Another lovely evening at Brady’s. Excellent service and great food. We had a selection of starters, battered cod and John Dory from the fisherman’s catch. The desserts were homemade by Mrs Brady herself. Lovely ambiance. Would highly recommend.

We've been coming to Brady's for 20 years and it never disappoints. Deliciously cooked fish.. crisp, light batter and juicy skinless fish.. proper chunky chips and the usual selection of sauces and mushy peas. The homemade treacle tart with custard or cream was rich and not overly sweet..perfect for a cold late january evening. Portions are huge, service quick and always with a smile. We had a fun birthday evening so the wine flowed (a juicy French white.. perfect with fish and reasonably priced) and everyone enjoyed the evening. Brady's is in a great location..overlooking the Thames on the Wandsworth side of Wandsworth Bridge and right beside The Ship pub for a pre-supper drink. This restaurant does fish and chips really well, which keeps us coming back yaer after year.

Excellent. Couldn’t fault it. Simple light fish supper. A couple of nitpicks: Oyster forks are necessary as normal eating forks don’t work as well. The Roumanian Pinot Grigio is horrible. Nastiest wine I’ve drunk. Otherwise service, food and setting all spot on. Definitely would revisit.

We come to Brady’s every few weeks and thoroughly enjoy our food and service every time. The owners greet us warmly and give us our favourite seat in the restaurant. The menu has a classic British fish and chip menu, lots of different fish, so plenty of options and all seasonal so it tastes great. Chips are included (and plenty of them!) plus many great sides are available, the starters are all delicious too. Good wine list too and not too expensive. A great local favourite and always nice and busy. Will continue to go back regularly !

My wife and I decided to try Brady's for lunch today after a few friends recommended it. We looked at their website and noticed their £7.25 fish and chips with mushy peas lunch special which sounded perfect. Unfortunately, it wasn't on the menu when we got there. Our waitress came to our table to take our orders. She didn't appear to want to be there. Not even a fake smile. I decided to go with the fish and chips anyway at £12.95 plus a side of mushy peas at £1.95. Shortly after ordering a couple came in and ordered the 'lunch special'. Then four more people came in and ordered the same. My wife ordered the sole which wasn't very good but that might be why our orders came out later than those that the others ordered after us in the restaurant. Their £7.25 fish and chips and mushy peas looked exactly like what I received for £14.90! There was no difference other than what they paid. When I brought this to our servers attention and explained that we had originally come to get two lunch specials but didn't see it on the menu nor was it suggested, she agreed to give me the lunch special price. When she returned, she had reduced the price of my meal to £9.25 but still charged me the £1.95 for the mushy peas. I wasn't going to keep quibbling over a few pounds and just paid it. The biggest insult was that they added a 12.5% tip to the bill! What for? She wasn't the happiest person to have at your table. She couldn't even bring herself to tell us about the lunch special! The food is edible but nothing to go back for.

Some days you get served by the lovely wait staff, get great fresh draft Asahi with just-caught scallops...and sometimes you get the somewhat surly owners making you feel like you interrupted their evening (or they have decided not to abide by their stated opening hours - this often happens if you try to go before 6pm on a Saturday). I have to agree with those reviewers who have mentioned these latter issues! We still go there, as it is pretty good, but it does burn you occasionally. It is a nice spacious restaurant, so great for kids and prams, etc, which is a fairly rare find.

Despite hit and miss food and indifferent service we have been loyal customers for a couple of years. We have eaten in the restaurant, but we usually request a take away, which incidentally is part of Brady's offer. We have often waited up to an hour for this, but this time we were smartly told 'no not tonight we are too busy.' No apology, or regret, total indifference and possibly even satisfaction. We regret the money we have spent there over the years, and tolerating your rudeness, so we will not be spending there EVER again. We have been coming to Bradys ever since they first opened on Old York road 27 years ago. My previous reviews marked Bradys 5 out of 5 but tonight was ever so disappointing.Sorry Luke and Amelia! my mum was so looking forward to her battered fish as Bradys is here favourite place and she only gets to visit a couple of times a year but the batter was soggy and the fish very wet and grey. The frites my partner ordered with his steak were burnt at the edges and dry and it was obvious they were cheap oven chips. I love the grilled fish at Bradys for the charcoal flavour on crispy skin and the herbed top but today's fish was soggy, flacid wet skin with barely a herb topping and covered in olive oil. I would say the fish was steamed rather than grilled. There was so much water on my plate I had to pour it off. The regular chips and mushy peas were fine. We complained to the maitre d who said Luke wasn't in that evening and she offered us a free pud although even that was poor. The treacle tart was overheated and the pastry was burnt. It came with a very measly portion of custard. The people sat next to us sent back their starters so there is obviously something is very wrong with Bradys at the moment. It's very sad because we love the place.

This was our second visit to Brady's, having had a poor experience a few weeks prior, but I always believe in giving restaurants a second chance. Having waited 30 minutes for our take away we were really hungry and ready for a good meal. However: - the batter on the fish was soft and watery- the fish was soggy - the mushy peas were in the smallest pot ever seen and they were also cold, despite saying when we ordered that they had been cold the last time and could the peas at least be warm this timeAnd to top it all, the restaurant stuffed our order of 2 children's portions and 2 adult portions of fish and chips into 2 take away cardboard boxes. Come on guys ... if you ask for 4 take away meals you at least expect to get a separate box per portion. Is this just penny pinching or poor customer service?!If you are thinking of going to this restaurant I would give it a wide birth. There are many better fish and chip restaurants locally.

Went for dinner, we were a couple (plus a dog!) in a summer evening . They didnt have many choices (which is a good sign!!) and the fish was fresh. Simply grilled in olive oil and very fresh: exactly how we love it! We also had scallops (as the second main): I was initially a bit disappointed when they arrived since the portion was a bit small (well, compared with the price and compared with the huge fish that came in the other main). However, they were soooooo delicious!!!!! The owners were really friendly and made us welcome (all of us, including our dog, which is a plus !!!) Bravo!!! We are very very happy to have discovered a place like that in London ! Feel like we are on holiday in the south coast: we leave nearby in Fulham, so we hope to be back soon !!!

I've been here 10 times or so over the years, usually when it's someone else's choice. I so want to like it, little local of long standing charging modest prices for simple fresh seafood, sounds great, right? Sadly the food's always mediocre and the service ranges from bad to defies-belief-awful and it's the latter that we got this week. Such a pity. Guess the reason they charge around 12% for service on the bill is that no one would voluntarily hand over anything at all.

We had some friends over for a long weekend, the weather was exceptional, so after a drink on a terrace we decided to try Brady's that offered a good variety of fish and seafood according to reviews on TA.Once inside, we placed an order very promptly but just to be told in a minute that one of our starters was not longer available (4 of us ordered fish cakes as a starter). So, we've ordered another starter. But couple of minutes after we were notified that only 1 fish cake was available. We re-ordered again. 2 starters arrived, then we waited another 15 min for another 2 starters to appear. Not sure what caused this confusion, we were not given any reasons or apologies. We have also ordered a kids menu and the food arrived only after our main courses arrived. The food was pretty average, lacking of flavour and presentation. The fish was very fresh though. The service certainly leaves much to be desired: the owner was not particularly friendly, waiter looked confused and couldn't offer much help.Overall, a very average experience, will not be coming back.

The food took 50 minutes to arrive and when it did there was just nothing stand out about it. The service was entirely indifferent towards the diners. The owner spent most of her time chatting on her mobile which does not make a good impression. 2 side salads arrived with one bowl stacked on the other so one of the salads was pressed flat. This is a real shame as the location is great and the restaurant looks full of promise from the outside.

My husband and I went there last Sunday and both had small haddock, chips and mushy peas. Used to go for many years when it was in Old York Road but since it moved to the new location we felt the food was not as good. However, our experience on Sunday was just as good as the old days, if not better. The quality of the haddock was excellent, the batter crispy and melt in the mouth, the chips very good and the mushy peas the tastiest mushy peas you can get. And of course their trademark sauces were the icing on the cake (tartar and various flavoured mayos). Only criticism is that it was not very busy so lacked a bit of atmosphere. However, we were so glad we gave it another try. Definitely recommend it if you want an upmarket fish & chip restaurant in a lively setting. They also do various grilled fishes, which I have had in the past and are very good, but not cheap. Good location by the river and has space outside if the weather is good.

I was staying at the Holiday Inn just around the corner and was looking for something fairly quick, substantial and at a reasonable price. I had checked out local restaurants and decided to find Bradys. The picture does not do this friendly, family run business justice. I ordered the large haddock and chips with a side of mushy peas not expecting a whole plate of beautifully cooked haddock in a light batter with chips and mushy peas on the side. All washed down with a pint of local beer, I was anticipating the bread and butter pudding next but I had to give in and waddled out to have a sleep at the hotel I was so full. Friendly and attentive service, I was however surprised that at 6pm it was not fuller. I will definitely be back next time I stay but I am going for the small version so I can get that pud in.

A hidden gem of a fish restaurant. I visited with family who reside in the area. I had the special fish which was cooked to perfection. The menu is specialist which is good because they focus on a small variety of dishes and try to cook them well. The focus is on main dishes and not starters as such, which is something that could be added. One recommendation is to ask for all the dips that come with the fish. These were delightful with the meal. The staff were very attentive and did everything to make our dinner a pleasant evening. I am sure we will be visiting again!

Bradys specialise in all things fish - it's basically a very posh chippy. They also do grilled fish for those seeking healthier options (and a solitary steak frites for committed carnivores) Their starers are lovely - potted shrimps were lush, sweet herring and anchovies exemplary. The battered fish was very good but one of our party ordered scallops that were served cold. Puddings are traditionally British - their apple crumble is very good, others more ho hum. Prices are trifle steep, but the location is great - on the river Thames at Galleons Reach, Wandsworth, with outdoor seating available on balmy evenings. Wine list ok. Service pleasant but a bit harassed.

This was a disappointing visit. We arrived to be met by a disinterested manageress. The staff were not friendly or enthusiastic and we felt we had to ask for things instead of being offered, e.g. the sauces, then the vinegar and the menu for desert after waiting some time. The main courses were good but the treacle tart was average and the tart and the custard were luke warm. Also what other restaurant charges extra for custard? £51 for one small fish, one large, 2 drinks and one desert was too expensive. We specifically asked for a small wine and got a large which we were billed for and then saw the 12.5% service charge which asked to be removed. We were asked why we weren't happy with the service and were then told they were sorry but Friday nights were always busy. Perhaps more staff should be brought in when it's busy.......We used to love Brady's but were very disappointed this time.

I have eaten at Brady's for over the last 25 years, even at their previous site. The battered fish used to be probably the best I have ever eaten in the UK. The slab of Cod was delicious and the hunk of Haddock was wonderfully flaky. Last night my freind and I ordered cod, haddock, chips and mushy peas. The latter two were delicious, with a wonderful flavour of beef dripping to the chips. The fish however were disappointing to say the least, meagre, flat, indistinguishable bits of white fish, neither were flaky and had both been cut to look like a fish shape; I thought Cod were huge? The atmosphere is always lovey to match the lovely husband and wife team that make you safel so welcome. Please bring back the real bits of fish.

Nice restaurant location and pleasant staff. Sadly the glasses were dirty but the manager swiftly changed those. We ordered a pint of prawns but they were shelled and did not look fresh so we returned them. The manager removed these off the bill. Lastly our main dish came which was seabass and chips. The seabass was delicious and overall good main.

Without doubt the best fish and chips in England. The fish is always fresh never ever frozen. Great crispy chips and big pots of sauces.

I went with my wife after I read the reviews on trip advisor, and we were not disappointed. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. The owner and his lovely wife came to our table, and we had a nice chat, which ended up with them serving us to 2 glasses of wine. I certainly recommend it, especially if you like fish

We really enjoyed our visit tonight with our kids and friends who lived locally to this restaurant. We were lucky with the weather but walked down to the riverside location and were able to eat outside. Great selection of fish available and my Cod & chips was gorgeous. Washed down with a lovely bottle of wine. To finish we had some lovely lemon cheesecake and ice cream. Great place and would highly recommend.

I'm a Wandsworth resident and this restaurant is #1 for the freshest fish - battered or grilled. No fuss, no frills. A great space too - light and airy. Visiting friends and family love it here. There's the regular menu and a special handwritten menu for the daily catch. I recommend the grilled hake and plaice if available. The succulent scallops too! And the CHIPs are the BEST of the BEST!!!!

I like this restaurant, because the fish and chips is always good. This time I had prawns to start with and then grilled smoked haddock with mushy peas and chips. The food was very fresh as usual and the different dips are really nice. The chef uses fresh herbs and that's great. They didn't give anything to clean our hands after eating the prawns. Since they were in their shells we had to clean them by hands but when we used our napkins, the waitress took them and she didn't replace the napkins. There was limestone on the pitcher.

After a day at Wimbledon we arrived after 9.30pm and was glad to get served at this time of night. Haddock and chips was chosen. Nice white fish but felt it hadn't been left to drain after frying so film of oil on plate. Chips chunky and well cooked. Choice of classic dishes of apple crumble and bread n butter pudding for afters or ice cream but were full-up so didn't need it.

We were back in London visiting family, we live in the States. It was wonderful to find one of our old favourites had moved to a new larger location, with a nice bar on the river right next to the Ship. The area has changed so much. The owners are warm & welcoming. We were a party of 11 aged from 9 through teens to parents of teens. We enjoyed various starters; mussels were delicious, potted shrimp 'excellent'. The fish was very fresh, I enjoyed the battered plaice. best fish & chips in a long time, right up there with Rick Stein's! I'm pretty sure that Wandsworth Bridge is now accessible by river bus, so an easy way for visitors to London to get good fish & chips away from the usual tourist spots.

It takes an hour for us to get here, but we do it regularly because this place is so superb. Friendly, family-owned and the people here care. Food is delicious; fish can be fried or grilled. Good selection of starters and deserts and a surprising good, inexpensive, wine list. Highly, highly recommend.

We had been intending to try for years having heard great reviews from its Old York Road days. This is a simple fish restaurant but with a broad menu, fantastically fresh fish, the most amazing crispy chips and a range of real ales as well as well as wines at very reasonable prices. The restaurant has a contemporary feel with terrace looking towards the river. Well worth hunting down off Smugglers Way, Wandsworth, We'll be back!

Having been 'in London' all day, we just wanted a drink and 'a light bite.' We arrived past 9pm and asked if we could just a have a drink. When we looked at the menu we were both tempted by the 'starters,' and asked if we could just take a starter. The owner was very friendly and reassuringly told us we could have 'whatever we wanted.' Although we chose to sit on high stools near to the bar, we were still offered a table and not made to feel that we had to order more than we wanted. Very accomodating! It was a shame we didin't want more as the food we had and saw looked very good.

Great location for this shabby-chic seafood restaurant in Wandsworth. The fish and oysters, fresh from the coast of Cornwall, are amazing and beautifully presented. Good wine list and desserts to die for. Warm and friendly owners and staff. The only regret is that we weren't able to go there in daylight: the al fresco dining "pied dans l'eau" on the Thames must be lovely. Next time!

Tried this place again because the concept is good but the owner is so rude and is only interested in drinking with his mates at the bar! Ignored by the staff until we almost had to shout for attention.....I don't think our fish was fresh as the taste was disguised by an overabundance of herbs!Last visit for us....we have tried....

We stumbled across this place by chance, and it turned out to be one of the best fish & chips places I've been to in London. The menu has a good choice of different types of fish (not only traditional battered fish & chips but also fresh grilled fish, which looked like it varied from one day to the next, presumably depending on what was fresh). I had the mussels, whilst the other people I was with had grilled hake and battered haddock, all of which were very tasty. The chips (and accompanying sauces) were also very good. The ambiance is fairly modern but welcoming, and they've got a nice riverside location, though it's probably a bit wasted in winter since you wouldn't want to sit outside. They serve Shepherd Neame beer which is a nice touch. The prices are a bit above what you'd probably pay at your local chippie (roughly in the £15-20 region for a meal) but not unreasonable - roughly what you'd expect from an upmarket chippie - and the quality is better than a kerbisher & malt. I'm sure we'll be back before too long.

A lovely location - right on the riverside at Wandsworth. Superb fish and chips run by a charming man who oversees everything. Particularly good for a family supper/lunch out. Menu is simple and straightforward and surroundings are delightful. There is a bar at one end of the restaurant so if you wanted to dine solo quietly, you can eat at the bar. Very popular with my children! Well worth a visit.

This is a wonderful place.fish and chip heaven!! The owner is always there to greet you in a modern airy restaurant. In summer you can eat outside and watch the river. The restaurant is not easy to find. It is situated next to the Ship Inn just before crossing Wandsworth Bridge you turn left. Parking is not easy if it's busy. The great thing is you can get traditional fish and chips- whether it be cod or haddock or whatever is on the menu BUT they offer a fresh grilled fish menu every day for those who don't want batter. Sea bass, tuna, fresh haddock, whatever the catch is that day and it's all top quality fish and reasonably priced obviously from great suppliers. Never had a bad piece of fish. They do great starters - say king sized grilled prawns if you want them or to share while waiting. You can have a salad and a choice of 8 sauces all freshly mixed, dill, capers, tomato etc. They also do good puddings, reasonably priced wine list and good coffee. I believe they are closed Monday's. All on their web site. Great local following. Usually no need to book but Friday's and Saturdays may be better to book. For visitors to London you can walk along by the river and see this part of south London .

Was so looking forward to an amazing and delicious dinner and was disappointed not so much by the fish but the lack of an engaging, stimulating menu. There were no nibbles available with drinks so we shared one fish cake cut in four which equalled £1 a bite; the bread was supermarket slice with margarine, and our second bottle of red was dubious.

To call this just a fish and chip shop, would be a little disparaging, it's more of a fish restaurant, they have a variety of sea food to suit everyone's taste. The fish is fresh, tasty and the service was fast and efficient.

I have used this chip shop for years and even though it has new owners the food and atmosphere is still great. The staff are lovely and very friendly. I tried their new smash burger and WOW I can highly recommend this lovely new burger. As always there were plenty of chips so once again great value for money.
