The New Fairlop Oak - JD Wetherspoon in Redbridge

Drunk here on and off for 40 odd years. It was a Berni Inn when I first came in there! Beer is always pretty good and there is always a nice country wide selection of Ales. It has to be said some staff are miserable as sin.. but then that’s working at Wetherspoons for you perhaps? Some are very friendly though in fairness, but some of the fellas behind the bar need a bit of customer related training it has to be said, or different jobs perhaps? Still, all that has not stopped me drinking here :)

The heart of the local community, as a pub should be. The only (minor) gripe I have is that the tables are too densely packed. Your chair is always too close to the chair behind it, often making it awkward to make your way in/out of where you're sat.

Very busy evening but still got a table, ordered via the app and got our food and drinks pretty quick. Always a good selection of beers, never disappointed.

I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding an incident that occurred at The New Fairlop Oak on 26/04/25 at 15-16 pm . During my visit, I experienced behavior from the manager that was not only extremely rude but also clearly racist. She named our kids crazy , uncontrollable with any reason. Also she didn’t wanted to present herself and let a customer from garden to speak with me instead her and I believe this is so unprofessional . I asked if I can speak with other manager as she couldn’t explain clearly what was the reason that she was so upset on us. I request that this incident be taken very seriously and properly investigated. I would like to know what actions will be taken to address the behavior of the manager involved and to ensure that no other customer has to experience such mistreatment. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable in any setting, let alone a business that serves the public. I felt humiliated, deeply disrespected, and unsafe. No customer should be made to feel this way under any circumstances.

I would like to share a very disappointing experience I had at this particular pub. During our visit, we were seated in the beer garden with our children, who were simply playing around and enjoying themselves. As we were about to leave, we were approached by a member of staff—apparently the manager—who addressed us in a rude and disrespectful manner. To our shock, he referred to our children as "crazy" and "uncontrollable," which was not only uncalled for but also deeply upsetting. This encounter left us feeling extremely frustrated and unwelcome. I feel it is important to share this experience so that other families planning to visit with children are aware. Unfortunately, this establishment does not appear to be family-friendly, and we will not be returning.

I just want to share my most recent experience. We have been two families with two 2 years old toddlers crying for pizza. After ordering few dishes for us and after asking them if they have a pizza and answer no we order two take away pizzas and we kept them on the table. The lady calling herself as a manager with a leopard print shirt and curly hair in her 50 or 60’s come to table and shout on us that we can not eat pizza there. We closed the boxes and we left the pizza in the car. After that she says that no one can serve us any more and she is being very rude. I am going there every week but this was extreme rudeness for no reason. I will attaché the bill for refference and this is just half of the price we actually pay for food before being acussed and treated unfairly rude for bringing food

Arrived at this obviously very popular Wetherspoons at around lunchtime and although busy was served quickly by friendly welcoming bar staff and managed to find somewhere to sit to enjoy my pint of American Brown Ale from the 'Beer Festival' Selection. A nice pleasant, warm, bright and airy place.

Always value for money, good food

Great place but what really impressed me was an employee called Bianca last night. Although I had been trying to make a reservation through the phone to celebrate my birthday, I did not manage to get a table. When me and my family arrived she promptly figured out a way to sit us down even though they were at full capacity and offered us great service, a friendly talk and a friendly face. Thanks to the team and especially Bianca! Cheers!

We use the app and table service is quick. Due to wantsead has closed Fairlop oak is busy.

Had a lovely lunch with friends once we found a table, can't work out how 2 pints and 2 wines come to less than £9.

Amazing atmosphere, great food and drinks. I was usually served by employee Khrystyna and Egor and they were absolutely amazing.

It's pure relaxation and the prices are absolutely acceptable.

Great service and incredible value with excellent choices. Very happy with service, comfort and drink, I didn't have any food today, but the Breakfasts all looked very tempting. Some parking available but not difficult to find a space near by.

I didn't stop here but looks ok from the outside edit that was from 6 years ago update I went in and had breakfast, very tasty and fast service typical spoons decor, people friendly and welcoming.

Cozy pub with very reasonable prices

It was amazing food and service but table 52 needs the floorboard fixed the first left chair when sitting on it I could feel heavy vibrations from every footstep and my chair was shaking slightly, it’s a little uncomfortable.

Didn't eat, although food looked good, bar staff bouncing around the queue not in order 😮, drinks well priced 👏....would come back again though

Bog standard Spoons in a bit of a desert for decent ales. So their decent selection of cask ales was a welcome sight. The Titanic Plum Porter was sensational and the service was good. Beer garden also.

Nice Wetherspoons Pub. Very good choice on the food menu at reasonable prices. My wife had scampi which she really enjoyed. I had the Gourmet Steak which was alright. Steak was a bit chewy but for the price, it was ok. As most pubs in this franchise there is a great selection of beers and spirits. Staff were friendly, parking in car park next door for a cost, worth a visit.

I had accompanied a friend to an appointment at the nearby King George hospital. We decided to have lunch at the New Fairlop Oak. One of the best, most efficiently managed Wetherspoon I’ve visited. A great experience from entering to leaving. Several well kept guest ales, efficient bar service and very short wait time for food. Although positioned at a very busy roundabout there’s ample parking nearby at sensible prices. Will definitely return if in the area again. Highly recommended.

This is my third time going in here and I always had good time and vibes, the staff and the manager are very friendly and professional, We went also in group during the football game(England and Spain) and the servings was still good even if the pub was full, I recommend the chips and the chicken, there is also lots of space outside in the "garden" and inside. Recommend to everyone

Love the ambience and the people who work there!

Visited a couple of times when working in the area. The food was nice and the drinks are definitely worth it. However the experience i have had with some of the staff was unpleasant. An older lady was extremely rude and didnt have no customer service skills what so ever. Needless to say there was a young man that worked there whom had great customer service. Parking is limited for the pub itself, however there is some road side parking and a bigger carpark across the road that youd have to pay for.

Another Wetherspoons, they've expanded the breakfast menu and it represents excellent value..

Great food new foods added to menu & friendly service

So nice experience, it was playing football England and Spain, I booked a table , but then when I arrived at the pub, few gays was sitting there, refusing to leave the table.. The staff was so nice , they didn’t give up, and they made that’s people to go. I had the tabel and I enjoyed together with my friends. The food was very good, the chips and chicken wings were brilliant. For sure I m coming back. The staff very professional, serving in time.

Very nice pub at the centre of the town. Drinks and food are less expensive compared to other local pubs. Lot of indoor and outdoor space with table service via the app. Easily accessible via public transport and paid parking available.

The place is nice . The staff were amazing , really extra mile to ensure your experience was nice there . But the food was quite terrible. I ordered an apple crumble. This is the way it looks . The crumble on top was the worst I ever had, you can still taste raw flour . I was so disappointed.

Cheap and cheerful. We ordered the Lemon and Herb chicken, Korean Fried Chicken, and Chicken Melt and really enjoyed the food. For about £10-11 for the food and pint, it's an excellent bargain. The pub itself is very large and has an extensive beer garden perfect for those hot summer days.

We had fish and chips with a drink. The fish was very thin and the batter looked it has been fried twice or more. Service was good.

Nice location and reasonable prices

Great Weatherspoons, it has far more natural light than usual Weatherspoons. It has an excellent outdoor seating area for the summer.

Very dominant pub on the entry to Barkingside. Large garden must be very popular in good weather.It was a busy midweek lunchtime and well attended. Food, Service and prices were excellent. Great public transport links and well worth a visit.

I don't normally go for pub dinners, especially at chain restaurants, but decided to give this place a go. The dining area was spacious enough to accommodate many guests, although we had to navigate over spilled food on the carpet to reach an empty table. I opted for a chicken dish, which came with a Mediterranean salad. Unfortunately, I found the salad quite unpleasant. While the chicken was tender, it lacked flavour. My wife ordered the small fish & chips, but the fish turned out to be chewy, and she left half of it uneaten. Despite the saying 'you get what you pay for,' the quality didn't meet our expectations for this chain. Overall, we were left feeling very disappointed.

Been a while since I've been in the fairlop Oak. First time in 22 years,was the last time when I lived in the area. Dropped in after a running event today for breakfast. Value for money,great food and great service.

Food was lovely but when i queue for dessert i waited till i was next in line and a young lady walked in front of me to be served when i said excuse me im next the manager of this pub at the time told me to wait my turn how rude i was the next person to be served when i said i was he said well i serving this person now. 😡 when asked to speak to the manager it was him, he was so rude there was no apology he just said she hadn't paid for her drink thats why she jumped infront of me.

First time at this establishment with a friend. Found it very cosy and interesting. Staff was excellent bar very clean wiped down if any spillage. Nice outdoor garden and seating for meals. 10/10.
