A very nice pub, with good food in a really nice area. It is quite calm and you can really wind down after a busy day.

Just stopped off for a drink. Quaint old pub in a very quiet village setting. Inches cider on tap.

June 6th..Went for lunch, food excellent, service excellent. Seemed to be just one young lady, serving bar, taking orders and serving food. Very cheerfull and polite. Think the new owners have a difficult job to follow how Dora ran the place. Comments, not complaints.... Tried to ring and book table for 3 lunchtime. No answer, no answer phone, realised another mobile temporary no. No answer or answer phone. Arrived, just before 1pm, car park full, beer delivery truck had difficulty parking. Found one tight parking space OK. Almost went elsewhere as looked very busy . On.entering bar we were told we could sit anywhere, bar empty,we choose restaurant bar. Plenty of seating, choice if tables, table of 6 ladies ,and a couple having lunch. Queried the busy carpark, told the school, next-door were using it! Very neighbourly but not good for business.. A friend rang to book Sunday Lunch, no phones answered, no answer phone so booked elsewhere. Good luck to new owners at this difficult time for pubs. We need our local pubs. Really sad to post this. Everthing should be a 4 to 5. Great lication and so looking forward to a pint and a bite after a lovely family birthday Sunday...but no...phone calls...no food after 5 pm!! Another call very late in the day..please check in by 8pm or key left in key safe!! Booking site stated 10pm check in..no reply from them as yet! Staff there to show us to the room. Sadly, nothing else about welcome, wifi etc... Light to toilet area in bathroom not working..simply replace...used tissues in top drawer with hair dryer..simply check and throw away...wet towel at side of bath..probably used to clean..just take away. We know it is Sunday. Probably a lazy, slow day...but let's keep it together. Such a long review because so much could be di wondeeful. Sorry guys but give people the experience they want

First visit to this 'oldy worldly' village pub and restaurant - we did not use the bedrooms so cannot comment on them. Well worth the visit and will certainly go again asap - depending on the weather you can opt for indoor bar and/or eating or outdoors. The garden is on a VERY quiet lane and the interior decor is very relaxing with lots of old world charm . The food was well priced and excellent with a variety to suit all tastes. The drinks were the same with the draught beer highly recommended. Well worth a visit to enjoy a relaxing evening meal and drink.

Ordered a greek salad off the menu. The only thing Greek about it was the few chunks of feta and 4 scattered olives in it. I queried this but then no one who worked there knew what a greek salad should be. The smashburgers were not smashed. They were thick, pink hockey pucks. In fact, they accidentally admitted they were frozen. A £17 burger should not be frozen. They clearly sold trendy items and had no idea how to deliver. Stick with normal pub fair! This was pretty rank.

Lovely local pub with great service and a very friendly atmosphere. Now I no longer live there, then I'll be totally honest that the bar staff are amazing, but the pub is ruined by some arrogant and unfriendly locals. I don't mean everyone but a number of locals don't make "newcomers" welcome. You'll enjoy The Pack Horse in Maple Durham more, plus the food is significantly better.

We stayed yesterday and loved location. Lovely garden to chill. Nice restaurant and Lily was superb although she did seem to be doing everything! Only quibbles were no Internet and no cooked breakfast which I would say is a must? Told new owners were trying to get the place up and running again. I wish them well but would say more staff are needed and the owners should be available on site. Overall a lovely place with bags of potential. Thankyou again Lily ... nothing was too much trouble. Although 3 hours from home I would stay again.

Stayed for just 1 night whilst on a business trip and had a lovely experience, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was well equipped and just what I needed. Will definitely stay again when I'm in the area. Highly recommended.

Under new management... They have Oxford Gold all the time, yes! The food menus look really nice as well - look out for the Black Pudding Scotch Egg. Support your local pubs: use them or lose them.

The New Inn has new owners. They charged me £351 over three nights for an unacceptable room. The heating was broken before I arrived. They were aware of it but didn’t tell me. It was boiling hot and uncomfortable. They said it would be fixed the next day. It wasn’t. They said that the heating had been switched off. It wasn’t. It was boiling for the entire trip. I tried to open the windows in the bedroom and bathroom, but only two of the four windows would open. I had to turn on a fan to make it slightly more bearable. In addition, the tap in the bathroom was loose and the area around the tap was water stained. There was no bulb in the bedside table. The internet failed to work on the final evening. When I took the manageress around the property on the final morning and pointed all this out, she said, “we’ve had a few problems in this building”, “we’re going to get a handy man in” and “it will be better the next time you stay”. All these may be true, but they are hardly my problem as a paying customer. At no point did they offer me a different room or even a meal on the house (the owner, of course, did suggest that this may be possible after I had returned home, and I had pointed out that it may have helped at the time). When the owner eventually phoned me later, she just said that she would close the room down until it was fixed. When I asked if the accommodation was, in her opinion, worth £350, there was no reply. Her overall attitude was bemusing for a person in the service industry. Throughout the stay I was courteous and polite with the staff, and they with me, but I feel like I have been seriously let down as a customer. I informed them through courtesy that I would be writing a review. The owner simply didn’t care. In conclusion, the accommodation was inadequate, and the customer service was non-existent.

We arrived later than expected due to heavy non-stop rain and hold ups on the M40, not in a particulary good mood. However our mood was lighlened somewhat by the friendly young lady who quickly booked us in and in pouring rain, helped to the us with our bags to the rear of the building for access and then to our room, Thank you Maisie. Our room looked as good as the on-line picture King bed proved as comfortable as it looked, large shower, bath and bathroom. All good! Unfortunately, due to other commitments, we were unable to spend time in the bar, which looked snug and friendly but we must mention the breakfasts. Mandy, your "full-english "were the very best! Much enjoyed and set me up for the day. Thank you. PS. Enjoyed our conversations too. having lovely staff makes all the difference for an enjoyable stay.

Visited after a walk for lunch at a weekend, so had a different menu than in the week. Food was really good, nice ingredients and clearly taking care to create a diverse menu with a nice variety of options to all tastes and dietary requirements. We only ordered in the bar, so didn’t see the restaurant or the rooms, but overall it is a little tired inside and outside the garden needed a little bit of upkeep, but many people are mentioning new owners so guess its not something they’ve got round to yet.

I had the Korai Kabab Khyberi and although it was presentable and looked as though it was going to be full of flavour, it turned out to be very bland. There was no depth to the taste like there usually is with these types of dishes and the chicken definitely hadn't been marinated long enough (or at least it tasted that way). All very nice ambience and the service was relatively good but if the food isn't tasty then everything else pales into insignificance. Maybe the chef just had an "off-night" or maybe because it's the only tandoori in Streatley meant there isn't competition to keep them on their toes - I'm hoping it's the former.

Consistently good. Freshly cooked light meals, decent coffee and friendly service. Bike parking in the garden too. A great alternative to Riverside nearby

Been a few times since it changed hands and unfortunately the food quality has dropped. The fish is consistently rubbery and overcooked. It’s never skinless when we ask for it. Last week we ordered two large cod and the size difference between the two was ridiculous, and the chips were virtually a bag of leftover crispy bits - some people might like that, but we like some actual potato in our chips. Real disappointing.

We decided on Sunday morning to try the Red Lion for lunch, and booked a table for 1330. We arrived and were met by efficient staff who were expecting us and offered us a choice of table. Drinks were ordered from a knowledgeable waiter and arrived quickly, mine being a very well-kept pint from tge local Amwell Springs brewery. We both chose beef from an extremely well thought-out menu which again arrived after only a short wait. The meat was beautifully cooked and presented on a large plate with very well cooked greens, carrots and a freshly-made Yorkshire puddings. Sides of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes were excellent, probably the best roasties I've had, and the horseradish was similarly delicious. We both cleared our plates and the side dishes. Utterly gorgeous, go and see for yourself.
