The Milton Inn Hotel in West Dunbartonshire

Very clean and comfortable and the man that did breakfast was very good efficient and friendly would defo recommend this place

Booked into the Milton Inn via booking.com. Advertised a restaurant and bar. When we arrived the owners first statement was "We wont be open late tonight". We arrived at 2.45pm! He said the 'girl will take your money - this turned out to be a very nice lady older than me (I'm 58!,). We used the bar but couldn't have anything to eat as the restaurant was closed and had been for a while. We were asked if we wanted drinks the following afternoon but as we didnt know what time we would arrive back from what we had arranged to do thought it best to say no. We did have breakfast which was very nice as were the staff who served us. We had our meals and drinks at the Abbotsford hotel a 20 minute walk away and would highly recommend them. Wont be staying at the Milton again and would not recommend them.

We were returning home after a week in the highlands and stayed here as a half way point. The lady that checked us in was lovely and the place looked nice and well kept. However, our rooms were not in the main part but in a cottage at the back. This cottage is not fit to be part of a hotel. Every floorboard creaks, every door slams shut. The beds creak and are solid. The shower was tiny. The walls are paper thin. Our room did have a lovely view though. There was nothing in the room to give you information about the place I.e Wi-Fi code, local area, food options (as the restaurant is shut). We booked for the Scottish breakfast which was priced at £6 and it was beautiful!!! I would stay here as long as I was in the main part of the hotel

No es nuestra primera visita aquí, pero no había sido durante unos años. Me registré en internet y dice ser y ser, comida y entretenimiento. Hemos estado aquí varias veces y realmente disfrutamos de la comida, que era razonable y muy agradable junto con karaoke de fin de semana. El ser y ser razonablemente los precios, pero en esta ocasión me pareció habitaciones limpias y adecuadas, pero de moda. El hotel ya no sirven comida (excepto para los desayunos) y sin entretenimiento. Había sólo cuatro de nosotros en el bar y en 9. 45 El camarero nos preguntó si queríamos otra bebida fue cerrando! Tiene una pena que algo tan obviamente equivocado, y por desgracia no regresaremos.

My family and I visited here on Sunday 9th October walked in and got seated no problem just started waiter service and he took our drinks order and then returned and took our order for tea the smothered chicken was delicious followed by crumbling apple pie with cream was excellent definitely worth a visit

I've never stayed as a guest at Milton inn but my parents have stayed many times on their visits.. I've been a fairly regular visitor over the past 20 or so years! I recently held my 40th birthday party there..we all had a great night.. The staff are always so friendly & helpful.. I highly recommend it:-)

Owners manner leaves a lot to be desired. He is Just not cut out to be dealing with the public. Do yourself a favour and ' walk on by ' ! to a restaurant which appreciates your custom.

This place takes uneaten food from plates of people who have left and serve it up to people who have just arrived. Eat here at your peril.

Visited for Sunday lunch. I've been before. Ordered gammon steak which was nice, massive portions. The waitress was lovely and the service was vastly improved. My family's food was all good and very well priced. Worth a visit now that service has improved.

Extremely unhappy after my recent trip to the Milton inn.. Ordered dinner at 6:45 and then had to ask at 7:30 where it was, turned out the chef had lost the ticket.. Ended up cancelling my order after waiting an hour and still not having it.. Embarrassing that they had the audacity to charge us nearly a tenner for 4 soft drinks after us going up to complain and cancel out order.

Went here for friends birthday and it was a party night with 3 course meal and disco, food was really tasty and all food was fresh served nice. With such a large booking all food still came out in a reasonable time. DJ was ok just party songs and some karaoke.

Visited the Milton Inn with my family for an evening meal. Staff were very efficient and friendly. Good value for money as portion sizes were huge. Good choice for vegetarians. Great choice for children too. Good parking facilities and next to A82. I would recommend it!

nice place, local to where my girlfriend lives.We popped in for lunch and I can happily say it was nice well cooked food and the place was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I only used the bar/restaurant but was impressed with the service. The menu was varied and the food was served promptly, the rib eye was excellent. Staff were very cheerful.

The food was good the prices were good what I liked they didn't have portion controlled plates and the staffed checked you were happy

Stayed here for just one night in September 2015. We arrived pretty late evening and found the reception at the bar in the pub. The landlord and bar staff were very friendly and quickly showed us to our rooms. We had booked two single and one double. The room was quite dated but very clean and warm with tea and coffee making facilities. We made our way back to the bar downstairs for a night cap or two . The pub is lovely but it was very very quiet, not very much atmosphere to say it was 10pm on a Friday night. Breakfast was served in the pub the following morning and was absolutely delicious and freshly made to order. I would stay here again if I was passing through. Clean rooms, friendly staff and a great breakfast!

I regularly eat in the Milton inn, never had an issue with the food and the staff are always friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Struggled to decide what I wanted to eat and went for the Chicken Braemar - chicken breast stuffed with haggis in a whisky sauce with boiled potatoes. Fantastic. The size was huge, plate filler. Will pop in again when we come this way. All meals were huge.

Visited here last night for the first time in a couple of years to have dinner. The food was very good and consistent with the last time we were here as was the friendly service. All very reasonably priced, the standard of the decor and cleanliness has remained at a high standard.

Travelling from Uig, Isle of Skye to Lockerbie, we were getting a tad hungry when we came across the Milton Inn. Ordered fish and chips for two and a couple of drinks....under £20, unbelievable! The large portions beat us, we did leave a few chips. Served by a very pleasant waitress. Typical pub food, tasty and excellent value for money.

Staff are always charming and very welcoming, would highly recommend a stay here. Food is lovely. Looking forward to our nextvisit.

The waitresses couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful on arrival. We ordered Fish & Chips for myself and a Steak Pie for my girlfriend. When the food came it looked fantastic and was well presented.... This sadly was the only good thing about it. The fish was tasteless and mushy, chips were cheap frozen chips. My girlfriends Steak Pie was a total disaster, the steak had little taste and the gravy was coloured water. I stay locally and this is one place I'll be avoiding like the plague. Dont waste your money here!!

Our group of 54 booked a 2-course meal with tea/coffee and we were delighted with the quality of the food and friendly service. We were late in arriving due to traffic congestion but were met with warm smiles and the food was freshly cooked and piping hot. It was excellent value for money and in a very convenient location. Our coach had ample room in the car park and overall it was a very pleasant end to our trip.

I have been going to the Milton Inn for years and always ordered the beef fajitas. You can imagine my disappointment when one day I showed up and they were off the menu. Feel so sad because I won't be returning. Ps milton Inn get the fajitas back on the menu

Cosy, welcoming Inn, friendly staff, good choice on menu including lunchtime (12-6pm) menu 2 for under a tenner...food was great, fast service... we'll definitely be back for more.

Had Saturday night dinner here and it was great , Staff very friendly and helpful, Great Value for money with really nice portions the atmosphere was superb and we will definitely be back again soon.

My wife and I had just travelled through blizzard, ice and treacherous weather for 118 or so miles so we were in need of food, warmth and a good pint. We had a very pleasant welcoming from the young lady who served us as it was pretty busy and she did seem alone, she was attentive, polite, courteous and thoughtful throughout the time we were there, the food was lovely, haddock and mushroom stroganoff, hearty a full plate and not wanting dessert as well as worth the money. There was a slight murmur around the room although the severe weather had been the talk of the day so for a Friday night it was quiet, but the staff we could not fault the food was delicious and we will certainly be returning the chicken fajitas

Went with my mum and two children staff were friendly food was nice especially for the money kids meals are great for £1.99 affordable family dinner mums just moved to dumbarton and kept passing and tried other eateries near by which weren't as good and more expensive we will be back and no doubt regulars for food thank you

Went here for a meal and some drinks a few days ago while visiting the area. Food is certainly not cooked fresh and tasted and looked like a microwave meal. No thought was given to the presentation of our meals which was disappointing. The food tastes ok however the whole thing was made worse by the surly attitude of the staff who worked there, we were made to feel like an inconvenience to them and everytime we asked for something there was a roll of the eyes and we almost apologised to her for ruining her loud conversation which was frequently punctuated with some choice language.............classy. Unable to comment on the accommodation as we did not stay. Would not recommend this place to eat as there are better places, priced more reasonably close by.

We visited recently while staying at the local travel lodge and cannot fault the service and food we received. As soon as we walked through the door we were welcomed and made to feel at ease.The food was good quality and tasty. Husband had the pate and the the scampi. I had the prawn cocktail and the salt and pepper chicken. So tasty. Great value and highly recommended.Lovely staff and great food.

Stopped for lunch when passing and pleased with our venue. Great menu and prices and bar prices made this a good treat. Good portion sizes and great quality.Go for the Sea Bass - you will not be disappointed.

Handy place to stop near Dumbarton as its on the main road. the lunchtime prices are cheap with the food being good freshly made.

Stayed here recently and dined in the restaurant a couple of times. Lovely fresh food and great big portions. I would highly recommend the Chicken Enchiladas. Delicious!

Went to this restaurant for dinner with my wife, good menu with variation of food, nice clean place. Presentation of food excellent, good sized portions, no scrimping an all round good tasty meal

Breakfast included in the price of room.Dinner, good choice for vegetarians and fish on menu. Excellent service, friendly staff, made us welcome. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Food fit for a kid not for adults very small portions although very tasty staff nice ...........................
