Lovely food, excellent service from the staff. Decent price

This used to be one of the best restaurants in the area - my goodness it's gone downhill recently! Decour looks worn out, and needs updating. Food now is tasteless, insipid. Ignore any four star reviews they are lying. I think the current owners are looking to sell up - at least that's the impression.

Had a meal here 8pm on Saturday night. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food, WOW, was amazing 😱🥰 The chicken and lamb, just melted in your mouth. Will definitely be back.

The experience was incredible, the food is amazing, service is impeccable like always. This was our son’s choice restaurant for his 7th birthday meal. We are always welcomed so kindly and they go out of their way to give us a great experience. Thank you.

Fantastic. Having moved in to the area from Bradford and having experienced a variety of menu’s and quality of food around the country. Finding the taste of Bengal has taken me back to my original experiences of good, quality, well prepared and proportioned spiced dishes, synonymous of Bengal but suggestive as “Indian”. This is not just any “Indian restaurant” food but well considered, individual spiced and flavoured dishes, catering in their menu for all tastes, novice, seasoned, experienced or the experimental. Friendly staff and very generous in their portions I would highly recommend a visit, take away or sit in, local or visiting for an excellent value for money experience. Five stars out of five for me.

This place is all about the food. Good food, but don't expect to be served in a hurry. BYO on alcoholic drinks and alcohol free.

Perfect Sunday night treat. Struggled for choices and thought of how great the reviews have been for here so thought to try it out. So glad we did! Genuinely great food and lovely service. Will defo be my go to takeaway on a Sunday night now!

Really nice Chicken Vindaloo. Patient and generous staff, very accomodating. A license to provide a pint of Cobra would be the icing on the cake. Would recommend!

Just had an amazing meal with my wife. 1st time visiting Taste Of Bengal and we can't speak highly enough of the quality of food and service easily one of if not the best Indian we've had. Will be 100% returning the next time we visit Penrith 10/10

Terrible service, took over an hour to take our order and used various stalling and deflection techniques to delay. When the food came out it was incredibly disappointing, taste of bengal more like "taste of microwave". Do not come.

Lovely takeaway. Really big pieces of chicken in the Korma and Tikka Masala and a lot of it. Very tasty and excellent value for money. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

All the other 1-star reviews are right, the prawn puri was tasteless and the curry was watery and bland. The staff wear uniform that look like it's not been washed in weeks, and the service was poor. The worst curry house I've ever been to, by far. I wish I'd never come here! I can't believe that this place has a rating above 4-star.

Takeaway order ready quickly. Nice choices on menu. We had lamb tikka masala and the Nepalese gorkali chicken. Went to collect and they'd put an extra portion of meat and doubled the naan bread order. Food was tasty and lots of it. Plenty of meat in the curries too. Discount for collection too.

We like the fact that when collecting our Takeaway, it is brought straight from the kitchen and is piping hot. Really tasty curries And the staff are very polite and welcoming.

Not from the area and always find it risky going to a new Indian however this didn't disappoint! Would recommend, everything we ordered was delicious and hot.

The food was not great and the restaurant was empty. Sadly hard to find a decent Indian in Penrith. Won’t be returning - the town is crying out for someone to up there game food wise.

Popped in to order food for takeout and were well looked after with a free can of pop while we waited. Food came out speedily and we barely had time to drink it before were headed home with a piping hot bag of food. We had 3 various curries and a couple of starters all of which were unanimously greatly enjoyed by all. The meats were tender and plentiful and perfectly accompanied by some fluffy rice and delightfully soft and stretchy naan breads with a lovely chew. Great for mopping up the oodles of silky smooth sauces. I only wish I had the opportunity to come more often and not just on my biannual trips to visit family.

Great portions, rich tasty sauces. Swapped in Paneer for the meat options as I'm veggie - no fuss. Highly recommend the Philli Philli if you like spicier dishes.

Lovely food every time we order. Always ready on time for collection. The restaurant itself is nicely set out and it’s always a very warm welcome from the staff.

Staying at centre parcs and the curry was really overpriced, a family member recommended here . We drove out one night for a takeaway and oh my god it was insane!! Guy that runs it couldn’t be nicer, popped us lots of freebies in! The food quality was amazing, the perfect balance of spicy and tasty, really good quality meat (I’m really fussy about chicken quality) and the tikka wasn’t dry! Will be coming back when I stay in Penrith next month

Starters, main and pickle tray was absolutely spot on, service was brilliant as well. Fairly small restaurant so may be worth ringing up for availability before and you should be able to park outside if not plenty of street parking on an evening.

Best takeaway in Penrith. We had family staying tonight and ordered a takeaway tonight. The food was perfectly cooked. Everyone was really happy with what they had. We always go to to taste of bengal because we know we can always guarantee good, tasty food.

Ordered a takeaway tonight (Sat 9 Nov 2024), the set meal for 2 people. I was given a collection time and the food was ready exactly when I arrived at the agreed time. Everything packed well and piping hot when I got home. Every dish was excellent, portions were definitely generous. Loved the Saag Aloo and Chicken Tikka Masala in particular. More importantly, every time I go, the quality is consistently excellent so I have total confidence in taking friends there, whether eating in or ordering a takeout. Team, you prepare great food, I would recommend the restaurant to anyone who likes quality Indian food. James

We went for takeaway and ordered onion bhaji mixed grill starter...chicken madras & chicken jalfrazi.....pillau rice, chicken pakora and garlic and coriander naan......I was blown away by the taste of the onion bhaji, huge serving too.....the curry was spicy and tasty up there with the best I've had....as a person who enjoys a curry at least once a week I know what I'm talking about.....this is a must go for your curry if anywhere nearby

This is the best Indian cuisine restaurant in town, and may be the best restaurant full stop. The take away from here is great, but I always like to sit in as the service is great, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxing. Food is fantastic, had lots of things off the menu, never been disappointed, I suggest looking at the chef's specials as there are some unique dishes on there.

Only good for UK people. Complete restaurant was empty but not allowed to sit and give order. Don't prefer for indians. Very poor service. When we went to restaurant it was empty and he is not taking order and asked us to come back after 35 minutes until other uk people having their food. Shame on restaurant. Definitely not preferring indians to go there.

We pick up a takeaway most Fridays when we are in Penrith. We only order about half an hour before and it's always ready for collection - great service - gorgeous curries - chicken jalfrezi and king prawn achari are amazing and garlic bread is so fresh.

Best Indian in Penrith by far. Never had a bad meal, fantastic food, the flavours and spices are brilliant and service is fantastic. Lovely and friendly. Perfect whether we sit in or takeaway it’s 5 start every time!

We got takeaway while staying in holiday cottage. Absolutely delicious! Lamb Tikka starter was superb. Daughter described the Onion Bhajis as very tasty. Prawn Dhansak just the right consistency. Garlic fried rice - fab. Highly recommended! And we will be back. 😃
