No recomendaría viniendo aquí me temo.

This place truly is awful! The service, the decor, the food.My wife and I had a groupon voucher for surf and turf, the steak was advertised as fillet and was like minute steak which half was fat!!! The half a lobster was over cooked also. When we complained we were ignored, to which I asked the other girl who was Spanish refused to give us her name, also the the name of the owner, point blankly explained it wasn't her fault!!! No sauces, no draft larger and no finger bowls!! Terrible experience! DO NOT EAT HERE!! Couldn't even give me a VAT Receipt without an argument!!! Absolutely dreadful hence why it's empty! Should of read trip advisor first which we do usually!!! We also noticed lots of food on the floor to the table next to us, which the waitress said she had no time to clean this, even though there were two waitresses on and only 5 people including ourselves in the restaurant.

We booked the upstairs room late last year for a family event in the spring and paid a deposit. We received emails concerning the menu several weeks before the event which we then decided upon. A few days before the event we were sent an email stating that the bill had to be settled by bank transfer prior to the event. No mention had been made of this up until this point. Therefore we phoned the restaurant to query the matter and the owner/ manager was extremely rude. In the end we had to pay cash in order for the event to go ahead. The actual event went okay mainly because of the setting which people enjoyed but we felt uncomfortable, not sure how the owner/ manager was going to behave. The food was average, most of which came from outside suppliers. Drinks were expensive and either they had gone up in price or it was a different menu from the one we were shown in December. Quite frankly if there had been time to find another venue we would not have gone ahead with the booking.

The starter section of the menu is full of seafood – oysters, lobster bisque, clam chowder and smoked eel amongst others. I ordered the Cornish Crab Cake (£7.50), which was very nice and full of crab meat but maybe a little small for the price. I was pleased to see that Antonia’s Grilled Squid (£9.50) came whole, including tenticles rather than in boring rings but it was a tad overcooked and again, a bit steeply priced. On to the main course we both had to have a whole lobster – we rarely have it and usually share one if we do so decided this was the night to go big. I’d had a look at the menu online and seen that they offer New England Live Lobsters – steamed or grilled, served with skinny fries & dressed salad in three sizes;1.25lb for £20.001.50lb for £25.002.00lb for £30.00On the night the 1.25lb option was the only one on the menu. I was a bit disappointed as I was planning on taking on the 2lb beast but in retrospect, 1.25lb was plenty! The lobster comes cracked (as you’d expect) and with a small plate of tools, including a super cool lobster bib. None of the other diners got in to the spirit of things but we proudly donned our bibs and got ready for battle....Full review on Scoff London:http://scofflondon.com/restaurants/the-lobster-house-review-sw18/

We used to be regular diners at The Lobster House as it's usually quiet but our recent visit during the week was very disappointing. The spaghetti was terrible. It tastes like the cheapest spaghetti you can get from supermarket. We had lobster spaghetti and the lobster was lukewarm when it arrived. The staff said to us that they just had new chef in from January and would appreciate any feedback--it's a terrible meal, not worth the value. On top of that, the heating was not on in the restaurant. We don't think we will go back there again, it's a shame.

Went to the lobster house using a groupon, whole lobster for 2 + lobster bisque for starter. Groupon voucher stated that bread & olives were extra £2 & we expected to pay extra for drinks. Whole Lobster shells arrived (I say shells, as the meat was removed from the body - they were empty). As experienced lobster eaters this is taking the p**s. When the bill arrived there was £4 added for starter instead of £2 maria tried to tell us that groupon got it wrong & that her service charge of £5 was fixed. Nice try maria . Even the tactic of raising your voice to try to embarass me into paying "your" hidden extras with your "bull*hit statements" did not work. If you want to rob someone you should wait outside the post office on benefits day . Quality of food is nothing short of shi* on a plate. They will add extra money without telling you & when you highlight it they will tell you that groupon is wrong & their charges are correct. The food is as good as the bull*hit they feed you. The heating was not on & there was a power cut over half the restaurant. Maria is trained in the art of "I am going to try to steal your money without you knowing, what I say goes & groupon are liars if you disagree I will raise my voice so that I will try to scare you into paying" such a loser. You really should have gone to the same school as the rest of us & not the hollow bulls*it lobster school of theives & liars. No wonder your front door window is broken. Probably another disgruntled customer . If I want to treat someone who I really hate I will return & they can pay. Otherwise sianara suckers‼️Eat your own shi.

Lovely place, super location, great staff! Shame about the price and the food. The lobster wasn't very hot, or very big, and it was a bit tough. Fairly tasteless compared to whenever I have had lobster before. Such a shame. I think they likely need a better chef! It was a Sunday evening, and there were only 2 other couples besides us, therefore no atmosphere.

A friend purchased a wowcher coupon for myself and my hubby as a Valentine's gift. As Valentines Day was fully booked by the time I made initial contact with the restaurant I booked for Saturday 21st Feb. After making the booking I started to read the reviews that previous diners had posted. My heart sank and I wondered if we were going to make a wasted journey. I called the restaurant a few days before dining and spoke to a waitress- I asked her if the owner/manager was aware of all the negative comments online and were any of them true - I.e. That the coupon diners were served smaller lobsters which tended to be rubber like in texture. I was assured this wasn't the case-all diners were treated the same and that she wasn't sure why there were so many negative things written about them. The restaurant is nice - it was half full when we arrived. The staff were polite and courteous. The food- I admit I'm not keen on the lobster bisque -my hubby ordered grilled prawns as his starter. These were good! The main course was fantastic! I ate a whole lobster with seasonal salad - and hubby ordered ' surf and turf' - half a lobster with steak and French fries. He said it was the best lobster he had tasted! We had no room for desserts. We had a great dining experience and plan to visit again soon. We were charged £2 per person and the side dishes aren't included in the voucher price. Due to the fact that we ordered prawns as our starter and hubby ordered a different main course together with a coffee and a glass of coke we had to pay an additional £38. Personally I think it was worth it

Upon entry to the restaurant the waitress explained that we had to pay an additional £2pp and that Groupon had incorrectly outlined the T&Cs. (At time of writing Groupon is still selling the voucher with the so called "incorrect" T&Cs. So limited effort has been made by the The Lobster House of asking them to change it or stop selling the vouchers.)So after 5 mins arguing with the waitress that they were not honouring the Groupon Voucher we were given the ultimatum to pay the extra or leave. Partly due to the principal and also feeling we were been scammed we decided to leave. We will now have to approach Groupon for a refund on the basis that the restaurant refused to accept it. Today following reading the comments below I am pleased we walked away.

Went here on groupon deal and was not impressed. My partner had the sea bream and really liked it but the lobster was so dry I felt like I was eating chicken breast meat! Considering it's supposed to specialise in lobster it is quite embarrassing. Even the bread they served was burnt! Hardly no people in the restaurant so atmosphere wasn't great, especially for a Saturday night. Rather go to Burger and Lobster for cheaper Lobster and better quality.

Went there on a groupon deal would never return. The location is great the decor is ok abit of a deep clean needed though. I called before i arrived to book and I was told that they may close early because there are no customers I tried to discuss the optional charge for the bread and olives etc and was told that groupon has got it wrong and it's not optional after trying to debate I was already put off. Upon arriving my partner and I could smell a terribly fishy smell just before entering (alarm bells). We were shown to our table by a waitress whose clothes were dirty she took our starter order lobster bisque and grilled prawns both were substandard and the lobster bisque which should have been included in the deal was charged separately. We waited a little while for the main, don't know why the place was empty we were the only customers when it did arrive I was quite disappointed not much lobster meat chips were nice but I can eat chips any day, no seasoning dipping sauce for the lobster, my partner asked for some and was given so called garlic butter which tasted really bad and had curdled "disgusting". We were charged £2 pp optional cover and12.5% big rip off for poor quality would not recommend to anyone. However I would recommend lobster and burger Dean street soho fantastic food and prices.

I came here recently on a Groupon voucher looking forward to a delicious lobster meal next to the River Thames (not the best view I know, but it was alright when we went at night). I was expecting the place to be packed so it was the first drawback when we turned up to an empty restaurant apart from the one foreign waitress and chef. She immediately knew who we were which told me that they probably weren't expecting many more customers that night. The whole harbour indeed itself was rather silent, and the large restaurant Marco Polo located opposite the Lobster House was also empty. Looking at other reviews, it seems that the Lobster House never had a fine knack for customers. The place was lovely, a very contemporary style apart from the fact that the heaters weren't working so it was horridly freezing and the staff quarters were plain to view. When we asked the waitress if we could possibly sit upstairs where there would be a better view she refused as the upper floor was for 'events' when obviously nobody was going to turn up expecting a full-on party when the whole room echoed stillness. Our table on the ground floor was very nice however-we ordered two Cokes and two alcoholics which were served very quickly and in good quantities. Good so far.We then ordered from the menu-I'd call it that, but really it was just a sheet of laminated paper unedited that sounded more like a menu you'd get at a shoddy Chinese takeaway with all the spelling mistakes and display errors. For pastas and spaghetti they were very elaborate in what they had, referring it as 'any type, any style' for £6.50. I would have loved to have tried it just to see what it would have been like but keeping strict to our Groupon lengths we got four grilled lobsters, four lobster bisque soups and also a salt and pepper squid that I personally requested as it was one of my all-time favourites. As a condiment they gave us warm bread, butter and de-seeded olives which were at first a treat but as you will find out turned out be just another way to bring in money.Bisque came after about twenty minutes, wasn't particularly hot but more or less lukewarm, the bread they said was coming with the soup just wasn't there and when we asked for it (as it had been on the voucher) the waitress said that the bread we had just had was that very bread. The soup itself was very nice, filled to an adequate amount and swirled around with butter. It would have been nice for something to bite on during the soup but it was still a very nice dish. During this time the salt and pepper squid also turned up, which was ultimately very nice-very little oil but still crispy and that golden colour, not overcooked, and was served in a quite large portion for one with a sweet and spicy dip and a small salad which we all shared. If anything that was probably the best dish out of the lot. After removing our starters we waited for another twenty-thirty minutes before our lobsters came. At a distance, they looked like a lot and I was wondering if I would even finish mine with such a colossal amount of lobster meat to eat-turns out there was hardly any, and the meat that was there was cold, some parts not even cooked right, and it was incredibly hard to remove, which means that the shellfish is not fresh and 'live', as they claimed, although judging by the appalling standards it was probably from a deep freezer and had been caught eons ago. Mine was mainly alright but very bitter in parts, whereas my brothers was so cold it looked hardly cooked at all. My mother and fathers' lobsters were of a similar standard. It was very disappointing for my mother, who loves seafood, particularly shellfish and oysters, which we had freshly caught in Vigo once and were amazingly fresh (not that I enjoy raw oysters, but I tried one all the same). My brother sent his lobster back and after the chef reheated it and cooked it properly it was alright, although the amount of meat was still lacking. Oh yes- and there was no flavouring or seasoning, or even dips. When we asked for ketchup and mayonnaise only after about ten minutes, with only two tables in the room, did she come back with just ketchup. We didn't bother asking again for the mayonnaise but reading previous complaints on Trip Advisor this isn't the first time service forgot to bring a small dollop of a condiment onto the table. The lobster came with a tin of chips, which were thinly cut and very nice indeed, and a salad like the one from the salt and pepper squid we had had for starters. Overall a very saddening dish. After the waitress removed our dishes and we sat talking we noticed the only customers that dined at our time come in, probably like us scavenging around the more isolated regions of London after a day out in the city and looking for someone to eat, another group of four. They ordered the same lobster dishes as us for mains and received them almost just after ours were served, even though we had got there probably an hour before them and they had starters too. You could immediately see the contrast between theirs, regular customers, and us, the Groupon visitors. Where our lobsters were miniature, frozen and a bit off their lobsters were beautifully cooked, practically brimming with fresh lobster meat, not frozen, and using a fork the meat just fell away like a flaky salmon, showing freshness. We were horrified but the fact that because we were Groupon visitors we had gotten such a lowly deal. Having lost our appetite, none of us ordered desserts, even though originally I had been contemplating on getting something from the miniature list.It got even worse when it came to the bill-a whopping £96! From a voucher! For lobsters mainly uncooked and frozen, some soup and squid, four drinks?! It couldn't be. But looking at the bill the waitress had written, we then noticed that she had added on £2 pp for the 'delicious bread' and olives we had had, which were originally meant to have sided the soup. Also there was a hefty 12.5% service charge AND a supposedly 'optional' cover charge of £2 pp which the waitress had just blatantly added without asking. When we complained to her about the poor dishes she only shrugged and said 'there's nothing I can do'. Her most helpful line was getting us through to the apparently missing boss through an email so we could complain. What a horrible, horrible meal. Whereas the regular customers were having the time of their lives! probably for a better deal too! Please, if you want to eat lobster, go down to the Docklands or a good nearby local fishmonger who sells real fresh fish. You can make your own lobster, with flavouring, meat and good quantities, at home on any day. Just don't go here-especially if you're from Groupon.

Please take the time to read the below before you make the same mistake I did. It will save you a disappointing experience and keep your money in your pocket to be spent elsewhere.Went with family of 4 to the Lobster House because we are all seafood addicts and reguarly consume all kinds of shellfish and fish, so eagerly arrived at this well situated restaurant on the banks of the Thames after purchasing a Groupon voucher online. Having had a browse of other people's experiences, I had mixed feelings before setting out but decided to give it a chance, afterall, the name Lobster House should suggest at least they would get Lobsters correct.Arrived, the restaurant had an ominous vibe as it was completely empty, we were the only table inside. The decor of the place was rather refreshing, and had a nice bistro feel, however, the very fact I didn't even need to state my name and just saying I had a booking was enough for the single waitress to know who I was. Clearly they don't get many bookings. We sat near the windows, though there was a slight chill from the freezing cold outside, so the windows/doors were not as insulated as we would have preferred. Handed the menu, we were a little taken aback by the fact that the restaurant didn't even have a proper menu but rather a laminated piece of paper that had numerous typos and grammatical inaccuracies, a straight away alarm that the establishment who claims to serve American/Bistro (Western) cuisine, is not of English speaking origins. We all ordered the Lobster Bisque as it was included in our offer and also requested Grilled Lobster as well as an additional Salt and Pepper Squid with our drinks. Firstly, our bread, olives and butter came, warmed and enjoyable (however it was never mentioned that they have a cover charge of £2pp, for 8 slices of baguette and some tinned olives). Next, the starter. The Lobster Bisque arrived and it seems that the quantity (for something that is priced at £6 each), is minimal at best. The bisque only filled just about halfway in the bowl that was provided and even though was advertised as 'with fresh bread', there was none provided and when asked, the waitress mentioned that it was what was provided earlier that we had eaten (then why charge us the cover charge if you say the bread is included already in the bisque!!!). The bisque itself was quite flavoursome, albeit a little bit on the salty side, although a bit too much on the tomato side in terms of colour. Also, I like my Lobster Bisque to have some bits of Lobster inside which this variant served clearly didn't. Disappointing to say the least on that front. However, upto now, we had no major grievances. Finally, a group of 4 entered, and it seems they weren't Groupon visitors. They also happened to be the only other table filled whilst we dined in.Next, was the Main. Even though the place was completely devoid of customers, the Whole Lobster with Fries took almost 30 minutes to arrive after we had finished our starter. When it came, visually, it looked quite wholesome, but as soon as we delved in, this is where the entire meal went downhill faster than Enron. Firstly, none of the Lobsters we had was hot, mine in particular wasn't even warm, it was dead cold, clearly a sign that it came out of the freezer and was not correctly defrosted. Remember, this place advertises its lobsters as 'live'. A clear lie. I went to the waitress who said she'll heat it up for me, however, whilst waiting for mine to heat up, I could see clearly my families lobsters were also not fresh let alone live cooked. The meat was stuck on the shell, showing that it is NOT fresh at all, and my sister's one was bitter, probably due to it being left out too long. All the lobsters were shrivelled up, there was barely any meat on any of them, and the meat required a ton of effort to get off the shell because they were stuck on and just broke up into pieces. As anyone who knows a thing or two about seafood, whether it be prawns or lobsters, the meat should easily come off the shell and be juicy to demonstrate it is fresh and succulent. This was anything but. When my lobster came back, I had pretty much lost my appetite and felt utterly disappointed, hungry and embarrassed to have taken my family out to an establishment such as this. When I informed the waitress of the shocking food, all she did was shrug in a 'what can I do' kind of way. Meanwhile, the nearby table of guests who hadn't used a Groupon voucher, was being served their lobsters and you could tell straight away that their lobsters did not come from the same storage facilities. Theirs looked fresh, and the way it should be served. Ours were probably cooked from god knows when. Aside from this, the seasoning on the lobster was non-existent and the meagre salad side had no dressing provided at all. When the bill came, it was a bit more of a slap in the face as we realized the whole meal cost a total of £96, without any wine and just two soft drinks and two small beers. Also is the mentioned above 'cover charge' which was stated as 'Optional' on our voucher yet they refused to take off, and charged us per person rather than the optional £2 per table stated on our voucher. In addition to this, they had the nerve to also charge 12.5% service charge for abysmal service and food. This is one place you HAVE to AVOID in an area that had so much promise. One of the WORST restaurants I have ever eaten anywhere, and I travel a LOT. Save your money, go down to Docklands and buy yourself a Live Lobster, for the price it costs for 1 here, you could bag yourself 2 or maybe 3 for the size they offer you. Cook it fresh yourself.

We came here on New Years Day for lunch on a Groupon voucher and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location is great and would be wonderful in the summer with the outside terrace. The service was good, friendly and efficient and the food was fine.I'd like to say it was great but one lobster was better than the other and the bisque was tasty.Still, for the price and location to have a starter and a couple of whole lobsters it was well worth it.

Where to start? The location of this restaurant has potential with a lovely outside jetty with seating in the summer. But, I have been 3 times, all visits very disappointing. Flat Prosecco, tasteless prawns and horrible Lobster pasta that tasted like it had tomato ketchup and sugar as the main ingredient of the sauce. This place needs to pull its socks up, otherwise it won't be here much longer.

Not normally the sort of person to complain and I must open by highlighting the location and the service. The girls looking after us were wonderful, we were a table of 12 for a birthday and they looked after us well. As with so many of the other reviews though, the food is the big one. Obviously high rent for the location so cost cutting elsewhere, but the prices are extortionate for what it is. I had the Lobster Bisque, a friend had the Chowder and someone else had the scallops. The scallops were tiny, frozen, and so over cooked they made a noise as they rolled round the plate; the bisque was genuinely just tomato soup and I don't think even they would dispute that, and the chowder was vegetable broth. The steaks were thin, the chips were damp, the lobster was rubbery.... Our bill came to well over £500 and we had to make a bit of a joke of the whole thing to our guests who had come from elsewhere. When two of us went to speak to the staff, we were (I hope) most courteous, and as mentioned, there was a resigned smile from the head waitress who presumably had heard it all before: Genuinely lovely location, genuinely lovely staff, but the food is dreadful, and then as a little backhander, it's absolutely extortionate as well. Stop doing Groupon deals!!!! If you put your prices unbelievably high so that a "2-4-1" deal looks attractive, you won't attract regular customers!!!! Focus on the food, let the chef cook properly because no seafood chef will be doing that out of choice, and you could have a really great little place.

Been here a few times now, normally early week , it has never been to busy but in the Summer I could imagine it being packed.Keep going there on the Groupon deal (sad me) but I intend to return to try some other Menu items, a nice restaurant, lacking a little in atmosphere but everyone I have taken has been happy (maybe the Company LOL)Yes it could be a little better, but overall it represents good value for money, it is in a fantastic location on the Thames, parking at night is quite easy in the streets nearby, I would not listen to the other moaners on Trip, get on down there and give it a try

We came on a Groupon deal. When we arrived the place looked dull. It was clean, but just boring. Considering the location, they could do so much more with the venue. The menu was a laminated piece of paper with drinks, desserts and mains all on one sheet... Bit of cheap feel to me.We were told after we ordered that they had run out of things... Bit annoying.. The oysters were served with a very poor excuse for a dressing and badly opened as there were bits of broken shell inside, but at least they were fresh. The starters were bland. We ordered the chowder and we had to add seasoning as I don't think they even added salt. The chowder was disappointing, it felt like it came out of a tin. Very thick, tasteless and hardly any fish in it.Now we ordered lobster... It looked nice when it arrived, but then it stops. The lobster looked overcooked and it was ! When I cracked it open, I hardly found meat in there, it had shrunk to less than half the size of what it was before cooking. The meat was dry, tasteless and tasted bitter. Considering this is called Lobster house, you would expect them to know how to cook a lobster.Desserts were decent enough, but they gave us a teaspoon with it, not great to eat cake with.Service was alright, but I was very reluctant to pay the 12% service charge. This place has seriously killed off my love for seafood for a while... Very disappointed.Avoid !

Clearly the Lobster House didn't get the concept of attracting customer through vouchers. My partner took me there on Friday evening with a Groupon Voucher for half-a-lobster and fries. We were brought one small poor-looking, badly cut lobster on a bare plate with a small side portion of undercooked frozen fries. We had to ask twice for mayonnaise. Nothing else on the plate. I had to send mine back to the kitchen, it was smelly and off. In the time it took them to bring a new one, my partner ate the tail but left the rest (strange taste BUT he just would never send anything back to any kitchen) and next door's table was brought the restaurant full-price version of our dish. The difference was shocking: size/colour of lobster & fries, plenty of salad, several dressing options... I understand that you can't expect to have exactly the same with a voucher but this was insulting - and the voucher not cheap!! The staff was serving us in a haste. When booking, my partner asked to be sited upstairs, this was refused to us when we arrived but other people were taken upstairs. My partner's desert was adequate (chocolate fondant) but mine was bland (raspberry cheesecake). Very bad move from the Lobster House, clearly they have to rethink their marketing strategy: we live locally and we've been meaning to try it for a while, we would have gone back without any voucher if the experience had been good. Sadly it was very disappointing.

We had the pleasure of visiting this resturant on Saturdy as a treat from our daughter it was an amazon voucher deal.I actually think thats the only way they can get customers with this voucher deal because you wouldn't go out of your way to go to this resturant.Beautiful location and decor bright must be nice in the summer.Expensive cover charge for small basket of stale bread, fries nice ,lobster !! Dont bother ,what can i say ,bad !! We tried to change our booking time for a later one due to the distance we had to travel but was told that there was not one .when we arrived the resturant had only one other couple in resturant When we left one hour or so later a few more people arrived.Food arrived quickly but due to fact that we had voucher we felt that the staff couldn't be bothered with us.Wont be seeing us again !

My wife bought one of those Amazon Local Vouchers for this restaurant. Most of the meal was ok but the most important bit, the lobster was not. It was very over cooked and quite rubbery. Not good enough, especially if you are a restaurant specializing in Lobster.... Other annoying things were :- On arrival we asked for some water. They never came. Eventually we had to ask the manager/owner to bring them. - The meal came out WAY too quickly. I hadn't had half my beer when the meal came. I am always suspicious when meals arrive so quickly. I reckon it was about 7 or 8 minutes after ordering. Highly annoying.- The bread basket arrived at the same time as the meal.- The butter came in little foil packages. Just seemed a bit odd. I can't remember the last time a restaurant served me butter this way. - my wife had to have her steak medium to well done. It came out rare (which is better than it being completely chard) so we asked to have it cooked some more. When the meal came back the lobster and chips were cold.... Normally a restaurant would add some hot chips to the plate. The one highlight was the wine served with the meal... It was very good. I just felt the place was being badly run and will never, ever return. I actually can't see how a restaurant like this will survive... To many things wrong for it to last...

Not having read any reviews nor checked out the exact location (took over an hour to get there), I had bought one of the Amazon vouchers. The decor is light and modern if a little lacking in character but with a fine view of the riverfront. On a fine Saturday afternoon, this kind of venue should have been quite lively but we were the only 2 in the restaurant once the diners outside had finished their meals. The steak and lobster in the deal were fine, served with excellent fries, but the salad was limp and un-dressed. Melted butter was brought in a little pot for the lobster but no sauces or dressing were offered for the steak or salad; however, these were brought quickly when requested. Lobster crackers, picks and plastic bibs were provided but after the meal was cleared away, we had to request finger wipes which clearly are essential after eating lobster. The voucher price paid for the meal deal with a glass of wine was probably just about what it was worth and I would certainly have felt short-changed if I had paid the standard menu price. The staff were nice and friendly but not professional waiters. Can't see how they will get regular trade - rather just one-off visits by passing tourists or voucher trade. I certainly won't return - not even with another voucher deal.

I don't typically write reviews but felt compelled to as the food here was so bad; I don't want others to be drawn in by one the vouchers they are selling on-line. We purchased one of their vouchers from Amazon Local, as it seemed like the deal was too good to be true; Steak and Lobster with wine for two for only £32. We had pretty modest expectations going in do to the price, but were not prepared for how bad the food here really was. We ordered some bread to start and were served a basket that consisted of 2 small slices of stale wheat bread and 3 end pieces of a baguette, not exactly a good way to start. The Steak, if that what I can call it, was absolutely indescribably horrible. Both my wife and only only managed to eat one bite it was so bad. The lobster was over cooked and edible if smothered in the butter they provided. The salad was served on the side consisted of old wilted lettuce and nothing else. We weren't even offered any dressing or oil for it. The best part of the meal was the little basket of french fries served with it. In addition to the voucher they also have a cover charge!! Never heard of that in a restaurant before. This isn't a club. In the end we left feeling hungry and sick that it even that cost us upwards of £40.It is really too bad, because the potential of this place, right on the Thames is huge. Do not be drawn in by one of the on-line vouchers as you will be very disappointed in the quality of this place.

Very pleasantly surpirsed given some of the negative reviews. I bought a deal voucher for this place and booked for a Friday. It's a nice airy, bright venue that overlooks the river. The staff were friendly and efficient. The meal could've been hotter but the steak and lobster deal was delicious. The fries were good and salad had a decent dressing. Wine was pretty good.I will say that given the normal prices +£20 for a main. It could've done with a little extra touch. They need to get rid of the plastic-like table covers and the plastic single flower on the tables. It is definitely worth a visit as it has a nice view, the food is good and overall the experience particularly for couples is very good! Makes sure you book atleast 2weeks in advance.

Both me and my (future) mother in law were very pleasantly surprised at how delicious the white wine was that came with the deal.Service was brisk but not rudely so and the restaurant itself is very sweet - a lovely saturday lunchtime treat all in all! After reading the customer reviews on trip advisor I was apprehensive to say the least, however voucher in hand I went with an open mind and am glad I did. I bought a voucher on living social for £25 which got you half a lobster, fries and salad and a glass of wine for two people. My expectations were not high after reading the reviews, however both the food and service were very good. Our waitress was very attentive and was very good with my dietary requirements making sure nothing contained anything I was allergic to. The restaurant was fairly quiet, however it is a bit off the beaten track however worth the walk as it is a lovely spot by the river. The others diners also seemed to be enjoying the food and ambience. It was my first time trying lobster and I have to say I was not disappointed. Wine was also very nice and I really think this place deserves a chance. Only suggestions would be turn the lights down a little and invest in some tea lights, a little more music and include the cover charge in the menu prices. All in all, a nice little place. Would go back.

I had read other reviews before our visit yesterday, so I went with mixed expectations. We had an amazon voucher deal, so I knew the portions would be huge. We had a very nice bread selection to start (which we paid extra for). Main course was half a lobster, side salad, steak and fries. Yes the steak was on the small side, but very tasty. Lobster was good, fries were yummy. So, can't fault the food, and the wine that came with our deal was enjoyable. The waiting staff were pleasant and helpful, and didn't try and pressure us into having extra items. When I rang to book, I was told there would be an additional cover charge, which was fine as we were warned in advance. They also whack on 12.5% service which is a standard for London (I'd personally rather leave a cash tip, but there you go). Bottom line is, if you come here on a voucher deal you are not going to get a steak the size of your head. Have reasonable expectations! The location is fantastic, right on the river. If I was paying full price, I would say the place doesn't have the wow factor and needs to work on finding that special sparkle. The location is a 10-15 minute walk from Putney Bridge so there needs to be something to tempt new customers to make the effort to go slightly off the beaten track. Highly recommend a drink at the nearby Cat's Back pub, either before or after your meal.

A group of us booked a deal for this through Amazon Local. We were very specific to check the T&C's in regards to how many could sit at a table as there were 10 of us. On trying to book a table I spoke to a member of staff, manager and the owner. The manager and owner were extremley rude. I was told that the deal was not to give us "a cheap party". I tried to explain we all work locally and we wanted to try out the restaurant, and that if we liked it we would return however the manager would not listen. He insisted that we would be sat 2 at a table and they would not put the tables near each other. I asked whether this would be the case even if the restaurant was empty to which I was told that the restaurant was fully booked, even though I hadn't given them a date (we were looking at mid week at about 5.30pm so not at a busy time) The manager stated that he could put us on the same table if we spent an additional £10 per head. I also explained to the manager that no where in the terms and conditions did it state there was a maximum vouchers per table, however his response was merely that he did not need to do this and he had not put that everyone would be on the same table. He kept repeating that the deal wasnt to give us a cheap party, however that was never our intention. As local workers we had noted that it was a new restaurant and were keen to try it with a view of returning more frequently. The manager was so rude we ended up cancelling our vouchers, very disappointing as we were looking forward to trying what we thought would be a new and exciting establishment

The surf and turf deal on Amazon local was very good value indeed. We had some excellent starters and then were presented with enormous lobsters. The steaks were small, but cooked nicely and any more food would have prevented us from walking home. Perhaps a bit pricey for me at full whack, but really good on a deal. Very attentive and friendly service and a lovely view.

We had traveled this evening for nearly two hours to treat ourselves to a meal for two at this restaurant. What a waste of a whole evening. The lobster was tiny, rubbery and cold, the steak was ok but could have been hotter. A non existent salad, and a tiny basket of chips. Dessert menu was printed on a sheet of A4 paper, one of the items was sold out, the other two were chocolate based (sorry I don't do chocolate) so we were left with two other items both of which I did not fancy , but what choice was there? I should have said no to dessert at £6.50 per portion, it was a waste of money. The biscuit base was stale, the flavored cream tasted of nothing, just sickly. It's a shame, the venue is lovely, The staff were ok, but this is so not worth the money. This venue could be really something if they employed a chef who knows how to cook seafood (my husband is a chef of 25 years experience) and he said the lobster was not freshly killed, it had the wrong texture. The coffee was cold and bitter, when we mentioned this, the waitress, asked "if we had left it along time before drinking it" and "did we put sugar in it" Good grief! I strongly recommend that you go elsewhere....even McDonalds...at least the food would be hot!

Oh ,the mistake of not reading reviews before buying.I took my wife here on an Amazon local voucher for a low key lunch for two on the river. For my wife the added attraction was the family home for 60 yrs was just up the road so it was a trip back down memory lane. There was one couple eating so we could sit anywhere. As we sat down we were informed there was a cover charge of two pounds per head,Politely we enquired what for as it was not in the terms and conditions of the voucher. Rather perfunctorily we were told " that's what you will pay if you want to eat here " I explained that I had phoned twice ,once to book and once to confirm and it was never mentioned.Again " we don't have to ,that's what you pay if you want to eat here "Fair enough the terms and conditions stated clearly that a discretionary service charge of 15% would be added an industry norm!but nothing whatsoever about this hidden cover charge. We declined ,politely ,to stay.On the way out we noticed that the manageress went to speak with a lady eating outside, obviously higher up the chain than she. This lady then decided to pitch in ,saying that's what you have to pay ,it's good value, where else can you get this deal , and the cover charge has nothing to do with the restaurant.I had no intention of having a row,so we left and eat in the a la carte Marco Polo restaurant nearby, and excellent it was .Amazon have since refunded me ,and I now know from other reviews ,many others have experienced this .Buyer Beware!!!

Six of us visited this restaurant on Monday 11th August as we had purchased a Groupon voucher for 4 persons 3 months ago. On arrival we were informed that there was a cover charge of £2 each plus a discretionary service charge of 12½% . I said we were not aware of the cover charge and it had not been advertised. Not a good start... So Surf and turf x 4. Our two other diners ordered cod and chips and burger and chips. The waitress came back to say there were no burgers so a rib eye was ordered. Starters of prawns and lobster bisque were ok. Balsamic and oil (can’t go wrong there) with bread which arrived far too warm so subsequently was too hard when it cooled down .On speaking to a member of staff and asking how long it had been open (I hadn’t previously read any reviews) she said 5 months but that they had had not good reviews, so I asked her what had been done since those reviews and was told that things had changed in the kitchen and with the waiting staff, so I was really hoping they had acted on those reviews…The meals arrived which looked good. Salad and fries fine, lobster yummy but the steaks all round were not good and very disappointing. Nothing like the rib-eye we would usually be served. Very glad we had not paid the full price for the surf and turf, or was it because we paid a promotional price??The cod was thickly battered but undercooked, the fish itself was acceptable.I was presented with a yummy desert as it was my birthday.Overall:Could not fault the service. A friend decided to book us a table at the Lobster House Putney. I arrived alone at 6pm because my friend who booked the table was running late. I walked in and all 5 restaurant staff were doing nothing and all the tables inside were empty except for two people on the jetty outside. I told them the name and they said no table has been booked. I phoned my friend a few minutes away received confirmation and still they said there was no booking. I was eventually told to have a table anyway,( geee thanks!!!!!!). The chair was sunken in, mis-matched, dirty and broken. The food took a long time to arrive as they were more concerned with the jetty outside. Two ladies came in, sat at a table and left after 5 minutes. We were the only people there for the hour and a bit we stayed there. When we left we were not greeted/bid farewell/thanked. Customer service is the most terrible i have had in London.

This was the worst restaurant experience I ever had. We had a voucher from Living social which included half a lobster, fries and salad, as well as a glass of wine but when we asked for a soft drink instead we were told we couldn't swap it, but could purchase it on top of the deal. We perceived this as pretty rude, as I can't have alcohol due to medical reasons. On top of that they informed us that they had to charge us a so called "cover charge" on top of the voucher deal, which was £2 per person (We have bought many vouchers but never heard of anything like this before). We were quite confused about this charge which was mentioned nowhere on the voucher and just seemed like they randomly wanted to increase the price. When asking the waiter to explain it he said it is to cover the loss they are making with these vouchers. Not very professional in my opinion. We felt like the staff's behaviour was totally unprofessional (especially when asked for the supervisor, who did not want to help at all), customer service was pretty much non existent. Food was a tiny half a lobster, which was cold and we felt like it was only equivalent to a starter. We ended up going somewhere else afterwards, as we were still hungry. Result: Definitely don't bother wasting your money on their voucher deals!!

Booked using an Amazon Local voucher for Sunday 10 Aug 14 at 5pm and we were the only customers when we arrived. Greeted at the door by the lady duty manager who was very plesant and led us to our table. She explained the £2 cover charge per person and the 12.5% discretionary service charge and gave us a couple of menus to have a look at. She came over and took our order asking if we wanted any side orders or starters to go with the voucher main course of lobster tail and rib eye steak. We chose to have the oysters to start at £2 each which were very nice, the main course was tasty but as previous reviewers had said the portions were very small and the steak was not like any rib eye I have had before it was very thin and weighed about 3oz with no marbling running through it which is a distinct feature of rib eye steaks and the lobster was not very meaty. The wine was suprisingly nice with a rich fruity taste and nicely chilled. My wife had cheesecake for dessert and this was really nice and I had a pint of draught Peroni which was very nice. The final bill came to £26 plus the £29 we paid for the voucher including the service charge etc so to be quite honest that wasn't bad. Overall we both enjoyed our meals and the manager and waiting staff were plesant and we had a bit of a laugh and a joke with them. The portions were small but the food was tasty and I would have felt robbed if I had paid full price. The restaurant is in a nice position next to the Thames and is nicely set out but it is obviously struggling at the moment which is a shame but if they are hoping to get repeat customers from the Amazon vouchers they need to WOW customers with quality offerings and reasonable portion sizes.

My partner and I were in two minds about visiting the Lobster House, having seen such mixed reviews. The result? I'm so glad we went!We went Sunday evening. The restaurant was intimate, beautifully laid out, with great views of the Thames and laid back music that is just loud enough to enjoy without invading quiet conversation. The staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. The Lobster House chef knows how to provide perfectly cooked and wonderfully presented food. I love lobster - and the Lobster House gave me an absolute treat. We went with an Amazon Local deal of £30 for two, for lobster, rib-eye steak, salad and fries and a glass of house wine. Now . . . some people have complained that the portions are small for the deal. That is a little unfair and simply not true, unless you have a bottomless stomach - for cheap and cheerful, go to Pizza Express or Mc Donalds. This is fine dining to give a satisfying taste of perfectly prepared steak and lobster - I'd love to know where you could buy a huge half lobster and enormous rib-eye for £15 a head! This deal is perfect as an introduction to what the Lobster House has on offer. If you are a big eater, have a good lunch before dining here in the evening and you won't be disappointed! We chose the house red to accompany our meal and it was a fruity, rich Italian red that was very palatable. We also indulged in the restaurant's panacotta, which was to die for!All in all, we had a perfect evening at the Lobster House. Their full menu is selective and looks great. It's not a cheap restaurant, but neither is it hugely expensive . . . it is great value for incredibly good food prepared exceptionally well in a charmingly situated place with lovely staff and brilliant views of the Thames. We will definitely be going back in the near future.

We went to the Lobster House on a Sunday evening with the Groupon voucher offer, and had our evening ruined by the owner's unwelcoming treatment: demanding an additional £2 cover charge (for breads that we did not receive). In addition, the portion size of the meal makes this a terrible Groupon deal. When we arrived at the restaurant, an Oriental looking man asked if we had dined at the restaurant before. We answered 'no'. He proceeded to tell us that there will be an additional £2 cover charge per person for breads etc for Groupon customers eventhough it was not advertised on the offer because he (the owner) was losing money on the deal, had problems with the manager/staff etc. He said that if we were not happy with the cover charge, we should seek a refund from Groupon. I think he actually preferred to turn Groupon customers away to minimise his losses!!Anyway we decided to stay and try the offer " A 6oz rib-eye steak sits side-by-side with a whole lobster tail, both served with a side of fries and salad" for £16 instead of £32. The lobster tail was tasty albeit it small. The fries were thin and crispy. The salad was satisfactory. The 6oz rib-eye steak did not look anything like the Groupon offer photo. See attached photos and decide for yourselves if it is worth £32 full price. I am surprised to see the offer still being advertised on Groupon today (10 August 2014). I think the Groupon offer is a terrible deal so save yourselves from disappointment and the owner of Lobster House a favour - get a refund. I will certainly not be returning to Lobster House.I feel sorry for the staff being caught in the middle of this drama. The owner should just sort out his mistake with the Groupon on the offer, instead creating a terrible reputation, disappointing customers and creating a stressful environment with his staff.

This restaurant is set for failure. We didn't even set foot inside this restaurant after a horrific but presumingly simply phone call. I booked the table over a week ago after purchasing an amazon local voucher, I called this evening to confirm only to be told for the first time that I had to print off my amazon voucher and couldn't eat without a printed version despite having the online copy. Really? Do they not have a printer? Will this prevent a customer? Apparently so, this is a deal Breaker and will stop you eating here...The manager was rude, unaccomodating, obnoxious and barely comprehensible. I also spoke to a 'director' who was no better. Ultimately the point boiled down to the fact they wanted a printed voucher and without this they would rather turn custom away. The director constantly interrupted me, told me she was speaking out of work time and nothing could be done... Judging from other reviews the staff need training if not firing. After being excited for a lovely meal, I ended up opting for a beautiful dinner in Battersea and asked for a refund. I will never ever go here and suggest you do not buy this voucher .EP

We obtained a groupon to go to this eating place and were just horrified by what we received in terms of portion size. Although the food was very tasty it just wasn't enough and wouldn't even have fed a small child. We were left hungry as the portions were so small and also we were quite shocked by the rudeness of the serving staff Who were very short with us and still expected service charge afterwards even though they hadn't really delivered good enough service. On a positive we were seated by the river Thames which was lovely and it was a nice day but travelling as far as we did just to eat very little was definitely very underwhelming. Am truly amazed that given the bad reviews for this place it still exists and would encourage the owners to listen to their customers and change things.

JUST RIDICULOUS , STAY HOME! Spent a nice and relaxing night out with my girlfriend without inspecting too much if the the staff was not enough "friendly" or "smiley" because of the realistic understaff situation but being under-staff may occur and then instead of kill this (nice) restaurant by covering it on a landslide a bad reviews, just for the sake of it, simply try to understand the situation and in spite of it we had my food in time, got everything i've been asking for from the waitresses..that is it. the guys told me that the kitchen is also changed since few days and trying to improve the kitchen standard as the restaurant deserve so...being a local we will definitively come back to try the a-la-carte menu. for the reviewers of before: ENJOY YOUR LIFE A BIT MORE !

Pleasant enough staff, yet completely untrained and totally overwhelmed, swimming against a tide of mediocrity and a complete absence of any discernible management. The food was cold, the service non-existent and by 8.30PM the inside of the restaurant was utter carnage, with dirty dinner plates covering the entire bar top; it was unprofessional to the point of being embarrassing. The catastrophes are too many to mention, suffice to say that if they are not serious about being in the restaurant game then maybe they should try something different, instead of ruining people's nights out.

I am not given to be negative for the sake of it, but this restaurant really does need to get its act together. Sadly, I can only condone what most people have written on here. We used the Amazon Local offer - and the steak was certainly not a rib eye, more a minute steak. The "whole lobster tail" was in fact half a lobster each. This - copied and pasted from my voucher - was the description: Deal includes Whole Lobster Tail & Rib Eye Steak, Fries and Salad, with a glass of house red or white wine. (I shall be taking this up with Amazon as it really is a total misrepresentation. Had we paid full price (£32.00 each for the main course alone) then I really would have had very strong grounds for objection - but even at the discounted price the food was poor value for money. It wasn't the serving girls' fault - and there didn't appear to be a manager around to complain to.) When we arrived (a Saturday lunchtime) our booking hadn't been recorded in the book in spite of booking the day before. The smell of fish outside of was all pervading and while the location is brilliant I can only see this restaurant dying on its feet. The owner ought to be ashamed. The servers were very sweet, but hopelessly disorganised - and the restaurant wasn't even particularly busy. We sat on the jetty - but it really could do with shades (like the far busier Marco Polo just across the way). It was a hot day - hotter in fact than we had anticipated upon arrival - but the restaurant isn't air-conditioned and it felt stuffy inside. A further minor gripe was that the flower baskets obscured the view. Service was slow and the food could only be described as mediocre. All in all, an experience that we won't be repeating - which is a pity as it really is a great location. We may well try Marco Polo though...

Got bought steak and lobster vouchers. Following a request to pay over the odds for a bit of additional food...was refused!!.....asked to just pay more with a credit for the voucher and at the end of the meal a voucher for two was credited with one lobster. Two of us no alcohol, no pudding still cost £70 on top of vouchers!!! Been in the wc ever since not just crying over the bill !!!! 3 hours of vitreous enamel kinda takes the passion out!!

I had a voucher for here and there were mixed reviews but I was willing to give it a go. The service was pretty nonexistent from the moment we walked into the restaurant. After a wait as they were trying to seat people who may not have booked (in a pretty empty place), we were seated and asked how we liked the steaks. The food came out pretty quickly, and so did the wine. And then we were ignored for the next 2 hours. We were not given anything to crack the claws open with, I had to ask 3 times before I got these (at which point the lobster was cold and rubbery). We never got any tap water. It felt like we were in the way of the staff.I would not recommend

Warning... Negative review alert. This was one of the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. The place was almost empty on a Friday night at 8pm. The staff were over cocky to the point of rude. It felt like we were in their way. Then the food... We ordered the house special steak and lobster. As much as I enjoy a prompt service, anything that arrives 10 minutes after we ordered can't be good! It was clearly pre cooked and heated. We asked for medium rare steak and a minimum steak. Both came out over cooked. We will never go there again.

Other reviewers primed us for the lunch - using an amazon local voucher - not being as good as we'd hoped, and I agree with other writers that the management needs to sharpen up their act. The waiting staff are friendly and pleasant, but not working smoothly as a brigade. And why not get some sun shades out on the pontoon - not everyone wants to fry in 28C heat! We were given a decent table inside but there was no flexibility on the voucher as one guest wanted something other than the set lobster and steak, even though she would have happily chosen something more modest. So that was a shame. I started with lobster bisque which was disgusting and harsh and inedible. It was replaced with a tian of crab which was largely tasteless. Other starters were better, tiger prawns, sardines got the thumbs up. I cannot fault the lobster and steak, it was perfectly cooked, neither over nor under, though the chips were too salty to eat....patchy....we decided to have a pud, and my panacotta was very good, though the chocolate fondants were decidedly unfondant and disappointingly like dry chocolate sponge. A good bottle of sauvignon blanc saved the day, and the deal's inclusive glass of wine was drinkable enough. Would love to go back, but not at this price: Two main courses and a glass of wine on the deal cost £58. The starters and desserts and a £26 bottle of good sauvignon blanc and 12.5% service brought the extras up to another £93. £38 per head would have been fine for the location and surf and turf, three courses....but not with the errors. Pity.

I booked 12 days in advance for a party of 10 for my birthday - I live on the road and thought it would be nice to stumble from my home to the restaurant and book after having a good amount of food and drink..... The person who took my booking decided we could have a table upstairs, only thing is she forgot to tell everyone else working that night. The entire upstairs was empty and they simply forgot we were there (they were too tight to turn on the air conditioning - I was not having that on the hottest day of the year!), although we were not lonely. There were about a hundred spiders on the curtains and windows to keep us company! The whole sorry episode took over 2.5 hours and the proprietor did not have a clue how to satisfy disappointed customers.... He asked me what did I want as a compensation..... I told him to keep the suggestions coming and I would let him know when he hit the mark lol Anyone one with half a brain would have been reeling things off the menu like there was no tomorrow. The saddest thing is the food was actually ok and the poor waitress who served us was nice. The manager was useless: he needs to get a clue about customer service, good communication with his staff, and employ some pest control to address the insect issue.

Because of previous reviews I was skeptical but wanted tot ind a riverside restaurant. I was certainly not disappointed The oysters were the best I have ever tasted. The choice of wines was excellent and for £18 had a delicious Marlborough Sauvignon blanc. The lobster was nicely cooked and well served. Service was excellent and friendly. The deserts were too sweet for my taste and it was a shame that a cheeseboard was not on offer or fresh fruit, however, the waiter found me some cheese and all was well. It is a shame that the owner does not realise that he has a prime and wonderful location and should maximise ti. A fabulous terrace on the river with a beautiful sunset yet there were no heaters or umbrellas. He should take advantage of this amazing area and maximise is potential. I would definitely go there again

We went here last Sunday for lunch despite the bad reviews and can only think the restaurant has taken note and some. We had a table on the pontoon overlooking the river, we ordered some drinks while we looked at the menu, and given the reviews expected a long wait, we were wrong. The drinks came up with some bread within a few minutes. We all ordered fish, which was some of the freshest we have ever eaten. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a lovely lunch. The only downside is they do not have a children's menu, so my 6 year old had to have an adult portion of fish and chips, that said there was no fish left as the cod was so nice, my husband finished what was left!!

My wife and I had visited the Lobster House a couple months previously and had a thoroughly lovely lobster dinner. So we thought we would take two friends with us to share our experiences. We saw that there was a surf and turf offer on amazon for £29.00 which seemed like a bargain. So my wife called up to book a table on Sunday 20 July, unfortunately they were fully booked which seemed odd. I then called up but never mentioned the voucher and was able to book a table. Not quite sure what happened there?I then called back to let them know about the vouchers, which all seemed fine.We turned up to an empty restaurant but with a few tables taken outside on the pontoon, which seemed strange as we were expecting a busy restaurant. We handed in our vouchers and took our seats. Ordered some wine (even though our meal came with a glass of wine) and ordered our starters which were all fine. We were then asked how we’d like our steaks rare, medium rare etc etc and waited for our mains. Our plates arrived with the thinnest steak (I ordered rare) I have ever had in a restaurant, if the chef could have cooked that steak rare I’d have shaken him by the hand as flash grilling it for any longer than 10 seconds would have cremated it. I’m sure if you held it up to the light you could have quite possibly seen right through it! Luckily the half a very small lobster had far more meat on it. Thankfully we all got chips or we’d have had to stop on the way home to get some sandwiches. The deal is a nonsense and not worth it in any way shape or form. You’d be far better to order off the a la carte to save huge DISAPPOINTMENT.

Terrible service from start to finish. At every stage we were left waiting - to order, to receive our drinks, starters and main course. They brought the wrong starters, took them back to the kitchen then emerged 20 minutes later with the same plates and said we could have those on the house while ours would be along shortly...Crab and mango starter absolutely revolting, chilli squid edible and steak so chewy I couldn't finish it. What a shameful waste of a stunning location overlooking the waterfront. Gordon Ramsay needn't look any further for his next Kitchen Nightmare.

Arrived a bit earlier than our table was booked for and we had the Amazon voucher. We were warmly greeted and seated. The staff were lovely, just too few of them and the area they had to cover was too big. The food was delicious but very small portions and our particular dish was not on the menu so it is debatable whether we had a good deal or not. We do not have a big appetites but we both left hungry after also having desserts. The place had no atmosphere and the phone was constantly ringing unanswered (extremely irritating) as the staff were either outside or upstairs trying to serve their customers. It is such a shame as it is in a lovely spot and could be so much better. We will not be returning.

Came here with my boyfriend using an Amazon Local deal (£29 for a steak, lobster, chips, salad and a glass of wine each). Despite reading some negative reviews on here we were pleasantly surprised! All the food tasted lovely and the wine was fine. My boyfriend would have preferred the portions to be a bit bigger but what we got for £29 was good really! The staff were really polite and the restaurant/location was nice. I assume perhaps the restaurant upped there game due to the negative reviews on here. We had none of the issues others have stated.

Booked with an Amazon Local voucher £29 for 1/2 lobster, rib-eye steaks, fries, salad garnish & glass of house wine for 2 people. Fantastic value for money. Original price is £45, which is still very good value for money. Could not fault The Lobster House & would recommend everyone to try it. It is in a wonderful location at Point Pleasant, overlooking the Thames and next to the lovely Wandsworth Park. We received a warm, friendly welcome from the staff. The service was excellent-very efficient with great attention to detail. The food was served very promptly and was beautiful. Lobster was delicious, steak was amongst the best I have ever had and gorgeous fries. The dessert menu was also very tempting and I couldn't resist. I was in heaven with my chocolate fondant and vanilla ice cream. Beautifully presented and tasted amazing. When my husband & I left to return to our car I misplaced my mobile, thinking I must have left it in the restaurant I returned to check. The staff could not have been more helpful, helping to look and asking around as well as 1 member of staff phoning my phone from her phone. Thank you very much

We arrived at 5pm as we were told the restaurant was fully booked later on - whilst we were there for a couple of hours and the place certainly didn't get full, I can understand why they try to keep space for people who don't have vouchers [as we did]. We weren't hurried or made to feel uncomfortable on account of taking advantage of a deal, however. The service was very efficient and friendly and the location was a real treat, we had a seat on the private jetty in the sunshine, overlooking the Thames. My rare steak was bang on although my boyfriend's medium rare was a little over. No big deal there, we both agreed that our crab starter, the lobster, bearnaise and chips were perfectly done. The steak was small but at £15 per steak and lobster - how can you ask for more!? They have Peroni on tap which is a nice touch and the Deutz Champagne at £34 was an absolute bargain. We had an incredible fondant for dessert which went very nicely with our [drinkable!] complimentary glass of house red. One little comment is that there didn't seem to be a cheese plate which would have topped off the meal perfectly. I would recommend and certainly go again to try some more of their dishes.

I went there on Thursday evening with a friend. On arrival there was a faint smell of rotten fish at the entrance. Behind the bar was choc a bloc full of dirty plates. Despite this at this stage I was committed and against my better judgement I asked for a table for two! The waitress asked if I had a reservation and when I said no she shook her head in a very disapproving fashion! This was despite the fact that there were only about 4 people in the restaurant and it was 930pm and clearly was not getting any busier! The waitress then answered the phone and casually lent back against the bar completely ignoring myself and my friend. After waiting about 3 or 4 minutes while the waitress seemed to be chatting to a friend we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. This was the second time I had tried this place. I decided to give it a second chance as I had been there once previously for brunch. I had their fish cakes on that occasion. At most I think I got about 3 half mouthfuls of food along with a few leaves of lettuce. Along with a coffee and service charge this cost me about £14 from what I can remember. Anyway I am a local so thought I would give the place one more chance which I now have. I will never go back!

We purchased an Amazon discount voucher for a meal of 'whole lobster tail and ribeye steak with a glass of wine' at the Lobster House, Putney, London. The general location is ok, with the exception of the stinking food waste bins by the side of the entrance. The restaurant is located by the side of the Thames and our table was on a jetty over the river. The jetty was, unfortunately, rather tacky with worn decking and loads of baskets of dead flowers and cobwebs round the edges. The 'whole lobster tail' was, in reality, a lateral half of a minute lobster with minimal flesh and the 'ribeye steak' was tough, skinny and totally tasteless, the 'glass of wine' a less-than-half-glass of an incredibly cheap and tasteless Chardonnay! In all the meal was totally avoidable. It may well be that their non-discounted meals are of a higher standard, but we won't be returning to find out!

We visited this restaurant with an amazon voucher... Fair enough, we were not FULL paying customers, but the service we received, and the food quality AND amount, were not even at the standard of the voucher itself. So apparently, if you have a voucher ....You can only book if they are completely dead and THEY tell you when you can book. I rang and asked for a table for two, it was fine, until they knew we had a voucher, and then they could not fit us in all of a sudden. This happened 3 times! Finally, we got a table at a silly hour - 6.30pm to use our voucher. The greeting on arrival was awful, we were not sat down, and the cobwebs at our table ruined our 'Thames River View'.Our wine arrived with our food - at the same time, and our starter never arrived at all. They kindly charged us for it anyway. You get a portion half the size as if you were paying in full, so in fact the voucher just reflects the price of the food portion you get. You get half the chip serving, even in different serving dishes to others, and the steak was 80% fat. The lobster left a lot to be desired. Bill arrives, overcharged, and with a 17% surcharge for the worst service ever. No-one smiled, no-one was polite, and it genuinely seemed they were upset at us for having a voucher! Don't advertise them then! We said about the overcharge - no apology of course! They amended the bill to £0, but just left the surcharge. Completely oblivious as to the service and lack of any atmosphere offered.I do not recommend it, and we will never go back. Even if it were free!

We used a groupon voucher so could just about forgive the paper thin steaks with the mediocre lobster, however, the service, which is charged, was terrible. We booked a table for 9 people, but it wasn't prepared when we arrived, then while we waited for the rest of the party to arrive, we had no table service at all, after half an hour, we finally managed to make our drinks order. The restaurant at this time was empty apart from us. The wine bottle was offered to us wordlessly, and the service continued to be unfriendly. The location is great but I've no doubt there are far better restaurants in the area.

I got the Amazon deal and went with my fiancée for an easy meal durning the week. I called in advance to book a table and had to manually spell out my unique voucher code, already a pain. Upon arrival (in an empty restaurant) I said that I had booked and the waitress asked for the printed voucher, I showed her the fine print which clearly stated that you could use your phone to show the voucher. She basically said no and that I needed to go print the voucher, not trying to find any kind of solution. We were stunned and went somewhere else, Amazon refunded the money and said that they would have a stern word with management. All in all, a horrible experience and will never go again, we thought this type of attitude towards new customers is very odd for a new restaurant in the area. Anyhow I hope them all the best.

The location of this restaurant at Prospect Point is something of a secret. It is the successor to a number of failed restaurants on this attractive site tucked away on the river between Wandsworth and Putney.. Yet it is now getting established with some of the best value for money lobsters in the Capital. The menu includes jumbo prawns and that English abomination surf and turf. We had bisque, lobster and tiger prawns and they were well cooked and tasty. The service was friendly, not over attentive, and prompt although the restaurant was far from full on a weekday lunchtime. We came away with a warm feeling about a restaurant which does not pretend to be overclassy but which occupies a very attractive position and fulfils its role as a good middle level hostelry. I wish it well and hope that it will get properly established over the summer when sunny days and evenings make it a prime location to enjoy the good weather - should there be any!.

I purchased a Groupon voucher for the 6 oz rib eye steak and whole lobster tail. Firstly the taxi cost GBP16 to get there! I ordered a starter of lobster bisque - there wasn't a piece of lobster in this bisque, just watery soup. The main course arrived and it was a half a tail (dry and tough) with a thin (less than 1 cm) steak which was raw on one side and cooked on the other! They did bring another half a tail when I mentioned I was expecting a whole tail. We left after the main course as I didn't need further disappointment! The restaurant called a taxi and suddenly the price went up to GBP20 (not metered). So if I add these costs to the meal it was no where near a good deal and it in fact was the most disappointing meal I had on my whole holiday! I certainly wouldn't do this deal or visit the restaurant again!

I was intrigued by the description, lobster and steak, riverside views, special half-price offer via Amazon...The previous evening I went to have a look, as my wife is disabled and cannot climb stairs. I was greeted by two nice young ladies from Rome, found one could eat downstairs and still have a view of the riverside walk. So I booked a table for next day lunch. (I don't like eating in the evenings). The restaurant, we arrived around 13:00 hrs., was empty apart from one oldish couple who did not seem to eat much. There was only one waiter, a Maroccan, and a lady cashier, Italian from Ancona. Both were very pleasant, although the waiter appeared a little unwilling to work. He recommended a Pinot Noir wine, I usually like this grape, but this wine was awful. From New Zealand. We had to send it back, quite undrinkable to my taste. It was replaced by an Italian Montepulciano d'Abruzzo which was much better. We had to wait a while for the main course, lobster tail and steak. The lobster tails were unfortunately rwaher dry, the steaks, sirloin, were rather thin but mine was quite good, as I like it rare.Desserts were typical, the usual choice, nothing outstanding. Coffee, we had double espressos, were reasonably good. Would we go again ? Not even at the r3duced price, one can do much better at the now many argentinian or brazylian steak b houses.

The staff refused to accommodated us, if we don’t show printed voucher (we got on mobile device), which was very annoying because on the rules of voucher is written “present printed OR smartphone”. I was forced to use PC on the place to log-in to my account and print out voucher…Out of the deal we order oysters, crab bisque soup and bottle of French rose wine. When the stuff saw us like “not cheap customers”, they upgrade our “lobster tail & steak” meal to “half lobster & steak”. House white wine was very nice too.

Sounded great on Group on, riverside location, lobster and steak for £29 so thought we would give it a go. On entering we saw the reservation list, everybody had an Amazon voucher, the restaurant was not very busy, atmosphere like a morgue, no music. We were shown to a table with no cutlery by the window, took 10 mins for someone to come over to us despite repeated attempts to call the waitresses. Reluctant to take our order, drinks took 10 mins to arrive, 2 glasses of wine? The waitress had bad breath and a dirty shirt. Food arrived, smallest bit of steak I have seen and the lobster tail had two forks of meat only. Really disappointed, we weren't made to feel welcome at all. No tip given which raised eyebrows. A great shame as fab location, new management and a real shake up required. First the good news: this is a superb riverside location which has (again) been rescued from oblivion. There have been three or four venues on this site in as many years. It had two floors each with picture windows directly overlooking the riverside walkway. There's even some additional seating on a riverside pontoon not in use on our weekday evening visit. As we waited for our mains a dramatic sunset closed over the district line bridge across the Thames adjacent to Wandsworth Park. The bad news: unless you take advantage of the Amazon £29 steak and lobster tail for two with a glass of house wine, it's a very expensive night out for food which is not much better than average for the price. I had something called a cioppino or Italian fish stew with half a lobster for £22.00. The half lobster was tasty enough but was otherwise perched atop a few clams, mussels and tiger prawns fairly swimming in a tomatoey goo. My friend opted for a Scottish lobster which was billed as sweeter (and more expensive) than the other New England lobsters on offer. Although a menu outside advertise daily specials, on Wednesday a ribeye steak and chips for £16.95, the waitress denied its existence without any explanation. Two mains, a glass of wine, a beer and two coffees came to £78.00.
