Luca in Liverpool

We had a lovely time at Luca today and can’t recommend this place enough! We went at lunch time and it was quite busy, Hannah & Sam went out their way to make a space for us and couldn’t have been nicer. The food was absolutely lovely and worth every penny! The service was amazing and they couldn’t have been nicer. Really highly recommend this place and the team. Thanks for a lovely lunch!

Came here for dinner on my birthday and the food was exceptional. Hands down best dinner I've had in Liverpool and I eat out more than I should. Vegetarian options are all delicious and the service is excellent. Went back for brunch over the weekend and had the wild mushrooms with poached eggs. Its now my favourite place for brunch too.

We had the Full English and pancakes. Both were absolutely superb. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Tapas very small not good value for money. Won’t be going back

Sunday 17th March 17:30 Firstly the service is amazing and the staff friendly , however the food we found a little bland, the calamari was definitely frozen and over cooked to become so rubbery, it had also a lingering taste of old cooking oil . The pepperoni pizza priced at £10 is definitely overpriced having hardly any slices of pepperoni topping. Partner had the mussels which she said tasted fine apart from the thick tomato sauce , the meat balls fell apart and lacked texture the accompanying bread with the mussels was so hard it nearly broke her teeth . We only had two courses each and one drink with some free tap water including tip £75:35

Lovely little place. The food was very enjoyable and on point. The service by Dominic was exceptional- he really went the extra mile to make us feel warm and welcome.

Used to love this place, table was booked for 7pm by 8.30 they were virtually cleaning up around us & brought us bill when we never asked, its supposed to be open till 10 even a monday night at least should be 9.30, it's gone completely overpriced & portions way to small for the price, won't be coming again

This was a really difficult review, mainly because the food was fabulous and our waitress was wonderful, friendly and gave great recommendations. However the vibe was ruined by the hostess as soon as we walked in. I called the night before to see if we could add two more people to my booking. The man the answered was really helpful and said yes that wouldn’t be a problem. Turned up after raving to my family how good Luca is, who had come to from down South. However the hostess said to us that we had only booked for two people not four and informed us we would have to sit on the high table with stools. I did go to tell her that I’d called up yesterday but before I had a chance to finish my sentence she abruptly interrupted me and said “yeah well I wasn’t in last night”. I was really shocked at the way I was spoken to and to be honest a little bit embarrassed I was spoken like this in front of my family after singing Luca praises. Later on that night a couple went to come in (Luca were still serving) and the girl in the couple changed her mind and they walked back out. The same hostess turned around and said to another member of staff “it’s like they can tell isn’t it” more or less saying she didn’t want their custom. For me being made to feel welcome somewhere is just as important as the food and the hostess just really made me feel very unwelcome with her attitude from the moment we walked in. I did email Luca about this just to make them aware however I never heard back. Such a shame as the food and waitress was amazing but I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Truly beautiful food! Huge compliments to the chef, very much looking forward to returning with friends and family and trying more of the menu. Lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff. Very reasonably priced, can't praise this restaurant enough.

Great service the girls were welcoming and friendly, food was tasty. Have to mention the risotto it's a must-have. The tiramisu was one of the best we had.

Superb place. Food is incredible and they catered to a table of eight with four young kids in an attentive and friendly manner. Special mention to Claire who was so good with the kids and actually came out with a little birthday dessert for my partner. Cannot stress how impressed we were with the service and food.

I ate here for the 1st time yesterday. It was really good. Its an Italian tapas and has a wide variety of food. We got 6 plates of tapas between me and my wife. The portions a very generous and very tasty. The servers Caitlin and Aisy were very friendly and gave amazing service. I'll definitely return here!

Great food, reasonably priced and really great staff

The chefs who work here are artists. I've been a chef for 8 years and I can't fault either the friendly service or the food, the brisket was rare the sourdough was crunchy the wine was sweet and sour and dry in perfect amounts. These guys will treat you right when you need it.

Stumbled across Luca today, having craved tapas for lunch, and will be returning again! Lovely relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and great food. My friend and I enjoyed the peppers, truffle fries, fried goats cheese, ragu parpadelle and calamari. All the food was freshly prepared, good sized for cicchetti, and arrived in good time. Along with a glass of wine, a coffee, and a hot chocolate, the bill came to £55. Thanks again!

We came for lunch and chose the 3 small plates option and they were gorgeous. Everything so fresh and made to order and the two waitresses were so lovely

Absolute shame that our meal was spoilt by the service at this resturant.The abrupt attitude of the serving staff at the table was rude and brusk and quite frankly confrontational.The rest of our party arrive 15 mins after the table was booked at 6:30.She was advised we only had our table until 8:30..a two hour slot. We were not asked if we would like a coffee after our meal ..when I asked I was frankly told that we only had the table until 8:30 “and I did tell you that earlier” I went on to ask if there was another party waiting after us ? To which she replied yes.When leaving there was no one waiting at the bar or for our table.We left the restaurant rather puzzled as to why the waitress was so off in manner throughout service at our table. We walked down the road and was welcomed warmly by another Italian where we stayed and had coffee.We will be returning there in future.Such a shame …

I attended this restaurant and was greeted by a man with the frame and proportions of Michelangelo's ‘david’. This gregarious character served me charisma, and then my food. I visited this restaurant for an experience, expecting to learn a little bit about food, but in the company of this bald-by-choice man, I left having learned a little bit more about life. This staff member was so affable I’m considering shaving my head in reflection of his appearance. Would recommend.

Came here for lunch with my partner who has a mild nut allergy (traces fine). A man, who I can only hope is a temporary manager, rudely confronted my partner about not carrying an epipen, stating that they had had an issue with a customer the week before who ‘broke out into a rash’ after eating their food. He then stated that it was his ‘liberty to refuse to serve us’ and encouraged us to leave the restaurant which was pretty humiliating. You’d think that after their recent experience of a customer having a reaction that they’d bother to provide allergen menus to customers and introduce thorough training for all staff, instead of having a manager who was so lacking in hospitality that we could have solved the energy crisis by harnessing the colossal amount of angry divorced Dad energy emanating from his head.

The aggressive, rude staff at Luca would do well to remember that ‘it’s not what you say but how you say it’. My friend was verbally abused for declaring an allergy and refused service. No allergen menu was given, just told to leave. There was no apology for having waited 20 minutes to have an order taken only to be told ‘I don’t want to serve you’ by a bald male staff member clearly in need of some retraining.

Great little place. Food is delicious. We have ordered 4 plates (for2 girls) / 1 starter and 3 dishes and ended up taking a doggy bag! They say its “tapas style” but portions are generous! Definitely SHARE the dishes so you can enjoy all flavours.

First time eating here and really enjoyed it. Great choice of dishes on the menu which are all small (ish) plates and good selection of drinks. Star of the show for me was probably the wild mushroom risotto. Not the cheapest of places but staff were really friendly and helpful, only drawback was service was a little slow.

Nice Restaurant Good Food Good Service

By far our favourite restaurant in Liverpool! Staff are lovely and the food is incredible - worth a visit just for the salt and pepper gnocchi! We had amazing service on Monday evening from both Grace & Becky who couldn’t have been more friendly & helpful. Thanks so much, we can’t wait to come back and try the new menu!

Food was amazing and the service from our waiter Francois was impeccable, everything we ordered was delicious and there was plenty of choice. I would highly recommend a visit if you would like to try tapas style Italian food.

I owe this place at least 4 five star reviews so far already! First time we visited we only popped in for drinks and were immediately captured by the tasty smells and friendly service. Rapidly booked lunch not long after and the food did not disappoint! I am recommending the arancini as I have had them at every visit ever since! We then managed to get an impromptu night without the children and as I really wanted to eat here again, I messaged them via Instagram for availability. They were fully booked at this point (not surprised) but their quick and friendly responses were greatly appreciated.... Luckily for me they had a cancellation a few hours later and they immediately got in contact to see if I was interested. Big thumbs up from me! We had an amazing dinner, drinks and dessert and they even brought us some complimentary limoncello to cheers an evening without the kids! We recently visited again to celebrate my FIL's birthday and even my little rascals cleared their plates. Great food and great service again! Even down to singing happy birthday over a candlelit gin & tonic as we were too full for dessert! I will definitely be back!

I have eaten breakfasts all over the UK and the world. The breakfast at luca alerton Road was by fat the best I have ever had. Quality and service was exceptional. You must try the food at at luca its fantastic 👌 😀

Our waiter for the evening, a man wearing a red beanie in a £30+ per head restaurant, was rude from the start of the night. From blunt conversations, taking drinks without asking if they were finished and rudely asking if we we had 'made our minds up' just over a minute after being initially rushed to pick from the food menu all within a couple minutes of arriving. When ordering, the waiter aimed to overpronounce every order we asked for, even adding words to the dish title with the aim of 'correcting' us after us having a go at pronouncing the italian. Even down to asking where the toilets where, all I got was a sarcastic point to the obvious generally direction. No help at all Finally the bill then was thrown onto the table with a added service charge which we were not asked if we wanted - or thought after the service was acceptable. Customers leave tips when they are happy with the service, it shouldnt be pushed upon them with the awkward interaction of asking to remove it. Which we avoided to not further spoil our evening. As for the food: The sea bass and pasta we had were faultless so hats off to thr chef for them and the milanese chicken was okay though fairly basic. We hoped for more foccacia with the cheese sharer for 2, since a mere 15cm x 15cm piece is hardly enough to use with the dish for 2 or justify the £12 price. Food portions themselves were generally on the small side (even for small plates) As for the wine, the house Merlot wasnt great, very cheap tasting despite the near £7 price tag Overall, without the rude service we would have been satisfied enough with our experience (but wouldn't be eager to return), despite the overpriced nature of the dishes for what they were. The food itself was nice but for £30 there are plenty of equally, if not better, restaurants in the heart of Liverpool as opposed to the outskirts. The only real driver for the negative review was the awful service which shocked me and my partner several times. 5 small plates, 2 deserts and 2 glasses of wine was over £80. For this, good service, agreeable food portions and good food should be guaranteed

I've eaten quite a few meals in my lifetime, but hand on heart can honestly say this was the best meal I've ever eaten. What an absolute gem. It's now going to be so difficult to eat anywhere else because I'm just going compare it to Luca. Cocktails , are there enough superlatives, just divine. The service from Molly was faultless, interested in us as customers, knowledgeable, a credit to the company.

Food always stunning. Have been here 3 times in the last couple of months and always leave wanting to come back. Staff are really friendly and attentive. Wine list is selective and all the wines I’ve tried have been delicious. Portions are generous, and the staff are always happy to take more orders during your meal. 5/5 and highly recommended! Can’t wait to come back and try breakfast.

I had the white beans bruschetta and vegan lasagna and the lasagna in particular was incredible! (Very small portion size though)

Food was delicious but the staff kept trying to get rid of us telling us the kitchen closed at 8pm on a Tuesday. Throw our deserts at the bottom of the table and told us to share them out ourselves. Would go again becausethe food was lovely, maybe they where just having an off night!

We had a fantastic meal, sharing a few different small plates between us which were all delicious. Our server, Jade, was a delight and raised it from an A to an A+, great service and couldn't do enough for us. We'll be sure to come back!

Definitely the best breakfast in Liverpool. Yet to try their evening menu, but we've had breakfast there multiple times now, and the quality of ingredients is second to none.

2nd time here and really enjoyed it. Lots of love, thought and attention packed onto a small dish. We especially liked the Wild mushroom gnocchi and spicy Oriciette. Each mouthful was a wonderful flavour journey. Great service from Jade too!

Fantastic food, the flavours where amazing. Washed down with a fabulous bottle of passemento. Too full for desert.. decided on a glass of delicious cherry primativo for my OH. And a raspberry fizz for me made with locally made lemoncello ❤️. Service was impeccable and unobtrusive. Tuesday night.. early on from 6pm, not a table to be had, speaks volumes about the food, service and ambience. Would highly recommend. When I asked about homemade lemoncello, I was offered a taste.. delicious, smooth and refreshing, to then be told it’s made locally! Even better.

Excellent food and service. However, the board outside says 2 for £12 on small plates and cocktails. I did not see this till we sat outside after our meal. I asked our lovely waitress, who had no knowledge of the offer. She asked inside, and apparently the owner has told the staff not to mention the offer unless the customer asks!! If 'the owner' is not prepared to offer a reduced menu, then it should not be displayed outside. Shame!!
