Sensational dinner at Pilgrim. Delicious crisp glass of Albariño, sweet potato bread and Jamon with almonds to start us off. Next came the octopus with the cabbage. Both absolutely unreal! Who knew cabbage could be so tasty? The octopus was so so tender, never had octopus like it! For the finale we had the steak from the specials board with jersey royals. Super tasty, well cooked cut of meat, perfectly complimented with crisp potatoes. Can’t believe it’s taken me so long to come to Pilgrim! Looking forward for their new site. Hope it has the same buzz about it as it does in the market.

Received gift voucher for the place and this was one of our first trips out in the current climate and we weren't disappointed. Perfectly secure environment. The member of staff who served us was really attentive too everything, as well as recommending us various dishes which did not dissapoint. I think the highlight which I would recommend was the mackerel. Simply lovely.

Every dish was superb. Our favourite was the Hispi cabbage. It should be illegal to have a dish so good! The prawns transported us back to Spain as did the mackerel. I also never knew I loved turnip so much! The potatoes with salsa verde -omg!!!. Finally, the pork - iberica pluma. I don’t eat red meat but made the exception tonight. You will understand why. Pilgrim is outstanding. Our only regret is that we haven’t been before. The food is very reasonably priced for the quality and standard and the portion sizes are generous.

We paid a £40 deposit to visit recently but then had to cancel over 24 hours before as we had developed Covid symptoms and so had to self isolate. We were chasing the return of the deposit for a couple of months with no response and have now been to be told that over 48 hours notice is needed to get your deposit back. It's not mentioned on the website or anywhere on the booking process so if you do book make sure you don't change your plans or have to self isolate less than 48 hours before you go. Overall it's been a bad experience, both in the lost deposit but then compounded by the length of time we had to wait for a response to our e-mails. Certainly won't be visiting or recommending to others.

Fabulous dining. Different from a conventional “tapas” with a few familiar dishes together with twists we had not experienced before. 3 of us greedily chose 9 dishes and a few different glasses of wine. Without exception the dishes were wonderful. The dishes flowed at a sensible time and explained well by staff. The set menus was not available (Covid realignment) which was understandable so I would really enjoy a revisit when fully up and running. Would love them to open in London.

This was my second visit to Pilgrim. The first I have to say was much better than last night. We had sweet potato bread which was delicious, padron peppers - nice enough mushroom with egg puree - none of our party liked this dish. corn on the cobs in like a bolegnese sauce - these were delicious. prawns in aioli - very good quality prawns and lovely sauce. Steak - cooked perfectly chocolate mousse - I had this on my first visit and it was amazing and I couldn't wait to try it again but it really disappointed. It was a lot smaller this time round and they had put basil in the oil which completely ruined it for me. I have woken up today as well with a bad headache from what I can only presume was all the salt in the dishes as I didn't drink alcohol. The waiter was really attentive and friendly and service was fast. Bill for 4 of us was £181 with only one carafe of wine in that for £16.

Really fantastic Spanish-inspired menu with great small plates. The menu is pretty small, but that's okay because it means that everything is very high quality and prepared perfectly. The wine list is all Spanish, and includes a nice variety of flavors and regions to accompany any dish. Hopefully this restaurant is an indication of where the food scene in Liverpool is heading.

My partner and I had heard about Pilgrim and seen the posters around Liverpool, so took our chance to sneak in just as they had opened last Saturday at 3pm. We just wanted a little taster to see if all we'd heard about Pilgrim was true. It surpassed our expectations on every level. The staff were so friendly and attentive, the wine; delicious and the food tasted as though it had barely left the garden. We opted for a few light vegetarian plates, which included delicious baked potatoes with salsa verde, moreish green olives and a very delicate courgette based dish. I enjoyed it so much I could barely eat dinner when the time came. In truth I'd rather have stayed at Pilgrim and tried every dish on the menu :) Special shout out to Jamie (one of the owners) for making us feel very special. Long may the pilgrimage continue!

We visited Pilgrims on Thursday night. It was the single best restaurant experience we have had anywhere in a very long time. The food was sensational , we had almost everything on the menu and it was faultless. Difficult to single out a star but the prawns and hispi cabbage were fantastic. Combine first class food with a delicious wine list and Jamie, who was hugely engaging and charming and looked after us very attentively, and you have the perfect experience. Each and every dish was delightful and cooked to perfection. We used to live in Liverpool and always found the food scene to be a bit lacking but oh how it’s changed! We tried this place at the last minute on the recommendation of a chef friend and Jamie was very accommodating in our request for a walk in. Initial impressions were confused as there was a long queue outside the food market which we were tempted to join but apparently having a specific booking we were able to bypass and just walk up the stairs to the restaurant. Once in we were rapidly seated at the mezzanine counter and menus offered along with a choice of water. Shortly thereafter we were offered a drink (wholeheartedly recommend the 1906 Black Coupage if you like your beer strong and sticky) and my partner went for a G&T. Food is delivered when ready so first out were the padron peppers and the sweet potato bread. For some reason restaurants in London have stopped with the Russian roulette of the odd fiery pepper so we were taken by surprise when we both got an eye-waterer. Still, well cooked and the bread was delicious. Next up were the King prawns with aioli and sumac. Delicious and perfectly cooked. The mushrooms and egg yolk weren't quite to our taste (bit salty but hey ho) but the flame roasted sweetcorn and accompanying sauces were delicious. Finally the Iberica Pluma with mojo rojo cooked over an open flame was OUTSTANDING - a lovely bit of meat. Jamie dropped by our table to check all was well and we got to hear a bit of the history of the restaurant's genesis (we're not big TV fans so had missed it). Very nice bloke. The bill arrived and was a pleasant surprise - especially with the government discount. All in all a very satisfactory experience! Recommended.

From beginning to end our meal at Pilgrim was superb. The atmosphere is chilled out, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food is up there with the best I've eaten. The menu is concise and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into every aspect of it. Despite the restaurant being quite busy the service was super quick, minutes after ordering we were served with our first dish. Some people are saying it's expensive, however £60 for drinks, 5 main dishes (one of which being a piece of Iberico pork) and a dessert between two I thought was very reasonable for the quality of food. Probably going to have to make several trips over to Livepool especially to visit this restaurant again!

Bought a bunch of items to share including octopus, steak, a selection of coal roasted veg and tortilla. I thought the whole thing was great and especially the location. It’s set in a food market which is just full of atmosphere. They had a toilet...

Fabulous food and a great vibe! The food was exquisite and the chef explained the dishes to us which was a nice touch! Nice relaxed atmosphere and staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit and all the food is seasonal and fresh which is great! We’ll be back for sure!!

Pilgrim is one of the most interesting menus in Liverpool right now. Located in the new duke street market which is amazing. You can literally stay there all day with so many options to choose from. Will definitely be coming again.

I dined here whilst travelling for business, and as a woman alone, I was made to feel very comfortable. On top of that, the food was wonderful. I had chicken kebabs with rice, salad and chips with a very reasonably priced glass of white wine. I will definitely return!
