I think this place is Fantastic, friendly staff, great food for value, it can get busy in peak times and there maybe a wait for food. It is under new management I believe and I think so far considering the negitives backlash this is not a true reflection of the hard work that staff put in. I'll be back here many times too come. Unfortunately you can't please everybody but that's the business.. anyone reading this with the assumption of the negative reviews left that your experience will be the same! please don't. Make your own judgement and try out for yourself I'm sure you will have a positive experience too.

Only shared starters as in a large group having a catch up so can’t vouch for full menu. Service at the bar was excellent and staff very friendly and accommodating

Seen mixed reviews but still popped along for lunch to see for ourselves. Have to say we found it to be very good. Menu is varied and liked the fact they do a lunch menu so many don't. Went for the steak sandwich and a pint both of which were delicious. We'll be back

UPDATED: I have not visited this pub in a while, it used to be a favourite of mine, particularly as they catered well for gluten intolerance. However, that all changed on my recent visit, I see that Chef and Brewer now own it. From arrival I was gobsmacked that they had no allergen advice on the standard menu (save for nut allergy), nothing for gluten intolerance - which is estimated to affect about 1/5 people now. Nothing! So I placed my orders and 'hoped' that they were wheat free, I was instructed to go to their website, but I could not find it with ease. The starter, salmon and salad, turned up... goodness... wilted rocket leaves, brown shavings from the root of what might have been pak choi or artichoke, just the brown rooted butt of the veg sprinkled over it, and dried out pieces of smoked salmon that were a token gesture... the whole thing was bathed in oil in what seemed to me to be an effort to hide how old and dry it was (I presume someone ordered it and sent it back or something) - I ate it because I was famished (not literally). The staff were lovely, truly lovely, nothing to fault there, so I said nothing, and then came a half roast chicken... well... sure, the chicken half was generous, but it came with one carrot, sliced in half, 5 small potatoes that were hardly roasted, a Yorkshire pudding that I could not eat (being gluten free) and gravy that I could not be sure was also gluten / wheat free. Between us was served a single bowl of over-cooked peas and cabbage... I had to order a second pint of Coke to wash down that dry chicken and those terrible 'tatters - it was SO disappointing. Given how abysmal it all was we did not risk dessert, plus, I was just directed online again, and yes, I found something, but the selection was limited, so we passed. And then... the BILL came! You would not believe it was over £70 for two people, starter and main! For WHAT? It was the single worst meal in years that I have had anywhere, but I said nothing, the staff were too sweet, so I paid a tip and we made our way. Personally, I do not know if it was just a bad day or a general experience of others, but I will avoid going here again, it was truly, thoroughly disappointing. The response from my feedback submission to Chef & Brewer was 'meh', they honestly could not care less, completely dismissing my feedback.

Moved to this area just over 2years .. found this little gem of a pub by chance beautiful setting lovely big garden for nice meal,and few drinks on a sunny afternoon.... had my first meal yesterday served by Sonia lovely lady looked after us.. very well very friendly and welcoming ... food was good however pie could do with some meat in it as it was mostly pastry ... she had ploughman's lunch .. a wasn't impressed by this at £21.99 ..little bit of sausage roll 2 wee wat bits of cheese gherkins cut up into 4 pieces stuck at corners.. of plate looked like a packet of crisps in middle of plate to fill it up .. way water cress on top .. so just needs tweaking here n there .. came away feeling a needed some meat when a got home to make up fir pie 🥧 .. still all definitely go back but all choose my food btr nxt time .. hope your not offered just my point of view definitely by back and ad still recommend this lovely pub to anyone ...

I had a great experience at the 3 horseshoes , all the staff were very friendly and made me feel right at home . Especially the tall blonde man behind the bar . He was great .

Stopped in on the off chance on a Saturday evening. They were able to squeeze 3 of us in and we were not disappointed. Food was great and service from Kerry was fantastic. So glad to see the establishment reopened.

Very nice location and lots of seating are outside. Service was good. The food was very disappointing. The seasoning of my food was not good and the chicken was so dry and bland. I had to leave some behind. Portions were ok.

Since reopening in 2024 this was our first visit. Will be our last. Ordered food at 2.15 pm. At 2.45pm asked a waitress if she could let us know how long we would have to wait for our food. At 3.25 pm still nothing. No sign or response from the waitress we had asked. So we took a refund and left. An utter shambles of a pub. There had been no warning of long wait times upon ordering and paying. There was no apology from the manager when issuing the refund. Seems like no one cares. So we drove up to the Nag's Head in Bishop's Stortford, ordered our meal and was served piping hot food 8 mins later. We won't be back and certainly won't be recommending it to anyone who asks.

10/10 lovely staff. Amey in particular was amazing the girl deserves a raise. Great food.

Been here a couple of times, and the food hasn’t been great. Went for a Sunday dinner, roughly around 6pm 11/08/24 and was extremely poor, the beef was just a single slither, most of it was fat, shared a cauliflower cheese with a friend, unfortunately the portion sizes of this wasn’t great, and one of us went without. Veg was dry and seemed like it had just been sat under a heat lamp, and the roast potato’s completely rock solid. Friend ordered pork, and had to ask where the crackling was, the lady told him she didn't think it came with his meal, even though it does state this on the menu. Overall we Just felt like it was coming to the end of their peak service and we got the scraps. Gave it another go a few weeks later for lunch, ciabatta sandwiches were ok. Chips came with this but cold and slightly under done. found a particular lady serving us wasn’t interested in serving a ‘young’ group of friends and literally just placed the food down anywhere without saying anything which I found strange, so we all had to swap around, no check back from this waitress, so no sauces offered/salt pepper and had to go in and chase up cutlery for sides ordered. I will be back for drinks as the setting is gorgeous, and has a great location to watch the planes and enjoy the garden. however on the food front this will be given a miss in future. Really hope this is all rectified moving forward as it is a nice venue aesthetically and has so much potential.

The place is beautifully done. Looks and feels cosy and it's pleasing to be there. Kitchen meltdown best described our experience. Took 55 mins to bring the food and half hour the deserts. Tasted pretty average but one will eat anything if they are hungry. Portions are small. Will wait for a new chef then try again.

A lot of mixed reviews and I knew what this restaurant was like before the revamp. My experience was amazing. I went with my family and we had such a lovely time. The decor is tasteful and upmarket. Everything was clean and tidy, staff were well dressed. The food ordered was amazing and I could not fault any of the meals we ordered. The wait was appropriate, given that when I went it was packed. Sonia was our host from start to finish and nothing was too much for her. A big thank you to all the staff for turning this restaurant around. Lots of people will read reviews and my suggestion to you is, book a table and just go have your own experience. Give feedback openly to the staff, if they don’t know they can’t change it ☺️

Seen a lot of mixed reviews but my experience was amazing. I knew what this restaurant was like before the revamp and I am so happy that it has improved and massively. The atmosphere is great, very welcoming and the decor is tasteful. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food all round was amazing and there were 4 of us that night. I can’t fault it at all. Well done to all the staff for their hard work to bring this lovely restaurant back to what we all know and love. Sonia served us from start to finish, nothing was too much for her. My advice to new people wanting to try, just book a table and go. Have your own experience not someone else’s experience through reviews.

Today me and my husband met lovely natasha and her brilliant staff . The newly decorated resturant is gorgeous. Sunday lunch roast sirloin of beef excellent and portion size good . Service first class .parking and table availability good . See you next Sunday lol 😆. Perfect meal x

Food similar to processed frozen meals from the supermarket. The two youngest members of staff were very friendly, professional and smartly dressed.

Sunday roast was a disgrace . dried out veg / tiny roast potatoes which you couldn't get a fork into /dried out stuffing which looked like chipboard and the sirloin ( said pink on the menu ) was bits you cut off before slicing. this was the worst roast dinner I have very had.... by a long way . The "stand in " manageress was very good , understood the problem and realised could not defend what was on our plates - offered to take all meals off the bill . We want a good local pub serving good food. We will give it one more try in a few months time only cos the manageress wanted to get things right . My fear is without a different chef it's a no go . Despite being a lovely space . Shame , simple , good food is all it needs.

A warm welcome with friendly and helpful staff. The newly renovated pub looks very nice and the outside patio and garden are lovely. If you’re just having drink - you’re in for a treat! However at present it is all being let down by the kitchen. By the time we left it was evident the front of house staff are somewhat jaded with the negative comments the kitchen is causing. It was not particularly busy, yet around us we heard about long waits for a simple dessert, ‘lost’ / forgotten orders, missing sides that never appeared, more long waits etcetera. Unfortunately we had one of the lost orders so ended up waiting over an hour. When it did arrive - one of the meals was inedible while the others were poor. Not sure what is occurring in the kitchen but it’s sad to see what could be an absolute gem be something you’d see on Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares. The front of house staff were very supportive and helpful in dealing with the food issues. Felt quite sorry for them with so many other disgruntled food customers. Fingers crossed they can sort these kitchen issues.

Heard that this pub was reopened and refurbished. We popped in for a drink and dinner the pub looked amazing initially had a good feeling about the place. Then went down hill quickly looked to me as if there wasn't enough staff. Steak was full of fat, pie was over cooked, Kids pizza is basically a Chicago microwave pizza . They forgot our sides and dips even though I reminded them twice. Still didnt bring them out. Went home leaving overall disappointed, £100 down the drain. Such a shame as it looks like alot of money has been spent to make it look so good. Did complain when paying the bill the staff was professional and appolagetic. No Manager present.

OMG ! The most beautiful place I've seen - the decor is absolutely amazing ! It's huge as well, lots of big and small tables - brilliant for family events. The service was exceptional and the food was really tasty, small portions though 😜 Huge garden at the back - only the planes are disturbing the conversation from time to time as it's near the airport and they fly low there . Overall - I loved it ❤️❤️❤️

This has recently re-opened after a flood, the layout is the same, but it's been nicely decorated and tidied up. Good menu, good service, and comfy. Recommended.

Nicely redecorated premises with ample parking facilities, food was good but one dish had over cooked and inedible mushrooms which was brought to the attention of the server who apologized, agreed and confirmed they were inedible and stated she would get replacements which never arrived. Also unbelievably no Vinegar available for our fish and chips meal! Service was very slow in so much we couldn't be bothered with ordering desserts and after requesting and waiting for the bill for quite a time had to approach the servers station in order to settle the bill and leave. We won't be returning unfortunately.

New refurb looks great. Unfortunately you can't order any food unless you're on the patio. No crisps or nuts. Rude, older lady member of staff. Drinks are pretty expensive

We heard that the pub had re-opened, so decided to visit for my husband's birthday and had pre-booked. We arrived and were seated at our table, at no point were we told or made aware that there was an issue with lack of food. It was left to the poor waitress to tell diners that most of the menu was unavailable, no burgers, chips, steaks, onion rings the list kept getting bigger and bigger as the evening went on (only 7.30 pm). We tried to order a burger, mixed grill, onion rings, only to be told they did not have them or a check would have to be made with the kitchen. After two or three choices being vetoed, we both went for the gammon, egg and fries (chips not available), ordering a drink at the same time. Half an hour later, we still did not have our drink, so my husband went up to the bar and they seemed completely oblivious to the drinks order, we did finally get our drinks a few minutes after that. Our dinner came out a short time after and it was very disappointing, definitely not Instagram worthy. A small piece of chewy gammon, one small overcooked egg and some very sad looking fries with peas. For two cokes, two gammon dinners and some halloumi fries it was just under £40, we did not bother with a dessert as the wait time was ridiculous for service. The tables in the restaurant are very close together in places and we could hear other diners, who were having the same issues as us. A family had come in at roughly the same time as us and had still not received their main when we left (they did not have starters). We still left a tip for the waitress, as I felt so bad for her, she was given the task of telling diners about the lack of food and was constantly backwards and forwards to the kitchen to check what was and wasn't available. If you don't have most of the menu, maybe close the restaurant and put a sign up to explain the reasons why, rather than leave it to your poor staff to take the heat. We were really looking forward to celebrating my husband's birthday at your pub and it was thoroughly disappointing on every level, we could not wait to leave, the food was certainly not worth the money paid.

We heard about the new management and wanted to give another chance to this place as in the past it has been disappointing but we love the building. Unfortunately we were set for another bad experience. We saw a midweek menu on their website and when we asked about it the staff tried to dismiss it. They didn't have half the food on the menu and the only tables in the garden we could have food on were squished next to each other. The service was slow, tables dirty, waiters passing empty handed without picking up anything from the uncleaned tables or the rubbish on the floor. Also sorry to mention but the waitress wasn't dressed too appropriately for a family pub neither. On the positive side, the design team has done a great job with the new interior of the pub. I wouldn't leave 1 star because I appreciate the history of the building too much. Unfortunately, would not return.

Went today with my octogenarian parents for lunch. Wanted to see what the refurb looked like. It looks lovely. However, even though it was a hot day and relatively busy we waited for 90minutes before cancelling our order of a “quick” lunch. On complaining I was told “we have good chefs” I said yep but obviously not enough to which I was told that I was wrong. Not so much of an apology but a very poor excuse. 90 minute wait? Is that acceptable? I shan’t return and I’ve had many a family get together there over the years. Very disappointed

We had a lovely meal at this newly opened pub last night We were served by a friendly, helpful staff member (wearing a turquoise blouse) The food lovely - steak cooked exactly as requested and the garden medley was delicious! It was busy with a lovely family atmosphere.

The reopening of the Three Horseshoes has been long awaited. The new management and staff were welcoming and gave a great service. The decor was smart yet comfortable. Will visit again whilst taking a walk with our doggies along the river, as it's ideally set next to the river.

Wow!! What a transformation. We visited over the weekend and received a very warm welcome. The decor and ambience is amazing and the character of the building remains. The staff were very attentive and we received an excellent service from Tom and his team, mainly Tash, Amey and a lovely waitress, whose name I didn’t get. This is going to be our new go to and looking forward to taking friends this evening to celebrate their official re-opening. Also, garden is great too!

8 of us had dinner hear at the weekend and I have to say the food was very very good accompanied by good service, we can't wait to go back, new head chef is very good

After an extensive refurb and now under new management, the Three Horseshoes has RETURNED for our local community and visitors alike. Tom and Tasha run a tight ship, with an ample car-park, beautifully stylish interiors and a great menu.. which we sampled today. Kerry, Amy and Paula add experience, style and grace to complete a really good team that look after you from the minute you arrive. BRILLIANT job, guys.

They don’t serve food to over 12 garden tables for some petty reason. Dead atmosphere inside. Ok to pop in for a drink if you’re your on a river walk though

lovely garden, nice pub, decent service but really grotty food. ham egg and chips really very disappointing,cold, reheated chips, thin slice of poor quality gammon and a rubbery egg and other dishes ordered pretty poor too. not cheap either. maybe the chef was off or something but a shame.

A good meal enjoyed by all 5 of our party. Nicola was a very friendly, polite and attentive server. Only slight disappointment was the lack of cheesecake. The ribeye was good and really well cooked. Was pretty quiet tonight but that suited us.

Had a lovely early doors meal last night. My steak was cooked as I asked and my husbands mixed grill was huge and he said he “thoroughly enjoyed it “. All the food arrived piping hot and well presented. Our servers Monty and Tom were attentive and cheery. We have been before and we will go again.

Had a very lovely lunch here. Starter of Korean Chicken which has just the right amount of kick and a large portion of olives. For mains we had the Game Mixed Grill and the Sea Bass & Seared Scallops, both meals were perfectly cooked and packed with flavour. Desert was the salted caramel sundae that was very nice apart from the chocolate ice cream which let it down as it tasted cheap compared to the high quality of everything else we ate.

We had a fantastic meal with a family get together of 8 people. The food was amazing and the service too - well done Three Horseshoes.

Great Sunday dinners - amazing slow cooked tender rib beef. Some really nice specials on menu too. Monty served our table well! Will visit again.

The food was very nice... however, the service was virtually non existent.... it was so bad that we ( a party of 10) were only offered drinks once, when we first arrived. We made a complaint, and whilst the manager was trying to sort things out, he kept referring to one of our party as ' my love" ... totally unacceptable and non of our party will ever return... a nice place let down by poorly trained staff....

It is obvious the chef is very talented as all 4 of our dinners where excellent great produce used and prepared with love excellent last minute find after a day out

Went last week, had the specials which were sublime , the manager who served us was friendly and helpful, the chefs food that came out looked amazing tasted great, wait times were a little slow but busy restaurant so expected and worth the wait. Will be visiting again

Service was excellent, good varied menu for the price portion poor had to send food back due to over cooked chicken was returned on a child's meal but excellent observation by staff who replaced the other 2 meals without being asked Family of 6 came

Went there for a family dinner, first up got 2 of the 4 drinks ordered wrong. we ordered a meat mixed grill, they had run out of, but didn’t warn us or take them off the special board, so while the rest of table order food we then chose the seafood mixed grill….. which we were then told that had run out. The starters ,one meal was a main menu item and was bland and half the meal was left, the othe was a special item a sharing garlic loaf, garlic only touched the middle of the loaf basically warm bread. Then comes the mains dishes, kids pasta was swimming in pasta water still, rib beef roast came with raw broccoli and had 4 potatoes that didn’t need cutting as so small and the chicken dish was so dry and tough we sent it back. Decided not to order any more and leave, then seemed to drive in to the middle what looked like a drug deal taking place. Poor experience all round

Foods ok the still waiting for my money back from being charged the wrong bill tried getting hold of the manager when spoken to him he said he will sort it all for me this was on the 18/09. Still waiting for my refund from the 26/08. Poor customer service and the directing manager hadn’t even bothered to call and update me like he said he would on the Monday. Be wary when paying for your bill there.

Was an absolute cracking night, food was 12/10 and come out hot, the atmosphere was very enjoyable and the prices aren't to bad either. If you are ever in the area l (or not) pass by, you won't be disappointed.

Impromptu lunch visit on a hot Saturday, didn’t seem to busy but the kitchen couldn’t cope and suspended orders for at least half hour. When ordered delivery was reasonable, and the food good. Not the pubs fault but a local farmer had covered his field with manure and the neighbourhood stank something chronic! We were hungry so put up with it.

Lovely pub. Great venue prices etc, but they do not take cash! I personally am offended by this practice! I just moved local but they won’t be seeing a penny of me or anyone I knows money. What a shame!!

Kitchen closes early. Walked 45 min to get here. Rang to check on the way. Friendly "Claire" the robot assured us kitchen closed at 9, same as Google. Got there and bar man said yes, doing food. Then went to speak to kitchen and came back to tell us no...they've finished early. Disappointing but icing on cake when said can we order a delivery they told us we couldn't eat it. Even tho they knew we walked 45 min and would buy drinks. Noone in pub to disturb. Apparently the managers don't like it. I guess they hoped to shut the pub early.

We popped by after a walk along the river last Saturday. When we arrived we ordered food and drinks. Food was good and bought out in a good time and was satisfactory. We ordered deserts. After at least 25mins of waiting we asked where they were. They are on their way we were told, 5mins later the coffee and small desert arrived the other 3 deserts arrived one by one a few mins apart. No apology. When we went to pay we were told the kitchen forgot about out deserts thats why we had the long wait. No discount offered. Shocking. We wont return

A bit disappointed, we tried the pub today and we weren't that impressed by the food. My wife tried the vegetable Wellington and I had the signature burger, Wellington the pastry was a bit hard, potatoes that came with it a bit undercooked and my burger need salt and pepper, staff friendly and the pub is nice to visit for a pint.

Two of us went for the roast dinners and was mit disappointed omg huge portions hot fresh and all served by the lovely catlin highly recommends
