The Mother Huff Cap in Stratford-on-Avon

Unfortunately Sunday lunch not up to scratch. My daughter's chicken was part pink. The overall food was barely warm. Gravy runny. Cauliflower cheese was a white sauce on wet cauliflower with a bit if melted cheese on top, hot skillet with hardly warm cauliflower in too much water. Needs a proper cheese sauce, seasoning and mustard. Red cabbage very strong vinegar need a bit of sugar. Explained, and not even a free drink. Waiting staff were apologetic and good. Shame kitchen let them down. Def not worth the money charged. Green veg only highlight on the plate.

Absolutely disgusting! Both my mum and I are vegetarians, and ordered the vegan burger. The waitress who served us looked miserable and never apologised, after we were served a burger with chicken and bacon. We were appalled, and being a strict veggie, my mum felt physically sick! Working in the hospitality sector myself, I am appalled and can say that we will NOT be returning

The food was ok, apart from one of our meals, it was awful! Obviously a new chef as been here numerous times before and food always been lovely! Manager came over and said he would give feedback to the chef! No apology, nothing! With a bad attitude We feel this lovely local pub has Gone downhill! And was very disappointed in his attitude! They need to replace the manager before they loose a lot of customers!!!! Won’t be visiting again.

Always loved MHC but had 2 bad experiences in last 2 weeks. Two weeks ago, ordered the rosemary fries but they were plain. Witnessed one man send his peppercorn sauce back as it was like water with no peppercorns. Chef said he strains them out! Girl next to us had a burger and it was red raw. Thought we would try again - perhaps chef was just having a bad day. Obviously not. Scotch Egg starter, the sausage meat wasn't cooked, rosemary fries again were plain and two curries with onion bhaji and mint raita had no bhaji or raita. It seems chef simply can't be bothered to deliver what's promised. There were only 5 people in there. We waited 20 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink and had to ask for the menus, then waited 30 minutes for the starters and had to chase those up too. MHC seems to have really gone downhill. From somewhere we went regularly, sadly it is extremely unlikely we will be going again.

Me and my partner come here a lot not as a couple with family or with friends. We love it here, everyone is so friendly, the food is always served hot and it perfectly presented, it always tastes incredible. Staff are always so helpful and they allow you to customise your meals as long as they are able to. This is by far one of my favourite places to dine.

We booked the Restaurant for Mother’s Day. Arrived to be told the table was not ready and they were running behind. We said we were happy to sit in the bar if it made it quicker so sat down at 6.06 pm in the bar and had drinks and food orders taken 6.26pm despite signalling to give order sooner. Eventually got food at 7.25pm. Food mediocre and no green veg. (Carrots, swede and red cabbage) Food looked like it had sat on the hot plate for a while and gravy was gloopy, meat was good but overall a very disappointing meal!! We decided not to have desert and asked for the bill. The waiter bought the bill and took £6.29 off bill but this experience has not made me want to go back! Shame as the decor and venue seemed very nice. I would suggest perhaps bread and olives be offed to tables where food is so delayed as we were starving when we arrived but thought our main course would arrive soon because we had taken the bar table. The meal delay problem became apparent quickly as there were lots of other tables moaning about their missing food to. We decided it was not worth the gamble on ordering a starter or something to pick at as we could see that delaying things yet further.

Well what can I say about this place other than how absolutely fantastic the staff and food is. My moms 80 th I wanted somewhere a bit private but with lots of variations of food due my extremely fussy family. They accommodated our requests with absolutely no issues...we had gorgeous food with first hand service. Nick and his team assisted to move tables around in the snug so that we could all sit together in this private room and happily allowed us to fill full.of balloons and photographs. Everyone especially my mom enjoyed thoroughly with that extra special service from the marvellous team. I would recommend to anyone wanting to go for food or host a special celebration to get in touch with Nick...you will not be dissapointed. We will be back ! Lovely lunch before brewery tour. Good sized portions, nice selection of ales and friendly staff. Beautiful pub especially the restaurant area.

The food is first rate the skilled chef s makes the dining experience here positively sublime the staff friendly and helpful and will immediately make you feel welcome and the prices very affordable I would heartily recommend you pay a visit

Very nice food, although sausages not to my taste. Service good kept us topped up with tea and coffee. . Would go again, but maybe for lunch next time.

What a real disappointment. We went for Sunday dinner. Four of our party got their meals but I did not. The waitress apologised and went to find out where it was. Everyone started their meals but soon realised that they were cold! Not wanting them reheated in a microwave we cancelled our order. They did reimbursed us the cost of the dinners but the manager never even bothered to come over to our table to explain anything or apologise but left it to the poor young waitress to handle. We will certainly not be going back there again for dinner.

Myself, my wife and 18 month old went here this morning for the Christmas breakfast. Unfortunately it was a disorganised chaotic mess. Nobody seemed to have a clue what was going on. The breakfast was over an hour later than advertised, the breakfast juices were watered down to spread further around everyone and just tasted bad. The little play area they put down for the kids had clearly been knawed at by rodents, so god knows where that had been stored or how clean it was. The coffee and tea that came with breakfast took 45 minutes to get to our table after we ordered them. They were stone cold so we went and paid for a separate coffee from the bar.....which hadn't been poured properly and was full of coffee grounds. We ordered the breakfasts without scrambled eggs and no black pudding, one came with black pudding and a friend egg. Everything was running very late and with a young child that we try to keep a consistent routine with regarding food, it wasn't the best. Not good I'm afraid.

Lovely afternoon meal on a Saturday! We had burgers and a beef stroganoff which were all really nice and decent portions. The beef burgers were large doubles and the chicken burger was huge too! It wasn’t too busy and could tell it was fresh, when we went so our food was out quick and hot. No complaints and friendly staff. Will come again.

Lovely pub in a nice area. However we waited over 1.5 hours for our food. This was down to lack of and inexperienced bar staff. We had a reservation (family of 4) and just before we ordered our food a walk on of 20 people came in. We ordered our food before them but were served our food after them!!??? Note to chef…. Don’t prioritise a large party over a reservation that ordered the food before said large walk in party. And yes whilst the free round of drinks was a nice touch (I didn’t finish mine) doesn’t make up for the fact we waited so long for our food.

We decided to have Sunday dinner here. Considering we were the only family in the whole pub apart from three other people, we were expecting a very nice dinner. We had the roast chicken. It came with a 1/4 of a carrot cut in half, 3 toast potatoes that were burnt on one side and red cabbage. The chicken was soo dry, luckily the waitress asked if everything was ok, she offered to remove my Sunday dinner from the bill. I’d advise not to eat here, the cost of the food for 3 people for roast dinner plus drinks were £75!

Went for Sunday lunch, service was very slow (not a packed lunch time), food portions were small and not hot when served. Had to chase drinks and deserts. Very poor experience and won’t be revisiting. The only positive was that we got money off the bill because of the service. As we were waiting for our food, we could hear others with similar gripes, so wasn’t isolated to only us. Very disappointing experience.

Not the best of experiences - not generous portions, food not hot when served, not the most enticing of menus for vegetarians. Service was polite but slow on an evening when the place was certainly not busy. All in all, disappointing.

Passed by The Mother Huff Cap a few months ago and thought it looked a lovely venue for a family birthday lunch. Dropped in for dinner one evening and after a short chat with the staff decided to hold my 60th Birthday lunch there. A custom menu was agreed from the various available menus and pre-chosen by the 27 guests. On the beautiful (if rather warm) day drinks were enjoyed on the terrace as guest arrived before we moved inside. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, the three courses of food were excellent, perfectly cooked, on time and enjoyed by all. Thoroughly recommend The Mother Huff Cap!

First time for breakfast here , lovely interior a real surprise. Beautiful hot sunny morning and the beer terrace looked very inviting. Our breakfast was first class the ingredients is obviously high quality. Poached eggs cooked to perfection. Friendly staff and a warm welcome we will definitely be back.
