Great wee pub. Lovely staff & friendly locals. Made our family holiday so much fun. Watching football & joining in the weekly Karaoke night! Loved this wee village & already planning a return trip.

Good food and fabulous service. We called in as we were staying nearby. There was an excellent choice on the menu and it was reasonably priced. The food was served in good time and was delicious. Excellent no nonsense food!

Despite the recommendation from the Hadrian's Wall guide, this is not a place to go for a family meal after 2 days walking. Noisy, beer swilling crowd with police on hand dealing with an incident

The staff couldn’t have been friendlier. We only stopped in for drinks following a days walk. Great selection of beers and ciders in the center of this quaint old village. It’s 2 miles off the Hadrian’s Wall path, so not too convenient for walkers, but if you’re spending the night in Brampton it’s worth a visit. The fact that they had Worthington’s Ale is enough to draw me back

Visited early in January for lunch, sadly no food available, strange pub, rather empty of furniture, and a little soulless, my wine was good and one of my companions real ales was very good, but the larger was apparently average.

Service was slow, and the lasagna (which had no tomato sauce--interesting) was made with nothing more than a weird meat paste. It tasted a bit off, but it was late and it took so long to get the food that I ate it. Maybe it wasn't the food, but I was sick in the middle of the night--the only time that happened during a three week trip.

I visited The Nag's Head with my family whilst on a weeks holiday to the Lake District. I'd looked up places to eat on Google and was pleasantly surprised by the price of food in comparison to many other places around me. For a very reasonable price we were served scrumptious food, excellent quality and a decent portion size too! Our visit was certainly enhanced by the hospitality of Adam, who greeted us on arrival and stayed with us through ordering, serving and payment - above and beyond for a little local pub. Highly recommend for a great pub feel, great grub and great service.

Stopped off at brampton for lunch and had a number of pubs to choose from. so lucky for us, we decided on the nags head. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and brought our drinks to the table. The Chef came with the menus and was very accomodating in regard to changing particular dishes. He was charming and made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. The food was great, both quality and portion size and we cleared our plates. Next time i'm near brampton i will return to the Nags Head, and so should you

Stopped in to ask what time they were serving meals from. I was told they could do something for us now which with 2 hungry kids in tow was perfect. We were shown to a lovely table near the fire place & the lovely gentleman (the manager I think?) put the fire app on the tv which my kids found amazing lol. We ordered from the meals starting from £3 menu I had the Chicken and leek supreme which was delicious, my eldest had the Chicken burger with nachos which she loved & my youngest had the Cumberland sausage egg and chips which was lovely plus it was a decent size so she even took some home. Would definitely recommend a meal here the staff were very helpful & friendly all in all a really great experience. Thank you.

I telephoned the Nag's Head several weeks before my visit as I wanted to head into Brampton to eat on New Years Eve. They took the booking for 3 adults and 4 children and also took my telephone number. When we arrived with 4 hungry children, the place was quite empty and clearly not set up for meals. I was told there was no chef working that evening. The girl we spoke to was very apologetic and proposed a few other places to eat instead. A gentleman drinking in the pub overheard our dilemma and arranged for us to eat at the Howards Arms along the road and once there we were pleased that the Nags Head had indeed let us down as it wasn't welcoming for families...it clearly looked to be set up for an evening of drinking only.

Best lamb we've had in a long time. Even satisfied my fussy Italian husband! Excellent local lamb's shank that was so tender it fell off the bone and practically melted in the mouth. Served in a delicious mint sauce with mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked veg. Good real ale and friendly service. What more could you ask for after a walk along Hadrian's wall?

Recommended by our B&B; (Scotch Mews), we were the very first people to eat at the Nag's Head, which had only just started serving food this very evening. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and while the menu was (unsurprisingly) quite limited, the food was of excellent quality, easily matching the best of typical English pub fare. The fish and chips with mushy peas was fresh and crisp and the steak was cooked to perfection. Even our inadvertent breaking of a vase in the lounge didn't faze the staff - our apologies again! Overall Highly recommended.

We arrived on a Tuesday evening, when usually, restaurants are kinda slow and often close the kitchen early if there are no diners. The pub was about 3/4 full of people who had finished their meals or were locals enjoying a pint or two. The website said the kitchen served til 9 and it was about 840, so I completely understood why when we asked for a menu, the barman said 'sorry, kitchen is closed'. However, the chef (and possibly owner?) happened to have overheard, and said, as long as it wasn't something for the fryer (which takes time to come up to heat) , he would be happy to re-open the kitchen for us.
