surprise Birthday lunch with family, everyone enjoyed their food, all served together, everyone left full and happy, took our own cake, they provided plates and spoons, nothing was too much trouble for them

Really glad I found the Moorland. So much so I host a veterans breakfast club every month.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Looking forward to the Xmas menus and the refurb

Great food and drink, welcoming staff we love it here. The kids offer is great just £1 a meal when buying aduly meals which we always do, the mega mixed grill is my fav and the mrs has a surf and turf always cooked spot on. Kids love coming here the staff always have a chat with them and theyre really comfortable when we bring them. See you all soon

Great service, food, staff and atmosphere!

First visit in many years. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. It had no flavour and was luke warm. I asked the bar staff to take it away, and when they asked if I wanted a replacement, I asked for some chips, I was given the smallest bowl of chips. My son had a burger, which was supposed to come with BBQ sauce. When I asked for this from the waitress, I was told I needed to go to the bar to pay for it. At the bar, I was not charged, but we had to ask again and explain to the waitress to get. A few people with me had the gammon, they said it was chewy and two of them couldn't finish it due to this. The price for a party of 7 seems good value, but for the quality, it is not worth it. I would not return food.

We ordered the sharing plate at just over £11 to start with. This was pretty much bland and tasteless. Everything was a much of a muchness. The garlic mayo was thin and tasted acidic. I then had sausage mash peas and something that is classed as a southern style gravy. The gravy was poured all over the meal rather than being served in a jug to allow you to put your own on. I ate one sausage and a mouthful of mash before having my meal taken away. The gravy was horrendous and tasted like chicken fat and flour with no seasoning and was thick as wallpaper paste. I was not offered an alternative or replacement and so sat looking on whilst my husband ate his steak which if you like steak was cooked as he asked for although the peppercorn sauce was more cream than peppercorn. Very very disappointed

Been here before as it's local. I don't like leaving negative reviews because I believe people always try to work hard to give you the best experience they can. I dined here yesterday spent about £30 on food and drink, the food came to us in a reasonable time, however there were a lot of flies we kept trying to fend off while we eating. The burger my mum had was dry she said. I had a grill which I really enjoyed, but half an hour after I got in gave me diarrhea. Such a shame, however don't be put off by my review go and try for yourself, I may of just been unlucky and the staff were welcoming.

Fish and chips Fish for two was slime and rubbery after paying for what supposed to have been tea 2 mouth full left everything walked out

Good beer and the offer of 2 meals for £11 is great value, I had the fish and chips, with the upgrade of an extra fish for £2.50 which we shared. the meal was piping hot, but as usual in this type of pub, they use frozen chips, which aren't the best

Brilliant atmosphere. We stud outside in the sun. I didn't eat. But I've ate there before and it's was good. But it was about 7 years ago. But the place was packed out. So the food must be good to have all tables full and eating.

Once again fabulous food. I had the new Gyros and it took me right back to my recent trip to Santorini! Daughter in law had Chicken burger and really enjoyed it. And she topped it off with a fabulous dessert! Chocolate fudge cake and custard. Will definitely return! Thank you

We went here for some food and ordered the hunters chicken with salad. The salad was old and brown in places, and the chicken was dry when it should have been covered in bbq sauce? Looking around seeing every other sauce bar bbq, went to the bar to ask for some and was told I needed to pay for it despite ordering hunters chicken and there being not enough sauce and despite there been all other sauces available for free? This resulted in us not enjoying the meal as it was really dry.

Booked a table for 2 for a meal and drinks, on arrival we were told that we had a table right by a brick pillar in direct line with the door which was open and the draught was awful. I had to ask for the table to be cleaned as it was filthy, there was no menus and everything on the table felt sticky so we walked out never to return. It seems that every time we book a table for 2 we are shoved in a corner, not acceptable.

It was a lovely hot day so after finishing a long day a cold beer outside did the job. Feel they could do more with the outside space they have.

The staff were very helpful and friendly we had a family gathering because my wife passed away on Sunday 17th March so this is the first time that we have all been able to get together as there were 9 of us with granddaughter's and a great granddaughter

My fiance and i called in to celebrate the anniversary of our engagement,the food was delicious and the service was excellent,we've been the Moorland on a number of occasions,I think if you're eating it's better to reserve a table in peak hours as it can get busy,apart from that 5 stars 🌟

We use the moorland for food and drinks in a regular basis as it’s always good value for money if I was to be picky I would just say that the food was just slightly aired considering it want to busy on food orders

I visit the moorland often for food and the occasional drink after work, sometimes with company and sometimes alone. As a woman on her own I always feel very safe and comfortable here and would highly recommend. Great food and excellent value for money and my children also love to visit. The staff are fantastic especially Natalie who always has a smile and time for a natter.

I thought nothing was great…. Staff were very slow and rude when spoken to I had a booking online before attending and had to wait 15 minutes in order to find out what table we were on as staff blatantly ignored us After the fifteen minutes were we eventually told what table number we were on however we weren’t shown where our table actually was so we then spent another 10 minutes trying to find where it actually was When we finally managed to sit down and start to look at the menu we were warned that the restaurant was on a reduced menu this therefore frustrated me as this was not pre warned online when booking my table if I knew this I would never have booked in the first place Lastly a fight started to break out in the restaurant which staff members did nothing to calm or resolve the situation this was the final straw for me and my fiancée and we left very unhappy with the restaurant Wouldn’t recommend to anyone was a very nice restaurant in previous years but is a shadow of its form self

I ordered Hunters chicken. When it arrived I was totally underwhelmed! Chicken, a few chips and a half a plateful of peas....it would gave looked much more presentable with less peas a little side salad.

Just such a welcoming pub staff very friendly and helpful.. I had mixed grill it was cooked to perfection medium rare 😋.. I can not wait to try the new menu coming out next week 😋 🙌

We went for my daughters birthday. Food lovely, waitress pleasant. The only slight drawback was when my husband ordered an espresso. It came served in a small jug ! He asked about this and was told that's how they serve it or he could have had it in a large glass ! The waitress explained they didn't have the right glass. Just a bit of a shame to have your coffee in a jug. Apart from that a lovely meal.

Surprise drinks for my partners 50th & sister in law 60th, reserved area clean plenty of space, silver buffet for 30 people ordered 2 weeks before Food came out on the dot at 4pm, hot fresh tasty and plenty of it. Highly recommend anyone wanting this service to pre book it, it was amazing. Everything came as per the menu stated. Staff were attentive & friendly, well done to all the bar staff, kitchen staff thank you you made it all perfect

Me and my twin went for tea two drinks each he had a mix grill me a old faithful chicken burger and two crumbles after perfect meals and good service too plus the manager looked after us ☺

Went to visit here for my 1st time ,we found that the people at front of house serving at barware quite miserable , like I felt that I was in the way of even trying to order. The food was not really good , tastless and dry . No cutlery at on the table , all the bottles on the table regards to the sauce was empty? Why not just remove and refill ? Got told to get y own sauce from a cutlery department. I'm so glad we didn't spend that much . People work hard all week, work Hard for there money in these conditions of how the economy is at the minute. Like I say my 1st time here , just a normal person wanting to try your establishment. I can understand the 1 star reviews here .

Booked table and it was ready when we arrived .we were a party of 9 but ordered separately but we all got our meals at the same time and it was piping hot .we asked for a high chair and it was ready when we arrived the food was loveley and we all enjoyed our meals .tables were cleared quickly and we ordered desserts .I had the after eight sundae ut was amazing .Best meal out we've had in ages we will be back

We waited 50 minutes for 2 puddings when asked staff they just said oh ill go have a look then they came back and said they are being made now i spoken to the manager who didnt apologise untill i approached her to put in a complaint no discount was offered she said there was nothing she could do and was overall rather rude

Have eaten at the Moorland Inn on several occasions with family and friends. A lovely place with a good atmosphere and great food. Highly recommended :)

I don't normally order Steak at any pub /Restaurant as it's never cooked to my liking, how ever visiting tonight I fancied a Steak I ordered the 8 oz sirloin with the prawns . Asked for rare and have to say it was cooked perfectly. Really enjoyed my meal.

Update 2023 went on a Friday night & think they were a bit short of staff and supplies as it seemed like they left our steaks under the heat lamp a bit long. My dad's was dry and mine was very gristely (they did give me a free drink for the gristly meat by way of apology). Tasted good though thankfully. They also skipped the meringue entirely from our Eton messes. Go somewhere else if you want great food but here if you're not fussy and want something reasonably priced with a nice drink. Sadly only one or two ales on draught. Was a bit noisy with some folks carrying out an impromptu karaoke and there being a football match on but that's to be expected lol Previous time we went in the summer: Food was generally very good, although the dirty fries were actually dirty, the rather past it garnish had a paper label attached! We also ordered two dressed salads which for some reason took a long time to arrive. We'd almost given up hope. When they did arrive they came naked (no dressing) and no apology or explanation was given at the time, let alone warning us earlier they'd run out of dressing. Also our waiter forgot to provide is cutlery to eat the salads with which is pretty unhelpful. Overall would visit again, but would reserve giving a tip next time until they demonstrate that there are competent.

Family of 5 on xmas day, did not get the table we were told we could have. Wifes prawm cocktail starter came on a plate and looked as though it had been thrown on the plate. 5 main turkey meals came 45 minutes later swimming in gravy and burnt black parsnips. The yorshire puddings were hard around the edges Xmas puddings very poor presentation and the chocolate browny was uneatable (rock hard) We were in there 2 hours and 45 minutes, service terrible. The cost with drinks was nearly £300. Will definately NOT be returning

Went for Christmas lunch, everything seemed a little rushed. Veg tasted as though it had been microwaved and I had to remind them of the vegan desert

Starters are the best, like the variety

On arrival, we had no service at the bar for 15 minutes. Then when being served they told us our table number and we had to go find it ourselves. The food was a very long wait and wasn't to satisfactory. I asked for rare steak, it came out well done. We had a side of Mac & Cheese, it was absolutely freezing cold. Gammon was burnt. No one came to ask if our order was ok, so we couldn't correct it. When the waiter came back to us we expressed our concerns with the food. They offered us a complementary drink.
