Not a place I'd recommend for a roast. Beef was like cardboard. Condiments served in dirty pots, plates cold, roast potatoes sitting in goose fat. As for the decor, I'm speechless. The whole place felt dirty and strange.

cant really rate the food because we didn't get that far with my booking Asked to book a table for the whole family for a birthday and wrote to the restaurant to ask if they could make the bday girl feel special. Also asked if we could sit together and if they had any private-ish space for us to sit. I imagined maybe putting us all together in a corner or something. response was that its our job to make her feel special, not theirs, they don't do private dining or party experiences (not what i requested), and they have no idea how we will be sat on the day because it is 2 weeks away and they dont know until the day how we will be sat. I got a much more enthusiastic repsonse with more detail when whoever it was who was replying wanted to argue back. Obviously more concerned with that than accommodating guests - shame really but there are some other places nearby offering the same kind of thing, but service with a smile and reasonable prices. do yourself a favour and book elsewhere

Been here many times now and, as many have already commented, it's a bit like Marmite; you either love it or hate it. Other than the shabby chic (chit??) decor, you have to focus on the quality and value of the midweek roasts. £4.95 for chicken or beef with roast potatoes that are delicious, broccoli and carrots that are cooked perfectly. Lashings of gravy and plenty of condiments. Lamb slightly more expensive. Ok, so the wine is pretty basic and quite expensive, but hey, when you're only paying £4.95 for a MAIN COURSE, what's the issue - they have to make a margin? Overall, a cracking midweek option in Ware. The grandkids love the food, as do the adults. Long may it continue.

We've been going to the mixer for a few years, but tonight really wasn't up to scratch. I know it's shabby chic, but it looked tired and run down. There was rubbish in the corner where we were in the bar. The main reason we go is for the food. The veggie option for the roast is usually great, but tonight it was Linda McCartney sausages or macaroni cheese. I went for the sausages and explained to the waiter I was vegetarian so could have the butter carrots and Yorkshires. But I wasn't allowed and had to pay extra, even though I was paying the same as the meat. The food was okay, I think the meat eaters enjoyed theirs. They seemed over booked and understaffed. Whilst some of the staff were lovely, the service was not great.

I am 70 years old because l complained the server said d don't call me sweetheart and 8 people just left that table and they were happy, which l doubt. Young people need to understand and adapt to us elderly gentlemen that respect women. I was very offended by her comments and walk out thru embarrassment, I did not expect to be spoken to like that. It’s amazing this place is still open, it’s a grim experience from the first moment of entering, it’s not shabby chic, it’s downright dilapidated. The owner clearly trying to ensure that as little spent on the place as possible; toilets disgusting, each room looking like a crack den with exposed wires and ancient fixtures that would look out of date last century. The owner is nothing short of a disgrace, rude, arrogant and visibly high whilst supposedly managing an event. He has some strange delusion that this is Ibiza and this is 1998 and he’s “where it’s at”, unfortunately he’s not realised it’s 2023 and people expect some sort of standards and that certainly cannot be met here. Ware council really need to look at this place as it’s not fit to host events especially with this individual at the helm. Health and safety and dare I say it, the police would have a field day here. Avoid at all costs and go to one of ware’s many other decent establishments

Shabby, just shabby. No customer service, not enough staff. Table wasn't ready on arrival, fair enough it was fathers day, took drinks to outside court yard. Not very pleasant, broken furniture, dirty glasses, cups and saucers. Told our table was ready after 10 mins. Order, apparently, taken. 1 hr 20 mins, still no food, asked when food might arrive, told more Yorkshires needed to be cooked. Strange, as the table next to us, who arrived 20 minutes after us, were being served their meals. Asked if there was bread or crisps or nuts, anything, we could give the children while waiting, told no! 6 year old grandaughter needed to visit the ladies and remarked how dirty it was. Went to bar as no staff to ask for drinks, nobody at the bar, waited, a young girl goes behind bar, but said unable to serve drinks as only 16! Decided to leave when another table asked where their peas were and were told another 5 mins (That table said rest of their dinner would have been eaten by time peas arrived!) Told a staff member to cancel our order (we don't think our order had actually been processed until we chased 1st time) no apologies, nothing. Left, went to another restaurant, who kindly fitted us in, and served our food within about 40 minutes of arriving, even though also busy, if not busier than The Mixer, served by lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Very disappointed with The Mixer, needs a good clean (I get the shabby chic, but not the lack of care and cleanliness) not enough staff, no customer service whatsoever. The Mixer management need to get their act together.

This was our first visit and I can guarantee will be our last. The food - a midweek roast - was actually ok. However, the cost and range of drinks and the surroundings really lets it down. Upon arrival, we were shown to our table which was literally held together with nails. As I lifted my chair out to sit, the back came off in my hand. It was like they've raided a skip for their dining furniture and had a go at putting it back together with no previous experience. Health and Safety would have a field day. Choice of beers are restricted to a bottle of Estrella (around £5:40) OR a pint of Fosters. Honestly, that is it. Your choice of wine (at around £8:40 a glass!) is 'red', 'white' or 'rose'... no further details, no style or country of origin is known nor provided. The food was adequate (two slices of meat) although some of the roast potatoes seemed raw still. In terms of the decor, I'm really not sure what look they're going for. Let me paint you a picture... you're in Nazi occupied France towards the end of the war and have stumbled into a deserted cafe. There are signs of heavy artillery and the place has clearly borne the brunt of some action. Paint is literally peeling from the walls and most of the furniture is broken and no longer fit for use. Exposed cables are present, what lighting remains is in a poor state of repair, and all of the stair carpet has been crudely ripped up. The accommodation is vast over several levels but because of the conflict, the establishment has seen no signs of use (or a cleaner) for some considerable time. On the upper floors, there are little signs of any footfall, with dirt and broken furniture strewn, the toilet door has been kicked in (presumably after the owner had been found hiding away from invading troops) and the taps are broken. If its not the wartime effect they're looking for, they've nailed the crack den appearance. 👏🏻 Just a few syringes missing. Either way, its a place where you need to wipe your feet on the way out. I honestly couldn't eat and leave quickly enough. There are plenty of other places to eat in Ware and surrounding towns. I strongly recommend you head somewhere else.

I can not complain about the food. However, we visited on Mother's Day, and the service was awful. We sat at our table for 20 minutes before we gave up waiting and got our own menus. Eventually, we got to order, and our food came over an hour later. We had to ask for everything, cutlery, then cutlery for the kids, serving spoons, drinks, the bill (twice). The staff were miserable. Unfortunately, we put a deposit down; otherwise, we would have definitely had left.

I ordered black coffee and got it with caramel on the bottom. Staff said a must said Carmel on the end that is way came with caramel. Very disappointed with the bagel's taste as well. Not fresh as you expect. Spend £9 for both, what a waste of money!!!!!

Went there for a weeknight meal after a walk in the nearby countryside only to be told there is no food being served( despite there website saying otherwise) decided to stay for a drink and wish I hadn't bothered, the beer was awful and smelt strange, the garden is very run down and messy and the landlady was moody, all in all a terrible experience and won't be returning any time soon

We love coming here and the Roast is yummy. Also we love Vicky a lovely lady who always serves us with a smile and nothing is too much trouble she generally cares about her job.
