The New Crown in Enfield

TOO NOISY A few old men at the front of the pub sitting drink beers and talking very loud. The whole pub can here them. They do not care. What do they talk about? Rubblish. Not even football. Come and hear for yourselves. Is it worth coming to this pub?

I've not been here for years. As soon as I walked in, I could tell it had been busy. There were plenty of empty tables but still filled with plates and glasses. I got a drink pretty quick, but you could see the staff were rushed. I managed to find a clear table and then ordered my food and a second pint. The food was as expected as were the prices. The place started filling up again shortly after I got there. When I left, there were still only two staff members there, one trying to do the bar, the other delivering food and clearing tables. If this carries on, I'm not sure they'll be there soon, as who would want to work in those conditions.

Absolute rubbish meal very greasy, no napkins available to wipe your hands with. Beer is cloudy and the bar is full of unwashed empty glasses.

Very poor, the toilets were disgusting, the food was terrible and a vast majority of the ales were not available. Service was very poor and tables not cleared. How they continue to remain in business is beyond me.

Awful. The pub was two thirds empty, but it was impossible to have a conversation due to groups of travellers shouting at each other at the tops of their voices. Almost all the house ales were off, and the food was half cold. This pub appears to need a management makeover as soon as possible. Not a pleasant environment in any way.

They have no kitchen but the app says food they allow travellers in the pub but disregard there regular customer who have all gone else where. I would AVOID at all cost pls go somewhere else.

Had an evening meal here two night on the trot, both were fine the drinks were good and both drinks and meals for under £20 for two. Plenty of seating and the staff were polite and sociable. The gents toilets could do with a good clean, but other than that no problem

Absoutley beyond disgusted with this pub and management here! I've been coming here for years and over the last 6 months the service and quality here has been awful. With new management come the loss of the best bar staff I've seen in this place over 12 years! Place is a shambles now! I've heard the new manager jasmine belittle her staff and make comments about others (staff and customers) to other members of staff. Horrible frosty atmosphere there and unfortunately will be looking for a new local!

The staff are leaving in there droves. The manager jasmine does not have a clue how to a run pub. I would like to point out that my partner and I have been coming here for years. I personally think this pub needs someone a lot older with far more experience. To run this place.

This is JD Wetherspoons, so, when visiting you can be immediately assured of good fundamental quality and excellent value for money. I just want to say "Thank you" for how amazing and accommodating all of the staff were. At the bar, whilst I was waiting for the beer barrel to be changed, all of the other staff on hand, were checking that I was okay to wait. There was an issue, where a special on one of the meals was cheaper to order than the regular meal deal and one of the guys made sure that the manager issued a refund ...and the lady who brought the food over had such a warm and welcoming smile, that she so too happy to provide excellent customer service. The New Crown is a bright light in the Wetherspoons chain. Highly recommended.

Good price for drinks , very cheap , I know that you can’t expect much from waterspons , but this place needs refurbished, is just ugly .

I came here with my autistic son , the staff are really friendly and the food was great ( 2 X-Large breakfasts) inc free tea / coffee refills , the staff member that served us was a lady called Meghan she really made us feel welcome 👌, we will be returning Thankyou Meghan your a cracking ambassador for Wetherspoons

This is the best run Spoons in the area, the staff are very friendly and they have the usual great selection of food and drink, toilets are on the same level as the bar, mind you, it is need of a refurbished 😳

It´s a nice place to take a beer. The best thing is that the bar is a free mobile, laptop and other electronic things. You have to talk with your friends.

We did not eat just hace drinks at the PUB and we have nothing to complain about. They seem to have an extensive menu and some day ia week some Indian specialities avalable. A lot of people and reasonable pricing.

Breakfast and coffee the best I have...nice American style pancakes and lavazza coffee for only 3.40

Just what one has come to expect from this cheapie. I believe the chips are counted. The fish is nice,but salad is bland. If you can afford a few extra pounds,elsewhere,go!

Visité para el desayuno, pagó por la comida a las 10: 11 y no llegó hasta las 10: 41. Cuando llegó la comida, ambos desayunos estaban fríos, los huevos congelados, los champiñones fríos y los frijoles, tostadas, etc.Fui al bar a quejarme, el gerente desapareció rápidamente por la parte de atrás con unas tazas dejando a la chica que había servido la comida para venir a hablar conmigo. Le expliqué que habiendo esperado 30 minutos por la comida no esperaba que estuviera fría como la piedra. Ella sugirió que obtuviéramos nuevos desayunos, pero no pudimos esperar otros 30 minutos para otro plato de comida potencialmente decepcionante. Le pedí que enviara mis comentarios al gerente, ella me prometió que lo haría, pero a pesar de que nos sentamos en el bar durante otros 15 minutos intentando comer un desayuno frío, el gerente no vino a hablar con nosotros, ni una disculpa, el reconocimiento del pobre cliente servicio - nada He comido aquí regularmente en el pasado, pero no volveré por comida aquí después de esta experiencia.

CHEAP AND CHEERFUL, I highly recommend the £8.70 pitchers, Long Island iced tea all the way! ! ! Tutti fruity on the side ;)....

On entering the pub there was a overwhelming unpleasant odour. I couldn’t decide if it was due to body odour or the smell from unclean carpet. I ordered burger and chips, the burger was dry and tasteless and the eight chips on the plate was measly. On the positive side, the staff looked very hardworking, was very helpful and service quick.

Wir waren sowohl zum Frühstück als auch abends dort. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Frühstück und Abendessen zu guten Preise. Burger und Pizza lecker. Das Essen kam auch jeweils recht schnell, sogar am Freitag Abend. Viele Biersorten und auch hier gute Preisen

Visited yesterday evening with a group of friends. Busy but pleasant and as always great value for money.

Popped in for the classic “Spoons” for a lovely” Pete Murray” (Curry) on their Thursday Curry night.

Nuestro entrenador se detuvo allí ayer en ruta al fútbol en West Ham. Solo 2 empleados detrás del bar, pero muy eficientes y educados, ¡especialmente el caballero con barba y gafas! . Buena variedad de cervezas de verdad (9) y muy baratas, especialmente para Londres (¡la más barata era 1.89!) La comida que pedimos era muy buena, aunque pedimos en la aplicación y tuvimos que esperar bastante (40 minutos). La gente en nuestra mesa que ordenó en el bar consiguió su comida mucho más rápido. El lugar es bastante grande y espacioso.

Took some elderly visitors for a mid-week lunch. One wheelchair user had no problem with access. Had the ribs - all good and hot. A tasty good value meal.

Took some Americans here for Sunday breakfast. They wanted “Full English “ We loved it, especially the coffee with free refills. Keep up the good work.

Visited whilst working in the area, range of real ales and decent quality food served quickly. Only grumble is that mash at bottom of plate was slightly burnt, but for the price you can't really complain. Will return.

Visited the crown (weatherspoons) on a Wednesday night 5 days before Xmas

I honestly can not fault this wonderful place to have food and drinks witb family and friends.

Wetherspoons chain. Prices are the same as nationally so good value for London. Went for option with coffee included - free refills. Food of a reasonable quality.

Solíamos cenar en este pub, ya que era nuestro favorito para el bien, comida de pub a un precio razonable. Sin embargo, ya no es el King's Crown, más está bajo nueva dirección, ha sido rebautizado como el nuevo de la Corona, tiene un menú totalmente diferente (ya no pueden conseguir de salmón, que era una de las principales comidas usamos a la orden), y no es un hotel muy limpio. Deberíamos haber conseguido y a la izquierda después del primer bocado de nuestras comidas. El pollo era una especie de mejunje golpeados y mi cerdo desmenuzado estaba empapado en salsa de barbacoa y extremadamente difícil. Qué decepción enorme.

Visited with a group of friends. Sampled most of the large range of guest ales which were in top condition and reasonably priced. We all had steaks which were great value and cooked to order .Large open plan pub . Probably overdue a refurb. Are you listening Wetherspoon.

It has the usual Wetherspoon value for money and pleasant, friendly staff.The customers seem to be a better class of people than in most Wetherspoon pubs.The food is quite good as well. Wetherspoon kitchens tend to vary in quality from pub to pub and this is one of the better ones.All in all I had an enjoyable evening here. I will definitely visit again.

A typical Wetherspoons, was once a supermarket or shop of some kind and is very deep from front to back. It can there fore feel a bit dark the deeper you get int the property.Th usual fare and selection of beers, which guest ales etc, but service at the bar can often be a bit slow as this can be a busy place. Once ordered the food is usually served quickly and is of good standard. been here a number of times as it does what Wetherspoons say on there tin.

Large, open plan pub, close to station. Beers usually up to scratch, friendly staff. On my last visit, I asked if it was ok to "customise" my gourmet burger (substitute onion rings for something else) and the manager was patient and helpful.

The only problem with this Spoons is that there isn't a pub garden, apart from that it is a good standard Spoons.

If the staff pull themselves away from polishing the pumps, bottling up and loafing about, you might get to taste one of their very tasty real ales.I like the pub because I'm hearing impaired so appreciate a pub with no music or tv noise.I love the beer, there appeared to be plenty of staff (late saturday nights) but could have died waiting to get served, someone should train the staff to serve first then do whatever.... instead the staff seem quite content to fiddle about behind the bar and totally oblivious to the fact there are people dying of thirst.Best to order two rounds at the same time.... I drank one pint while waiting for my change

Nothing amazing but Beer is always good and reasonably priced. Food is fine nothing amazing.. great place to get tanked up and meet with mates.. would go again but not a place to take a date lol

Good selection of fresh beers and food at very good prices. This is the pub I come to most often. The customers are mostly old men like me and students. I wouldn't come here on a date but for a drink with your mates and a cheap meal its fine.

I had the mixed grill just cooked lovely to my taste and would say any one in this area to visit this place

I am writing this review out of a painful experience. I treated my brother and his family to a meal on Father's day. The adults ordered a burger which includes a drink and the kids had their Kids Meal. We ordered a Original Gourmet Chicken Burger with grilled Chicken which was good. The Texan Burger with the Chili Con Carne was poor, because it was tasteless and my Original Gourmet Chicken Burger with Buttermilk Crust was terrible today.The oil was dripping from the burger when I lifted it from the plate and it was luke warm. The chips was soggy and the Onion Rings which comes as side with the burgers was soaked in oil. I didn't want to complaint, because I had the same burger a couple of days ago and it was great. Kids had chicken Nuggets with Mashed Potato and Peas. The portion of the Mashed Potato was a laugh ... it was only 3 table spoon. The lady at the till was not motivated too. I think I should better checked who is working in the kitchen the next time to spare me any painful experience. Since this meal my bath become my second home. :'(I have read some reviews from other people and they are right ... the tables are not always wiped after they empty the tables. Staff are moody,except for this Irish guy and another one.

I'm writing this review out of pure frustration- I only come here a couple of times a month when I'm in the area, as I like the choice of real ales! It is an absolute nightmare to get served here - they always seem to be short staffed, or the staff they have are walking around at a snails pace dragging their feet on the floor - the only good member of staff is the Irish guy, he's quick, can do more than one thing at a time and has a personality!!Empty glasses, dirty tables, empty crisp packets are the norm here, you rarely see anyone picking up glasses or cleaning tables - bring your own cloth if you want a clean table. One Sunday we were here and there was an empty table with several glasses and dirty plates next to us for over an hour The men's toilets are generally disgusting and unusable at times Such a shame that standards don't seem to matter to this pubIf it wasn't for the real ale, I would never go here !

I had the best stake and kidney pie in here, a wonderful place to taste England with a nice beer in your hands!

Today I visited the new crown in Southgate at 6pm, it's a lovely pub but as you would expect at this time it's busy with people finishing work and wanting to spend their hard earned cash. Unfortunately there was only one member of staff serving - she was moving very slow too - which lead to much frustration amongst the customers waiting for some service. I generally like weatherspoons but this venue is very poor as it never has enough staff on during busy times - I guess it's a money saving ploy so my advice is to avoid the new crown if you possibly can! Tim, your customers want to give you their hard earned cash but it's becoming increasingly difficult in the new crown, Southgate!

We had a good evening meal here a few weeks ago. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is served fast and is quite wholesale. I enjoyed it as it no fuss and quick. Service was good and friendly. I will visit again.

Went to The New Crown three times over the weekend while visiting friends. The staff were polite and helpful. The drinks were fine and the food (Fish and Chips/Sunday Roast) were excellent. The Sunday Roast in particular was top notch. Great value, fantastic portions. Many thanks.

I had a first date in The New Crown as I knew it was a relaxed place with cheap but wonderful food and drink.Our waitress was Steph Bee. She was awesome and very attentive. Very friendly and made our first date very pleasant. She's a real asset to The New Crown A++++

Been here a couple of times and would not normally review a pub, but thought the need to. The service here is generally poor, except for two of the guys in here - you can wait ages to get served, even when bar is quiet. You are quite often served your pint in different glasses, I.e Guinness served in a cider glass, carlsberg served in kronenberg glass etc. basically some of the staff are just not interested - food as expected is tasteless and tables are always dirty.I know it's a weatherspoon and what do you expect , but this is just basic service requirements and don't cost anything to do.

My friend and I are going there for breakfast mornings. In the past it happened occassionly that the bacon are to dry, fried egg overcooked and bread are burned. Staff there are not using their common sense to serve, they just grab the plate and off they went... even when they can see the burned bread. Maybe the tried to get away with it. ^^Today the Baked Beans in Tomato sauce tasted sourly and I think it has gone off. When I arrived home I headed for the bathroom. :'(I think I am gone off to have breakfast there for a while.

Visited on Sunday afternoon. The pub was very busy but me and my family were served quickly and our food arrived promptly. The staff member who served me was very polite and helpful and I would definitely recommend this pubWill be visiting again !!!

he attitude is the customers are secondary to the business and if you dont like it,Bxgger Off.The beer is substandard mostly,the food is cold and quality is a joke.Honest staff are worked WAY beyond expectations, the manageress is full of it and the customer experience is what suffers. Drink somewhere else; You will never get value for money in this place,you will only be told if you dont like it go somewhere else.

Does what is says on the tin - good selection of real ale which is usually of a good standard.Food cheap and cheerful.The bar staff were efficient and friendly, the pub had a pleasant clientele and was clean.Would visit again.

We love The New Crown we go nearly everyday for our breakfast.The quality of food is excelent always well cooked & hot, the coffee is the best in the area.All of the staff are always friendly & welcomingI would sometimes like to eat in the evening but unfortunatley the steaks are seasoned & too spicey for my taste.Despite this we will continue to frequent this friendly pub.

If you're looking for value for money, great tasting food, and friendly staff, I would never hesitate to recommend you to go to The New Crown whetherspoons! Having a food intolerance, I was so grateful for the attentiveness of staff who where so helpful in making me aware of the food options on their menu that I could eat. Great favourite of mine, if you're ever near by, go in for a drink, or even lunch, I can assure you you won't be disappointed!

Me and a friend had a very beautiful meal when we visited the pub, I had a steak with jacket potato and my friend had fish and chips. We cannot fault the meal at all. It came incredibly quick, was cooked exactly how we asked and the staff were lovely as well. I 100% had a good experience and will definitely be visiting again and would recommend to anyone

I would like to start off by saying that I always give a restaurant a chance or two, however with this place, as an exception I gave it three.I'm trying really hard to find some positives on this one however I'm tired of racking my brain so I'll just summarise it;On one visit the tough sinuous steak was complimented wonderfully by the stink of stale urine wafting from the filthy toilets. Upon another the lumps of fat and gristle in the burgers lodged themselves so perfectly between my teeth, it took 20 minutes of concentrated picking to set myself free. On my final visit on one of their special curry nights it turned out to be less of a dream and more of a shrivelled nightmare. I have enjoyed chicken hero at 4 o'clock in the morning from the local petrol station more than I enjoyed eating at this establishment.It also appears to be a lottery on what manager and team one gets on any given day. However in my experience only once I had a reasonable meal which was served well in a clean environment.So if you're looking for somewhere to have a drink and don't mind standing at the bar for a while this is the place for you.

Popped in about 3.30 for quick bite ordered 2 large wines an 8oz rump which came with peas tomato chips and mushroom the wife said it was a good steak I had a burger with added chicken came with chips and onion rings burger also had fried egg in now if you took the burnt onion rings off and what they try to pass as chicken it would have been 5 stars but the chicken was awful some sort of bio modified piece of crap seemed pressed together and had large lumps of gristle yuk! So have the burger without chicken! Shame as under £20 all in very cheap

Being a Wetherspoons pub, The New Crown is a no frills venue which offers good value food and drinks and TV screens to watch sport.Specific daily food and drink specials attract the crowds and this pub always seemed to be packed, particularly with a lot of locals whose "local" it is. Not the sort of place you would go on a first date or for romance or ambience, but if you are on a budget you can't go past it.

This place is one of the worst pubs I have been in in a long time. The staff are so unfriendly and have no concept of who is next in line to be served. They all seem to be wearing blinkers and only serve the people directly in front of them. The cleanliness of the pub is appalling. The tables are never cleaned properly and always have a sticky residue on them with empty glasses everywhere. The tiled floor at the bar is the same, when you are standing waiting to be served your feet are sticking to the floor. It could definitely do with a good scrub. Whoever is responsible for the management of the place should be removed. I would not recommend this pub, there are better places to spend your money.

Well what can I say, this wasn't what it was. The cellar man has gone and ales now no where near as good, and the food is awful. Stone cold and no where near as good as what it was. My husband and I now go elsewhere where there are more friendly polite staff.

We ate at the New Crown in Southgate, and throughly enjoyed the food and beer. There are great daily specials that are very reasonably priced.

As Wetherspoons go it is one of the bigger ones. Was previously a Sainsbury's, which means that the pub is all on one level and consequently offers good access for wheelchairs. Offers standard Wetherspoon fare but has its own local charm and is close to local amentities as well as Southgate tube station.
