Nice local village hotel/pub. Several dining areas of different sizes. We ate in the main bar area, which had a cosy feel with an enormous fireplace. Small but interesting lunch menu with some unusual options e.g. bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeno peppers (which were delicious). Seafood pasta was excellent. Loved the petit four as a dessert option with a coffee for afters. Delicious small sweet mouthfuls rather than a full sized dessert. Local beers on tap as well. Would definitely return. Highly Recommended.

Stayed over night and booked a table. The room was exceptional. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and the bed was the unbelievably comfy. The bedding was old school duck down duvet and pillows, so comfy. All the staff were lovely, friendly and very accommodating. The food from the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was to die for. The Neville arms oozes quality, style and class and is reasonably priced. We will definitely visit again.

Visiting a friend who lives round the corner and she eats here regularly. Had a table booked for 8pm but went in the afternoon for a drink and decided to stay and eat earlier. Not a problem for the staff who accommodated us without question. Really love this place setting is perfect with wonderful outdoor seating and inside is a beautiful setting as well. Food was delicious only downside the starter came out with the main but they did apologise and wasn't really a big problem as we had ordered small plates so just tucked in. Definitely worth a visit if your nearby I can't wait to come again.

One night stay. Amazingly comfortable bed with luxury pillows and bedding. Small but lovely bedroom. Quiet floor fan was very useful. Powerful shower and luxury toiletries. Fabulous cookies and nice touch with the sloe gin night cap, thank you. Great nights sleep and super breakfast the following morning. Lovely aroma on the landing from the automatic air freshener. Customer service was good and the venue is super. Highly recommend. 🌟 A couple of minor tips for the management…. Tissues in the room would be nice (and expected for the room rate), and due to the TV being a quirky combined mirror, when the TV is on you can’t get ready.

Stayed overnight on our way home from Southampton to Yorkshire. The room was lovely, more like a suite than a bedroom. We had a drink in the bar in front of the log burner pre dinner. Loved the dining room, very cosy and intimate. The food was excellent with a good choice of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. After a good night's sleep we had a wonderful breakfast. The staff were friendly and professional. We enjoyed our stay so much we'll be booking again for next year.

We have had a 2 night stay using this as our base to visit Leicestershire, and what a perfect choice it was. The Nevill Inn is lovely, and the staff are wonderful they couldn't have made us more than welcome. We were a little sad that we didn't get one of the refurbished rooms as ours was pretty tired. But the best of all was the food in the restaurant. The Brisket Burger was the best I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot. The service by the staff was excellent. Thanks again to all staff for making our stay so good.

The room we'd booked for our wedding night was beautiful. Beams, leaded windows and an ornate four poster bed. As it was probably the hottest night of the year, when we arrived we were very pleased to see a large floor fan in our room and working. The contents of the tea tray were disappointing with a very basic make of coffee. It was bitter and there was no decaf option. Lovely shower. Although only one large towel so we had to share. Breakfast was the most disappointing. We both chose the full English. We know there are several excellent quality butchers and bakers in this area but the sausages tasted cheap and nasty. The bacon was cooked to death and rock hard. The coffee (I drink decaf) was SO bitter it was undrinkable. The food we had did not match the quality of the room and the price paid. We would not stay again and would not recommend the food here.

Wonderful atmosphere, good menu, excellent fine dining experience.. Great service, friendly staff and clean . We had the 'sharing beef' at £75 we initially thought it was a bit 'pricey', however, it was an absolute 'taste explosion ', wonderfully cooked and we even took a box home of the leftovers, which was equally enjoyable the next day 😀.. The wine was also good (but we drank it all, and didn't need to take that home, but Ln sure they would of helped us 😀.. Seriously reccommended. We will be back .. Thank you x

We happened upon the Neville Arms on the way home from a nice drive out & it looked lovely so stopped for a drink & a bite to eat. Although we thought the menu a bit pricey we thought as we were ravenous & a good hour or more to get home we'd just order anyway - for that price you'd expect at least something good right?  Wrong! Although the burger was actually really nice that can't be said for the "hotdog". Burger - served with slightly over done chips was the best out of the two cost £20, yep that's right 20 quid (see photo) for that tiny portion. The hotdog was basically a sausage in a roll & a few over done chips - highway robbery at £14. Unfortunately it was a little bland & over powered by too much mustard. We were not at any point asked if everything was ok as one would normally expect. To be honest even if we were we'd probably have done the usual British thing & not said anything anyway - what is with that!! The place is lovely, very picturesque & staff really pleasant however the waitress really needs to not bathe in perfume as it made us gag - less is more just not on the plate in this case. We appreciate times are difficult but people still expect value for money & this unfortunately was not. Would we go back, if we were passing yes but only for a drink - you don't expect to be hungry after a pub lunch was just planning on a snack for dinner but had to have a proper dinner.

What a difference a week can make. Last weekend we visited for Father’s Day and we sat inside. It was an exceptional experience. This week we had guests and thought we’d sit outside in the Grill Area. The location was perfect, the table was great, the food was superb, but the service? Next to nonexistent. Same place, same rules, same manager but the staff just didnt care as much. A different ethos from a week ago with no attention to detail, as there was inside the pub last weekend. We have desperately been seeking somewhere that we can rely on for consistently good food and good service, inside or outside. Is it really too hard to expect? In this instance, if you're going to run two kitchens and serve from two separate locations then staff accordingly, and/or find staff who have initiative, are proactive and focused on every revenue opportunity by being attentive. We know they exist! We waited for menus, we waited and waited for our order, we had to ask for additional drinks. Tables went uncleared, napkins floated around the floor - ignored even by the day manager. We asked for the dessert menu but the wait was too long so in the end decided to get the bill instead - we had two kids with us and simply couldn't wait any longer than we did. We saw other groups looking annoyed and disgruntled. In these economically difficult and challenging times how can any business afford to treat customers like this? We are so very, VERY, disappointed because we love this place - it's everything you could want, but so poorly let down this week by such indifferent service.

Enjoyed a 2 day stay visiting friends in nearby Oakham. Our room was spacious but given the price, it lacked a number of essentials-no shelf in bathroom for toiletries, no luggage rack in room, no full length mirror, no tissues, no spare loo rolls, no shower cap, no non slip mat in shower. We went out for the full day on Sunday and returned to find our room hadn’t been made up, bed not made, no teas and coffees etc. James at reception was very good and provided all the missing items, we naturally made our own bed. The TV in the room was mounted on the wall at right angles to the bed so it was a real neck craning exercise if we wanted to watch it, thankfully we were out most of the time. On a more positive note, we enjoyed a good meal in the restaurant on Saturday night well served by Gabby. We met the host on a couple of occasions and felt he lacked warmth, maybe he was too busy but his role demands empathy with guests and this was missing. There are other hotels in the area so we’ll probably try them next time we visit our friends.

The Nevill Arms is a lovely place to stay and we were so glad we chose it for our stop off on our journey from Manchester to Kent. Its situation in the beautiful village of Medbourne is excellent. The food and service is outstanding. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. There is the option to also have dinner in the bar. Our room was comfortable and quiet. If staying longer we would choose a larger room. We did a 5 mile circular walk which took in the small hamlet of Nevill Holt which was very pretty. We will definitely choose to stay here again.

Booked for a last minute bank holiday break. So wanted to be able to give 5 stars to this little gem! The location, interior, and bedrooms were so lovely - every member of staff we dealt with while there were a credit to the place and we had breakfast and dinner there, both of which were of a very good standard (although I did feel my lamb dish at £30 was a little overpriced). The only thing that really let this place down was the quality of towels in the room, which were sadly very poor, definitely not of the standard you expect when going to stay at any hotel.

Came here last night with family for dinner in restaurant. Food and service were good, which is what you would expect at the prices they charge here. However, after retiring to the bar after meal, we were shocked when sitting there, we noticed a mouse/rat run across floor to behind the bar. The customers on table next to us noticed this too. We alerted the bar staff who took no notice of us and we were disappointed with their reaction. We immediately left and feel we have no choice but to leave this review.

We visited as we were camping in the area. When we entered the bar we were warmly welcomed. All procedures in place for COVID-19. We were going to eat in the courtyard to the rear but the restaurant was lovely so chose to eat inside....

Was feeling quite excited about coming here as was meant to come here years ago but the snow put paid to that. And after finally getting here I wish it had snowed again . The restaurant was dated , the food was poor and not really restaurant standard. My partner choose the fish pie from the specials board and I tried the steak. The steak was ok but the pie was shocking . Starters were poor as well . Couldn’t face trying a desert . Sorry Neville Arms we won’t be returning.

The bar had two locals, swearing at the tips of their voices, at 6pm. The food. We were told we couldn't eat from the valentine's special menu unless we are in the bar which was later admitted was wrong. Ate from the valentine's set the menu which looked great and assumed that at £35 a head would be too, presumably cooked by a chef meriting those sorts of prices. Langostine starter had no flesh, having been vaporised. The medium rare fillet steak was actually a well done rump steak accompanied by overcooked preprepared potatoes, which apart from being cremated was insulting and a mis-sell. Granted, the food was removed from the bill, but we didn't eat and made for a disappointing night away.

Visted for a christmas celebration yesterday. Christmas menu was weak but not even a cracker! My main meal was very poor, supposed to be an Asparagus and chestnut parcel. One spear of asparugus and no sign of a mushroom! Taste was OK But that is the best praise I can give. The White Chocolate fondant with raspberry sorbet was hot so very sweet, would not recommend eitherService was bad had to ask for someone to come and take an order for coffee!Very disappointing.

Lovely christmassy atmosphere in this cosy country pub. I have stayed here before - totally forgettable but comfortable small rooms and a decent breakfast. This time we were here for dinner which was alright but nothing special - felt staff weren't very happy Came to £30 a head for a main course, pudding and a glass of wine - not bad but nothing special. Having said that I feel its unlikely you will get a bad meal here but don't expect something amazing either The vegetarian choice was somewhat limited. Not sure about the union jack cushions either not quite to my taste anyway

What a beautiful rural location which is unspoilt. The bar was traditionally warm and inviting. A lovely hotel with nice facilities for a quiet break. You do need a car to access things like shops etc as this is a small village location. Breakfast on offer is very good with a wide variety to cover all palates. I highly recommend coming here.

We were camping in the village and decided to have our dinner at this pub as it was advertised as a family friendly place. We arrived at 7.15pm with our 3 year old son and were seated in the bar. After getting our drinks and sitting at our table we were told by the waitress that we would not be able to order food until 8pm which was irritating as we felt they should have told us about this before we ordered drinks. We sat at our table and tried to keep our toddler entertained until 8pm when we could order food. We ordered an expensive steak dish for myself and my partner to share after seeing the couple sitting next to us as they had ordered the same and it looked delicious. After waiting for our food it arrived at our table and looked nothing like what we were expecting. Our portion of chips was tiny and our “salad” was a scattering of pea shoots. We ordered a rare steak and over half of it was well done. We spoke to the waitress who said she’d sort it and then she disappeared, we then spoke to the barman who also did nothing. Around 10 minutes later another waitress approached our table and offered us a drink which we felt wasn’t good enough. We ordered a roasted chicken breast for our son, it arrived coated in black pepper so he refused to eat it. Whilst this was happening our toddler was getting restless (the bar was empty except for a couple of tables of fellow diners, who I’m sure were parents or grandparents themselves so understood that our son was getting fed up) when the barman approached me and said “tell your child to sit down” Which was completely shocking, our son is autistic and I have never been met with so much ignorance. We will not be going to this place again next time we are camping in the area, definitely avoid if you have children as the staff clearly aren’t “family friendly”

Visited with friends who hadn’t been to “The Neville” before, we were all very impressed with the food, scallops on black pudding, sautéed mushrooms starters. Followed by catch of the day (haddock),sea bass, seafood pappardelle. Staff were efficient and courteous. Drinks not cheap but hey it’s “The Neville “All in all a good night and very good value.

We had a lovely lunch yesterday but unfortunately, it was marred by access to the restaurant. Entry is via patio doors with a high step and if two diners hadn’t rushed over to help I could not have got my mum (who is in a wheelchair) inside. It was not dignified. There is no ramp and not one of the three members of staff behind the bar came to help. We then waited several minutes to even be acknowledged.

We had nice soft drinks in nice surroundings - the Neville Arms pub itself was closed but in the courtyard was the tied Cafe Neville which did excellent drinks. We would call again.

A traditional village inn with a stylish restaurant and bar. The bar area is dog friendly. The food is excellent although some main meals are a little pricey and rarely come with any vegetables which come at an extra cost. The fire in the bar was rather smokey the evening we called.

Enjoyed a nice lunch here with friends even though we were the only ones in the restaurant! Service good, drinks prices reasonable and food OK but was the “chefs homemade pie of the day” really homemade as it was virtually identical to the pieminister moo steak and ale pie?

Called in today for our first visit. Received a warm welcome from staff members and were able to be seated as although it was busy lots of people had chosen to sit outdoors. Chose a carvery and we weren't disappointed, choice of 3 meats all cooked beautifully, nice choice of fresh vegetables. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and you weren't bombarded by staff as soon as you started eating asking if it was alright. We were approached but had at least had a chance to have eaten some of the meal! Will definitely be returning here again.

We eat out all over and this has to be the worst food we have ever had.ordered a cesar salad and it had carrots and big tomatoes in with crispy chicken …then tried the lamb and mint pie and it was like looking and eating cat food even the mash was frozen mash or packet mash….beet disappointing but paid the £43 pound and got out of there

Six of us had a "just what we wanted" light lunch at this small, characterful cafe, tucked into one of Market Harborough's historic "yards". Two had the excellent tomato and basil soup, served with a ciabatta roll; two had a delicious ciabatta roll (one gluten free) with cream cheese, figs with a touch of honey and pistachio nuts; one had a bacon-filled ciabatta roll and one had a fruit scone. We all enjoyed our lunch, and the two staff were very helpful. We thought we had made a very good choice out of the numerous options in the town and would definitely go again.
