food with a pleasant atmosphere.

The food was fantastic and the staff very solicitous, noticing our young children and moving a rocking horse closer for them to play with. They also sold (£2 each) kids activity packs, which I think is a great idea. Outdoors there are a few swings and big field to play in - perhaps they’ll add a playground at some point? The outdoor seating includes a covered area as well as tables with brollies and gazebos. There is plenty of parking.

We only used the bar as we had gone to watch Hot House Combo outside in the brilliant space, which is great for families. Nice cider available from Sharps.

Lovely little place to visit, everything's reasonably priced and very tasty. Kids meals were excellent, we have fussy eaters and they all had empty places. Definitely a new favourite of ours 😊

Lovely old surroundings and excellent food but sadly the kitchen had run out off pheasant pie so we had belly pork instead followed by rhubarb crumble and ice cream. Mmmm Scrumptious!!!

New owners have really done the place well, decor brilliant staff friendly

Moody teens behind the bar on entry not very helpful or friendly but the ones serving outside quite the opposite, and the food was surprisingly good, no frills but wholesome and tasty. Like most places it does depend on what day and hour you go, can vary immensely.

Had roast turkey today 2.30 pm it was very obvious that it had been cooked for midday and had been put in microwave potatoes old stell not nice for £11.95 each won't be going back to be ripped off with perding food.
