Absolutely brilliant food and very lovely staff. A must visit!

There is bar/dining area upstair also which is where i sat. The bar and dancing area seperate to the dining area upstairs where I sat. The food was delicious and fresh with amazing flavours. The service by the waitress was also very helpful . I was delighted to meet the owner himself and he was gentlemen, whilst making me feel very welcome. The lounge also had entertainment such as karaoke which was being played downstairs on my visit. I would recommend the food. It was delicious my order was garlic naan, butter chicken, masala draws and pilau rice which all seemed to have hit the spot. 😋

Was invited here by friends to join a kareoke and after 5 minutes it was announced by the owner to order food and drinks to the value of upto £50 or get out

I ordered food on Wednesday 18th of September and that was my first experience ordering food from GK Lounge. And they certainly didn’t disappoint me. I ordered prawn, Indo Chinese Manchurian, Chilli garlic mogo and Baingan bharta. Their food was out of this world! I have been eating Indian food in this country and abroad, and I can say that GK Lounge’s food is amazing! Their food is so flavoursome and authentic. It’s unlike food commonly served in most Indian restaurant in this country. The restaurant is very accommodating to my individual request. I love hot spicy, and they delivered my request excellently. The prawn I ordered was WOW… aromatic, very tasty, clean, and just perfect. I will definitely order food from GK Lounge again and again. I am also planning to order food for special occasions. Simply put, one of the BEST!

We dined here for the very first time last week, and was pleasantly surprised by the live entertainment band. They were outstanding. The food was amazing, so much so we're boked here again next week with friends. The waitresses are so attentive and polite. Thank you Kash for turning this place around.

Food and service have improved from before,the new owners have done a good job, the food was delicious . Lovepreet k provided service with a smile. Jeeara chicken and paneer for a starter, bombay potatoes,lamb, and vegetable kofta in spinach for mains with naans and roti. The food was fresh, and the portions were a good size.

Food here is okay but they need to get singers that can sing on their live nights. Been a few times with mix feelings but it does seem to be more of a social central for the family and friends.

Very poor vocals from the entertainment. Volume was so loud that could chat with other people on table. The lambchops were hard and inedible. Jeera chicken was watery.... Butter chicken was plain Only decent time was methi chicken. Won't be going again

We ordered bunch of different dishes, most of them was very tasty and with authentic indian taste. The only issue was that the chicken lollipop was a bit raw, would avoid it next time, but other than that everything was nice.

We visted a few weekends ago where we were seated downstairs. We wasn't going to review, but alot of my colleagues agreed with us. The food is okay but this place seems to be packed out by family and friends who know the owners. They seem to be socialising amongst themselves rather than run a business. Shame as the service lacked due to this reason. Generally seemed like we were out of place in a restaurant for family and friends only. We prefer a more peaceful and relaxed evening rather than hearing loud conversations.

Amazing food ! I was totally taken back on how good it was! I would highly recommend GK - you will not be disappointed. Venue nice and clean too. It does get busy, so you may need to book. Bar area is small but they have additional rooms and weekly live entertainment and live sports. Pretty great place. Nice lager too - clean pipes :)

Very very poor management. If it is available minus review I’ll give that. Very very slow and poor service. Very lack of staff, even we have to wait for giving order. Hope they will change. I won’t come next time.

I attended with my family in a group of 7 people on Saturday evening. Having precisely attending back in March and highly recommending this restaurant to them with excitement. However the evening of Saturday 11th May, It was very disappointing, the student visa staff had no clue about customer service, the food arrived in small portions even though there were 7 of us. One plate of chips between a large group is rubbish, no common sense from robot staff. The alcoholic drinks took forever to come even though there is a bar on the restaurant floor. The fish pakora arrived stale which I knew for a fact was left in the kitchen for a long time. These were lovely back in March When we had a query about the food we just got told that we had to wait. Your staff also foolishly set off the fire alarm all because of the sizzling smoke from the kebabs. The bill at the end did not match the poor service and average food. Please bring back the old staff/chefs as they were really good. The music ambience was lazy with just a youtube playlist uploaded with no volume The manager on the night comes up to us at the end and asks us if everything is OK even though we kept pointing things out. Please sort things to how they were if you want to keep the good numbers you have, your one a of few apne places I trust to eat in East London. 1 out of 10

Used to come here a lot when it’s was gymkhana , menu has changed however some of the best food around , worth every penny highly recommended

Came on Monday. It was really relaxed and calm. Enjoyed karaoke. Drinks are a reasonable price. Lady on mic told me karaoke on Wednesday too. Unfortunately it was not! Football was on and the Guys wer so loud!! I came with hubby on a date nite 😪 no calm on any chance of a romantic vibe. Fish pakora nice. Butter chicken could of been better. I like my chicken proper punn shunn khe lolz. Seemed like chicken chucked into marinade... the masala never worked into the chicken. Cost us £25 per head ok poppadoms and salad should be on the house! Do want to try lamb byriani next time... ?

This place has recently been refurbished & under new management. Food was ok, nothing exciting Prices - was expensive but generally all food prices have gone up. Deco was ok.... Nothing to shout about. You kinda sit in rows like a canteen. Best part of the night was the male singer - he sang beautifully. A range of old classic Indian songs The lady singer was great also. Still has the 'old mans pub' atmosphere. Everyone knows everyone in there.... The customers are like friends & family..lol Service is all over the place.... The young girl seemed to know what she was doing but was running around & it was hard for us to grab someone to order more food & pay! The worst thing was, we asked twice for some mango chutney and two different waiters said ...'sorry we've run out', so we said ok. But then I ordered poppodoms as a takeaway & got some mango chutney plus salad & two more chutneys!

The food here is delicious. We also order takeaway. It's the best punjabi/Indian food locally in Romford area. They also have a DJ which is so much fun if you like music and dancing. On discount days the food is such great value.

We were initially hesitant to book this restaurant for an iftar dinner due to some negative reviews. However, we heard that the restaurant has been taken over by new management, so we decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise! We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service and have already visited twice. The staff is excellent, and the atmosphere is fantastic, especially with occasional live music upstairs. Overall, it offers great value for money, and we would definitely recommend it.

Didn't like it we ordered boneless chicken was given opposite! There was live singers today 12april 2000 hours music was very loud couldn't hear voice of singers hope setting was all over the place!! Previous group of singer musicians was spot on. Hope they improve 🙏

PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. THIS IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT.I visited today to experience old Gymkhana however I was told it is under new management. New management has done the place up to very good standards. However we ordered Achari chicken wings for starters which IS £9.99(6 small wings no taste) the worst tasteless dish therefore I tried to give the honest feedback to them to improve in future. However the lady who served was very understanding however the another lady came and spoke to the family very unprofessional manner. We requested to speak to the manager which she replied that nobody available. She ordered us to pay for your food ordered. No apology or thank you for the feedback.The venue made the whole family uncomfortable. When staff were informed that we were unhappy with the food, staff were rude and unable to satisfy our needs or provide a suitable replacement. Even the manager didn’t bother to speak to us to find out exactly what happened. He has been updated by the same rude lady. There are other nice places restaurants around Ilford please avoid this. 28/3/24: Response from Gymkhana is incorrect. 15% discount which was applied to all customers on Sundays. It is not just for us. Also replacement was offered once we paid the bill in full by the waitress who felt bad. Not at the time when we returned the food.

1st visit to this much loved Ilford bar/restaurant,since a total refurbished with new owners/management. Let's get straight to the point the mix grill is the best in this areas choice of similar venues.The lamb chops were very tender and with a mild spice,chicken tikka again moist n tender and with a different mild spice.Chicken wings and the Fish pakora lightly battered with very little seasoning but worked well with the whole dish. The main point is all the elements tasted slightly different and cooked to order. No pre cooked rubbery tikka or mutton chops here.Hopefully this is not just a one off and they continue to cook everything fresh.Beers like my favourite pint of Stella are on tap with all the live sky footie on the many screens.Beers are discounted during live games which is a great touch.Great bar staff with a rather lovely bubbly new landlady who made me and my group so welcomed.Cannot wait to return and try there curries.Great work and keep it up,, ps when told we could put our own music onto the sound system and was offered the remote it was impossible to select music and seemed very over complicated.Hopefully a more user friendly alternative can be found.

The food was good. A new guy has just taken over and its a vast improvement to the previous owners. Still a bit of ironing out to do.

Since ownership change this ISNT the same! Guinness has a horrible rank smell and taste. I have a severe coriander allergy and advised the staff of the same, requesting that any dishes for our table with coriander garnish free...staff "appeared" to listen...4 mins later lamb chops arrived covered in coriander. Apparently the issue is with the till not passing the allergy notes onto the kitchen, erm it's an allergy surely the staff can take the three steps from the till to the kitchen door and physically speak with the kitchen? Either that or at somepoint you'll risk someone's health! Then ordered some okra bhajia, it arrived all stuck together, unpicked it to discover a rather long black thread/hair in it! That's disgusting! Went to the kitchen to complain and was advised I couldn't enter the kitchen for hygiene reasons, of course thats entirely reasonable, if ANY OF THE KITCHEN STAFF ACTUALLY WORE OVERALLS, HAIR NETS AND MASKS! Based on this experience I'm severely disappointed and you've wrecked a great legacy! At Kash/Krish please sort this out, it's entirely unacceptable as a food venue anymore!

No. Just no. Place has been refurbished since i went there 15 years ago, seems like just the carpets have been changed, very nice! But the seating area, same tables and chairs that break your buttocks within 5mins of sitting. Menu printed on tracing or till roll receipt paper, covered in curry stains. Food very disappointing, burnt and bland mixed bhajias, friends had a meat starter and were not pleased. Atmosphere let down by the lack of renovation in the dining area. Live singers good, maybe a little too high on the volume. See you in 2040, maybe renovation 2.0 will be better and reach the kitchen for much needed improvement to flavouring of food.

Update: Went after many years the food wasn't fresh and felt like it had been precooked and just reheated. Food wasn't piping hot throughout within the mixed grill bit the nan and other starter were fresh and hence 2 stars or this would have definitely been a one start experience. Drinks took a while and had expected to have had the starter first but everything came out together. Good food and nice and quiet, but did go Monday night.

First of all the customer service was minimal. The restaurant is unhygienic and is next to a pub. The venue is uncomfortable. The waitress did not speak a word of English and did not know anything about the different drinks on the menu. When staff were informed that we were unhappy with the drinks, which contained an unknown spicy powder at the bottom of it, staff were rude and unable to satisfy our needs or provide a suitable replacement drink. We wasn't on the same page communication wise.

The best Indian Sports Bar/Restaurant in East London. The food is great, the drinks prices are reasonable and the owners are lovely.

8 of us turned up for dinner, ordering and service wasn't great took over 45 minutes for food to arrive, you have 2 hour time slot on the all you can eat buffet slot. However once the food finally arrived it was very good and would definitely go back again, albeit in smaller group

Been going here for over 10 years but for the past few years,, the prices increased and the food quality has gone down the drain. I'm not sure what happened but the food is now bland and tasteless and has been since before covid, either the chefs changed or they have cheaped out on recipes and portion sizes. We will not be returning again, very disappointed in the drop of quality.

Really nice small spot for a cheeky pint and a curry. Very family friendly. Definitely worth a visit. All you can eat for £18 as well! Can't go wrong! However, I personally did not see any disability access. So just a heads up, lots of stairs to get to the first floor! Correct me if I'm wrong!

Lady owner is aggresive and forceful. I was a regular at this place since Mr singh owned it. After my latest experience and reading the reviews i will not be coming back to this place. The lady owner has issues and is greedy for money, she charged us for a beer which was flat.

Just been ripped off for Mixed grill and tikka. Ordered mixed grill and tikka for delivery. Been going here for 10 years plus and have never had anything like this. The mixed grill was not even grilled but cooking in pan with masala. I am a former chef, so now my food. Very disappointed and will never order again. Waste of £40 plus

Been going to this place for food and drink for years. The owner paddy is a really nice chap but his wife is very rude and stuck up. One of the lads in our group ordered a beer and it was flat so we told the lady owner (kala, i think) and she refused to change the beer saying there is nothing wrong with it. I have been drinking beer for 40 odd years and i know what a flat beer is. We requested her to change the glass, she refused again and walked off. Such a shame as paddy is a top bloke. If she carrys on being rude and bossy to customers they will loose alot of regulars! There are other bars and restaurants in the area which people will move too.

Good tasty food at reasonable prices. Disappointed that they no longer do the fixed price buffet. However they do give a 25% discount on the final bill.

Been a patron of this venue for many years. Shocked that they have recently started serving smaller portions (less than half full) at full price after abolishing the popular all-you-can eat menu. Asked to speak to owner who was not accommodating in any way. Poor show by a local establishment that relies on local custom.

Wow what amazing food, flavoursome well spiced and reasonably priced. Service was impeccable from the bar to the restaurant. It was my 1st visit to gymkhana, when I reach the top of the stairs I was greeted by a bar with friendly local people. All in all a brilliant vibe. If I had to pick on fault the plates could do with being bigger :)
