Love this pub - the food was awesome, the atmosphere was great - a little loud and easy going.

Sorry this pub has closed. It was a very busy local pub so don't understand closure. I always made a point of visiting when in London. On a number of occasions I have stayed in Balham and found it was handy for food etc.

This was a busy pub near the underground. Shame it has now closed. We used it often . The drinks came fast and the food was adequate. We shall miss it.

food and drink was good not great but staff are honest left a coat with over £500 came back to 4 hours later gave us the coat and still had the money and wallet so gave them a tip once again thank you

After a one-stop train ride from Streatham Hill, this branch was in a welcoming position opposite the rail and tube stations. I decided to eat here as time was getting on. So I ordered a pint and Balti, and whilst hardly "cordon bleu" it was fine for sub-£10 in Inner London. People's expectations shouldn't be high in Wetherspoon when it comes to the food. Edible yes, that is sufficient. The staff were cheery too. Perhaps the previous reviewers came in when they were having a bad day. A long walk to Tooting now for my penultimate branch of the day...

Usually pop into a spoons for a quick bite to eat when in a rush, service is always quick and of course the prices are great! Although today was very disappointing...

Certainly is a fair price for drinks and a convivial atmosphere for watching the football.... just that the average IQ leaves a lot to be desired. Take your nearly dead as they will fit right in and have a few laughs

Nos alojamos en Balham para un viaje a Wimbledon y cenamos seguido de desayuno que día siguiente. Tengo que decir que 4 comidas por menos de 30 libras y la calidad de la comida era muy buena. Para la cena tenía la parrilla mixta y mi esposa tenía el sobresaliente. Toda la carne estaba bien preparado y que eran de buena calidad. A la mañana siguiente el desayuno también era de muy buena calidad. Es un pub encantador con buena comida y disfrutamos de nuestras visitas.

This pub does a very reasonably priced breakfast along the same lines of many Wetherspoon pubs. Just across from Balham Underground station and open early enough to class it as breakfast and not a trendy brunch!

Fui a este JD Cucharas no estaba impresionado con algunos miembros del personal del bar. No tenían modales. Le pregunté a un miembro del personal de una pregunta y me pareció mucho para saber lo que le pedí. Y nunca volvió a mí con una respuesta. Otro miembro del personal derramado una bebida y no podía ser molestado a mí que yo estaba parado. No es una buena idea en mi opinión.

Moon bajo el agua está a un minuto de la estación de balham. El pub es el nombre de ficción ideal público George Orwell's House; buen ambiente, buenas cervezas, comida y no música. Hay otros 13 Pubs Wetherspoons llamado Moon bajo el agua; Wigan, Manchester, Boston, Wolverhampton, Cradley Heath, Cheltenham, Milton Keynes, Watford, Enfield, Colindale, Leicester Square, Norbury y Hounslow. El pub es bastante pequeño y estaba ocupado por una calurosa noche de viernes. Tuve la hamburguesa Vegetariana desde el menú viernes hamburguesa con una bebida alcohólica por menos de £7 y disfrutamos de la comida. No paramos otro diner exaltar cómo el picante recubiertos Langostinos eran los mejores. Recomiendo el pub y descargar la App para tomar bebidas que trajeron a la mesa. Es interesante cómo la gente trae tabletas y portátiles para disfrutar del fútbol en vivo, juegos

Visitamos en una noche a mediados de la semana, ya que me encanta para sentarse afuera con un vaso de algo o de otros junto con un cigarrillo. Cómo me decepcionó que el jardín de la cerveza está en obras, así que, siendo una mujer sola en un pub lleno de gente, había un medio rápido y a la izquierda. Volver a la mañana siguiente, un poco trepidatious y pedí un desayuno caliente. ¡GUAU! No teníamos que habernos preocupado ya que el gerente del bar encantadora señorita me hizo sentir muy bienvenido y la comida era estupenda. Volveré antes de lo que yo puedo decir Balham!

Ok location and average decor. Food was not the best (very poor quality burger, not usual jd standard) Drink ok and staff friendly enough (it is london after all). Only use if there’s nowt else u fancy.

No more expensive than pubs away from London. Friendly attentive staff. We had coffee in the morning a couple of drinks later on and breakfast the following morning.

Had breakfast here. Awful porridge and the eggs royale arrived cold. Definitely a waste of money. The place could do with a refurb. Wouldn't go back.

Visited The Moon Under Water for breakfast what great value for money, £1.90 for bottomless coffee , nice toast with small jar of jam and the American pancakes were to die for so cheap and will definitely be returning here .

Just step in for a beer. As normal of Weatherspoons there was a good choice. Very busy Friday evening but service was quick and friendly.The beer was nicely served and enjoyed. The toilets were a little disappointing as the floor was very wet.

He vivido en Balham durante 30 años antes de trasladarse al norte, pero fue pasando así parado para almorzar mientras rebobinar durante unas horas.

Estuve en el pub un par de otra vez durante nuestra bi-visitas mensuales para ver la familia Balham para un par de días. Mucho igual que antes, con un personal agradable y servicial, pero pero lejos de los mejores Wetherspoons pub en el REINO UNIDO. No está mal para una bebida funcional.

No comimos en el pub, pero tenía bebidas, y qué buen ambiente. El personal era tan eficiente, agradable, etc. , mesas estaban limpias. Definitivamente volveré de nuevo

Incluso el encanto de bebidas los precios no traer weatherpoons conmigo aquí. Todo el lugar está sucio y se caían a pedazos, había arena del constructor todo el suelo por algún motivo y tenía algunos huéspedes bastante peligroso. Incluso en el verano parece oscuro y lúgubre, y no hay mucho espacio.

Typical wetherspoon pub, full of local drinkers. Bit pushed for table/seating space, also fronts doors fully open so all the Smokers smoke just re-enters the pub due to smoking taking place directly outside. Probably would not eat in this wetherspoon though normally do in others visited.

Este es un pub Weatherpoons con todas las cosas buenas y malas que ello implica. Desayuno barato con enemigos que café ilimitado y wifi gratuito. Sirve almuerzos y cenas y tiene una razonable variedad de cervezas.

So, I called into Wetherspoon's on Monday 28th November for an evening meal with a friend and went to order food, every time I visit the Balham pub and order the mixed grill it is always out of stock, I settled for a Lamb Shank in the end, but my question is why is there an abundance of other foods readily available on the menu, yet a mixed grill isn't, does the chef not like cooking a mixed grill ?

Good value but that's about it. Everything tasted foul, the eggs were hard, sausages disgusting and it came with chips although i asked for hash browns instead, it had to be chips. Honestly the most disgusting "fry up" I've ever had.On the plus side the coffee was decent.

Stella was 3.65 a pint. Excellent value and a fine pint too. Popular place on the high street. Quite clean and tidy.

Staying in Balsam overnight for work and needed something to eat and a beer. Usual fair to good service from a Weatherspoons, good pint and good quantity of food. However sat watching the bar staff, I wish I was one of the customers who gets the free drinks...... I bet Mr Martin will be happy with that!

We had the special offer on a Friday of Fish and Chips with a drink. Amazing value and excellent meal. Friendly staff.

This is a great pub in Balham. Not trying to be anything it isn't, just a great place to have a pint surrounded by genuine locals with good banter and a warm welcome. Serves good pub food. Nice staff.

I visit this pub on frequent occasions when staying with family nearby. Much the same as my last visits and overall too small but with the usual effective bar staff. As this one was listed for sale by Weatherspoons last year does noboby else want it either or is a change of ownership imminent?

This is a friendly place with cheap food and drink. It has a local character as lots of locals use it and good and reliable place to go.

Once you get inside it's just pretty much the same as any other Wetherspoons pub. A wide range of very cheap beers and real ales - all around £1-2 cheaper than anywhere else near by.

We went to this place and we were disappointed. Firstly no burritos, which was disappointing. Then lack of choice in soups. I actually asked the guy behind the bar what do you have? This was like something from a comedy show, the guy showed complete lack of customer service. But this is an old man's pub just like it was few years back.

We popped in for a quick beer before Sunday roast, and 'enjoyed' probably the worst pint of Tuborg that ever existed! It's quite a nice Wetherspoons, but I don't think my tastebuds would forgive me if I went back.

Not the best Weatherspoons but far from the worst. Very pleasant staff and convenient for the High Street & shops etc. 100 yards from the Travelodge and handy for breakfast and meals.

One time I went here and it smelt like cat food. All the men knew each other at 10am, but only said hello and then sat at their separate tables and refused to speak while they silently drank their lives away. Where dreams go to die.

I visited the moon under water this morning for breakfast. I was made to feel super welcome by the two girls behind the bar. As a women on her own in a pub I felt very comfortable.The two girls, Michol and Shiv were chatty and charismatic and took my order promptly.Service like this is very rare to me these days and I think deserves credit in a society where we can mainly focus on the negative.The food was pretty decent and ridiculously good value. Would definitely visit again if I were in the area.

Pub was very dirty three staff a manager included stood around doing nothing apart from pick their noses at the bar whilst we had to sit at a dirty table with sauce bottles strewn all over the pub. Witnessed a customer get served a very burnt chicken no check back was given to that customer. There were customers smoking vapour pipes inside the bar which is against weather spoon policy yet they were not asked to stop or leave. The toilets are definitely the dirtiest foulest smelling toilets of any weatherspoons I have ever seen or smelt which considering it is not a busy pub such as prince of Wales in Cardiff or the fantastic tumble Inn in Pontypridd there is no excuse. If the tumble Inn and many other spoons pubs can be smart clean and customer focused why not this one I tell you why it's because the staff just didn't care at all and we're so lazy they should join the job club !!

we had breakfast here every morning it was very good value for money also tasted great too. a small breakfast(2 bacon 1 sausages 1egg 2 hash browns 2 slices toast beans and tomato )for under £3.00

Just returned from a couple of days in London. We stayed in the Travelodge and ate lunch and breakfast in the Moon under Water. The pub is quite tired and badly needs a refurb but that said tne service from the bar staff was exceptional and the food was very good. We had the curry deal on Thursday and breakfast Friday morning. Both meals were serviced promptly and were well cooked. Thoroughly recommend this place but come on Wetherspoon - this place needs some money spent on it.

The place is horrendous, the carpet was filthy the beer is watered down and the toilets are gross.... The interior was pretty dated..... on the whole an awful experience.

Eagerly awaiting a fry up at the Moon Under Water, I was extremely disappointed when it came out with cold baked beans. When I told a member of staff I prefer my beans warm, he put it in the food lift and I then had to wait over 10 minutes (by which time my friends were finished eating). When I asked when my food would return, the waiter exclaimed that he had forgotten and opened the food lift to reveal my food which has obviously been sitting waiting there for quite some time. Needless to say it was not only cold again but had been microwaved until plastic-y..... bad service and food, no apology or compensation! Won't be returning.

In a post war shop unit that has been made to look Victorian. Very pleasant frontage full of flowers - a bit of an oasis in dusty urban Balham High Rd. Standard but very good value Spoons food, served on a warm lunchtime efficiently and quickly. There is a rear yard with doors opening onto it which presumably JDW do not own, or it could be tidied up and made pleasant.
