I went there for a birthday lunch I was really surprised for the quality of the duck salad. It was amazing. The staff was really attentive and welcoming, from the front door, bar and waitress. Will come back.

Booked a table to have dinner with two friends. Arrived to no greeting at all so had to fight through a lot of people to get to the bar to let them know we had arrived. Seated in an area slightly less loud than the drum and bass going on in the bar area but not a nice environment to eat. We ordered salmon (the smallest piece of fish and potatoes I’ve ever seen), rainbow salad (basically a tiny tiny bowl of slop) and the fish pie hadn’t been ordered at all so our friend had to wait 10 minutes for that to arrive after our food had been served. The service was appalling and we had to get up and walk to the other room to ask for some service. I think if we’d got up and left without paying it would have taken them about 30 minutes to notice. Absolutely awful place and would never eat there again.

On a recent visit to The Moniker on Fenchurch Avenue in London, I found myself surrounded by an atmosphere that held promise. The venue itself is well-designed, offering a good environment that could have set the stage for a pleasant dining and drinking experience. Unfortunately, the reality of the service and offerings fell short of expectations. One of the first issues encountered was the slow service. Despite the welcoming ambiance, the delay in receiving attention from the staff, let alone the arrival of our orders, was notably below par. In a city bustling with options where time is of the essence, efficiency in service is not just expected but essential. Moving on to the cocktails, which should have been a highlight at a place priding itself on its bar, the experience was underwhelming. The drinks lacked the sophistication and balance one would look for in a premium establishment. They were not particularly good, failing to deliver on both creativity and taste, which was disappointing for their price point. The food did not redeem the evening either. Described best as subpar, the dishes lacked the flair and quality one anticipates when dining out in London, especially in an area teeming with culinary competition. The offerings were mediocre, not living up to the expectations set by their descriptions or prices. It was a clear mismatch between cost and quality, leaving much to be desired. Given the plethora of dining and drinking options available in the vicinity, The Moniker's offering does not stand up to scrutiny. With so many other venues excelling in both service and culinary delight, it's hard to justify the wait, expense, and overall experience here. For those looking for a memorable night out, my advice would be to explore the other gems that London has to offer.

I'll caveat this review to say the staff were kind, professional, trying to be attentive, yet wholly embarrassed. They were clearly super under-staffed I returned every course. A shocking dinner considering the location and price tag. Nothing put in front of me was edible. It's rare for me to give such a poor rating but this was disappointing on a whole new level

Asahi on tap and tasty nibbles, pork ends, salmon blinis, generally all good. Staff were nice too and it’s a good space for a private party.

I absolutely love this wine bar for food and drink and fast service with a great atmosphere. The staff are always friendly so I keep returning for breakfast lunches and some evenings. I look out for Amina and Harzena as they are very friendly and welcoming and always smiling even when they are very busy. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Molto buono.

A great spot with friendly staff I visited the Moniker, the other day and had a really nice experience. I sat outside and even though the restaurant was busy I felt cosy and unaffected by the hustle and bustle around. I also liked the atmosphere and decor inside. The staff was really nice and approachable and the vegan burger was lovely. It’s a great spot for your lunch break but I’d also visit it in the evening as they have a good selection of food and draft beer. Definitely recommend it.

Fancy bar near the Lloyds building. It was very busy, even on a Wednesday, so I was pretty hopeful. Service was pretty sluggish given that it relies on the work crowd. With the fairly upper end menu I was surprised to see a fish finger sandwich, so I opted for that figuring that if a regular mothers pride and birdseye is clearly brilliant, how good would an elevated £17 version be? Well, just not quite as good. Mostly mayo and lettuce and kind of chewy, just not up to much. Had to ask for the bill twice, but made it out eventually. Not my cup of tea.

Appalling place, staff more concerned with doing anything except serving customers, walked past our table multiple times when our glasses were empty, went out of their way to avoid eye contact. Went to bar to pay bill and just grunted, offered the card machine up for my card, no effort to engage, no explaining of the cost put to me, I asked to see the bill breakdown, they had the absolute cheek to have casually added 12.5% service charge, fair enough if there had been any service, and also added a donation to a charity, albeit a very deserving charity, but no asking me first if I would like to contribute. All in all this place is the worst bar restaurant that I have ever had the misfortune to enter. Stay away unless you find ignorance an attractive day out option

Terrible experience rude staff no service completely uninterested and then out 12.5% service charge on your bill. The lady greeting people should not be in a face to face role. The waiter was surly and uninterested. Terrible will never visit again.

Booked a table weeks in advance of a big game, called up several times (including on the day) to confirm the table was good / in view of a big screen - they said yes. Turn up and only one of the seats are in view of the screen. Staff were, sadly, just a bit dim and had zero interest in trying to help.

I used to use this place a lot before the pandemic and went back for the first time in 3 years. Like many City restaurants they are clearly short of staff but the surprise to me was the food. My friend's burger looked really nice however I had the fish and chips. Without question the smallest piece of fish I've ever seen in a meal particularly at £16.50. I guess that's the way restaurants have to go but I for one will certainly hesitate before returning. Just not worth it

Fantastic, attentive, friendly service. We sat on the tall stools on the outdoor terrace for lunch, overlooking a small square. Fabulous halloumi salad and great fish and chips, buttermilk chicken burgers and Chalkstream trout - all a huge hit. Puddings were delish. Strawberry and Eton mess, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie. Perhaps not the most imaginative but extremely good. The huge frutella jar in the ladies was an amusing touch! (We had three kids with us!) Tasteful decor, can imagine this would be a nice place to come for a drink in the evening.

Delightful first encounter for reservations and completing our request for dinner! First impression is everything and it was the best! Once we entered for our reservation we sat at a window table and we were greeted by our server who made us feel right at home we relaxed and reviewed the menu after a quick study we asked his opinion and we put our order in! Turned out perfect exactly as we were told thank you Giuseppe! The chef was very thoughtful and came to see we appreciated his talents! Yes go dine at “The Monicker” Regards John Wynia

Went to tea at the Ritz and was not impressed. The scones were not good and not really scones. Ch and F&M offer better tea experience. Table setting and chairs were very cramped. Service was just ok.
