The Mitre in Kensington and Chelsea

The service has always been great at the Mitre, however, I've been coming once every half-year, roughly, since 2018. They used to have many kid friendly options for their menu, but past 2021 the options were replaced with much larger meals that a child wouldn't want. This became an issue, and past early 2024 I stopped going to the Mitre because of this. Really unhappy with the menu change with this.

We’ve been there in a sunday near Christmas and we enjoyed every minute! Excellent food, excellent service by Sandesh and excellent ambient. Definetely, this is the must place to be in Notting Hill area. I would like to thank Sandesh especially for his service. Congratulations to all the team

Reddy, Namya and the team were really helpful. The food was great and the service on point. We had a Chicken Kyiv, a Double Cheese Burger and roasted veggies, and their were delicious. Would recommend a visit here 100%

A very spacious, beautiful and pleasant place. The food is very well prepared, the main dishes are abundant and good value for money.

Visited twice in recent months and both times went for starters. Some felt overpriced for portion sizes, but the right picks were worth it. Very nice layout with bar-side tables and a restaurant section. Popped in on Boxing Day nor expecting a full menu and service was excellent, sticky toffee pudding hit the spot, and coffee was ok. Good selection of beers.

Had a table booked, arrived and was told we couldn’t have the table because there was a big Christmas party going on so was moved to a small drinks table. Was then told to order immediately because the Christmas party was going to disrupt the kitchen. Half then menu was then unavailable. Would not recommend!

The mitre is such a cosy and amazing place, always busy and such a good crowd. The place is full of life. Served amazing food and drinks when we were there. Will happily return!

Visited the other evening with some friends visiting. Some got the fish and chips which were fine, but they were a lot heavier on the breading than fish. Another got the roasted squash and chickpea salad and added steak which they said was delicious. The interior was beautiful and it had a good atmosphere. If I were to go back I would want to go to attend their quiz night or live music night!

We arrived a little early but were seated. Food was excellent & staff very friendly.

I have been here before and had good experiences on those occasions. This was awful. I was about to book a table through Opentable, saw there were several timeslots available and decided to walk there (we were 10 mins away). Got to the restaurant asked for a table for 3 people, was told absolutely not fully booked and suggested we take one of the high tables near the bar if we wanted drinks. Pointed, not showed us to a table. I said that was strange as I just was about to book and saw several slots. He shrugged it off and waved us to the high top area. Immediately, I whipped out my phone and booked a table on the spot. A different waitress approached and we said we would like to talk to the waiter who just dismissed us and didn't even bother to check their reservations. He didn't seem to want to talk to us so we were led to the worst table in the restaurant by the kitchen (fine if the whole restaurant was booked, it wasn't). We asked if we could move to a table (same size) a we could see, told it was reserved (not one guest arrived for the entire 1.5 hours we were there). Anyway, the waiter who dismissed us came to take our order, I thought it was strange he didn't even acknowledge we were now sitting down for dinner and I said we managed to get a table. He then started arguing with us! He then told us there was a huge wait time on food, we said fine and ordered wine and olives. Food is whipped out less than 10 minutes later. Bland, chicken and lukewarm vegetables served in a separated sauce. No one during our time there asked us how the food was, more wine. The bill came delivered by a different waiter and we asked for service to be removed (first time ever in London). The rude waiter brought it this time saying he was about take it off himself. We left, half laughing at how bad the experience was. I would avoid eating here and stop off for a drink at the most. The building and interior is lovely.

Wow the place looks so different from when my mum and dad used to run this pub when I was a baby. Was just wondering if you guys knew of the goat that lived in the garden?? It used to attack people and escape and attack people haha

I was there tonight once again see are going often as one of the neighborhood pubs ….. food was good as always on their standard menu ! We requested the bill …. They brought it…. We gave them majority in cash and the second person requested to pay the rest with card….. they took the cash they came back with the machine and …. While holding the cash in their hand they charged the second person the full bill ! We asked them why and they said sorry …. It is a mistake while still being paid through the card and holding the cash without returning them ….. then they returned them back upon request and said sorry was a mistake and left ! I complained to the manager and said …. Oh this is ok …. We will return them to you and do all transactions again splitter …… it is the end of a day and after hard full day working we go there to relax and enjoy after a hard busy exhausting day is over and I do not want to redo transactions when my uber is waiting outside! I said no worries and go and the manager we stopped my colleague to accuse us of bad manners and we made the waitress to cry that we have to feel bad! I walked back to talk to this manager and he said to me to exit and that we do not have the right to complain and to walk away! ….. so people as a result this personal can abuse you and take your money twice ….. cash and card ….. and have the guts to tell you …. You paid the bill we got your money….. we ruin your evening and end of week relaxation …. That is your target abuse you and Now Go OUT ……You do not know how to treat tired people who works on hospitality! So the really hard working people since 7:00 am to almost 19:00 pm can be abused and it is a normal mistake …… you do not have the right to express your complain or frustration and you are also a used after being paid and attempt to be charged twice! Cash and card! Food for thinking ! Also as an advise to the owners …. Please be aware to your property and the people you put in charge! They have to represent your value and store with correctness and politeness… not rudeness and abuse of their power! All this happened tonight less than an hour ago! Please be careful when you walk in this pub your relaxation and happiness might twist in a very regretful and sad experience while you are going there to finish your week with friend relax and enjoy … spending your money and investing your hour happy time with your friends! Your reply is unacceptable and untrue ! The unreal and frustrating presence of events is totally trying to cover the unprofessional behavior and attitude and is twisting events accusing hard working people who are repeatedly using your services for many years without having any issues ever before! This new potential manager that was in duty last Friday evening had certainly a rude attitude since and even prior to the event of us being charged double through the card machine and holding the cash on their hands. We are working in provisional services too and we are aware that dealing with certain issues can be difficult sometimes but this is not justified the behavior of this person accusing us and through us literally out by even hands gestures and smiling in our faces after getting our money and ruining our reputation to cover his personally incompetence and unprofessionalism. This is ruining the values and moral standards of this pub and owners just to cover his behavior and using an event of frustration and misleading people’s understanding of how the events really took place! There is my colleague’s witness in this event while taking place and facts are not the way are described in your response! It is a pity that such incident can damage and ruin the really good intentions of your hard working personnel !

We had our work Christmas diner here. It was splendid. The atmosphere and staff were excellent - thanks Parveen! His attention to our table although he was clearly very busy was first class customer service. All 22 of us were impressed with the quality of the food. Great time had!

First time back at the mitre in probably 2 years. Definitely been a change in management, and not for the better. The food was ok at best, used to be miles better and the service wasn’t great either. Had to wait 45 minutes after our plates were collected to get a desert menu. This was at a time, one of the best roasts in London, safe to say I won’t be returning.

The Food was delicious and the ambiance was great. Prachi and colleagues were very kind. Only the temperature was a little bit to hot.

Good experience overall - atmosphere was great, service was good not outstanding. Very limited selection/options of both beers and ciders. Sticky Toffee Pudding was really good. I would recommend this place for large groups as they have quite nice and cozy set ups to host them. Location is perfect.

Always a really cosy place to meet friends and family. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the food is a perfect pairing for drinks.

A really excellent pub with a wonderful and well priced wine list, exceptional Sunday roast which as promised, comes with all the trimmings and excellent value for money. The service is always friendly, efficient and welcoming and they do their upmost to accommodate any four legged friends! I love this place and would highly recommend for a roast next to the open fire amongst the jovial atmosphere.

The ambience was nice and the place was well located. The food was pretty average with a lot left to desire in flavour. The service was also quite slow but that may have been by design.

Waited maybe 20 minutes before deciding to go to bar and order our food and drinks as no one approached table to take our order. Waited a further 20minutes in hope for our two soft drinks to be delivered to our table after ordering at the bar. Four tables in restaurant in total, and two of them were served meals and drinks all while we still waited to be served our soft drinks. The two tables that were served both food and drinks before us, were the two tables seated after us too. Gave up and went to bar to collect the soft drinks myself . Slow service. Inattentive. Seems the quieter it is the slower the service. Starters arrived 30-35 minutes after ordering. (Chicken skewers and bread) Mains arrived 20minutes after starters were cleared (2 chicken Kyiv ) Food was nice but definitely didn’t make up for the wait. If we hadn’t been so hungry we would have left at the point we seen the two tables arriving after us being served their food and drinks.

Went for Sunday lunch with family. Quality of food and service was good, as were the surroundings.Good value for money. Would happily go back

Although not bigger on the inside like the Tardis, it's still pretty roomy with loads of comfortable seating. However, on Thursday, a bitter November day, we seemed to walk into next month. A warm pub with an open fire, Christmas trees, and subtle festive decorations. The server was cheery, and a punter at the bar was friendly and jovial. An hour later, there was even what looked like a large pre-Chistmas gathering around the bar. We accepted the kind offer of drinks brought to our fire-side table, and so our departure was happily delayed. My friend and I are looking forward to another visit soon.

This was a great place, especially if you want more gastro pub style experience. The layout was great spacious but still had a cozy feel. The food was amazing the chicken skewers and trout salad had such an amazing balance of flavours. The wine selection was good and reasonable prices and a good selection of by the glass options as well. Fair prices for the area and would likely be a treat place I'd go back to.

Sunday Roast review 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 If you’re looking for a pub that serves up a Sunday Roast hearty enough to fuel a journey through prehistory, look no further than The Mitre in Notting Hill. Ahead of our trip to the Natural History Museum, I brought my girlfriend and an esteemed guest visiting from Manila to the mighty Mitre, and we were treated to a meal that was practically an exhibit in itself. We tucked into a roast that could have kept a woolly mammoth satisfied, with generous portions of pork, lamb, and chicken, each more succulent than the last. The roast potatoes were so golden, crisp, and satisfyingly hard, one may have forgiven Darwin himself for mislabelling them as fossilised amber. And the trimmings? Think Jurassic-scale portions of veg, Yorkshire puddings the size of your head, and lashings of gravy flowing like lava. A special shoutout to Namya, our waitress, who deserves a place in the Mitre’s Hall of Fame. She swooped in with our food faster than a pterodactyl, always with a smile and a talent for anticipating every need before we even had to ask. A tremendous experience all round, even for my archeologist girlfriend who has a tremendous knack for somehow always digging up the past!

Great restaurant, vegan roast was my first and it was a great gateway into future vegan roasts! The Camembert starter was delicious. Our waiter, Sandesh was incredibly attentive, would highly recommend!

The place was buzzing on a Sunday afternoon. Their Sunday roast was great; all of the traditional components cooked really well. Fish and chips were spot on, too. Generous size portions, too. Selection of fresh beers, including nonalcoholic Guinness Zero. Service was very friendly. Pleasant atmosphere with a stylish deco and a central fireplace. Seating was comfy with soft chairs and a soft wall bench.

Great mains but don’t order the sourdough… kinda wasn’t that good. Overall cute 🫶

We had Sunday roast, smoked trout and fish and chips. Everything was delicious! Service was also very good, a huge improvement from my last visits. They were all very attentive and made extra effort to make our evening pleasant. Special thanks to Adelin our very lovely waiter who looked after us and our pooch and Prachi who also helped us towards the end. Desserts were also 10/10.
