Called out of curiosity, and the need for a drink on a hot day. We ordered lunch fish and chips. The fish was huge! Staff are friendly, and helpful. The place is well set out, much bigger I side than you imagine with a function room just off the bar and a pleasant area outside with tables with umbrella's and plenty of seating.

Absolutely fabulous pub. We had Sunday lunch which was hand carved carvery, all fresh veg.... superb. We sat both inside & in the gorgeous garden. The owners & staff were so friendly. It's spotlessly clean. We will definitely return. What a great find!

The pub was really well decorated, the food was quite wonderful but a little on the small side. However, the Sunday roast was tasty to say the least. The local customers were friendly too.

What can I say, if you want a hearty roast dinner with a choice of meats or have them all, get yourselves here, the pudding was also on point. P.s go hungry 😋

Sunday carvery will take some beating lovely choice of beef pork and chicken i had a slice of each and plenty of vegetables with lovely Yorkshire puddings

Looked on Google to find some where eat and saw this and gave it a Go . great home made food good sized portions as well nice friendly staff and locals. It was Saturday afternoon and was showing the football but that was ok no probs getting a table highly recommend her if you want a good home cooked meal not mass chain pub grub we had pie of the week (lamb) Thai of the week (chicken +ginger) and a large BBQ chicken baguette and chips all great value

What a great pub with amazing food! We stumbled onto it by accident and ended up having one the best fish and chips in my life. Very good prices (about £10 for a massive portion of F&C) and a lovely garden. Would return in a heartbeat.

We went to listen to the live bands and theiving magpies. It was very good. Nice burger as well

Excellent service & lovely beer garden with very comfortable seating. Social distancing is practised by everyone. Superb fish & chips take away every Friday & Sunday roast on Sunday (of course). Well worth a visit.

We popped in for Sunday lunch after a morning at The Wildlife park which is under 3 miles away. Phoned to book just incase which was no issue, we preordered our meals at the same time. If you are looking for a well cooked tasty meal then this is the one, large portions of fresh home cooked food in friendly covid safe surroundings 😊

Home from home pub and very good food and price. Always go there when in Cumbria for our Sunday lunch.

Last week we were staying in the very interesting village of Nenthead and visited The Miners Arms for an evening meal. Our first consideration, was it dog friendly. We were greeted warmly and as the place was full of locals the atmosphere was friendly too.The menu was limited but was the type of homely, warming food that is just right after a day walking the fells.We chose chicken and leek pie. It was a good large saucer sized pie made with shortcrust pastry and full of good quality chicken and delicious gravy. It was served with fresh vegetables. Ruby, our boxer was offered biscuits and water.We chose one bread and butter pudding with custard for dessert, but with two spoons!! We really couldn’t eat anymore, but bread and butter pudding.......well, you just have to, don’t you? Thank you to you all at The Miners Arms, you’re a great team.

Just been for our saturday evening vist and lovely food as usual, we try to go iften when at our caravan and its is all cooked fresh. Highly recommended

Stopped here twice now as an overnight for the Coast2Coast cycle route. This isn't a five star hotel but gets 5 stars for what it is ... a really comfortable pub with great food and friendly service. Rooms are clean and comfortable finished to a very good standard. The pub part is a good place to relax after a hard days riding and the staff are very friendly. I didn't expect such high standard food. It's pub grub menu but definitely a cut above the usual. I've been in some renowned London restaurants that weren't as memorable. The fillet steak was delicious and the desert fantastic both times. The place is bike friendly, has a a lovely aspect to catch the last of the days sun when sitting outside and is right next door to a fantastic bike repair shop to boot. Highly recommended for anyone riding, walking, visiting this area.

My friends and I had lunch recently at this lovely pub, they made the booking. We were made very welcome and the surroundings were comfortable and warm which was lovely as we were all soaking wet from the rain. Food was delicious, choice was adequate in my opinion as this was a lunchtime menu and I find a big choice on the menu can be very offputting. I couldn't find fault with either the atmosphere, hospitality or the quality of the food.

My friend and I recently had dinner here and were very impressed by the food. Good local quality items and a nice selection of vegetarian options (I recommend the halloumi burger, delicious!) it’s a very cosy and pleasant looking places with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Stopped off here with the family on the way back home following a week in The Lakes. Very welcoming landlord (Stuart I think) & warm & cosy atmosphere. Food was excellent & the portions were good size. Extremely good value. The pub was quite busy for a Thursday afternoon which was a good sign. Chips like my mum used to make with real potatoes! Delicious. If we're ever back in the area in future we won't hesitate to return. Kids loved it too. Roast dinner from the childrens menu was a hit! Thanks.

Just had the best fish pie of the specials menu that i have had in z ling time. Various fish, prawns and scallops and best of all for me No salmon. came with cauli/ broccoli and carrotts all fresh and i choose sweet potato fries, alas forgot a picture.

Very pleased and shall certainly visit again.

We called for an early doors and stayed for two, the Golden Plover was that good. We didn't eat so unable to comment on the food.

Stopped here for an evening meal last Sunday (struggling to find anywhere open) and was very impressed with the quality of the food, the drinks, the friendly staff and the very reasonable prices. Highly recommended if visiting this remote location.

It was ok. Seemed a nice little pub. Only in there 1/2 hour So, not a lot to say really.

Stayed here in July whilst doing the Coast2Coast cycling route. Rooms were great, bikes could be locked up safely in a room round the back and the hospitality was superb. Food was class, good set of beers, locals were good chat whilst watching the World Cup and they even did some laundry for us. Food is all home made (cheese cake is outstanding) and overall very good value for money with breakfast included.

Husband and I walked 2 mile road to visit this establishment. I can truthfully say we were not disappointed, service was friendly and very efficient and our food was extremely tasty. This bar has been in the same family for 30 years! We asked regarding taxi and our lovely hostess said her nice would take us back to where we are staying. An amazing dinning experience with Service on a superior level. Many thanks, highly recommend to anyone who is in this lovely area.

Best sunday carvery I have had 4 a long time

My husband and I stayed here while walking the Issac tea trail. Fantastic friendly staff. Great food and good sized portions. The rooms were spotless and the bathrooms amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone.
