This pub is glorious. Jess, Adam and the staff team are the tightest of tight-knit bands. They've all got each other's backs, and new staff become part of the team and "get" the culture in the blink of an eye - it must be infectious! The beers are lovely. The food is home-cooked magic. In summer, the walled garden is a sun-dappled sanctuary from the bustle of life. In winter, the twinkling lights and open fires warm the soul. We love the New Bowling Green!!!

Every time we visit my son and daughter in law in Warwick they take us to their favourite local and it has become ours too. The staff are so welcoming and do their utmost to give you a really nice time. The atmosphere is wonderful- we were there for the semi final of the World Cup and for carols in the garden at Christmas and lots of other times and have enjoyed their delicious food every time especially the pies!

We celebrated my husbands 40th here on Saturday evening, as a party of 14. We pre ordered a week before which helped loads and made the evening go smoothly. Jess is very good at communicating so all was very straight forward. I took a cake and balloons up before hand and Bethan the Manageress was excellent at sorting all that for me that evening. The food came out all together and everything was very tasty and the service was fantastic. Thanks again for helping organise another lovely evening with you.

Just to say a massive Thank you to the fabulous team at The Bowling Green as it was my first visit and had a fabulous time outside in the garden with friends and new friends after the Leamington Pride ..🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 Although Bethan wasn’t on duty she was still looking after everyone and the food which was prepared by the fabulous Bart which was mmmmm soooo good as the halloumi fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which is how they should be ..👌👌 I also had the broccoli wings in crispy batter ..the food came out to the table hot and with a speedy service after ordering with Mackenzie and then also had to mention Rianna as she was also there and made me feel so welcome as both of them looked so happy to help ..🙏🙏

The Sunday roasts looked great with a nice variety of veg. Neither of us have large appetites but a Sunday roast sounded too tempting. We chose the small version. We were so disappointed to be served a couple of chicken drumsticks, two roast potatoes, a small ball of stuffing and a very small Yorkshire pudding and some gravy. We didn't expect a lot but we did expect the ingredients on the menu.

Such a shame as after reading reviews we were very much looking forward to a great Sunday lunch. Out reserved table had three chairs for four of us so we had to wait a few minutes to be seated and then due to the nature of the floors the table was very wonky and we had to ask for it to be stabilised to avoid spilling drinks etc. this is all ok other than we’d booked so this should have been sorted beforehand. Pork lunch was good so two of us happy (they only had 2 portions left at 1.15pm) but the beef is cooked overnight so no chance of a lovely rare slice - just a slab of dry (albeit good quality before it was overcooked) meat along with overcooked veg and something resembling cauliflower but not too sure? Crumble was delicious but not what was advertised (again had run out of some fruit). A shame as it’s nearly there but does t quite hit the spot. One super efficient member of staff who has been there a while but if you don’t get her you struggle with the pleasant but not that efficient others. Too many other places in Warwick to choose from to risk visiting again sadly.

Accomodated us at very short notice (within an hour and a half) with a dog on a Saturday evening, impressive to start. Parking, non existent outside the pub but if you head around to St Nicholas Park, you can walk through to the back of the pub garden, about 30 seconds walk. The venue had a wedding party so it was very busy and as it was a beautiful evening, they had all congregated in the garden (which also had ample seating). We had a lovely table in a cosy area reserved, staff were very bright & bubbly and took our drinks order very quickly. We couldn't believe how reasonably priced the main menu was, and some of the food, a lovely alternative to the mundane pub food we usually see, I would definitely recommend the ploughman's or the chicken skewers! So refreshing to see how much of the food was genuinely homemade, and made very well too! We couldn't resist dessert, they too were all homemade and delicious! This place and it's staff deserve a 5* review, what an absolute gem!

Went for after work drinks with colleagues, if it smells like a pub and it looks like a pub then it is a pub, I mean it is a ye olde style country pub with all the smells and century old walls and furniture but also with zero pretentious people and nice selection of beers, food and wine. Will certainly recommend. The only drawbacks are its size: in winter it is difficult to accommodate large groups. 22 of us took over half of the place, and lack of parking.

We had the best experience here today and will definitely be returning! We booked to visit Warwick castle light trail as a Xmas family treat and decided last minute to book somewhere for a late lunch. Being a group of 9 we were not expecting many options for food however they fit us in. When we arrived we had a lovely cosy little area to ourselves and from the moment we walked in we were greeted with the most excellent customer service. The staff were so attentive and were very friendly with our 3 young children. Then there was the food!! Wow! Everything was freshly made and just the type of comfort food you look for this time of year. 5 out of 6 adults had the lamb cobbler which tasted amazing! So much flavour! The only thing that was missing was a wedge of crusty bread to lap up the scraps at the bottom of the pot! My partner had the marinated pan fried chicken and he said it was the yummiest meal he has had in a while and hasn’t stopped going on about it. The childrens menu was typical for a normal pub menu but we were surprised to see a mini lamb cobbler as a child’s option! The kids chose fish fingers and chips and the macaroni cheese which was all really good quality for children’s meals. They too thoroughly enjoyed their food. We all had puddings which were all delicious and all plates were left clean! We will definitely be returning very soon!

Simply put, this is the best pub in Warwick. The welcome is always warm, the family who own and the people who work here are friendly, polite and go out of their way to get to know you. The food is excellent, proper home cooked nosh, presented well, good portions and proper tasty! The fish pie is the best I've eaten out. There's a good choice of beers, with some of the brewery's new brews on rotation. The people serving actively seek feedback about both the food and beer, keen to know if everything is up to scratch, it always is. Families and dogs are welcome, thought is very obviously put into making everyone welcome. There's a big beer garden for sunny days and a fire for colder spells. This is a tough one to write. We really wanted to have a lovely meal to catch up with each other. The service was painfully slow. Everything had to be chased up. That said, the starter was lovely. We both had the Scotch egg. For mains, we both had lamb cobbler. It was tasty but I think I got the last portion out of the slow cooker as it was very low on meat compared to my husbands portion. Then we had pudding.... this is when it really went downhill. We both had cheesecake. We were about to tuck in when we noticed the rim was completely mouldy with blue mould. We quietly raised the issue to not cause a big uproar to be told it was normal?! It was a raspberry cheesecake. Raspberries are not blue and furry, in patches on the edge of food. We asked for the bill which again we had to chase to pay and to add insult to injury, the staff were eating the mouldy cheesecake behind the bar as we left!!! Such a shame.

After booking the back function room for a Wedding for 2 days (the wedding day and the day before to 'set up') with less than 2 weeks notice we found out that they had double booked and cancelled on us. Has Nick the Landlord any idea what kind of stress that is going to have on any couples memorable day!? Have you any idea how hard it is with such short notice to find anything at all available. Most venues being booked up for at least a year! Thanks Nick, nice one. This was in July this year and moreover the only reason we discovered this total f**k up is because we phoned to check on the arrangements!
