Popped in on a Sunday to try their sunday lunch . Will definitely go back . Lots of veg , choice of beef or pork. Other dishes available on their chalkboard including vegetarian. Service was very good . Please give it a go , you won't be disappointed. Also , the bar has a great choice of ales which are in great nick.

My wife and I caught the bus into Bourne from Thurlby last Sunday and on spec called into the Nags Head for Sunday lunch. It was relatively quiet and we were quite easily able to get a table for two. We went for the two courses lunch option (I forget the cost but it was very reasonable). I had roast pork and my wife the beef. It was a very pleasant meal with plenty of nicely cooked veg and gravy. Couple of nice desserts to complete things and the odd glass of wine for accompaniment. Very attentive and friendly service too. Would recommend for a pleasant and relaxed Sunday lunch.

An exceptional gem which you need to try. After a long day shopping at Springfields in Spalding we drove to Bourne and found the Nags Head by chance. Parking is over the road but frankly worth the slight walk. Exceptionally friendly staff and the young guy who served us was very professional and a credit. Food was not just excellent but exceptionally good. Really 6*. My Sunday roast had freshly cooked veg proper gravy and proper home made Yorkshire and roasties. My partner's chilli was the best he has tasted in a while and he is a chef by trade. Obviously cooked by a chef who had a passion for his food.

The Nags head is a wonderful pub in the town centre. It is one of the few that has survived the troubles to the industry in recent years smoking ban, Covid, cost of living etc. yet managed to stay true to itself and maintained its community, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are welcoming, professional, friendly and attentive. Open planned, good seating and decorated to a good standard. It is always clean and tidy, boasts a well maintained intimate courtyard for outside dining/drinking, also a raised dining area that is utilised as a stage area for events. The food is of a high standard and portions are plentiful. Quick service and a varied menu. Highly recommend for weekday lunch, Sunday dinner or drinks in the evenings with regular entertainment provided.

We went for a Sunday dinner and ordered the Woodland Chicken. The dish lacked flavor (even the mushroom sauce was bland) and the chicken was overdone/tough... could hardly cut it with a knife. The vegetables were all overcooked, too. No atmosphere to speak of. Good, friendly service though.

visited this place every Saturday with friends prior to Covid. Friends have great difficulty walking on uneven surfaces when accessing the toilets, so had to change venue Pity because the breakfast is tops. However, if you are a serving member of HM forces or a Veteran of any of the Armed Services call in on a Saturday morning and you will be able to drag up a sandbag,, have a good banter, and a well-prepared breakfast.. Company is not bad either :)

Popped in on the off chance as a treat/break from painting etc at home. Having recently been to the local chain restaurant and being disappointed, we returned to friendly faces and being shown quickly to a table. The food came out in an acceptable time and both meals were consistent in appearance, portion size and taste and quality. This is not the cheapest Sunday Lunch around, but represents great quality. We never mind paying for quality, but feel cheated when we pay top dollar and are served with 'run of the mill' mediocre food. Highly recommend this establishment and would suggest booking at lunch time, but for a quieter experience, arrive at 4pm onwards. Well done to all the team, we will be back!

Another excellent family meal out. This really is an underused, under appreciated place. The usual local ‘competition’ is either really good or really bad, it’s a true 50/50. The Nags however, is always really good. It may not be BOGOF, but the service is always excellent, the staff always genuinely happy, and the food not reheated in a microwave.

Visited just for a light bite. Unfortunately no baguettes. We felt that it was a little expensive for what it is. Some of the light bites at £8 are over priced ie very small steak & chips is a disappointment, £6-75 would seem a more reasonable price. The food is quite good pub grub and the service is fine but they will have up their competitive edge if and when Wetherspoons open in town.

We popped in for a light lunch. It was not very busy, probably because we arrived at about 1.45, after the main lunchtime rush. We were asked to chose a table, which was a pleasant change rather than being shown to a specific table, which can be the case in a lot of establishments. The lady came over very quickly and gave us the menus as well as taking our drinks order. The drinks were delivered promptly. We ordered our food which was also delivered quickly and was very hot, having been freshly prepared. being on a special diet at the moment, I chose the vegetarian dish of broccoli and Brie. The waitress explained that the dish came with potatoes on the top and vegetables and new potatoes. As I am not allowed potatoes, I asked to have the dish with no potato topping and no potatoes, but asked if I could have extra veg instead. This was not a problem I was told. My friend chose the burger, with no amendments to what was on the menu. When the food arrived, I was somewhat disappointed, because although the broccoli/cheese was tasty, the veg dish was very limited. It included 14 slices of carrot and a spoonful of peas, plus half a tomato, which seemed out of place. However, if that was classed as "extra" vegetables, I could only help but wonder what the offering would have been has I just had the "normal" portion. My friend said that the burger was "alright, but nothing special". All in all, although the service was good and the staff member was very friendly, we were disappointed with the food. Maybe we'll not visit this place again. In addition, the gents' toilets had one cubicle, which I used, but the door lock was broken, so I had to keep my foot against the door. Not a good thing I'm afraid. I did report this to the barmaid who didn't know that this was the case and she would "pass on the information". I am tempted to return again in a week or so, just to use the toilet to see if anything has been done about it. Rather too expensive for what we had to eat.

The chicken and cheese burrito only had about 3 tiny pieces of chicken in it and my steak was nothing to shout about. I've been to this place many many times over the years and have always liked it and thought generally that it was good quality for the price. The place has now recently made some changes, mainly to the menu, and i believe they also have a new head chef. We went there for Sunday lunch today and all I can say is WOW! The quality of the food and cooking is 100% improvement. The menu has been reduced and now offers a well chosen selection of traditional and seasonal dishes. There are also some subtle but effective changes such as less tables and a new logo on place mats etc. I had the roast topside of beef which was melt in the mouth delicious. The roast potatoes and vegetables etc were also delicious and cooked and presented well on the plate. I also enjoyed the honeycomb cheesecake, which looked homemade. The prices have increased a bit but well worth the extra spend. Well done Nags head!

The Nag's Head has gone upmarket since we last came here - more limited choice (and no obvious choice for a vegetarian (me) but the chef was more than willing to do something different; pricier but better quality food. Not as busy as it's been in the past with the 2 for 1 deals but a comfortable and friendly ambience. 4 of us went for 4 different starters - clean plates all round (I suggested a bit of salad garnish would make my cream mushrooms on toasted brioche (sour dough might have been better?) look more appetising (and less beige) and a small bowl of brightly coloured salad arrived almost before I stopped speaking; 3 roast dinners (beef was pink without having to ask; yorkshires were huge!) and a thai style veggie curry (prepared without the fish sauce) - clean plates all round. And no, we couldn't manage pud!We liked the idea of 3 different real ales in 1/3 pint glasses served on a small wooden tray - yes, we've seen it before but the first time in Bourne. We'll be back!

I have eaten at the Nags many times before. We had on this occasion the 2 for 18. The food was good but not for the price. It said salad but I don't call a few leaves and coleslaw salad. I think they chief needs to rethink the selection sizes. Friend staff as usual. Would I go back again in the next weeks. No. Needs to look at the local village pub food for advice two miles up the road for value and quality.

Been here a few times now and have been suitably impressed with the quality of the food. Don't be fooled by the pubs exterior, it is much better inside and the food is even better. The staff are friendly and helpful. On one visit, a new waitress had started and the staff were a little distracted, but am pleased to say that on the last visit, everything was spot on. Do give this place a try, it is worth it.

Our party of five was made very welcome when we visited The Nags Head for Sunday lunch. There was a wide variety of steaks, roasts, ribs, pies and vegetarian options on the menu with a dedicated menu for younger children. The ice-cream sundaes looked impressive but the ice cream was not premium/luxury. The meal was reasonably priced and the staff were attentive. Thank-you.

The floor was sticky, we ordered a drink and the glass had lipstick on it, asked for a replacement glass and it had long hair stuck to side, the staff was uninterested in customers snd had no knowledge of the food they were serving, when asked what was in the spring rolls, waitress said "don't know" when I asked if it was vegetarian, duck or chicken she replied "chicken I fink", tables were not cleared of empty glasses, bathroom hygiene was very poor, no soap in the two dispensers, when I braved to go to the bar for the second time, waitresses noticed me but still let me wait for 5 minutes before coming over to serve, food was average, will not be returning and would not recommend

I'd like to start by saying well done to the staff at the nags head! Always friendly always polite.....Food I'd have to say it's a bit of hit and miss there is no consistency....shame as it is.... Considering there are alot of pubs serving food I would recommend the nags if your wanting a gastro type food.... With a little twist....Prices are fair I'd say and deals are good I wouldn't recommend the Xmas fayre personally as we found the food limited for the price and the traditional had gone out the window.....I even recall a burger menu being handed out! And given the price at Christmas you would expect that little something extra.... Something to make you want to come back unfortunately on that occasion I wouldn't go back and thats a shame as we're limited in Bourne....The chef you will only see walking past.... A good chef should always interact and I've never found he has....Although you will find a suggestion card on the table I'm not sure any have been used or read.... All in all I found it clean.... And somewhere you may stop for a drink with friends or a catch up for lunch on occasion but not somewhere I'd recommend at first thought which is a shame as it would be nice to see the traditional pub come back with traditional home made foods

Really enjoyed the food here, staff were friendly and accommodating for a fussy child eater with us. Generous well priced food - couldn't even contemplate a dessert even though the menu had many appealing options

Oh dear!! Where to start?! The staff were among the worst I've ever come across!! Rude, obnoxious, unfriendly to name just a few of their flaws! The food was mediocre and overpriced but that would have been bearable if it wasn't for the staff. Customer service training is well overdue!!

just your small town pub grub type food.....nothing special, the venue is not bad,the bar service was ok also,we can't make up our minds if it is better or worse than The Sugarmill, but I guess we will go again at some stage, just your average pub.

As we were going out on the following night we wanted somewhere cheap, (well 'ish, where is cheap,) and cheerful for a meal so decided to give the Nags a go. Good choice, easy parking options, pleasant waitresses, varied menu which included offers and well cooked food. Will definitely return.

Came for a meal out with my family for a special occasion. The food was merger and average and the "waitress" (if you can call her that) was rude, obnoxious and spent too much time flirting with men at the bar than serving tables, when she did serve she spilled the drinks, and got orders wrong, the floor looked like it hadnt been cleaned in a while as did the glasses the drinks were served in, plus they had a really funny taste, luckily my daughter had the best meal out of us all, as she was eating food i had bought with me. Won't be seeing me again anytime soon.!

We visited The Nags Head as it was close to The Corn Exchange, we were attending a meeting. The pub isn't much too look at from the outside but was pleasantly surprised when we went inside. It's nice and spacious without over crowding. The pub was clean and so were the toilets. We got served and got our meals fairly quickly. The meat on the plate was very generous and being four of us felt we had a little too much. The fresh veg was served seperately and again enough for four people. Dessert - we were let down a little, we had to wait quite a while and getting pressed for time, because of the meeting we were attending, had to wait too long. We then had to rush through a little so didn't enjoy it quite the same. If we hadn't been attending a meeting then it wouldn't have mattered. Otherwise, very nice, would go back, and reasonably priced for a Sunday lunch.

We only decided late to go out for a meal, was tossed between the nags and the sugar mill, the sugar mill is usually over run with kids so we chose the nags, have not been for a long time, think it's changed hands a few times since. Got there to find out it was steak night, and I had an Americana Ribeye, which was stacked with bacon and melted cheese. Also had a side of scampi, which was an extra £3. Definitely worth paying the £15.95, sadly no one else wanted steak with me as I believe it was 2 for £18. It was the best steak I have had in a long time which is very surprising as I work in an American ranch house with a mabrasa oven! Service was good! But they do a loyalty card, which states if you spend over £10 you get a stamp, and we spent £51 so if we had split the bill and all paid seperatly we would have all got a stamp therefore 5 in total? But as I paid for it all I only got 1 stamp? Or at least that's what I was told by the waitress... Maybe the card need a T and C's on the back or it needs re wording??? But other than that, all the food was amazing and cooked to order which is always nice!

I very rarely write a review on Tripadvisor, however I do always read the reviews, we have just visited The Nags Head in Bourne, my second time in two weeks. It's a local pub which we have not eaten in for many years. Well I didn't know what we were missing, the food and service was outstanding, the staff were so attentive, something which has been lacking in some of the most popular pubs in Bourne, well this has now changed, I highly recommend a visit.

We love the food at this pub we visit regular with friends family or just the 2 of us! Love the fact that everything is fresh and homemade! And the Sunday dinners are the best around we think. And my favourite by far are the cheesecakes. Staff are always welcoming and helpful

Stayed here when visiting friends. As you will see from the photographs, it is very poorly kept. There was a very large spider when we arrived and the person who booked us in was less than friendly. Food was okay although no breakfast was provided. Would not recommend this place at all. Heating also went on the blink so we were brought an electric heater until they could fix the boiler. Money needs to be spent here urgently.

Sadly, The Rose has closed down, and is now all boarded up. There had been a "For Sale" notice last month, but even this has gone. From a local resident.

Seems very quiet and uninviting since the Assistant Manager left to run her own pub. I would travel to her new pub but its 80 miles away! There's no conversation or interaction from staff, no engagement, just a very quiet sterile atmosphere in the bar area. Sure food is great but I visit for a pub experience not restaurant.

Love this place, we usually visit weekends, afternoon/early evening. Friendly atmosphere. Traditional old English boozer in the historic area of the town, with real fires in the winter. Sports on the telly but not "in your face", there's plenty of nooks and crannies for chatting with mates. Usually about 3 real ales to choose from, plus the expected lagers etc.
