Nice atmosphere and decor. Staff very helpful and didn’t judge when my wanted a pint of ice for her wine ! Great selection of beers and wines. Lovely to sit in a bar that wasn’t full of young people. Never been in here for 20 years. Pleasantly surprised. Will definitely return . Thank you

Great looking pub. Great sports bar area but I cannot let go of the terrible atmosphere. Been here more than once and each time the owner has identified himself. Rude black haired girl with tattoos served me and alcoholic owner makes this place very unprofessional and unpleasant. Treats public and staff terribly. Council and union should investigate this place ASAP.

Drank here most days i went out and thought it a real nice pub, prices are decent and staff friendly. Atmosphere usually amicable and there's live train time information for visitors to the town. Also big screen tv that shows sports/racing etc. Little gem of a place really, karaoke or some sort of entertainment going on sometimes including live shows. Nothing but praise for the place, that was until one time when using toilets and putting myself away that i looked up and there in the corner was a camera. "WOW' Being a man it didnt really concern me that much, i meen i dont like the idea of someone filming me shaking my junk or whatever but its notging i'd lose sleep over? Anyway i left the toilet and told the wife about the camera and before i finished telling her she was up and off to check out the ladies and wouldnt you know it, YES, THERE ARE CAMERAS IN THERE. We left looking at the male owner in a different light, he'd been so pleasant all the time id been drinking there and seemed a nice man. Ive been back in there afew times and will remain going but i,m very careful when using toilets, unfortunately my wife wont go in there now, embaressed not knowing if someone has been watching her use toilet. Ive told her not to worry about it and that if someone's doing that, then they have a problem. So although there are alot 9f good points about this place the cameras and where theyre situated is a real concern, i saw no signs advertising the toilets are camera'd up and the story of it stopping people taking drugs just doesnt fly?

I live in Southport and I have been here on numerous occasions, but I visited this place on 12th July with friends, but was denied entry by a man I've never seen before, with an explanation that it was 'full' (on a Tuesday) and there was a private darts function. It wasn't remotely full and Southport locals were obviously being punished due to a parade that happened that afternoon. Wholly unacceptable especially considering they were happy to take their money all day and then took it out on the locals afterwards. Terrible lack of respect.

Came to meet some friends for a catch up only to find the pub was not open at 10 past 12. I checked online and found it definitely was meant to be open by 12 so I’m disappointed. We ended up going to Tavern up the road but would’ve liked to have a few drinks in the beer garden that’s advertised.

Never been to an establishment that have been as generous and attentive as this. The staff were flexible and delivered above expectations. They don’t serve food (apart from pies) but they do serve great drinks with a smile and positive attitude. Will be back here in the future!

My twin brother Stephen and I decided to jump the train down to Southport to visit some of the great pubs to be found in this seaside resort and the first pub we visited was The Monument Pub And Sports Bar which was formally The Hoghton Arms Pub, a really good pub,a great start to our day out. I love the look of this pub,the interior is light and airy, the main room is dominated by a solid wood serving bar, great decor and furnishings, there's even a TV screen which gives times of departing trains from Southport Railway Station across the road which would come in very handy for a quick pint before catching your train, there's also plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, all in all a great pub to chill out in . We were here on a Friday early afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name, phone number or email address to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, we then ordered a cider each, payed contactless, ciders were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back, chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our cider's. My cider was really good, a crisp, clear and most importantly iced cold cider that certainly cut through the thirst, very refreshing on a really hot afternoon 😋. These are the type of pubs I love, nice beverages, great staff and a very cosy pub, what more could you ask for. We really enjoyed our cider's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Monument Pub And Sports Bar 🍸 is easy to locate along Hoghton Street, its across the road from Southport Railway Station. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, Midday till Midnight. Friday & Saturday, Midday till 1am. Sunday, Midday till 11.30pm . A great pub 👌 if you're in the area most definitely well worth a visit.

The Monument Pub&Sports Bar Is A Great Pub On Hoghton Street That Has A Decent Range Of Draught Beers And Is Located By Southport Train Station.A Fairly Large Pub With A Multi-Roomed Lay Out With Lots Of Interesting Features Throughout The Pubs Interior And Superb Seating Options. There Are TV Screens Throughout This Pub And A Superb Feature Is A Screen That Shows When The Next Train Is Due.The Last Time We Visited Here This Pub Was Called The Hoghton Arms But The Present Pub Is Far Superior. When We Visited We Gave All Our Track And Trace Details We Sat At One Of The Tables Near The Bar And Ordered Our Beers Which Were A Couple Of Glasses Of Strongebow Brewery Cider That Was Very Well Served And Priced. This Is A Fantastic Pub With Decent Beers'I Think They Offer Staropramen Brewery Beers On Tap Which Is A Rear Find In Southport And If You Are Waiting For Your Train You Shouldn't Miss It With The Electronic Train Screen At The End Of The Bar.All In All A Great Pub And A Pub Well Worth Visiting.Easy To Find From Southport Train Station Its A Minutes Walk To Hoghton Street.(This Is My First Review Of The Monument Pub&Sports Bar). After a stroll we ordered some food. The sausage bap was overcooked burnt. Not the best experience. Which is a shame really.

Waiting for my car to be fixed and needed a beer after a long day working in NHS. Friendly staff and nice choice of local and foreign beers. Love the Parker Brewery from all the food festivals. Will be back again.

Visited this cafe a couple of years back and the food was really good, value for money and the place was clean and well run. To say my lunchtime experience today was different is an understatement. There were lots of tables that had not been cleared it cleaned. I felt sorry for the two young girls who were trying hard to take orders and keep things ticking over. At least 3 tables walked out whilst we were waiting to order. I had a tuna mayonnaise sandwich with cucumber, the cucumber was extra. When the sandwich came it was clearly on value brown bread, a tiny bit of side salad and a teaspoon of coleslaw for £7..95 is not value for money in my eyes! The coffee was good but that was the only positive. Such a shame as this used to be a nice place.

Great pub, I've been going for ages. Nat asked me to do a review, she's very friendly and welcoming, attentive to the customers and works very efficiently. Always has a lovely smile and maintains a great atmosphere.
