We were at a seventieth birthday celebration, staff were super helpful, nice environment, didn't sample the food, good for private functions as well as a nice pub, parking always a positive!

We had a fab 40th Birthday Party at The Neville, everyone was so helpful and friendly and had locket attitudes… nothing was a problem. Nice & easy to get access to set up & clear down after the event. A special mention to Neil and Alice for their fab service in the evening, they were friendly, professional and attentive to our guests and our needs. Many Thanks to all the staff & team Paul & Katy

We hired this pub for my parents birthday party and we’re very happy with it, lovely function room and a beautiful garden. Great value to.

Great roast potatoes. The lamb shank was great as were the veg and lamb gravy. Beef unfortunately was a bit tough and chewy and gravy a little thin (for our preference). Yorkshires were yummy and cauliflower cheese (extra) was a nice addition to the plate.

The best roast pork I’ve had in ages. Excellent Sunday roast. Very friendly staff. Good to have sight of the open kitchen. Large portions but couldn’t resist eating it all . Thank you.

It was cold the chicken was dry no stuffing which you expect with chicken and it wasn’t in the bag but all over the place as the bag had desentegraded and it was handed to me all separately .. disappointed not up to the usual Neville standard especially as with delivery it was £25 !

I celebrated my Birthday and my daughter’s birthday there. Everyone was lovely and really supportive and nothing looks like too much trouble for them and kindly helped us with everything! We had a great time and Im looking forward to keep celebrating my birthday here!

Sadly the Yorkshires were dry, hard and burnt. Chicken was dry. Food was barely warm when it arrived and the taste was quite bland, unless drenched in the gravy. There was only one or 2 carrot slices in the children's meals. Wasn't really much of a variety of veg. Overall it was quite disappointing. A lot of money spent on 5 meals and not much of those eaten 😔

Unfortunately the food quality was very poor and delivered to me in damaged containers. Cauliflower cheese sauce had spilled out everywhere leaving overcooked cauliflower and spilt cheese. Container with meat and veg had opened and was spilling out, overcooked veg and pickled red cabbage (pickled veg does not belong on a roast dinner) yorkshire pudding was very doughy and the gravy was extremely thin. Roast potatoes very salty. The only edible thing was the roast beef, very disappointing

The staff were great behind the bar. We hired the venue for a baby shower. We were permitted to decorate the room, with streamers and balloons. Arranged our food. Stick photos to walls with bluetak.

We hired the function room for my Mum’s 60th birthday - all the staff were so lovely and accommodating and we had a great night. They provided a great spread of all the classic party nibbles too.

I have eaten here in excess of 50 times and have never had a bad meal. The staff are polite, friendly and approachable. The roast dinners are off the planet brilliant. I read a review recently that said there was only a choice of one dinner, this simply isn’t true. I’ve had beef, chicken, pork (lovely crackling) and occasionally lamb shank when it’s on as a special. We normally have a side order of pigs in blankets. There’s also extra roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. Believe me you will do well to finish it. We recently had a family roast at the Nevill. 12 of us thoroughly enjoyed the food which was piping hot. Oh, the gravy is absolutely beautiful. I’ve asked many times how it’s made but John won’t tell me lols. Can’t recommend the roast enough . I’ll pop a copy of the menu up.

Ruined the memory of my birthday A delayed review, but after much consideration, people need to be warned about booking any type of function here. I made the huge mistake of booking my birthday party to be held at the nevill pub, Hove. Upon first meeting, the pub owner couldn’t have been more nice, helpful and seemed as though nothing was too much trouble. If I had known then what I know now I would have avoided this place and bar owner at all costs. On the eve of the party I lost a lot of guests to the bar next door, this is because only 1 bar tender was behind the bar for a party of 80 guests even though I was promised at least 2 to avoid this problem. The reason I was given the next day was that the other bar tender was unwell, yet the bar owner himself made no effort to come and cover the amount of people that were at the party, and instead didn’t turn up to the pub once all night. I paid an obscene amount of money for the pub to provide the food for the party. Only a third of the food was actually provided to the party. We even had to ask for plates / serviettes. Only 1 toilet was working during the night which also caused problems. Over half of my guests clothes were covered in white paint after the party, this is because there were no signs up to inform us that there was wet paint on the walls. Suits / dresses were covered and guests were not happy. The following day myself and my husband went back to clear the decorations. I was told by the bar owner when I booked to ask for the deposit back that I paid after the party. I asked for the bar owner and again he was nowhere to be seen and was told he’s far too busy in the kitchen and to ring him. The next day I rang to ask for the deposit back, he said it’s all gone through and will be in my bank shortly. After 7 weeks of chasing I finally got it back. After speaking to many many people who have had functions at the Nevill in the past all said exactly the same thing. The deposit is promised back but every one of those people confirmed they needed to charge and chase for at least 6 weeks. After having a conversation with family i was made aware of the food situation and that only a third of the promised and paid for food (over £500) made its way out to the party. I hadn’t seen any of it on the night as I was too busy with guests / dancing etc. When I emailed the bar owner to query this he said the food I had paid for was made, but 15 platters were left in the kitchen because nobody ASKED for them to be brought out. Now I’m sorry but what party has anyone been to where they had to ask for more food to come out. Number 1, guests don’t know what food the host has asked for so wouldnt ask for more food. That just wouldn’t happen. Number 2, if someone has paid over £500 for a bar to provide a buffet for their party, it is their responsibility to provide the paid for food, this isn’t down to any guests. Number 3, guests would not be allowed to just walk into the kitchen to collect platters. The reason they weren’t brought out is simply because there wasn’t the staff to do this. Nobody was there apart from 1 bar tender in the bar next door and the 1 bar tender at my party. The bar owner was nowhere to be seen. Surely if there were 15 platters left in the kitchen after the party, it is their duty to offer these to me to take home at least as I had paid for them. Not once was this offered to me and not once did anyone make me aware of this the next day when I went back. I never got any money back from the pub owner for this, he just argued and argued for weeks about how it was my guests that should have asked for more food. I know this is a long review but people deserve to know the truth and to be made aware of these types of things before booking a function at the nevill and potentially ruining their parties. This is a 100% factual review of events and I have all evidence on my phone, of people’s clothes with paint all over them, and I have emails upon emails between myself and bar owner of the excuses given and his attitude which was miles away from the friendly, helpful person I was presented with when I booked the party. That’s convenient. My advice, book at your own risk of having your parties ruined.

We visited one sunday as we heard the roast dinners were worth a try. First up,drinks..£3.60 for a pint of coke !! omg .. I actually thought id heard wrong when i was told it as nearly 8 quid for 2 pints of coke..Absolutely shocking !! Then we saw the 'menu' if u can call it that as it only had one meal on it ! £16.99 for roast beef with a yorkshire and a smattering of veg.The prices of the extras just floored me.. Cauliflower cheese £4.80.. and extra roast potatoes £5.00 .. So by the time youve added that up it comes to nearly £27.00 each !! Absolutely disgraceful pricing,the owner should be made to wear a hat and mask like Dick Turpin,if he wants to rob his customers.. Nearly £50 for 2 meals,which i could have got ingredients for half the price at the supermarket and cooked myself.. The ladies toilet was leaking and the water was running across the floor..Oh and then taking into account the foul mouthed 'gentlemen' at the bar commenting on the females in there,id say avoid like the plague.. We went elsewhere for our food which was delicious and a fraction of the price,and a pint of coke certainly wasnt £3.60 either.. A menu with just one meal on it,outrageous pricing,leaky toilets and questionable clientele,id say save your money and go elsewhere. The owner should be ashamed of himself,charging all that for a meal and couldnt even fix a leaky loo !! Shambles of a place,avoid avoid avoid

We visited this lovely pub/restaurant yesterday for Sunday lunch. We Sat outside with the dog and enjoyed a bottle of wine and 4 delicious roasts. The food was absolutely amazing and certainly one of the best roasts we have had before with everything being made fresh and from scratch. Chef even came out to say hello which was lovely. The service was superb and friendly and the pub is clean and nicely decorated. We would definitely recommend!!

Been here a couple of times. Staff are always pleasant and friendly. Think they should rename the pub to The Moon as there is no atmosphere or people!

Came in not too long ago for a quick drink and a burger before my day and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of my food and the service that came with it! I was served by a younger lad named Kuba who made me feel very welcome and made sure my meal and drink were fine. My halloumi burger was far better than what I was expecting for a pub which put a smile on my face. Overall very happy with my visit to this pub. I will most definitely come again to try more of the menu!

We had tea at the Neville .The meals were very good. The chef Patrick came to our table a number of times to check everything was good. He was very friendly and accommodating as was John the landlord. All in all we had a very pleasant evening.

Absolutely superb! Probably the best roast dinner I’ve ever eaten, me and my children thoroughly enjoyed it. It is slightly pricey but it’s worth it! The chef was lovely and he called me to ask what desserts we would like and to double check our order. I will recommend to family and friends and I will definitely order again. Thank you 😊

Really nice pub tucked right out the way. The garden is amazing as its warming up. Check it out, they have a really good beer range with Neck Oil on tap.

The Neville is a great spot, it's a bit out of the way and generally quite empty, having said that, the locals and regulars are gems and great for conversation

My family hired the function room at the Nevill to celebrate the life of a family member. The staff were very helpful in advising us about catering and organising the event. We had access to the garden where the kids to play in safety. The day was brilliant and everybody had a fabulous time. Can't praise the venue enough.

Nice nice size room was at party here at weekend jane the barmaid did a brilliant job keeping up with the demand of the party gusset when asking her if she was getting help she said no think it was such a shame she was left to do a job of 2 people and although she did her best i think the pub missed out on doubing there profits that night! As my group definitely did not drink the amount we would normally drink on a night out !

Had a wonderful day at The Nevill, booked the function room for my Dads 90th Birthday. Jon was really helpful with sorting buffet, food was great and the staff on the day were amazing. Had use of garden to put up bouncy castle which with around 15 kids was a godsend. Cannot recommend the venue enough.

Came here for friends bday meal , there was around 12 of us. It was very busy. All ordered mixture of food, roasts, fish and chips, Shepard’s pie etc. The service was chaotic , a drinks order took very long to arrive as did some extra cheese. One of the waitresses was excellent seemed to be the only one who knew what she was doing. The other staff forgot stuff when asked . Asked for some cheese three times . Finally asked the good waitress who sorted it. Understand it was busy but service needs improving . Food was tasty and large portions

We live just down the road so thought it was high time to test out the nearest Sunday roast (aside from my own). We were not disappointed. I was thrilled to see a three meat roast on the menu. It was very tasty overall. I really liked seeing the kitchen at work too.

Food was basic but have never paid £13.60 for 1 pint of Harvey's 1 white wine spritzer Very dissapointed not my kind of pub.

The best roast dinner I have ever had. Everything was cooked and served to perfection. Lovely homemade yorkshire pudding. Bar tender was lovely, dog friendly, pool table outside which was great! Really large, well kept garden with loads of out door seating! Great for large group events/ gatherings and totally enclosed. Plenty of parking. Didn’t have food but they have Smirnoff espresso martinis on draft and seltzers which were great! Would love to go again for the roast on a Sunday. :)

We had our 25th wedding anniversary here, it was well managed and well staffed. The pub is a great place for a quick pint or a great meal. I can't thank them enough for the letting Us put our party on there.

Weekend visit to friends that took us here for Sunday lunch. Wow, I can honestly say it is the best roast dinner I've ever eaten in a pub or restaurant! Meat was moist, veg was cooked to perfection and all the colour it is supposed...

Popped in on Father’s Day on the off chance they would be able to fit us in. Very accommodating and the food was incredible. Jon and Rob couldn’t have done more. We had an unhurried and great experience. Couldn’t recommend the Sunday roast enough!! I note the comments from the gentleman in Lycra . We were laughing all the way home at the shear arrogance and rudeness of the man.

Arrived, asked if food was being served & if they did GF. Barman gave us menu & started to pull the drinks.....then the chef came out & said there wasn't enough food as they had bookings already. Bad planning, obviously, as whoever heard of not catering for drop-in/walk-in business. And pubs wonder why they go under when planning is so poor 😒 UPDATE TO RESPONSE: Considering it was lunchtime when we called in and the pub was very quiet, AND we were given a menu to select food, I stand by 'Poor Planning'. I fully accept if it was full, no tables available, because of Father's Day, that would have been a different matter, OR told no availability when we went in. But, as there were tables free AND and sign outside saying food was being served, one can only deduce, someone didn't plan properly 🤔

Best roast dinner yesterday, fit two last minute dinners in with what they had left over at the end and was 10/10!

Huge delicious Sunday Roasty. Biggest pork belly I’ve ever had and not often I’d say a Roasty out is better than ‘I’d make at home’ but it really was. 6 different fresh veggies, hot gravy, crispy potatoes and huge Yorkshire’s. Friendly service. Highly recommend.

Had my wedding reception here was great but very very angry and upset because after asking the bar staff on a numerous amount of times to please put our cake in the fridge it wasnt done and today we collected our wedding cake which is actually now destroyed and not eatable now we are very very upset and disappointed before picture and what we collected today

My first visit to this nice little boozer in Hove. We visited as a men's darts team and had an enjoyable evening, made welcome table reserved for upon arrival staff and good food.

Very dead no atmosphere despite covid-19 restriction. This is a view from a dj who played some nice tunes a few summer day time gigs a few years ago. A lot of work needed to bring the Nevill back to its glory days. I have got some ideas if needed. Dj C😎

visited the nevill yesterday with a couple of my friends, what can I say great pub with great staff. they were very accommodating giving the covid circumstances, garden was lovely with lots of space and seats. I highly recommend this pub to anyone.

Wish we could have stayed longer, but as 6 degrees C outside in beer garden just too damn chilly! First visit to a pub in months, got a nice welcome from bar staff on entry. Decor was clean and bright and we sat in a large Marquee outside. Good experience all around. Will be back.

Used to go a lot but a new hound Batman just joined was disinterested rude and completely forgot of how to treat customers. Absolute disappointment had to walk out and will not be returning!

Confrontational landlord who breaks promises. Great barmaid who helped make our wedding reception become bearable. Expensive drink at nearly £5 per pint and £5 for a pitcher of juice.

Free drink yh right! We asked for drinks on arrival which the cost was covered. Juice is £5 a jug which got explain my 2 year old type one diabetic niece needed 20 mins later arrived. Own drinks was juice he refused to help her sugar levels go up ! after manager was rude to my 81 yeah old nan food was an absolute shambles! We asked evening guest not to arrive because of the managers rudeness and disrespect! Then had the cheek to refuse my nan her deposit back saying he didn't make enough to cover function room £150 so is that free? Only positive thing I can say is the barmaid was fantastic apart from that alwful!!

The manager was rude and even made the bride cry as called her and her man in law a lier over the arrangements made we asked for traditional English buffet paid £180 for this and what we got was mainly Indian food and stale bread there was also ment to be jugs of juice for the children and he said we had the pay £5 a jug even tho arranged this would be in the price he was extremely rude and arrogant the only good part was the barmaid Leah she was extremely friendly and brilliant with all the kids we had the function room until midnight but all left by 8pm would not recommend

Great Place To Eat and relax and the Staff treat you with some Respect with the Staff I recommend it to anybody. The Sunday Roasts are very nice.

So from the first moment my man and I, was greeted by a lovely man named as jon, we sat at the bar and watched him go around the pub making sure everyone was happy. Then out come Sam he is the cook, we wanted to eat so looked at the menu and see something I wanted but with the wrong pasta, sam within seconds said what pasta would i like he made me fresh penne unbelievably amazing took a few mins more but worth it I can not explain, come try this place you will not be disappointed
