We fell in love with this pub the first time we visited, and second time we returned, we were recognised and treated like regulars. (Nowadays rare and) outstanding hospitality, thank you! They grow their own vegetables: the food is fresh, seasonal and very well presented. Also, quite big portions. They do get very busy, therefore, if you want to eat or sit inside, you must book in advance. Otherwise, there is plenty of seating outside to enjoy the beautiful views.

This place is very expensive for what you get , I ordered beef burger at £18 or more, which didn’t taste right & it was red inside, I told them about it, & all that was said was, I’ll let the kitchen know. I’d left most of my burger & the chips that came with the meal, the chips was more like scratching from the bottom of the bag. She did not offer to do anything to put it right & no money off bill.

We got there just about lunch time - unknowingly before the lunch rush. We have been in England the whole week and the weather has been great. Blue skies and sunny as you can see in my pictures. My wife and I split the Greek salad and the Chicken leek and potato pie. The food was amazing. The salad had mint and that was a nice little touch, along with the dressing and fresh tomatoes that made the whole combo delicious. The pie was also nice and hot and filled with great chunks of chicken and potatoes. The gravy was very savory and added to the whole pie experience. The hand cut chips (French fries) were very good too a shame they only had 50% reduced sugar ketchup. But the view was amazing and the food matched the view.

The Mount has become our favourite place to eat in this area, the welcome and food are second to none. It's a superb location too, in the picture box location of Stanton, set high up with views to the west. A great menu with something for everyone, we had scallops as a starter with skate wings, off the bone, as a main, both were exceptional put together by a chef who knows his craft. It's a lovely old pub with a great character where you are really made to feel welcome. Look forward to the next time.

Terrible experience when away for the weekend. The chef Carl was argumentative and rude when I returned the food he presented and told me that the other people he had served had not Complained so therefore I was wrong and would have to pay for two diners. He refused to remove the meal from the bill even though not eaten . Morally corrupt and greedy. The only PUB in Stanton so obviously felt he had the right to be a bully. We had to pay for food not eaten and kindly left a tip, for his wife, but would not recommend that anyone eat here with that attitude of godlier than thou and utter rudeness to a customer . Always delivers! I so love The Mount, I just wish I lived nearer. Met a friend for lunch today, he had the Goat Cheese Tart starter and burger Main, I had the Boeuf Bourguignon. My friend raved over his meal, the BB was utterly outstanding. The beef was soft and succulent, the gravy, was full of flavour, the home-grown vegetables and mash utterly mouthwatering. Well done to the lovely Pip who despite scurrying around like a Duracel Bunny(!) always had time to stop, smile and listen to her customers. Prices very reasonable, portions generous. Strongly recommend booking a table in advance - they were really clear and helpful via email in making the reservation, and everything was perfect when we turned up. Service was beautiful, best we've had in ages. Food was brilliant, with some ingredients from the pub's garden and portions from chef that defeated some of a fairly sturdy walking party! We were on a walking tour and The Mount Inn was highly recommended as a lunch stop (I'd recommend it for dinner as well). The service was fantastic - despite no wait staff - the chef and his wife looked after us. The food was creative and delicious, a fair bit sourced from their own garden, and the entire experience very pleasant. It's not a large place (though charming with a fantastic view), and the demand is high, so I highly recommend you obtain reservations in advance; we were strongly advised to book in advance. I observed a few people turned away because they were fully booked out (with some grumbling) and that is also evident in other reviews here. This is not a function of this place being bad - quite the contrary. Just about the best lunch experience we had in 8 days.

This place is absolutely charming. We were staying in Broadway at Russell's and came here for supper one night. The place is delightful, the menu is a little more interesting than the usual pub suppers to be had in the area. The service is attentive and gracious and the food was delicious. Note that for the full restaurant menu you have to sit inside (there is a smaller menu for outside), but that won't stop you from going outside on the terrace after you eat and sitting with a drink looking out over the village. Highly recommended.

This review relates only to the service, as we did not eat anything. We visited in July 2024. We arrived 30 minutes before closing time, which I knew and acknowledged to the woman behind the bar the moment I walked through the door. With a smile I clearly stated that we weren't looking for food, only a quick drink on the terrace where there's a wonderful view. The response, and our treatment during our stay was nothing short of shockingly rude. After informing me in a very unfriendly tone that "the kitchen is closed anyway", we were begrudgingly served drinks, and two chairs on the terrace were dried off as it had rained shortly before. We were three people, however, and when we asked if one more chair could be dried off it was done with a very snide remark, something about us figuring out where to sit. I went to the bathroom immediately, and thank goodness I did because while I was in there my husband and mother were informed that the bathrooms were closing. We were then locked out of the building along with a few other guests (mind you, this was still about 15 minutes before official closing time), forcing us to exit directly from the terrace via a steep path with no handrail that was not easy to navigate for my 82 year old mother, or me with an injured knee. I've never left a one star review before, but never before have I experienced such terrible ill-mannered service, for no apparent reason other than having the audacity to ask for a drink in an establishment that is still open for another 30 minutes. A final remark: I don't believe this had anything to do with us or our behaviour, as the other guests seemed just as shocked and bewildered as we were.

Not for walkers? The other reviewers here are right. We waited outside until the midday opening time and then waited inside in a queue of four couples. A staff member appeared and seated the first couple and then started taking their drinks order and putting it in their computer (slowly…!) while we other three couples were still waiting in the queue for 8+ minutes to be seated. Then a second staff member arrived, by which time we had given up and concluded at the rate things were going we would be there a few hours to get lunch, and decided just to buy a bag of crisps at the bar. I said ‘I see you have beef flavour, what other flavours are there?’ In reply to which the staff member said ‘On the board’. She came across as rather perfunctory. Our impression is that the staff here wouldn’t know hospitality or friendliness if it hit them in the face! My partner felt very much treated like a second class citizen. Maybe their attitude to us was because we were in hiking clothes although we had removed our boots at the door as their sign requests. Perhaps they are really targeting the long lunch trade. A very unsatisfactory experience.

Every time our server stepped back to the kitchen, the chef would scream at our server at the top of his lungs. The swearing, name calling, and patronizing language from the chef made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere and was clearly creating a negative working environment. After two and one-half hours of sitting in a hot glass enclosed area while other dining parties came and went, and after receiving several rude corrections of our use of English language by the waitress named Pipster, she disappeared without providing a bill, so I paid at the counter just so we could be done and escape the dismal experience. Poor service and food. Originally booked a table inside but decided to eat outside to admire the view. Was told they only offered a limited menus outside. Ordered fish and chips and scampi and chips and a pint and a half of San Miguel. There was a problem with the beer so after waiting at the bar 10 minutes I was told to sit down and they would bring the drinks over. The food arrived before the drinks! The fish and chips were greasy and more batter than fish and the scampi was not much better. The tables and chairs were cheap plastic and not cleaner between customers. Luckily it was overcast as there was not any shade or parasols outside. The staff seemed unable to cope and seemed harassed. Plates were not cleared quickly in fact people were taking their own plates to the bar to clear their table. When asked by the waiter if everything was ok I said the fish was very greasy, he said in a blaze manner ok, I will mention it to the chef and walked off. The village of Stanton is well worth a visit but I would eat elsewhere. They are guaranteed to be busy as they cash in on the amazing view but their service and food is poor

Amazing food, fantastic service. Gorgeous traditional pub! Pip and her team couldn't be more welcoming. We visited with a group of 16 whilst enjoying a few days away for the Cheltenham racing festival. The age range was from 20 to 70+. Everyone loved the food and the beer was great too. Can't wait to go back next year! Thanks Pip!!

Amazing location, beautiful pub, lovely beer but no food for walkers! We stopped in on a long walk expecting to get some food but we were refused food and told we could only eat if we booked. Lots of tables outside but they weren't prepared to make us anything not even a bowl of chips. Could you even just have a plate of rolls on the bar for walkers to buy? We saw at least 4 other groups in the same boat 😕. Lovely pint and some crisps but not what I was hoping for.

Love this pub! The food is just fine for what it is but the atmosphere and interior are so cozy and so beautiful. I usually do a long days walking in the surrounding hills of the Cotswolds then nip here to have a bite to eat, a pint, and take in the beautiful sunset from any of the large windows at the back. Great team who look after the place. A very local vibe.

The landlords are wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. They were attentive and even remembered me from my last visit. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and the community is so kind. The duck was to die for and the open fire was the icing on the cake. I can’t wait to return! My pub away from home.

We stumbled in to this cracking pub on the end of an autumnal walk through some wonderful Cotswold countryside. Lovely welcome and cosy atmosphere with a log fire going. The lunchtime food being served looked great so we decided to return the following evening for dinner. Equally warm welcome and now we’re able to vouch for wonderful food as well. We opted for one of the specials although the regular plates looked equally as good. We’d stayed in Broadway for several days but this was the best food we’d had during the trip and well worth the drive to get there.

Set in a stunning Cotswold village with exceptional views of the surrounding countryside. Lovely little pub, open fires, dog friendly, the food was exceptional. I highly recommend booking a table. We were lucky to get seated without a booking. The pies were delicious and served with great homegrown vegetables and chips. We will definitely be going back and look forward to trying their Sunday roasts.

Enjoyed a fab Sunday roast in this lovely pub in an idyllic setting. The portions were very generous, service was great and they looked after our Jack Russel, and he even had his own menu lol. Will definitely return if we are back in the area.

An excellent lunch with friendly service and some local beers, arranged for a group of us by a friend who lives in the village. Stanton is predominately a village of honey coloured stone properties that lies on the Cotswold Way which passes by the pub, which sits high up a steep road. Even if driving there’s a steep slope then steps down to the entrance. Lots of outdoor seating for summer views. Portions are substantial - we saw a mezze platter at a nearby table that would easily cover more than the 2-3 stated, and all of our mains and desserts were excellent. The main menu is very short, but the specials extensive and varied with many fresh veg seeming to come from the pub garden. I suspect booking is essential

I just wish I had read all the reviews about how rude the manager/landlady is!! From when we first stepped into the pub we were greeted with a frosty reception and no smile. We sat outside and the view is lovely but unfortunately the terrible customer service ruined the whole experience for us. We politely had to complain about one meal as the fish had a funny taste but the manager was very defensive and basically wasn’t going to listen to anything we had to say! No apology was given at any point. We asked for a refund on the one meal which was given. Just very rude and lacking in basic customer service which you’d think most pubs pride themselves on. A smile and friendly service goes a long way!!

What a beautiful place to stop for a drink and enjoy the view, there is a beer garden area, a restaurant area inside which is lovely and a balcony area. To eat in the restaurant I would book a table as it is busy and reserved. If you eat outside there is a lite bites separate menu you can order from and I must say wow, it was amazing quality.

Stumbled upon this when visiting Broadway and it was fantastic. Got the seafood basket which was a mix of fish, calamari and whitebait. Really hard to find a mix of fresh fish like this in England unless you're on the coast, but it all tasted delicious. Also had haddock and chips and it was hot and fresh and tasted lovely. Will definitely be visiting again

We arrived at the pub on a cold wet Thursday evening, looked at the menu posted outside and decided to pop in. We were directed by a couple of locals outside into the eating side. The atmosphere was welcoming, as were the staff. We ordered faggots and mash, and lasagne. It was lovely. Hot and freshly cooked, decent portions very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend a visit.
