I booked this get away for my partners birthday. Reception staff were great, friendly and helpful. Breakfast team & night bar staff were brilliant, nice, friendly and were very helpful. The only down side that I would say was the food, breakfast was good on the first day but nothing special, the other 2 days it was awful, we ate better in cheaper hotels around the Uk. Breakfast should have more choices (continental bkf ) and a la carte menu should be more well done, flavoured and better plated as it was the worst in breakfast.

I took my partner for a 2 night stay here as a present for his birthday and it did not disappoint. The whole hotel is beautiful, spotlessly clean, with stunning decor. Our room was brilliant, the bed was so comfy and the shower was amazing. It's very eco-conscious too, no plastic in the rooms and all toiletries provided in paper packaging which is lovely to see. The staff were so friendly and helpful too, everyone was very polite and happy. We would definitely come back to stay here.

Beautiful hotel unfortunately spoiled by inattentive waiting staff, Stayed for 2 nights, having both Dinner & Lunch in Palm Bar - waited a few minutes for cutlery and condiments after my food was served ? Why not bring cutlery with or before food ? Breakfast on the second morning was such an awful experience, I was seated, being advised by the waiter that he would return shortly to take my beverage/food order, I was left for 15 mins whilst he seated numerous other guests, took their tea/coffee order, food order and served their cooked breakfasts, I eventually left and checked out. Receptionists were shocked to hear what had happened and offered to get me a complimentary breakfast/coffee - I was already embarrassed and therefore declined the offer. Room 148 has a plumbers/maintenance access panel under sink in bathroom which was loose and fell narrowly missing my foot. I sustaied a small cut to my right forearm whilst trying to lift and put back (there were exposed screws) Reported to reception, received a plaster. Panel was replaced swiftly Great location and lovely rooms.

Beautiful hotel, central, top quality however not 10 points because although we stayed 2 nights the receptionist asked us on the second night suspicious if we are hotel guests... And the breakfast service was not well organized, too slow, had to order 7 times coffee till it came, although they were 5 persons or more. Being myself an hotelier there would be space for improvement. But still it was great, beautiful welcome surprise in the room, spacious and comfortable room.

The hotel was beautiful especially the bar area, our room was comfortable, although difficult to find! The staff were outstanding, so friendly and helpful, every single person we spoke to from the front desk to housekeeping couldn’t do enough to help us. We were disappointed that in order to use the pool we had to pay for a spa pass and that it was an additional £30 pp and we were limited to two 2 hour slots that didn’t fit with our plans. The price for breakfast was also quite high and unfortunately the quality didn’t match up to the price tag, the breakfast was nice but we had a long wait to order and for the food to arrive and the continental option weren’t worth the price. Other than this we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful building. Central location. Our standard room was slightly small, but the place is extremely quiet and walls are sound proof. Other rooms are slightly bigger. Very comfortable sleep. Slightly pricey bar, but probably reasonable for a classy hotel. Staff are sooo good! But then, people in the north, and especially scousers, usually are 👍😃. We did not dine in, as we were attending a family wedding nearby. I cannot comment about the booking price, as it was Mrs who booked it. I believe, there was an offer, as we booked 3 rooms for 2 nights.

My son Greg booked us into The Municipal Hotel & Spa as a 49th Wedding Anniversary present. We arrived about 3pm to be greeted by a fine young Gentlemen from America, Matthew was his name. Rosie checked us into our room, she was so friendly and happy, it made us feel so welcome from the start. Everyone seemed to know it was our anniversary as well, we where made to feel like Celebrities. Jude took us to our room 039 which was on the Ground Floor, this helped as I have two false hips and trouble walking. When we walked into the Room we where Greeted by Two Kissing Swans on the Bed from Housekeeping, I asked the name of the person who did it. The Housekeepers name is Buwaneka (I think that's how you spell it). Alex in the Bar was a wonderful young chap, full of smiles and Holly was so friendly also. This beats the last hotel our son checked us into for our 45th Wedding Anniversary which was at the Titanic, While the Titanic was Lovely. The extra attention to detail, staff and quality of the amenities and bed make this stay even more special. Thankyou The Municipal Hotel for make our Wedding Anniversary and Birthdays, Perfect.

I stayed for one night for a work do. Overall, it was all rather disappointing, despite the wonderful building (exterior and interior) and central location. My bedroom was 'ok'. Comfortable and reasonably clean (a small brown mark on the bed sheet let it down) if a little cramped. There was no proper coffee in the room, only instant sachets. For the price, I expect a coffee machine, or at the very least fresh-coffee bags. The signage in the hotel was almost non-existent. Where there was signage, it was very difficult to read (dark engraving, on dark bronze plaques in dark corridors!) which made finding my way around the hotel very difficult. On a longer stay I'm sure I'd get the hang of it, but if your stay is short, plan to spend a lot of time wandering around without a clue where you're going! Service in the restaurant and at the bar was painfully slow. The worst thing about my stay was the breakfast. I waited 10 minutes for someone to take my order. I ordered a full English (or 'Liverpool Breakfast' as they like to call it) but was disappointed that I was told I couldn't choose my eggs - I had to have scrambled. I waited 20+ minutes for the breakfast to arrive and was gutted to find that it was cold. The eggs were the worst scrambled egg I've ever had: dry, overcooked, rubbery, grey, flavourless egg. No staff came back to ask how my breakfast was and I didn't have time to complain as I had a meeting to rush to (I was late after waiting over 30 minutes to get my food). The location was great, but I won't be staying here again.

Don’t be fooled by the nice architecture. This is a hotel to visit for drinks or a meal only. The staff conveniently gave us a smaller room than we paid for. Only after saying something did they acknowledge the mistake and give us a bigger room. The larger room is over the front entrance. So every time the entrance door opens it bangs three times as it closes. The room service menu on the TV was postage stamp size. Almost impossible to read unless three feet from the TV. Food was nothing special. Refrigerator was not stocked. The TV guide is almost unreadable. It’s honestly hard to understand how it has a five star hotel rating. One of the worst hotel experiences we have had and are seasoned travelers. All this for a room rate of over $1,000 usd per night.

Visited for 'afternoon tea' 6th April 24. This is my second visit (1st was for a cocktail when the hotel was newly opened.) I commented then on a number of points because I believe constructive criticism can be helpful. Sadly there is no change regarding the Brass around the entrance, still very dull. The front of house staff, waiters etc their uniform shirts are obviously difficult to keep white. Why not change them for a different colour.? They tend to look grubby. On arrival there were 4 staff at reception, 2 behind and 2 chatting with a can and bottle of soft drinks on the desk. This is not something you expect to witness in a 5star establishment. The afternoon tea service was good, very pleasant young ladies. The actual tea was mediocre, 4 small finger sandwiches, a variety of small cakes and a large scone with jam in a pot and cream(NOT CLOTTED CREAM) The sugar was in wraps?. Again not deserving of 5 stars. I was with my 89 year old disabled aunt and before we left she needed to use the accessible toilet which was occupied for some time. When the person came out it was a male member of the bar staff???. Surely staff have the use of designated toilets in a so called 5 star establishment?. I haven't stayed at the hotel and the liklihood is I won't but I am very proud of my city and make the effort to try out eating and drinking places and see what's on offer. I do not make these comments for any other reason than to hope they are taken as constructive.

Liverpool is full of great hotels, we decided to pay a bit more and stay at the Municpal hotel. The reception staff were fantastic, very friendly, but the room was clean but average and not sound proof, being woken up at 2 am to the people above living their best lives. There was no turn down, or refill. of tea coffee amenities, and you had to pay an extra £30 each to use the hotel pool, even though you were staying there. Was quite disappointing.

We arrived at the beautiful hotel and we were excited to get to our hotel room. Having booked an executive room, we expected better than what we got. The room was roasting hot and very, very small compared to other hotels. The bed was just a double with very little space around it. Having gone to reception to ask for the window key due to needing fresh air, we were told it wasn’t possible to open the windows because it was a listed building. The air con was non-existent and it was a sleepless, uncomfortable night. The spa was mediocre compared to others we have visited. The breakfast was delicious with attentive staff. Unfortunately, this hasn’t left us with the best overall experience.

Stayed here for three nights was very much looking forward to our stay but was very disappointed. I’m by no means a regular hotel reviewer etc but I think it’s fair for those who are looking at reviews to get an honest opinion. Yes it’s a beautiful hotel . The room was very comfortable and clean however you can’t adjust the temperature in the room it’s fixed at 19 degrees and centrally controlled , you can’t open a window so it was extremely warm and difficult to sleep. The corridors were not hoovered I passed the same red coloured tablet on the floor for three days , trays of room service are left in view in the corridors till late in the morning/ afternoon which is pretty unsightly . The main issue here is the service , breakfast which we really looked forward to was sadly such a let down , it was chaotic to be honest. Queuing to be seated amongst uncleared tables , we waited an hour both days for breakfast to be served , when it was served tea was cold , cups no saucers , omelette had ham in it which I had asked no ham , English breakfast was terrible tomatoe and mushroom vastly undercooked and sausage inedible I couldn’t believe it when my partner got up and left as he loves breakfast . The people seated around us were also waiting long periods , hence why you will see other reviews highlighting poor breakfast service , the kitchen was extremely slow and there just is not enough staff to cater for a busy breakfast period . It really needs to be addressed , because of this we decided not to eat in the hotel for lunch or get room service . Would I stay here again for the money we paid I’m afraid I have to say no sadly as I was really hopeful for a luxury stay but unfortunately it’s not 5 star or anywhere near it .

This hotel has the wow factor when you walk into the palm court. Unfortunately service at the bar wasn't good, the two bartenders being occupied with their backs to us for an inordinate amount of time. Food at the Seaforth restaurant was amazingly good, although quite a limited choice on the menu. Our room was not large but the high ceiling in this fantastic old building gave a feeling of spaciousness. However it was freezing cold for most of the time (heating being apparently centrally controlled) and the "hot" water in the shower is tepid. Teabags were not replenished on our second day, not a showstopper but worth a mention. When we asked for information on the spa and pool we were quoted £60 for the two of us to gain access to the pool for two hours, or £100 for the day! So overall, the "luxury" stay that we anticipated turned to disappointment. This hotel can be so much better...

My partner had booked in treatments for me and him for my birthday aswell as spa access. Treatments were lovely, however, very ignorant spa receptionist. The girl sounded as if she was from London. We were left seated for over 20 minutes whilst she left spa before we was checked in and shown upstairs. Once upstairs minimal instructions given to us about how to use lockers and no towels were given to us to use. The robes also had no belts. Once we finally worked out how to use the lockers and were poolside my partner had to go down and ask the same girl 3 times about bringing water up to us, all 3 times she was just sat and had not left the desk. Constantly on her phone and seemed disinterested in everything we had to say. Off putting to say the least not a 5* experience.

I had 2 nights stay in January. The staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming, and check-in was trouble-free. It's wonderful to see that so many of the architectural features have been preserved. The Palm Court is particularly beautiful. It is disappointing that the palms and other plants are artificial, however they are extremely realistic, and without any of the usual nasty 'artificial plant' smell. My room, on the 2nd floor, was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The floor area is relatively small, but the very high ceiling makes the room feel airy. It was cooler than the normal excessive heat in luxury hotels. I prefer this, but it might be a bit too cool for some guests. The bed was extremely comfortable. I enjoyed a meal in the Seaforth Brasserie. Not cheap, but interesting and delicious, and very good service too. Breakfast was very good too, although I was a bit surprised to find it was self-serve. However there was an excellent choice of fresh hot and cold items. I had a 2 hour morning session in the spa, before breakfast. It is a wonderful facility, welcoming staff, spotlessly clean, with everything working correctly. I particularly enjoyed the swan-neck spouts giving me a shoulder/back massage. The end wall is a large window which gave me a view of the sky as dawn was breaking-a lovely start to the day. It was so good I did it again the next day. The location of the hotel is excellent, being very close to Moorfields station, and in the heart of the historic Dale Street area of the city. There is an enormous choice restaurants and coffee shops nearby, also the museums and the Pier Head. The main shopping area is about 5 minutes walk away. Overall an excellent relaxing city break. I hope to stay again soon.

This fantastic and stunning historical building recently made into a 4 star hotel. Beautiful main room with cocktail bar and a lovely area to eat and drink.Great location for walking into the main city areas within minutes. Car parking available in the NCP multistorey approx 150 m away. Discounted tariff reduced to £13 for 24hrs by the hotel. We had a two night break with B&B in a superior double. The room was interesting. Modern well appointed shower room with quality towels. The main bedroom has a smaller footprint than expected with a quality super king bed with quality bedding. The high ceilings 20 plus feet make the experience like sleeping in a lift shaft underneath a large heavy spiked light fitting suspended very a chain, like a torture device 😕. Scaffolding would be required to replace the curtains, not joking. Disappointed that the pool was out of bounds from guests without an extra payment ☹️. The highlight of my hotel stays is alway the breakfast for me. Disappointed is an understatement. Cold small child's plates await with a number of warmed tureens with dry luke warm contents. ☹️☹️The weakest orange juice which a 5 year old would turn up there nose to. Tea served luke warm from a pumped flask!! The toaster dried the bread without colouring it, attempted the use both available with the help of staff. Hopeless. The piped music was too loud and not in keeping, trumpets for breakfast not suitable which mixes with a different piped music from the main bar. Spoke with manager who was understanding and apologetic about the issues raised. Must try harder to even get close to a Wetherspoons breakfast. Sorry but need to be said so improvements can be made to create the stunning hotel that this can become. Work to do.

Had afternoon tea, and although the setting is nice, we had expected to be seated in the Botanic Tearooms but were informed when we arrived that they were closed. This was disappointing as that was one of the reasons we chose this venue. We had to request a seat in the Seaforth Restaurant, as we had only been offered a small table in the bar area. Although the afternoon tea was nice it was vastly overpriced for what we got. Also the service was not great - the staff were pleasant and accommodating but we had to ask for everything including plates at the start. Tables were also left uncleared for long periods of time which for a hotel of this standard was disappointing too. We did have a nice afternoon but not sure we would either return or recommend. Maybe Monday afternoons are not the best time to visit…..

We checked in and were told about the spa facilities and that there would an extra charge, (we were not told how much) and that you needed to book in to the spa before going. That was all ok completely understandable about the booking system, but the extra charge on top of your room which was £30pp for 2 hours was a bit extreme, we tried to book into the spa every single day we where staying and couldn’t it was fully booked from the day we arrived, instead on our last morning we have to go down to spa ourselves to ask if there had been a cancellation so we could actually use the spa whilst we staying in the hotel. This is a flawed system because clearly the public can book into the spa which means there is very very limited space for the hotel guests to book it, we were very disappointed. It was also incredibly slow service in the bar and restaurant we where told it was due to shortage of staff on the first night but it recurred the whole time we where there, in fact the first night we had dinner in the hotel bar it tuck 1 hour for our food to arrive and our starters came out with our mains even after the staff asked do you want your starters first then your mains which we said yes too. It also told my partner 40 mins to get served at the bar, and on our last day we ordered lunch and I asked for a latte with oat milk it took the staff 30 mins to come back and tell me that there was no oat milk available, in this time people who ordered after us had been served their drinks. This was disappointing as it was booked for a birthday trip.

First and foremost, I have to say that your hotel is absolutely beautiful. The design and decor are stunning, and it created a really lovely atmosphere during my stay. I was truly impressed! But what really stood out to me was your amazing staff. From the moment I arrived, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make sure that my stay was enjoyable and comfortable. I really appreciate the extra effort they put in. I wanted to mention that there was a small issue with a request that I had made prior to my stay, but the staff handled it with such sincerity and professionalism. They even offered me a complimentary bottle of fizz as an apology, which was a really nice gesture. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised when I requested a late check-out and it was granted without any hassle. This allowed me to fully relax and enjoy the spa facilities before my departure. Speaking of which, the spa manager was an absolute delight. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and really enhanced my spa experience. Overall, I have no complaints about my stay at your hotel. Given the Wrong room and then moved with appologies. Promised a drink but the only delivered two glasses. A room that sadly had no TV. Controls, shower soap and needed a good dust. The lobby at 3pm check in is chaos and the breakfast is a scramble with the food buffet in a too small room with a huge queue for the one coffee machine. Lovely building that deserves better attention to detail or it will go the way of the Adelphi.

Lovely building. Very nice spa. In a very good location to get to anywhere. For what we paid it was good value. We stayed here for a night. The food was very average and the service was really not great. Very slow. Just expected more from this place, was left disappointed.

Fabulous historic building, excellent location had hope when visited in July, sadly let down by service and standards. A three night stay, which lacked service and attention to detail. Really want this place to succeed after the pain staking and expensive renovations. A 3 star stay at best. Negatives Reception staff unfriendly on check in and unprofessional having giggly conversations with clients walking around. Concierge helpful but requires more front of house staff. Luggage being carted through palm court looks messy, reception area requires more space and efficiency. Permanent door staff should be available in a five star hotel. Restaurant busy with not enough staff and attention to table settings. Cutlery not removed when I did not order a starter. Cutlery trays on view where customers could see, cloudy glassware, tables not cleared quickly and ordering slow with long wait times. Why are dress standards not implemented after a certain time in the restaurant. I don’t want to be dining with girls wearing Ugg boots and leggings at 7pm. Room service non existent! No answering of phones, we had to come down to order food in the palm court. When asked reception they said we were too busy! House keeping poor! Asked for face cloths for 2 days, finally received on last day of stay. Cleaning poor, hairs in sink, surfaces not wiped, rubbish left in room. Three shower caps but no vanity kit s provided. Rooms fresh, new and generously sized, but showers are lacking pressure, a nightmare to wash hair, sink water temperature barely warm. Toilet was dripping into bowl and eco product pumps are stiff and difficult to use. Positives Tim in restaurant attentive and passionate, sadly lacking more staff as he was running around ragged. Restaurant food was excellent, though service slow. Reg from the management team listened and felt the disappointment I highlighted. A new general manager hopefully will implement and improve standards and service. Please do not respond with the generic response which the recent negative feedbacks have received.

Came in for some drinks, Pez turned our night around. He was incredible, personable and looked after us incredibly. Tonight wouldn’t of been as special without him. Gave us on point recommendations and made sure we had the best evening. Would come again.
