Bacaro in Liverpool

We were very fortunate to catch a canceled reservation. A perfect evening of food, wine, and relaxation. Every dish we had was superb. And for the quality, the prices were very fair. Highly recommended. Their gluten-free menu is extensive.

What a place! The food was divine. The place is very ambient and perfect for a dinner date. The sea bass was excellent, my favourite from everything we tried. The goat cheese crostini was also amazing. Will definitely be coming back!

Myself and my husband has a wonderful experience at Bacaro. I'd been before, but this was my husband's first time there. We went at midday and were promptly seated despite not having a reservation. We both chose the 3 plates for £19pp from the lunch menu and were not disappointed in the slightest. The chefs deserve so much praise, as the food we had was just amazing. I also can't praise the staff enough, either. They were all wonderful, friendly, and welcoming from the moment we stepped foot in the building until we left. I highly recommend Bacaro if you're looking for authentic Italian tapas with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and amazing staff. Thank you Betsa and the team.

Lovely food and lovely service.

Had a fantastic meal here and even better service from Laura. The food and atmosphere were incredible and the service was prompt even on a busy evening. Would highly recommend the limoncello sangria!

What a terrific evening we had 10/3/25 - the staff, food and drink amazing. The place was heaving and justifiably too. We had a good mix of small plates and larger plates and had a little sharesy- everything piping hot and delicious- just wish we lived closer.

Great food and service at a reasonable price. The small plates were delicious especially the sea bass and the hake. It was a bit loud but that is what we expected based on the clientele. We would definitely go back. Make sure you have a reservation as it was packed the entire time we were there.

Authentic Italian food and wine of the highest quality. Excellent attentive and professional service. Great lunch time menu with three small plates for £19. This is our favourite Italian in Liverpool from now on!

Love it here. Very relaxed, good atmosphere. All staff always been very sociable, good service, and lovely food. One complaint. Why have you dropped the Rosemary fries for the courgette fries !!!! please bring them back, the others are chronic. We can’t be the only ones saying this. That apart, the place is great.

Absolutely appalling staff. Booked here after seeing it was dog friendly on Visit Liverpool and Trip Advisor. Turned up and ignored for five minutes then informed they were not dog friendly!! Staff were rude and hostile said it must be some other Bacaro. Not our website they said, we don’t care they said. Avoid

Great place for an anniversary dinner

Had the most fab meal here last night. Gorgeous wine, plates and cocktails. Will definitely be back. Shout out to all the staff who were super attentive and polite.

Stop this tipping madness! I don't need to be told how much to tip you! Firstly I really wanted to leave a great review for this place as the food was lovely but when I get my bill, it tells you how much you should be tipping and adds it to the total....no!, I will tell you how much I'll tip thank you! Firstly, the guy with his hair in a bun on the front desk was miserable and not welcoming at all. We had 2 glasses on our table for water, which never arrived and wasn't offered. The girl serving us was lovely and smiley, which was nice considering the initial welcome we had. We ordered 6 meals between 2 of us but shortly after ordering, the waitress told us one of the meals they couldn't do as they had ran out (which is completely fine) however the girl said she would give my girlfriend a minute to find a replacement. She never came back, so I had to stop another waitress who had already started delivering plates to our table. My girlfriend was struggling to cut through her steak with the cutlery provided so I asked politely to the guy with a bun, if we could get a steak knife to which he replied "no, those are the only knifes we have" in his miserable tone we had already witnessed on arrival. I had to ask a member of staff if my lasagne had been forgotten as we had finished all 5 other dishes and was told that it took the longest (other meals should have been held back if this was the case) but i had to eat 5 minutes after we had already finished everything else. The food was delicious, I might add. Hence, the 5 star rating for food. Now here is the niggling issue. I am perfectly happy to tip for great service and even though certain parts of my service was not tip worthy, we both thoroughly enjoyed the food and I was happy to leave more than the 10% expected tip. I asked for the bill and was shocked to find the bill telling me I should be giving 10% tip, even working it out for me and adding it to the total. I am perfectly capable of working out 10% thank you. Our bill came to £81 and I was paying cash, so I put £90 on the plate. Now, usually at classy restaurants, they bring you your change, and you leave an appropriate tip. Sadly, the waitress came to take the money and said, "Do you want the change" which after that, i was very close to saying "yes i do," Now, even after the few service issues and bad attitude from the guy at the front desk, I was going to leave a 5 star review. However, the whole expecting a tip and working it out for me on the receipt I find absolutely disgusting, we are not Americans, we never will be, tipping culture is not a thing in the UK, get a grip and remove it from your receipts. In the UK, we tip for exceptional service, you don't just get a tip for giving the bare minimum.

Food is always delicious When there's just 2 booking you end up on a tiny teeny tiny table Because the food comes fast and furious there's no room on the table for the plates forcing you to shovel the food down at speed. There is no recognition that they have already delivered food plates of food and they bring everything else out. Starters, main sides all come at once! Today (2.2.25) table booked for 15.00 and we were out of the restaurant by 15.44 Totally rushed Not a great experience ? 🙄

Wonderful experience! Portions are not big, but the idea is to order 2-3 plates per person so that you can easily try everything. I recommend ordering a starter, a main dish and a desert. We ordered some fish, beetroot salad, focaccia with ricotta, toffee pudding, and brownie. Excellent quality, it was very delicious! The place was full of people and it definitely was reasonable.

This was a meal we will remember for a lifetime! We brought two American guests who had just returned from a trip to London and Paris, and they said this was the best meal they had in Europe. I'm personally celiac and was there to try their gluten free menu. My god was I not dissapointed !! The food is truly beautiful, both in flavor and presentation. You can see the love and attention put into each dish. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and the resteraunt has a wonderful ambiance. We did not realize upon ordering that each dish is brought out when it is ready, so I will warn others in advance that if you're going in a group to be aware of that when ordering plates which take longer to cook alongside faster dishes, or else your party nay not be eating at the same time. As someone who has a culinary background I appreciated this touch, but it was somewhat awkward for our guests. The prices were also unbelievably fair, and we can not wait to return soon!

The atmosphere is amazing in this place, the food was delicious and the waiter was the best waiter ever, he couldn’t do enough for us. We went for my Brothers 60th Birthday and we were not disappointed.

Mains were underwhelming, especially considering the cost - ordered battered calamari/cougettes, lamb tagliatelle and sea bass with mushroom sauce. The batter for the calamari was good texture, light and crisp, but lacking flavour. The other two mains also lacked flavour and the sauce for the seabass was wayy too thin, so doesn't coat the sea bass as you eat it. The service was timely, but didn't recommend how to order or any special dishes. I went in the evening, and the music was way too loud to be able to hear or speak over. This was also highlighted as they didn't really hear my drink order properly. Of all the things ordered, they nailed the garlic cheese bread with jalapeños so would recommend that!

Stunning venue with amazing friendly staff. Came here to celebrate a birthday and the service was incredible. The team were so friendly and helpful. They assisted us in adding a few surprise guests at our table and were super patient whilst waiting to order. Poppy was a delight all evening and is an asset to your team. Food was great. We had a dinner with friends on New Year's Eve. We ordered a selection of plates from each of the categories - fish, meta, veggie, dessert etc - and all were delicious. Great cocktail and beer selection too. And the service was exceptional. Will definitely return. Thanks for a great night!

A fantastic choice for eating out in central Liverpool. We loved the small plates element as this was a great way to share and try different dishes. The standouts were the cod, broccoli and gnocchi. The staff were very attentive, professional and helpful- service was excellent. All of the dishes were tasty and we really enjoyed our visit! Definitely recommend!

The tastiest food I’ve had in a long time. Everything is so fresh and full of flavour. We could have kept eating but had to stop ourselves from going overboard. We had around 11 plates between 4 of us and it was filling enough. Everything is reasonably priced for what you get too, under £50 each for the food and around 3 drinks. Will definitely be back.

Everything about Bacaro is excellent. Great location, nice ambience, excellent service - and then the food and drink...*chefs kiss* Don't leave without trying the goats cheese crostini, the lasagne and the black pudding with chicken livers

What an amazing place this is... just wow, food is just absolutely unreal. Not a lot of places can leave you speechless, but the chefs are top notch, it is on the expensive side. However, it's worth every penny

We always travel to Liverpool and used to have a favourite restaurant, but we wanted something different for a change. Bacaro was a pleasant surprise. We booked in advance, and by the time we arrived, the restaurant was quiet. The waitress was very nice, friendly, and attentive to us. However, we didn’t like the way the food was served all at once, as it created a bit of confusion, but it wasn't a major issue. The focaccia with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was the highlight and should be the first item to try. It was so good and fresh—though a couple more slices would have been appreciated. The pasta was tasty. Recommended

BEWARE IF PAYING BY CASH One thing to say about this restaurant, if you pay by cash count the money out in front of the waiter as they took our payment away and returned saying our bill was £10 short. We both counted the money to ensure it was correct, but it was his word against ours and my partner doesn’t like confrontation so he just gave him the £10 much to my frustration.

Fantastic restaurant. I had a pizzeta with meatballs, guanciale pasta with an aperol spritz. Then cheese board and dessert wine. The chili jam was a too spicy so they brought me the chutney instead! Really delicious food, interesting menu and reasonably priced. Lovely refined atmosphere and great service.

Top quality food - highly recommend the lasagne. Food comes out when ready rather than in any particular order as it is tapas. The portions are quite large but ordered 3 dishes each which was plenty. However, the food was still surpassed by the service. Liverpool is so friendly but the staff were wonderful - even pointing out that the service charge could be removed. It is very busy so needs to be booked in advance. The tables are close to each other so maybe it depends who is next to you - we were a table of 4 next to a table of 2. It can be quite loud but for us it made for a great night. Can't wait to go back next time we are in the pool

Just brilliant, ticketed every box from the curtious staff, interesting menu, lovely atmosphere and great food. We enjoyed a relaxing evening at Bacaro, we were sat at the bar which offered plenty of space and comfortable seats, we had a few tapas dishes all had excellent flavours unusual we ordered desert as we were having such a great evening. We will be visiting again for sure.

Just an absolutely perfect lunch. £19 for three dishes may sound a lot but that was £6.33 for the BEST pan fried sea bass (not pictured) I’ve ever eaten. All the other food was delicious, the pesto aubergine spaghetti (pictured) and the fennel & sausage ragu were highlights. Service was great, we sat at the bar and Tom was really friendly and replaced the non alc beer my wife ordered as she wasn’t enjoying it, no argument. We will be back!

Can’t fault the place, my go to referral whenever anyone says ‘where should I eat in Liverpool?’ - exceptional food, really nice staff, appropriately priced for portion size, only issue is that it isn’t bigger because you’re not getting in without a reservation, which further serves as a compliment to how good this place is - will always go again!

Very good idea of ​​Italian food, the dishes I ordered were delicious! (cod with mushrooms, lasagna and taglia with cordeo ragout) you must order the bread separately as a dish. I think they could find an intermediate solution to that (the bread is worth it, but your plate needs something to clean it! In a good way). The good thing is that you can ask for several things. That normally they would be a single dish, I had not seen it before. Italian, good for you! . Very good people at the bar, attentive, collaborating with the people in the room. I highly recommend it if you are in the city.

For service, we had Lisa look after us, and she was brilliant, polite, quick, and easy to talk to! Overall, we had a great experience and will come again in the future.

Just amazing tasty food with choices for everyone. A new drink on the menu Limoncello Sangria, delicious. Staff are amongst the politest. On this visit we were looked after by Laura who was so attentive. Just some advice , spread your food order. If you don’t all food comes quite quickly and table fills with plates and takes away some of the enjoyment and temperature of food drops. A round of one dish each then go again.

We were very unsure what to order when we arrived as we had two teenagers and a 10 year old with us, and although the idea of Tapas really appealed to my husband and I my kids were not too enthusiastic! However Laura advised us so well and told us exactly how we should order. She was absolutely amazing. Laura you are a gem! You made our meal. We would definitely come back ... but only if Laura is working!

Italian food restaurant in Liverpool. The atmosphere is very pleasant and well decorated, lower lights with a very nice bar. The food is excellent, but the dishes are small (they explained to me that it is the concept of “tapas”). I tried the “Slow cooked harissa lamb tagliatelle, grana padano” and the Tiramisu (incredible!!!). The service is great, everyone is very attentive. Thanks!

We visited Bacaro for lunch on Saturday and had the three plates for £18 menu. The food was unbelievable, absolutely packed with delicious flavours. Each dish was also beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and attentive and the place was buzzing with a great atmosphere. I was only visiting Liverpool otherwise I think I'd be back in there every week.

Delicious Italian food served like tapas. Large food and wine selection of any kind. The place is cozy and service is great. Would definitely return and recommend this place for anyone who is hungry!

absolutely loved the food at bacaro! my partner and i had their lunch menu at £30. i liked they take food allergies very seriously and even have a separate menu for dairy free food. i could enjoy pizzas with dairy free cheese service was fantastic when we asked for recommendations — loved the honey soy chicken and grilled sea bass do remember to make a reservation before coming by as they are really busy

We think best restaraunt in liverpool centre. Food really delicious, staff always lovely. Such a good atmosphere wether day or night. The black pudding, any of the fish, Norma pasta, goats cheese honey pearls, all delicious, and more of course. You can't really go wrong.

If I could give this place 500 stars I would. I was diagnosed with IBS and was told by the doctors to cut out gluten + dairy and no garlic or onion, eating out is virtually impossible for me and always a stress… but as soon as I walked in, we were served by Carolina, who went back and forward with the chefs in the kitchen to ensure they could make me something safe to eat, I ended up with 3 dishes and they were all delicious. It’s the first time I’ve enjoyed eating out in almost a year. So firstly, Carolina you are a star!! & to the chefs who made my food, it was delicious! finally, this is a great restaurant who take dietary requirements seriously ( they have separate gluten free, vegan and dairy free menus) , I’m not sure they’d want me to return!! but I’d certainly come here for a lovely meal again. Thank you team Bacaro, you made my trip to Liverpool a memorable one.

Really enjoyed our visit here. It’s a 5-star experience based on the lunch menu and concept – you can get 3 courses for £15, so we combined and shared six (pictured below!), which was plenty. We paired it with a carafe of Montepulciano. Our servers were attentive, and the food arrived promptly without any long waits. The quality was excellent for the price, and I love the idea of Italian tapas! It’s a lively, busy spot where people are enjoying cocktails and meals, right in the heart of Liverpool. The decor is lovely, and you can watch the chefs cooking everything from scratch. Skip the boring chains and come here – highly recommended!

Great food, service very bad, some waitresses without apron and without dress changes, bar lad cutt his hand witch means should have a glove on his hand, not just a bandage because of blood contamination, waitress opened a bottle of wine holding the top neck of the bottle in her hands….. I had a great service, but what I’ve seen around was really … bad

We normally eat here on special occasions so maybe three times a year . Although the food was tasty the portion sizes have reduced dramatically. I ordered the Slow cooked Harisa lamb tagliatelle and searched but gave up hope of trying to find any lamb . Disappointing really as we had a fantastic meal here in April .

First time visit for three people. Basically it's an Italian tapas bar. Fantastic food. A couple of dishes weren't to everyone's taste but that was just a matter of personal choice. The Italian wine was superb. The staff went overboard to fit us in because our original table was in use. We were late. Prices were very reasonable.

Really disappointing experience. Visited Bacaro many times and came for dinner with some friends. Initially had to send my food back as it was overcooked, then when it came to paying the bill we were accused of being short of the amount due. We had already paid a deposit and paid more than the amount due including service charge and a tip. After reprinting 4 receipts and 4 staff stood round the till for more than 20 minutes while we sat waiting, the manager admitted it was a misunderstanding and an error on their till. Really disappointing and awkward end to the meal, and little to no acknowledgment or attempt to make up for the poor service and waiting round at the end of our meal.

Food was good however staff tried to scam extra on top of our bill, took near 10 people to figure out what we had told them the entire time. “A miss understanding” wasn’t a miss understanding from me and my party when we explained our entire bill multiple times. Staff need training in customer service ASAP.

We visited Liverpool for a couple of days and found this place by chance. Sat at the bar and had an amazing dinner. Our server Lisa was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and had great recommendations. We enjoyed everything she selected for us. We got the mushroom pizza, meatballs, pork belly but the best dishes were the beets with whipped feta and the goat cheese/walnut/honey crostini. Yum!!!! The atmosphere was great and we really enjoyed our dinner. Again, our server was amazing and stayed around after we paid to chat with us. Highly recommend this restaurant!

I’ve been to Bacaro several times, and I’ve always enjoyed the food and service. However, my recent visit left me deeply disappointed. This time, I went without a reservation and was seated near the kitchen, which normally wouldn’t be an issue for me. But to my surprise, this seating arrangement ended up ruining our night. The food was great as always, and the service was excellent. However, throughout the entire evening, a kitchen manager was constantly yelling at the chefs. It was incredibly uncomfortable to witness and hear this. The chefs were doing an amazing job, but I can’t imagine what it must be like to work under those circumstances. I find it hard to believe that this kind of behavior is tolerated in this day and age. It’s a shame because Bacaro has been one of my go-to places, but after this experience, I won’t be returning. I don’t feel right supporting a restaurant that treats its staff this way. It’s truly unfortunate.

A splendid place to enjoy lunch with friends. Excellent food, good wine and first class service.
