That was the best haddock I've had in years in london . It was huge and meaty and the batter was light and crispy on both sides and not greasy! Really really nice top quality ....the chips were also lovely amd the house salad was nice n fresh with balsamic vinegar

Ordered a pie in the meal, packaging had a best before of September 2023... It's august the following year. Disgusting

£17.95 for skinny small slither of mediocre cod and half standard chips! Could not believe that people pay this for fish and chips!!!!!!!! Will not return.

Had dinner here tonight and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend haddock over the cod if you were looking for fish and chips. Get a side of the curry sauce for your chips. You won’t be disappointed. Service was wonderful, and the food was even better.

My favourite fish and chips place in the neighborhood, well it is the only one. Good food and cold beer, all I need.

Excellent Cod, fried well and tasted good, huge size, unfortunately forgettable chips, hand made and ok, but absolutely soft and not crunchy unfortunately. Excellent value for money for fish, extremely kind and smiling owner.

i’ve been here with my family for dinner. the owner is very kind and hospitable. i’ve been really good at this place, even the neighborhood is very calm. the fish was big but delicious. i would rate this restaurant with 5 stars also for the prices that are right

Been wanting to step in here for a while but always been hurrying to one shop or another on Northcote. Today had an absolute hankering for fish and chips. Absolutely delicious. Superbly crispy and generous reasonably priced portion. Lovely friendly owners as well. Oh and refreshing, beautifully kept super bock beer on tap. Perfect. Will find it hard to wait this long for the next visits.

A great family restaurant, has been serving the public for decades. Very fresh and well cooked fish. Small area inside for dining in, serves soft drinks and alcohol including cocktails. Outside seating available too

Definitely the best fish & chips I've had locally in Clapham. Good size portions, cod was just right, lovely batter and chips were well cooked. Calamari was also excellent. Been struggling to find a really good chippy around Clapham so I'm glad I've found this place. I'll be back for sure!

Friendly staff and quick service. The fish and chips was nice but the portions of regular cod and chips seemed on the small side, particularly considering the £9 price tag for the fish alone. So perhaps order more if you're hungry.

We were staying in Clapham, not far from the station. So just before 7pm on a Friday I headed to the Sea Fare fish shop on Northcote Rd. We ordered a large piece of battered cod (£1 extra but enough for two), large chips and mushy peas. It came to £14.50. We had more than enough chips - the standard serve would have been adequate. I managed to get the food back to the flat at an edible temperature, but we had the oven going just in case. We enjoyed our meal. Clearly Friday was a popular night for fish in these parts.

Great food, and very friendly staff, always with a smile and helpful. Lost 1 star because it is often closed randomly and not noted on their door or even online, and several times we have gone only to discover it's closed. But when it is open the chips are delicious!

My wife and I love coming here and we both agree that it's the best plaice for fish and chips!!! The hospitality here is absolutely incredible. The best in Battersea!!!

Well I was recommended this place by a friend what a shock , didn’t realise they didn’t like me so much , ordered 2x regular cod and chips . the so called cod was like two fish fingers in size end to end this was a regular size I know things are bad but this was a joke . Counterbalanced with lots of chips , and to top it all fish was ammonia smelling which ended in the bin All for the pricey some £20.40 , unfortunately the is common standard today hence no Customers at 6 pm on a Friday should have used my instincts. , sorry sea fare , just not fare

Amazing experience at Sea Fare - thank you guys. It was the best sized portion of Fish & Chips I've come across in London so far and the most tasty by a long shot. My partner and I also enjoyed the selection of draft beers and cocktails on offer (amazing prices for London!)

Really shocked how disappointing it was. Such an amazing selection of restaurants on Northcote Road. Unsurprisingly, it was the only place we could get a table... now I can see why. Halloumi wasn’t worth eating, and grease dripped down my fingers. Scampi was okay. Chips were soggy and hard at the same time- quite an achievement! Calamari was a rubber band, covered with dirty, old oil. Only allowed one ketchup sachet between 4 people. And the grand finale was a long black hair in a portion of chips. Shocking

Charming waiter who kindly organised a fantastic seating arrangement for my friends and I on Sunday. Recommend the blue sangria.... really it’s great! Will be trying to the food shortly and will provide an update!

One of the best chippie's in South London. For me, it's between Sea Fare Fish Bar and Ken's Fish Bar in Dulwich. They're both really superb. Great quality produce. Perfectly cooked.

Went there on a recommendation from a friend and wasn’t disappointed. Had the cod n chips. The fish was light and fluffy as was the batter. Not very greasy for fish n chips either. Would go back again.

Very generous portion of fish which is fresh and fried just right. Very friendly people running the shop.

Family-run, clean chip shop (with dining inside). Friendly. Good food and portion sizes. Happy for me to visit with the dog (we sit outside the front, but that's fine, it's under an awning, so you're protected if it rains. This is why go back again and again!

It's always hard in London to find a decent chippy especially when you're missing your seaside home town! Fortunately, the Sea fare nails it! The owners are really lovely and am so happy this place is still going strong after being on the Northcote Rd for many years. We always get take out but the seating area inside looks really nice.

As a long relocated northerner, I’ve constantly scoured London for decent fish & chips over the last two decades. Occasionally stumbling across a decent chippy only to find it goes off a short while after opening. This chippy has apparently been around for some time, and having visited today I can say without doubt that these are the best fish, chips & mushy peas in the whole of the capital! Brilliant!

Really love this local fish and chip shop. Lovely kind owners, easy going and gentle. The food is great. Very fresh I read a few other reviews that said there weren't many chips - that really surprises me. I've lived here 20 years, and every time I go there I berate myself for not remembering how huge their chip portions are and I end up eating too many!

When in London I really like to have at least one Fish&Chips meal. I stumbled across this unpretentious Northcote place and was pleasantly surprised. Since the food is prepared fresh it takes a while to get it out of the kitchen. What came to the table was a perfectly cooked cod with excellent batter, however their version of French Fries isn't just cutting it: Too soggy and limp for my taste, other peole seem to see it differently. Overall a good place to stop for lunch when in the area.

Lugar muy agradable y buen pescado y patatas fritas. Pero en un esfuerzo por estafa a la gente y ahorrar centavos toman las botellas y la salsa HP, etc. heinz y verter en paradas knock barato cata extraño en ellos. Arruinó la comida ya que sabía horrible y las botellas son viejos y fuera de fecha. El vinagre también estaba aguado. ¿Por qué hacer esto cuando tienes buen pescado y patatas fritas y gente de calidad sólo quiere añadir a la comida con los lados. Intentaremos llevar y utilizar marcas en casa. Esto es una práctica ilegal.

Order before you go otherwise it's about a 15 min wait . As I say good Fish and Chips , Chips a little on the small side but good quality . As I say not cheap but you get what you pay for

I've been here a few times for proper fish and chips (and curry sauce!) I really like it, portions are big and the fish is high quality. It's not fancy but thats just the way I like fish and chips! And they're 'proper' chips too....

Stopped off at the chippy for some fish n chips to find both my wife and I having a box full of inedible chips. The fish was ok but for nearly a tenner each you would except the chips to be at least CHIPS. Saying...

Sólo tuvimos una comida fantástica en el mar Bar Pescado en Northcote Rd. Tenemos la intención de tener una comida aquí algunas veces y no nos decepcionó. Lo que hizo el stand lugar era el ambiente, la decoración extraordinaria y el servicio es muy atento desde el camarero.

We've just had a lunchtime take away from here. Two large cod and chips for just shy of 20 pounds. It took a while (~15 mins) to freshly prepare it but it was really not worth the wait. The chips were not great , mostly bits and there were not enough of them for a normal portion let alone large. The "large" cod whilst being long was thin and mostly skin in under cooked and somewhat soggy batter. Given the other reviews here are completely different to our experience I can only think that maybe this place has different set ups for lunch and dinner or we were very unlucky. We rang the owner to complain and he was very reasonable and did offer a partial refund. However we won't be going back here and its impossible for us to recommend Sea Fare based on this experience.

This was an ordinary chippy & when it closed for a refurb a couple of years ago I feared it would be lost to another Northcote Road chain. It's completely rewritten the rule book, if you want your usual traditional chips shop take away then take it away but if you want a sit down then come on in. Fab fresh fish & chips cooked to order. A small but good selection of fish including fresh rock which is a treat. A generous portion of chips (not fries!!) mushy peas. Light crispy batter, a selection of starters also available. We treated ourselves to a bottle of prossecco (£15 excellent price for Northcote Road) Couldn't fault anything. The service, the cleanliness & the food were all fantastic. Will most definitely be returning. There was a family with young children behind us & the owner came out after their meal & let the children choose from a selection of sweets in a jar which was so kind & thoughtful of her.

Before the refurb this was a very ordinary chip shop, since then it has really upped its game and the fish and chips are amongst the best I've had. Cooked fresh to order the fish is excellent - and the take-away boxes keep your food hot as you walk home. I'd always choose to eat in though. Good luck to the owners who've put such a lot of effort in.

A friend of mine goes here often, and I was pleased to see that this family-run, unpretentious little restaurant serves fish any way you like it--fried, grilled, battered, crumbed... This puts it in a league by itself. Only problem: the air could be fresher, perhaps with a more efficient extractor fan.

This place deserves all the praise it gets, and all the custom too.A super-friendly, family-run (elderly couple and their two sons) take away or eat-in restaurant serving the best fish & chips I know. Really great with children too, the owners are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble.Nice to see that a traditional chippie manages to survive on trendy Northcote Road.

This place has recently had a total refurb. Run by the same people so still as nice as before but now they do coffees and cooked breakfasts. £5.50 for a full English with tea and toast. Really good value, decent breakfast that will set you up for the day.

This family run fish and chip shop has recently been completely refurbished and in keeping with many of the other eateries in the Northcote Road, now has some tables outside in order for you to sit down and enjoy traditional fish and chips. We tried it for the first time since the refurb and I have to say that the quality of both fish and chips is just as good as in the past. We had Plaice and chips and my fish was so big, the chips came on a separate plate! The texture of the fish was wonderful, as was the golden crispy batter. The chips were....perfect. The owners and staff are warm, friendly people, nothing is too much trouble. I hope the locals as well as the 'posh' people continue to support this great little place, where they can appreciate proper London fish and chips - in Battersea.
