Amazingly friendly service and also so kind to our six-month old puppy - even offering us a great table to sit at so she could sleep. Don’t skip the chicken pie or lamb rump - my husband and I would both recommend to friends.

We had a great time here after a 2 mile walk on the public foot paths from Buckland on a Sunday afternoon. We were delighted to see the shoe covers for our Wellies as the paths were quite mucky. Pip, our server, was personable, fun and gracious. The views are just stunning! All four of us highly recommend this spot!

We've been coming to The Mount for years and last nights dinner was the best ever! The pork with delicious crackling sat on sage mash with lovely fresh vegetables. Also excellent was the roast partridge with mushrooms. Pippa and her colleague was so attentive and gave us great service. The atmosphere and warmth were classic British pub.

Had our reservations after reading the past reviews and we had to chase to confirm the booking. Superb location, fantastic views. Can’t fault the service, generous food portions and very tasty. Reasonably priced. Great ambience All in all can’t fault this, great experience and we would definitely go again. If you arrive early don’t expect your order to be taken until it is the time you booked, that’s just how it works here. Thats ok Definitely worth a visit

Always delivers! I so love The Mount, I just wish I lived nearer. Met a friend for lunch today, he had the Goat Cheese Tart starter and burger Main, I had the Boeuf Bourguignon. My friend raved over his meal, the BB was utterly outstanding. The beef was soft and succulent, the gravy, was full of flavour, the home-grown vegetables and mash utterly mouthwatering. Well done to the lovely Pip who despite scurrying around like a Duracel Bunny(!) always had time to stop, smile and listen to her customers. Prices very reasonable, portions generous. Cannot wait to return.

One of only 2 pubs in the town of Stanton. Elevated location (up a pretty steep hill) provides a nice view of the surrounding countryside. The people at the Inn were welcoming and warm, as was the atmosphere they helped to create. We had ciders and rested our feet while it showered outside.

Absolutely fantastic. They looked after 6 of us for dinner so well. Strongly recommend booking a table in advance - they were really clear and helpful via email in making the reservation, and everything was perfect when we turned up. Service was beautiful, best we've had in ages. Food was brilliant, with some ingredients from the pub's garden and portions from chef that defeated some of a fairly sturdy walking party! Excellent local beers too, and a cosy atmosphere plus pub cat. 100%, thank you so much to everyone at the Mount Inn!

What an amazing place, you must visit. The views from the pub are something else. We only stayed for drinks as they had sadly stopped serving food until the evening, menu looked so good. We were on a walking tour and The Mount Inn was highly recommended as a lunch stop (I'd recommend it for dinner as well). The service was fantastic - despite no wait staff - the chef and his wife looked after us. The food was creative and delicious, a fair bit sourced from their own garden, and the entire experience very pleasant. It's not a large place (though charming with a fantastic view), and the demand is high, so I highly recommend you obtain reservations in advance; we were strongly advised to book in advance. I observed a few people turned away because they were fully booked out (with some grumbling) and that is also evident in other reviews here. This is not a function of this place being bad - quite the contrary. Just about the best lunch experience we had in 8 days.

We called in last night, just for drinks. What a lovely place! Fabulous views, great outdoor seating and envious, looking at the vegetable beds! We didn’t eat this time, but will definitely come back, the menu and the food looked good, great aromas, too! Essential to book for food, as very busy, which was lovely to see. Great range of beers and lager, delicious cappuccino, with more depth of flavour, I was spoiled! Thank you!

This place is absolutely charming. We were staying in Broadway at Russell's and came here for supper one night. The place is delightful, the menu is a little more interesting than the usual pub suppers to be had in the area. The service is attentive and gracious and the food was delicious. Note that for the full restaurant menu you have to sit inside (there is a smaller menu for outside), but that won't stop you from going outside on the terrace after you eat and sitting with a drink looking out over the village. Highly recommended.

This review relates only to the service, as we did not eat anything. We arrived 30 minutes before closing time, which I knew and acknowledged to the woman behind the bar the moment I walked through the door. With a smile I clearly stated that we weren't looking for food, only a quick drink on the terrace where there's a wonderful view. The response, and our treatment during our stay was nothing short of shockingly rude. After informing me in a very unfriendly tone that "the kitchen is closed anyway", we were begrudgingly served drinks, and two chairs on the terrace were dried off as it had rained shortly before. We were three people, however, and when we asked if one more chair could be dried off it was done with a very snide remark, something about us figuring out where to sit. I went to the bathroom immediately, and thank goodness I did because while I was in there my husband and mother were informed that the bathrooms were closing. We were then locked out of the building along with a few other guests (mind you, this was still about 15 minutes before official closing time), forcing us to exit directly from the terrace via a steep path with no handrail that was not easy to navigate for my 82 year old mother, or me with an injured knee. I've never left a one star review before, but never before have I experienced such terrible ill-mannered service, for no apparent reason other than having the audacity to ask for a drink in an establishment that is still open for another 30 minutes. A final remark: I don't believe this had anything to do with us or our behaviour, as the other guests seemed just as shocked and bewildered as we were.

Not for walkers? The other reviewers here are right. We waited outside until the midday opening time and then waited inside in a queue of four couples. A staff member appeared and seated the first couple and then started taking their drinks order and putting it in their computer (slowly…!) while we other three couples were still waiting in the queue for 8+ minutes to be seated. Then a second staff member arrived, by which time we had given up and concluded at the rate things were going we would be there a few hours to get lunch, and decided just to buy a bag of crisps at the bar. I said ‘I see you have beef flavour, what other flavours are there?’ In reply to which the staff member said ‘On the board’. She came across as rather perfunctory. Our impression is that the staff here wouldn’t know hospitality or friendliness if it hit them in the face! My partner felt very much treated like a second class citizen. Maybe their attitude to us was because we were in hiking clothes although we had removed our boots at the door as their sign requests. Perhaps they are really targeting the long lunch trade. A very unsatisfactory experience.

I really enjoyed the food, the service, and the location. And I want to highlight that my server was amazing. Unfortionately, the chef didn't feel the same. Every time our server stepped back to the kitchen, the chef would scream at our server at the top of his lungs. The swearing, name calling, and patronizing language from the chef made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere and was clearly creating a negative working environment. No one deserves to work in this kind of environment. I left that place feeling absolutely terrible. I was literally shaking.

This is the only restaurant in the village and there are no grocery stores. I requested a reservation online for our party of five, but never received a response. We went to the restaurant and were told they had not received my request, but if we were patient they would seat us. After two and one-half hours of sitting in a hot glass enclosed area while other dining parties came and went, and after receiving several rude corrections of our use of English language by the waitress named Pipster, she disappeared without providing a bill, so I paid at the counter just so we could be done and escape the dismal experience. Pipster, in the future it would be better not to seat someone than to do so and ignore their presence.

Poor service and food. Originally booked a table inside but decided to eat outside to admire the view. Was told they only offered a limited menus outside. Ordered fish and chips and scampi and chips and a pint and a half of San Miguel. There was a problem with the beer so after waiting at the bar 10 minutes I was told to sit down and they would bring the drinks over. The food arrived before the drinks! The fish and chips were greasy and more batter than fish and the scampi was not much better. The tables and chairs were cheap plastic and not cleaner between customers. Luckily it was overcast as there was not any shade or parasols outside. The staff seemed unable to cope and seemed harassed. Plates were not cleared quickly in fact people were taking their own plates to the bar to clear their table. When asked by the waiter if everything was ok I said the fish was very greasy, he said in a blaze manner ok, I will mention it to the chef and walked off. The village of Stanton is well worth a visit but I would eat elsewhere. They are guaranteed to be busy as they cash in on the amazing view but their service and food is poor

I am reluctant to post negative reviews, but we had been walking on a hot day and included the pub on our itinerary as a place to stop for a drink (from Broadway to Winchcombe, there are only a few possible places to call in) The pub said it was open 12-3pm on Tuesdays, and we got there just before 2.25pm, along with another lady from Canada and a family of 4 in a car. A couple waiting for a taxi said the pub had closed early as there was no food. Fortunately we had water with us. There are no shops in the villages.

We visited here on a Sunday after a 40 minute car ride, lovely village and the pub is situated on the top of the hill overlooking the village and neighbouring countryside. It is quite beautiful. We were ignored whilst waiting by the bar by 2 staff members who continually passed us without acknowledgement. After 10 minutes or more we found a table outside and took a menu. Within 5 minutes we were approached by a member of staff who informed us we were too late for food and she took the menu away from my hand telling me we wouldn't be needing it! Her manner was very abrasive and rude. Despite all the beauty, we were rather taken back by the rude staff and wouldn't return.

We went here looking for food on a Sunday afternoon, it's situated in a beautiful village, and the pub is very picturesque too. Unfortunately we found the staff rude. We arrived and waited by the small bar, a young male member of staff came out, didn't acknowledge us and walked past us. He did this several times and didn't once speak or make eye contact. A woman waitressing passed us a couple of times, also not acknowledging us. After 10 minutes we found a table outside, after another 5 minutes we were approached by a member of staff, she told us they were no longer serving and said we'd no longer be needing the menus & took them back! She did say we were welcome to stay for a drink, but honestly her tone was rude and brusque. So a beautiful pub, sadly, badly let down by the staff!

An excellent lunch with friendly service and some local beers, arranged for a group of us by a friend who lives in the village. Stanton is predominately a village of honey coloured stone properties that lies on the Cotswold Way which passes by the pub, which sits high up a steep road. Even if driving there’s a steep slope then steps down to the entrance. Lots of outdoor seating for summer views. Portions are substantial - we saw a mezze platter at a nearby table that would easily cover more than the 2-3 stated, and all of our mains and desserts were excellent. The main menu is very short, but the specials extensive and varied with many fresh veg seeming to come from the pub garden. I suspect booking is essential

I just wish I had read all the reviews about how rude the manager/landlady is!! From when we first stepped into the pub we were greeted with a frosty reception and no smile. We sat outside and the view is lovely but unfortunately the terrible customer service ruined the whole experience for us. We politely had to complain about one meal as the fish had a funny taste but the manager was very defensive and basically wasn’t going to listen to anything we had to say! No apology was given at any point. We asked for a refund on the one meal which was given. Just very rude and lacking in basic customer service which you’d think most pubs pride themselves on. If you telephone even during opening times no one picks up and you can’t leave a message. They have a prerecorded message which is not kept up to date and you are asked to email. They did answer my email I asked them to call back by phone but they didn’t. The answer is simple. Get someone on board who knows as much about communications as they do already about cooking and gardening and take on more staff. Pip was excellent but she is rushed off her feet.

We were hiking/walking a circular route and after coming down a long hill this pub was a welcome sight. We discovered later that it was the last place we could have eaten/drank before we made it to Broadway. We found a table outside in a gazebo. We ordered our drinks and food at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and patient. The servers were personable as well. Our cured meat platter was excellent and very filling for the two of us. Our drinks were good as well. Food came promptly and we were well looked after.

Called in for a a drink at lunchtime. Lady who served us couldn’t have been less friendly. We were unable sit on the terrace as there were no parasols and it was very hot. So we had to sit in a shady garden area while the terrace with the great views was completely empty because of the sun. £6.40 for 2 lime and sodas was on the expensive side. Won’t be going back.

I have heard the Mount Inn described as a lovely pub in a beautiful location undermined by its management. I experienced this approach when I tried to book a table for the night before my wedding in the neighbouring Stanway. The booking was for dinner for 10 people and I first tried to book around three months in advance. I tried to call a number of times, but each time reached a voicemail message which advised me to email for bookings; so I emailed and (despite gently chasing some weeks later), received no response. Given the lack of response, I decided to pop in one evening to try to book in person: there, I spoke to the manager, who seemed to be aware of my previous attempts to book by email. She told me in no uncertain terms that it would be impossible to accommodate 10 people (in two months' time) because the pub does not take bookings for large groups. Surprised, I suggested we sit in two tables of five and were served separately: I was told this was also impossible. No alternative proposal was offered: we could not eat there. (It goes without saying that there were significantly more than 10 people sat for dinner in the pub on the evening I went to book.) I went away disappointed, but thought I would give it one last chance: I followed up with an email politely requesting that they reconsider taking our booking, and suggesting that we could (i) sit in smaller groups and order separately, (ii) pre-order our meals to ensure the kitchen was not overwhelmed, and/or (iii) order from a reduced menu – e.g. all having fish and chips. I received no response, despite gently following up by email again a few weeks later. It's all just very disappointing. We were staying in the Stanton Guildhouse – just next door to the Mount – and were looking forward to a nice local meal in a quiet pub with lovely views before the wedding. But, for reasons I cannot understand, management was entirely unwilling to accommodate us – despite my making a number of suggestions to avoid the kitchen being overwhelmed (which, in any event, it shouldn't be by a group of 10). We decided to pop by on the night in question for a drink outside - and were eyed suspiciously by the manager through the window. Again, there were significantly more than 10 people sat for dinner in the pub that evening. The Mount's management are lucky that they have a stunning location, limited local competition and a competent chef, as the pub's success seems to have been achieved despite their best efforts.

Great location. Views are excellent. Staff could not have been more helpful and fitted us in for dinner at short notice. Food was good and portions are generous. The menu includes some dishes which use fruit and vegetables grown at the pub. Would definitely return

Mount Inn was excellent. Lovely meals of bangers and mash, and fish and chips was stock standard. It yummy. The plum crumble for dessert was outstanding- get it! And the views are wonderful. The service team were great and attentive, and the food was served promptly. (You will need to book ahead, you are really taking a chance if just try and walk in without a reservation)

I Read some of the reviews about the Landlady which I think are unfair, we went in for drinks and to look at the menu, friendly service and a nice pint of San Miguel, the waitress fussed over our dog, no problem at all, we'll be back for food, the menu looked lovely, we asked Marlow our dog and he definitely wants to go back there so can't wait. 😄

Beautiful setting overlooking Stanton Village and saw sun set. Pip and team were very friendly. I had duck comfort and a beautiful large array of green vegetables best any restaurant has supplied . Mum has sea bass followed by a huge meringue Eton mess and I had a delicious lemon tart. Would definitely recommend it. Plenty of gluten free options too.

Can’t praise this place enough after the care and attention we were given for our daughter and her now fiancé’s engagement dinner. Lovely food, super friendly staff and the whole evening just perfect. Thank you all! Already booked in for Christmas 🙂

We ordered our drinks and when I asked for two roasts the manager a lady was extremely curt “no roast dinners outside, I don’t want my chef to burn out”. I accept we didn’t make a booking, but she was quite rude, robotic and unsympathetic. Needless to say we had our drinks and left. Shame because the drinks were reasonably priced and the view was cracking.

Changed a lot since my last review the wine selection is hit and miss but everything else seems the same, except the atmosphere which feels a tad down, still busy though.

Food as excellent as it has been on previous visits. Service friendly and super helpful when I had an allergen query. The only reason its not 5* across the board is it was so busy and we where seated in a high footfall area that made me feel a bit awkward. Thats not a complaint just unfortunate. Great to see it so busy. Will return.

We arrived at the pub on a cold wet Thursday evening, looked at the menu posted outside and decided to pop in. We were directed by a couple of locals outside into the eating side. The atmosphere was welcoming, as were the staff. We ordered faggots and mash, and lasagne. It was lovely. Hot and freshly cooked, decent portions very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend a visit.
