Spent the evening at The Mousetrap, the staff in particular Troy was super attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Customer service is excellent, delightful young man who makes the place very special and welcoming to all.

Called in on Sunday afternoon for a drink. Didnt eat on this occasion but have in the past and the cheese boards are out of this world. Staff at the Mousetrap have always been lovely but on this occasion the young man serving us (troy) was an absolute delight. What an asset to the business. So friendly and attentive. We ended up staying much longer than we had intended. The live music was also very good and created a really nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend calling in on Sundays, great food, great service and great atmosphere.

A friendly and relaxed venue with fabulous platters - always a good option with a vegetarian husband and friends. Best Homity Pie I’ve had and the cheeses were delicious. Very generous portions and huge variety on the platters. Very impressed and will be back.

We met an old friend for lunch and passed a lovely couple of hours catching up over an excellent selection of cheese, olives and some gorgeous spicy chorizo, pate etc. The platters are very well presented and the staff pleasant and attentive. In these strange times I would however prefer to see the staff preparing the food with face masks on. I dont know if that is obligatory but it would make me feel a tad more comfortable tbh.

If you like nice wines, nice cheeses, great atmosphere and relaxed service this is the place for you. Me and my partner booked in advance after reading it was a busy place and we were glad we did. Your table is allocated for 2hrs which is more than enough time to sample the great wines, meats and cheeses. We had the meat and cheese sharing platter and it was a beautiful array for two personally selected cheeses, Italian meats, crackers, breads, pate, olives, chutney and sundries tomatoes which was washed down with a lovely selected red. We also tried a cocktail each which again was lovely. I will definitely return in the future!

I booked a table mid week for 3 last minute. I requested one suitable for a disabled relative and they happily accommodated us. My Aunty struggles to walk and has use of a stick/walker. The entry ramp is a little steep for a disabled guest but there is no steps to enter. We had to be dropped off on double yellows as it’s a main road and she struggles to walk the distance away we had to park. This did not seem to be a problem. The food we ate was delicious. We had a large cheese and meat platter and a blue cheese platter. We had a selection of the local cheeses as my aunt was over from New Zealand. They also have my favourite orange Whitley Neill Gin. It was lovely for a different kind lunch. Great selection of cheeses and very enjoyable. Nice atmosphere for having a lunch and a chat. However, i also then visited on an weekend evening. On this occasion I found it a bit over crowded and less enjoyable due to a lack of seats. It was too busy and noisy for such a small venue. The toilets are also unisex and only 2 cubical. Less of a problem in the day. But very unpleasant in the evening. They stank and you could smell it every time the door was left open. I’m not a fan of unisex toilets and when the venue is as busy as it was it ended up with queues and a man hounding us in the toilets. I found the 2 experience very different. I would 100% recommend the venue for lunch. We also took home 2 blocks of cheese which were really tasty and authentic. The cheese wasn’t cheap but that’s what you would expect for the level of quality. I’m awarding 4 as the lunch visit alone would have been a 5 but it was let down by the overcrowded unpleasant evening. I would give the evening a second chance and hopefully find it to be better as the drinks, food and service were great on both occasions.

Went as a group of four for an afternoon treat. Good atmosphere and service. We had A Platter of cheese and meats to share with a bottle of wine. Loved the cheeses and accompaniments but the meats were bog standard ham, turkey and beef which didn’t really compliment the cheeses so a bit disappointed. But the rest really made up for this so didn’t say anything. The price was very reasonable (£15 each) Will certainly go back!!

Spent a Sunday afyernoon here with friends. We enjoyed the delights of the platters, allowing us to graze and chat whilst we caught up. A fabulous wine list, we enjoyed a couple of bottles of a lovely Sauvignon Blanc followed by cocktails. The service was excellent and we were looked after well. Attentive yet not invasive. Food was lovely, atmosphere great. Live music started not long before we left. Will be back soon.

I visited the Mousetrap in February and April this year with different groups of friends and I’m sure I’ll be visiting many more times in the future! The platters are great for sharing and trying different cheeses but you can also pick your own cheese platter which was good for my pregnant friend who was avoiding certain cheeses. The first time we went I opted for the red rose cheeses (when in Lancashire!) and the next time we tried the European cheeses. All great! The staff are very knowledgable about cheese and are great at making recommendations as well as giving tasters if you’re unsure. The cafe is very casual and has a lovely atmosphere. The alcohol selection looks impressive, but as we had driven over from Manchester we didn’t get to give it much of a try!

We opted for the large Lancashire shared platter which included pork pies, sausage rolls, pickles, chutneys, cheese, crackers bread and butter £22 and a smaller french cheese shared board about £14. The large ones is suitable for 2-4 people and the smaller one for 2 people. We also had two bottles of red wine, two pints of larger and three espresso cocktails and the bill for all four of us was £96 which was excellent value for money. We went on a Saturday night so was very busy but we had booked. A lot of people just come in for drinks which is okay but it can be a bit crowded near your tables. I would definitely go back but I might opt for going midweek to see if its a bit quieter.

So when it's lunchtime on a Sunday and the last thing you fancy is a roast lunch head to the Mousetrap! You can choose from local and international cheese boards which come as sharing platters or individuals. You get breads, crackers, chutney etc. The fact that you are sharing creates a really sociable atmosphere and there's a great - 'ooh try THAT one!' There's a mix of comfy sofas, high stools and regular seats. The staff were relaxed and welcomed the one small child that accompanied our group of 4 adults - that said it's not really a kiddie place. I gather the ambience is different at night so will try it again!

Lovely food and wine. I was suprised by how quiet it was for a Friday night. I booked the table months in advance. The moustrap now has it's own licence so maybe it's not as appealing to some who liked taking their own alcohol. The meat on the meat and cheese board was locally sourced. Helpful pleasant staff and we even saw a famous football face on our visit. I would go again.

Lovely place to chill out. Took some relations here over the Christmas period and really enjoyed it. Waitress was helpful with her knowledge of the shared cheese platters and we did not feel rushed. It may not be the cheapest place to eat but I think the quality of the cheese and wine was really worth it.

I went to the Mousetrap with a group of friends for our annual girly xmas outing on Friday night. We had a selection of meat and cheese platters and they were just delicious. The bar was very busy as there was a live saxophonist playing who was fantastic and really added the party atmosphere. The service was nonetheless quick and efficient and the staff were very helpful. The selection of drinks and cocktails was impressive (sampled a number of gin and tonics and can highly recommend!) Would highly recommend to anyone, book ahead though as no doubt will be very busy.

We visited early on a Friday night, we had a high table with two chairs & a long bench. We opted for a sharing platter with meat & cheese & added an extra cheese as there was three of us. One of the items off the menu had sold out so we opted for fresh bread, olives & garlic dip I have to say we weren't disappointed with any of it. It all tasted so fresh the garlic dip was to die for along with the different cheeses. We had two bottles of wine with the food which was reasonably priced as was the food. The waitress was very pleasant & could recommend different cheeses & we didn't feel rushed or that the staff were obtrusive. Can't wait to go back & try some different cheeses.

When our friends told us they wanted to take us to a cafe to have cheese and cake, we were not sure if they were joking or not, but sure enough The Mousetrap carries on the northern england tradition of cheese with cake. Visited here just for coffee and scones. The owner explained he was busy as tables of 10 and 8 had arrived and he only had one staff member. He asked if we would mind waiting 20 minutes which we said we would. However it was 30 minutes before we had our order taken and when it arrived 10 minutes later the coffee was just warm. I had to ask if we could have the scones at the same time but we had long finished our drinks by the time they came 45 minutes after we arrived. Scones very nice and the owner was very apologetic about the wait, but if he had said it would be 45 minutes we would have gone elsewhere

This is my 5th visit and never get bored of it as you can choose 5 other different cheeses for a sharing platter from a huge selection. But the Flamin' Eck is a must for spicy cheese fans. So in my case it is 4 plus the Flamin' Eck. Always well presented, with a quality chutney, butter and grapes, with always the option for more if you run out. As the owner has now introduced alternative Friday nights I will be looking to book for a group of friends so we can enjoy a few bring your own alcoholic beverages to go with the cheese. Toilets are immaculate and my wife loves the little towels to dry your hands. Such a unique place and definitely a must when visiting Ramsbottom. Would love a choice of some quality salamis to compliment the cheese, or even a few silverskin pickles would go well on the platter too. Looking forward to our next visit soon.

The idea behind this place is really lovely, but there are little details lacking which leave it feeling a touch amateurish. The decor is clean and fresh but not at all cosy, and, combined with the large pine tables has an almost late-80's feel. The size of the tables (seats 4 at the smallest) also contributes to the lack of cosy atmosphere. Two easily remedied minor issues are 1)the tea is just tea bags, not loose leaf, and you get a coffee cup to drink it from, and 2)the music- when we were there, the radio was on (radio 2 showtunes- uurgh!), which really lowers the tone and, again, contributes to the lack of atmosphere. Otherwise, this is a really sweet little place- they have a good cheese selection and the cheese platters are beautifully presented, delicious and very generous. I would visit again, but perhaps with friends or a large group rather than with my husband.
