The Millside Restaurant in West Dorset

This place is a little gem. We were recommended by the hotel we were staying at and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is light and airy and has a good vibe from it. We were greeted and shown to our table and given our menu. A substantial choice from nibbles to starters and the mains choice was great. The service was exceptional and the staff are so friendly making the whole experience fantastic. Please if you do visit Lyme Regis then this restaurant is a must. Also please book in advance like we did to make sure you don’t miss out. Well done the team at Millside we can’t wait to visit you again.

Oh my goodness, what a treat! The service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. The flavours were pure and fabulous. We wished we lived closer but we will back and recommend this gem to you highly. The mussels with coconut and chilli were the best I have had and the lobster exceeded the one I enjoyed in a well known seafood restaurant in Cornwall! Oh and my husband enjoyed his tempura monkfish too Thank you for such a lovely dinner.

Simple the most delicious meal I’ve had in ages! Monkfish for starter was fantastic, mussels for main just wonderful and the most delightfully scrumptious chocolate fondant sweet. Not only was the food delicious, the presentation was spot on, the ambiance perfect and the staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful. Nice to chat to and see the owner, John, so involved tooA great location, fabulous food, brilliant atmosphere and lovely staff; perfect evening and highly recommended

Fabulous food and great service. Open 7 days a week with 2 of them limited food Booking essential because so popular. Owners bend over backwards to help you and also their community. Got to be one of the best places in town for food , dining experience, helpful staff , and appreciative of custom. They have had a tough time the last couple of weeks with staff isolating and car accident etc & they did not close ! but still smiling and working hard to help everyone enjoy their holiday Well done to the millside If I could do 10 stars ⭐️ I would.

This meal and lovely afternoon at The Millside, was the highlight of our holiday dining experiences…. Just absolutely divine!! Staff were great, fabulous to see families welcomed and the little ones catered for like you do in France!!The owner even told us where to get seafood from to take back home with us when our holiday finished - which turned out to be Beer Fisheries (we were actually staying in Beer) that too was amazing. Excellent evening. Lovely and friendly staff and super atmosphere in restaurant. Food was delicious and enjoyed by all in our party. Despite recent closure due to Covid, a member of staff rang in advance to ask if we could move our booking back 15 minutes due to a backlog of tables (which is understandable in the circumstances) and if they were not ready, they would fund a round of drinks. In the end, table was ready on time. We will definitely return-a lovely evening!

We spent an evening dining at The Millside and I cannot recommend it enough. We could see why it won the Restaurant of the Year - the staff were friendly, professional, attentive, and full of recommendations. The location and place itself is beautiful; and the food was fresh and delicious. Book in advance to avoid missing out on this treat!

A superb end to our holiday, restaurant is a seafood lovers delight, especially the sharing ‘fruits de mer’ which amongst other dishes, looked fantastic.On our visit, children had the chicken which had a lovely flavour and they woofed it down. We had the steak which was enormous and perfectly cooked (recommend medium rare). Chocolate fondant for dessert was spot on to finish.There was a very pleasant welcome followed by excellent service, personally looked after by John the owner and other members of the crew.If you’re in Lyme Regis and want a good meal out then Millside come highly recommended.

Delightful restaurant in a quiet quarter of the town. Excellent quality food. Tempura monkfish and scallops to share followed by a dover sole (cooked to perfection) and a rich, spicy (and messy) whole crab in a Singapore sauce.Try a pre-dinner drink at the micro brewery across the way.

Birthday lunch for two. Fantastic setting, great service and spectacular food & wine.Starters of monkfish & escargot, followed by platter for two. Absolutely delicious. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed a relaxing, non-rushed, afternoon.Will definitely be returning soon and thoroughly recommend the Millside.

Excellent seafood. The tempura monkfish and Scallop starters were perfect. We then had the plateau fruit de mer. The lobster and crab were excellent and I loved the smoked mackerel pate. A Great selection of artisan breads accompanied everything and it was tempting to eat too much of them. One small irritation was the size of the table and the chairs were not comfortable. it was difficult to cope with the platter for the seafood. The staff were lovely, attentive and nicely chatty. A great night out.

We were looking forward to coming here but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience! We have been a few times over the years but not with the present owners! To start a rather scruffy lady saw us to our seats she was extremely rude to me!!! The food was nice but to be honest I’ve had slower service in McDonald’s very rushed in and out within an hour and fifteen minutes!! We met a couple who had sat next to us who felt the same! I wouldn’t go back unfortunately.

Had an extremely enjoyable lunch. We went for the seafood platter for two which really was delicious. Really nice setting and great service. Would highly recommend. But you do need to book in advance.

Wow, the food and service here are second to none. We walked the coast path here from Seaton, and called for lunch on the chance there was a table available; so fortunate there was.We were recommended a fabulous house white by the the owner, and we had olives along with monkfish tempura and also breads with oil dips along with a chicken salad.It was so good here we tried to book for a return evening meal but unfortunately it was fully booked for the next 3-4 weeks.This is a must visit place, but you will have to book if you wish to eat in the evening and it’s a gamble that you’ll get in at lunch time without one.One of the best places I’ve eaten.Highly recommended

Had a wonderful seafood meal here. Staff could not have been more helpful. Quality of food was very good and at a reasonable price. Will definitely return.

Told by fellow guests to visit the mill we wandered down and were lucky enough to get a table without a reservation. Seated outside where a local DJ was playing some really great lounge music, we enjoyed some delicious local Brut, and I added some local strawberry infused vodka to mine. In fact we enjoyed three of these.My partner dined on half a lobster which he said was one of the best he's ever had, and I had two starters, beef carpaccio and tempura monkfish. Sides of rocket and triple fried chips.All delicious, beautifully presented in this lovely restaurant.

Having followed this team on instagram since there arrival in Lyme I’ve been looking forward to trying the menu. Finally we were able to get there last night, I wasn’t disappointed. From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely helpful with lots of information about the wine and food on the menu, the place was full but we never felt forgotten. The food was first class with excellent presentation, the fish was amazingly fresh and the steak out of this world. It’s no surprise there winning so many awards!! Plenty of waiting staff so never an issue about waiting. Food was good and the chef catered for my extensive list of intolerances.

This place is so popular and for good reason. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and the food fresh and tasty. I had the tuna steak salad which was huge and perfectly cooked. The only slight downside was that we had the table next to the entrance where people had to sign in for track and trace (this was before restrictions were eased) and it was a tight space and constantly busy. If you want to visit here, book well in advance as the phone was ringing off the hook!

We received the best service and served the best seafood we’ve ever had. The oysters were amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough. You won’t be disappointed. Already planning our next visit.

What can I say?This place is outstanding, food was amazing, the staff were friendly and very attentive. The oysters were simply beautiful, we shared 6 between two of us and they were so good I ordered 3 more!My husband had the T bone steak, which he really enjoyed & was cooked to his liking. I had the lobster which was super yummy.I would eat there again, we can’t wait to come back. This restaurant was the highlight of our weekend.

We had a fantastic meal here in July. The staff are super friendly, the food of an outstanding nature, the setting beautiful - what more could you ask from a restaurant. One of our party ordered mussels and when they were too spicy the kitchen made a new portion without chilli without us asking them to do so. Now that is good service! Highly recommend this restaurant - but book early as unfortunately everyone seems to have discovered this hidden gem down at the town mill.

We decided to visit Lyme Regis for a little pre-Birthday weekend and I was particularly keen that we went somewhere "nice" for Saturday night. Oh,it was lovely!! We love fish and as soon as I saw crab on the menu I was sold.The staff were attentive and friendly and the place had an easy going atmosphere.The place was very clean and tables well spaced. We had oysters and monkfish starter-the oysters in particular were yum. We spent ages then picking thru' crab in the asian sauce-messy but delish!! I tried the local wines for something different, and my hubby had the local IPA. It was so nice to feel like we really had "a meal out"!

Visited Millside for a friends birthday at the end of a holiday. The perfect way to end the trip! Impeccable food matched by the quality, friendly service. A must-visit on any trip to Lyme Regis.

This place is simply great.. from the very moment we turned up, to be greeted by a charming lady who showed us to our seats...whoops.. we had chosen to be seated in the sun....never a problem as it turned out, as within moments 2 chaps appeared with a seriously large parasol which they positioned and weighted without an iota of fuss. The staff were charming and engaging and paid attention to every detail. The menu was sumptuous which made it very difficult to chose..but lordy was it a good choice! Her ladyship chose the Grilled lobster with Roast Garlic & Herb Butter, dressed Salad, Breads, and Skinny Fries...naturally I stole a couple of the fries and they were delicious...really? I hear you ask...you're mentioning Fries..?..well yes... they were totally fresh with a great texture.. Anyway, moving on.. I had the Seared Tuna Loin Steak, it came with Soft Boiled Egg, Caper & Anchovy Emulsion, Green Beans, Cornish Baby Potatoes, Cherry Tomato, Mixed Olives - all pitted - Beetroot Reduction and Fresh Anchovies .. I have listed all the ingredients here because, I cannot remember when a dish has appeared in front of me that actually made say wow!.. great presentation...and the ingredients were as fresh as could be.I don't know who chef actually is, but they need to keep him prisoner, because this really was the best dining experience we have enjoyed for a long time! And naturally dear reader, as you can imagine, the whole thing was delicious...oh yes... I totally forgot about the oysters....Tempura River Teign Oysters to be precise...and they were mouthwatering.Our general impression of the restaurant - we found it airy, inviting and very clean. It got to the point where I was actually looking for faults to report because everything was totally on point, but I found none. ..and there lies the problem... I actually wondered whether to write this review at all, because this place is so good that everyone who reads will want to visit and I'll find it really tricky to get a table next time..! 10/10 in every aspect.

A fantastic seafood lunch for two. Oysters, mussels, scallops, dover soul and tuna all fabulous and with brilliant service too. We enjoyed it all washed down with a delicious Viognier. Highly recommended.

Two trips here during our two weeks in Lyme, one with four friends, for supper. The other just the two of us for lunch. We were blessed by the weather on both occasions, outdoor dining in this delightful courtyard first rate. Too many great dishes to list them all but the escargot are amazing, as are the various pre-starter dishes and the tempuras oysters (incredible), monkfish (divine) and cauliflower (superb). A special mention for the pickled cockles, mussels and beetroot - who’d have thought these three ingredients could produce such a delicate flavour! Mains for supper were a surf ‘n’ turf (put together brilliantly following our request) combination of the lobster and tomahawk steak and the harissa-glazed chicken for lunch. Both spectacular. Add in some excellent local beers and wines, plus the superb staff and owners, and you have a pretty irresistible dining experience.

What a fabulous find tucked away a 3 minute walk from the beach. Nestled by the stream in a sunny and calm space away from the crowds. We ate their twice on a recent weekend visit and were amazed by the wonderful food and friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant and outside terrace were clean and there were nice details. Throws on the outside seats, a nice uniform, quality cutlery. Even their business card was thoughtfully designed. Can't wait to return.

Booked well ahead before our visit to LR and so glad we did. Had a fantastic meal with great local wine - have since bought a case when I got home - cant say enough nice things about this place.

Unbelievable food. Fantastic attentive service. We were a walk in and the team went above and beyond. The staff and owner personally couldn't do enough for us. They explained where all food came from and recommended drinks we really wouldn't drink, but went ahead. Just absolutely superb, will deffo come again when in the area.

A warm sunny evening. A few glasses of chilled white wine from Lyme Bay winery. Fantastic scallops and lobster and then chocolate pudding and a coffee. Very pleasant indeed

Managed to get a table here for lunchtime as all evenings fully booked during our stay. So glad we made it as the food was exceptional. We were waited on by a lovely young lady who was extremely polite and knowledgeable without being overbearing. She was also very good at up- selling in a very subtle way, a credit to the restaurant. We had local g&t's whilst perusing the menu. We explained that my husband has a prawn allergy and were worried about cross contamination. We ordered half a lobster and the hot crab. The waitress checked with the chef who said there could be prawn in the sauce used in the hot crab so we swapped to Dover Sole. We shared both dishes which were amazing. We then had chocolate Fondant with Ice cream and lemon Posset for deserts. All washed down with a fabulous bottle of Rose Wine. A very pleasant way to end our holiday. We didn't feel rushed as the restaurant was preparing for the evening sittings by the time we had finished. A tad expensive but well worth it for a treat. Highly recommended.

This gorgeous restaurant smashed all of our expectations - the vibe, the service and the quality and presentation of the food were all utterly perfect.So refreshing to see interesting menu choices that have been put together with real care and flair.This is by far the most friendly team we’ve experienced in recent times and cannot wait to return ASAP.We’d give 6 stars if we could.

Couldn’t get an evening booking for 4 weeks so opted for a lunchtime, same menu so no problem.Everything was perfect, wide choice, 6 starters, 9 mains etc, young but attentive and happy servers, all food cooked and presented to perfection, must be the best place to eat in Lyme Regis, we all came away happy and replete, we’ll definitely be back but will make sure we book well in advance. Millside is rated as “Excellent” on TripAdvisor by over 90% of reviewers, and we could clearly see why! We eat out quite a bit, and we always try to avoid “chain” restaurants because they’re invariably “just ok” and instead we look for the “independents” like Millside where the food, the service, and the whole experience can often be on another level. Well, Millside was just that. Truly excellent in every way. A lovely warm welcome was followed by friendly and efficient service all evening. The location is perfect, nestled amongst other local shops and eateries, away from the busy streets. The food, first class! We booked a second visit for the last night of our holiday here - it really is *that* good!

The meal was perfect. It's a lovely restaurant, with excellent service and a gorgeous setting. I had carpaccio of beef which was melty and delicious. Then I had the tuna loin salad. Options for vegetarians are limited. It was the most delicious, full, tasty meal I have had in a long time. The salad was incredibly good value at £16, with anchovies, perfectly soft boiled egg, garlic aioli, and the freshest greens you can get. The cheapest white wine was delicious and an appreciated recommendation from the waiter. For pudding I had the chocolate fondant with vanilla bean icecream. It was light, gooey, fabulous. I highly recommend this excellent restaurant and think everyone would enjoy it. Meal for two, three courses each, bottle of wine, glass of dessert wine came to £95. Great value.

We found this restaurant by chance and managed to get a table which had just been cancelled. What luck! Just as I was becoming jaded about standards in restaurants this place restored my faith completely. We had a superb meal. I plumped for two starters which were both equally delicious. The scallops were generous and beautifully cooked and the monkfish was delightful. The sole was also cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The lemon and rhubarb posset was delicious too. Service was relaxed and friendly which made the evening a very happy one. This was truly the best dining experience we have had for some time.

Lunchtime meal, shared fruits de mer, was, frankly stunningly good. Great value, even though not at the budget end of the scale but staff, service and venue could not be faulted. Would recommend but expect a 3 figure bill. Well worth it as a blow out lunch.

We booked a table as we were visiting Lyme Regis as a short break to celebrate a birthday. The food was truly delicious, looking and tasting fabulous. There was a feel of generosity mixed with amazing quality produce, my scallops were huge. Checking out the other dishes being delivered around us we agreed we could happily revisit a number of times to try more on the menu. I think the owners have carefully considered what will give them very satisfied customers. We were very very satisfied customers, treated to wonderful food and warm hospitality ( staff didn’t know it was a birthday treat) but it felt like they did. Bravo to everyone at Millside

Enjoyed a really good meal at Millside. The menu was mostly seafood and we chose the special which was sea bass for two. It was delicious, and plenty for two people. Nevertheless we enjoyed a starter and shared dessert too.The service was good and the ambience pleasant.Recommended.

Totally amazing experience. The food was simply fantastic, good quality, well sized portions and above all extremely tasty. I would recommend this dining experience to anyone without hesitation. Definitely try the oysters and the hot cracked crab..!!

We experienced exceptional food and service at Millside on our girls weekend away.The setting of the restaurant on a pretty street, the chairs with individual blankets for outdoor diners, the best patio heaters in the world, fantastic seafood and Gemma who delivered the most brilliant evening of service. We couldn't fault our night out. The wine was great, the food was brilliant, possibly the best mussels I have ever eaten, and the service went way beyond. We will be back.

We had lunch during our break in Lyme Regis and it was the highlight of the weekend! We tried oysters for the first time and had the seafood platter which was outstanding, everything was freshly caught when we asked the waitress. So we would definitely recommend this for couples along with the local white wine which bought from a local shop the next day. Lovely ambience and great location, a real gem!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, it felt very special. I particularly liked the tempura cauliflower starter. Next time I'd try the lobster.

I opted for the Harissa chicken which was beautifully presented and very tasty. A superbly run restaurant which offers delicious food, and first class service. My wife and I always visit Millside when in Lyme Regis and are never disappointed. We visited the restaurant this evening and had a very warm welcome. Everyone was very friendly and service was of a high standard. The food was delicious and the wine suggested was excellent. I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant and would be keen to visit again if we lived locally.

We ordered the seafood platter to share between two, and it did not disappoint. It was one of the best meals we've ever had. Everything was so fresh and good portions too. We had local Lyme Bay wine too, which was recommended and can see why. Very good!The service was fantastic too. Wish we were local so we could come back again and again.Amazing!!!

Forgot sardines in Sardinia, lobster in LA or clams in Corsica. It’s all happening at The Millside at Lyme Regis. Truly a fish and shell fish haven, cooked to perfection. Lobsters, Crab, Dover Sole, Moules galore and all local produce. Run and owned by John , who definitely knows how to serve the best tastiest produce cooked to perfection. You really don’t want to miss out. Well worth a day trip or stay over. ENJOY you lucky diners.

Beautifully located a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the beach, a wonderful place to sit back and chill with a drink and wait for an amazing array of food whilst you watch the world go by. Trendy but not pretentious a lovely destination for a family lunch or evening meal with friends. Wonderfully helpful staff, always made to feel a bit special. The food is always impeccably presented and cooked to a high standard, we have been here a couple of times now and will definitely be returning again soon,Cheers!Mark R

What an amazing restaurant - took my boys for lunch for the Seafood Platter and Tomahawk Steak. The seafood was beautifully presented and delicious. The tomahawk was cooked to perfection.The location next to the Mill is picturesque.The staff were fantastic, friendly and attentive and couldn't do more to make our visit more welcoming - Harry, Gemma, Georgina - thank you.Such a child friendly, home run restaurant ...we will be back! After a particularly average meal last night in one of London's best, I have been prompted to write about a couple of much better recent experiences. One was Millside on a last minute unexpected work trip three weeks ago. The team managed to find a space for us with 2hrs notice when the restaurant was fully booked. We arrived with no expectations, but left totally charmed. I want to say the owners are called John and Georgie (?!), who were unbelievably welcoming and attentive. We were greeted with a beaming smile on arrival and the team could not have been more affable and professional throughout. We didn't know what to expect from the food, but left full, pretty drunk and delighted! A worrying attack of greed hit us, but it enabled us to try all of the steak, lobster, cauliflower, snails etc. All delicious, the cauliflower a particular surprise. You would have to be a lion to finish the steak, but it is tasty generous cut for sure. London is home usually, but Millside is a safe match for some of the better ones up here in honesty, with far better service besides.Keep it up Millside!

We are a group of 6 locals well versed in high end culinary experiences. Service was, on balance, okay but amateurish. The food was not up to expectations. Tempura cauliflower was more suited to the batter from a fish and chip shop with the vegetable seemingly hacked into overly large chunks. The seared tuna was nice with an over abundance of accompanying foliage. The sole was mean and overly attended with olive oil. Not well cooked. The much vaunted 43 ounce tomahawk steak was underwhelming. The serving staff didn’t have a clue as whether it should be for one or two people and looked like a rabbit in the headlights when we asked for plates. The meat was, in the end, tasteless. As a dining experience we collectively decided it wasn’t‘t great. Well meaning but not great. The venue and environment was good. More suitable for tourists who won’t return. We will not return.

Dined at the Millside this evening and my friend and I were in complete agreement that this was one of the best meals we have had in various holidays in recent years. Lovely interior, friendly, efficient and helpful staff and the food was sublime. We decided to dispense with a first course and to share the fruits de mer seafood platter. This was a superb array of lobster, crab, hot smoked salmon, mackerel pate and a pint of prawns served with delicious breads, cucumber mayonnaise and avocado purée. We decided to try the local Lyme Bay white wine which was the perfect accompaniment. For dessert, we both had lemon posset which just like our main course was excellent. It was quite tart which is how I like a dessert to be and the additions of poached rhubarb, ginger crumb and crystallised ginger really complimented the sharpness of the lemon. I loved this meal and recommend it very highly.

Went as a group of four and had a great times . Firstly the service was excellent all the staff were really friendly . Our waiter a young man called Harry was great ! The food choice was good, two of us had the dover sole which was delicious and the chocolate melt in the muffle desert too notch ! We will be back !

Booked a lunch at Millside. Great weather thus we were able to sit outside, which is a delight in itself. We started with a bread board and a really good mix of cockles and beetroot, whilst we drank local beer and sparkling wine. These were all first rate, the cockles dish amazing. First course was snails and beef carpaccio, which were sublime. Mains were lobster and Dover sole., with an excellent rose. The lobster was as good as any I have eaten anywhere in the world, above and beyond that served at the likes of Scott’s of Mayfair. Tasty, perfectly cooked and presented in a way which was easy to eat and ensured all of the meat was accessible. Incredible. The sole was also cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. Desserts were a chocolate fondant and espresso panna cotta, accompanied by a fantastic Muscat. The whole experience was incredible, the staff helpful and knowledgeable, the bill very reasonable given the quality, and quantity, of food and drink consumed. This really is the best restaurant, and overall dining experience, for many miles around. A must if in Dorset, let alone Lyme.

We booked well in advance for lunch with some friends we hadn’t seen in years based on the reputation and reviews for the Millside, we weren’t disappointed.The staff were fantastic, friendly and attentive and couldn’t do enough for us, especially as we had our two year old.The food was amazing, the scallops to die for and the Tomahawk steak out of this world. I can’t recommend the place enough and we will definitely be back!If you’re visiting Lyme Regis you MUST visit the Millside, definitely 10/10, thank you!

We arrived on time except for one of our party who was struggling to park the car and had deposited the other three guests at the restaurant. After 20 mins of frantically trying to park the proprietor offered us her garage which fortunately I did not have to take finding probably the last spot on the roadside while the car parks still had queues.Two of our party tried one oyster. One was an oyster virgin and intends to remain that way after attempting half of it. Yuck! The other member declared his own and half of the other superb. The rest of our meal was sublime. Cooked and presented to perfection except..... the seafood platter which we knew would lack lobster due to no catch that day was also missing the crab and two of the scallops which was meant to replace it, and two oysters included which we had declined. They quickly removed the oysters, and replaced with two more scallops but the crab was not added( we only noticed this as we paid our Bill and remembered). The chunky triple cooked chips which we ordered were not delivered either. Only skinny fries. However the mussels for one of our guests were beautiful. And the fourth member had spatchcock chicken. All the flavours of the food were great. Desserts were beautiful-to look at and eat. A very limited menu although our gluten free guest was catered for but only one dessert choice. Staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. Only criticism is that the tables were too small to accommodate dishes and glasses etc and chairs were u comfortable. All in all though a great meal to end holiday on. Pricey but worth every penny.

Loved our dinner here last Saturday evening, which we booked on the basis of TA reviews. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary so splurged and my husband went for the tomahawk steak and I went for a whole lobster. Both beautifully presented and so tasty, though my husband realised he had got more than he could handle with his huge steak! We also enjoyed our Thai mussels starter which was very flavoursome and served with some excellent bread, although the mussels were rather gritty - probably our mistake for ordering them when there was not an "R" in the month", if that rule has any rationale behind it! I finished off with a cofffee creme brulee which I really didn't need but had to sample their desserts. Again lovely. Needed a walk along the prom afterwards before we got in the car as we were very full! A well run restaurant with great food and a good atmosphere.

We enjoyed lunch at Millside on a rainy day, a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. It is essential to book ahead, as the restaurant is very popular. The welcome, in front and inside the restaurant, was friendly and the setting by the old mill was charming. For our starters we haad Scallops and Mussels. The mussels were particularly delicious with a Thai flavoured broth. For our main courses we enjoyed a Tuna loin steak with a Nicoise Salad and a truly wonderful Singapore Style crab.; both were delicious as were the lemon, ginger and rhubarb desserts.

Went up today for dinner and was not left disappointed, the food was amazing! The staff were the most welcoming I’ve ever had! I really love the place and will become a regular. I can’t recommend highly enough! Big up the staff at this place!👌

Georgina & John did a great job looking after our group of 13 people serving great food in a friendly & efficient atmosphere and the group thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We would be very happy to return there in the future.

We were blown away by the quality of the food and service! Ordered scallops to start, followed by whole Dover sole. All perfectly cooked and hot. Delicious flavours! Really enjoyed the Lyme Bay wine that was recommended by the owner and which was less expensive than the one we originally ordered. Service was excellent and it was reassuring to see staff frequently sanitising hankds. Made to feel welcome and valued, even though it was our first visit there. Thoroughly recommended, but do book well in advance, it's popular and space is obviously more limited at the moment.

A great experience from the minute we arrived (early) for Saturday lunch. All of the dishes were excellent - especially the scallops, mussels and crab cooked ‘Singapore style’. Nice selection of English wines - Lyme Bay Shoreline was exceptional. Highly recommended.

Our first meal in Lyme Regis and first meal out since lockdown ended - what a way to do it!! Fresh seafood, crisp cold wine, lovely atmosphere and such friendly and attentive staff. We had oysters and monkfish tempura to start and then garlic butter lobster and the freshest whole Dover sole for mains. Finished off with a coffee creme caramel. Everything was extremely delicious - we can’t wait to come back. The millside is deservedly very popular so highly recommend anyone visiting Lyme Regis get this place booked in advance so not to be disappointed!

We dined here twice; outside for a lunch in the sun and inside during wet weather. Outside is much more relaxed, as indoors is small, with numerous waiting staff, gets a bit frenetic. The Tomahawk steak is really a sharing dish, or for Desperate Dan; absolutely delicious: as were the mussels cooked in a superp "Thai" type way. A happy team offer a good service.

The Millside restaurant was a real treat! Excellent service from friendly staff. Delicious food, Tempura monk fish starter a winner,all dishes were locally sourced and top quality. We will certainly return. A great evening out, Thank you Millside.

This restaurant is perfectly located within the confines of the Town Mill area and good to pop to the Brewery for a cheeky drink before you visit. There is a range of top notch food on the menu. We nearly went for the Fruits de Mer but got a bit scared with the amount of fish! So we settled on half a lobster with fries and the warm crab dish, preceded by Scallops. The Lobster was one of the highlights of our stay , whilst the crab was perhaps too fiddly to fully enjoy was cooked to perfection and the spicy sauce should be bottled! Great night out, thanks.

We were met with a warm welcome by Georgina and her wonderful staff, a great start to a culinary adventure. How lovely to be back enjoying meals out.Our meal was superb, the ambience just right and I just wished I lived nearer to visit straight again.Didn't think twice, book this restaurant.

We visited Millside following a recommendation from our Lyme Regis hotel and can honestly say it was one of the best small family owned restaurants we have ever been to. The menu was very original. My wife had pan seared tuna loins which were beautifully served on a large wooden platter surrounded by salads and eggs. The tuna was cooked to perfection and looked more like a painting when served. I had Moules served with a delicious Thai green lemon grass sauce, equally delicious. To finish we had their own home made expresso coffee flavoured creme caramel, truly superb. The service was very professional and welcoming and on the way out we were personally thanked by the owner and invited to return next time in Lyme Regis. It was a smallish restaurant, fairly quiet making conversation easy. The prices were very fair and extremely good value for money We cannot wait to return.

This was our first visit to the Millside Restaurant, it had been recommended by friends and although 1 hour 30 mins travelling time it was well worth it. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food delicious. We will certainly be going back again.

came here solo as the place was absolutely BOOKED out for a week. the owners are SUPER kind, and made lots of recommendations. the food was extraordinary and so unique with a tremendous attention to detail - lots of flavours - classic gorgeous devon seafood but with a lot of creativity. had the scallops, the bread (amazing with 3 different oils and 3 different types of bread) and the monkfish/fried in the most gorgeous light batter. Paired with white wine and an espresso type of creme brule - which was again - so unique. Not sure which dish I liked the most so you are going to have to order all of it bc you just cannot go wrong. again - the hospitality and kindness of the owners was super sweet and this place has been their life long dream! HIGHLY recommend. and if they are booked out - go for a 6pm seating .

We have been to Lyme Regis so many times over the past few years, but had no idea that this little slice of paradise existed. Beautiful restaurant, lovely friendly staff and the food.......? To be honest the food had no right, being that good. Worth every penny, and we will be back, soon.

What an amazing meal the outdoor seating was super warm next to the heaters, the owners and staff were so nice and even made me a non-alcoholic gin concoction which I couldn’t get enough of (I’m pregnant and normally the non alcoholic selection is not so good but here they went above and beyond!) Absolutely recommend and will totally be back!

I had the pleasure of the Millside restaurant experience with two amazing hosts John and Georgina . The service and food were exceptional. We had the BEST tomahawk steak I have ever tasted.The location and whole ambience of the restaurant is amazing. I cannot recommend the Millside highly enough .The service by John and Georgina team was brilliant, courteous, friendly and very welcoming.If I could give 6 stars I would , a must visit restaurant.

I would just like to say I have traveled all over the world and eaten in so so many restaurants... The food and hospitality in this restaurant is second to none. I had the Muscles to start, Tomahawk Steak for main and a choc dessert... I cannot fault the food and give it 10/10... The staff and owners are so friendly and can’t do enough for you.... I have recommended this restaurant to so many people so please visit and you won’t be disappointed. Trust me you will return....

I came for a day out to Lyme Regis and found this lovely restaurant. Managed to get a tablet straight away. The waitress staff were brilliant. Over straight away asked if we wanted drinks. Gave my son some colours so he could colour in the the picture from child menu. We ordered mussels for main and half a lobster. The portion sizes were brilliant. Mussels were stunning and the lobster was mouthwatering. My son had prawns which he enjoyed unfortunately he didnt like peeling them but he was happy. Even he had pudding which was lovely. The team and the owner were very friendly and welcoming and made my son feel relaxed.

Best restaurant in Lyme Regis. The food is absolutely delicious. The service excellent. Everyone so friendly. We went with our two children and they also loved it. Highly recommended. My favourite was the ‘Tempura River Teign Oysters’ delicious, totally unmissable. For main we all shared the ‘Fruits de Mer Sharing Platter’ - everything so fresh, tasted and enjoyable- My favourite was the lobster, it was perfectly cooked, crunchy and tasty. If you like good food, do not miss it!

We were in Lyme Regis and the restaurant looks really inviting so we enquired as to whether they could squeeze us in for lunch. We were welcomed in and given a lovely table on the terrace. It was our 21st wedding anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better place to eat. The service was really relaxed and friendly, we had the most delicious fish platter with chips and truffle mayo - gorgeous!Couldn't fault a thing and can't wait to return. Many thanks for a fabulous impromptu lunch.

We went to Millside last year after the first Lockdown & we agreed it was the right place to go for our 3rd wedding anniversary.Luckily we came out of Lockdown just in time.The food is top quality & delicious especially the seafood & tomahawk steak but it's not the only reason we keep going back, the whole team are very attentive especially John and his lovely wife & Georgina. Nothing is too much trouble .They've managed to keep going throughout Covid in some form or other & we believe it is the best restaurant in Lyme.If you want a table at Millside remember to book before you go as they were fully booked 6 weeks ahead .We cant wait to go back sometime soon Sam & Di x

What an amazing meal! So glad we booked a table for lunch as they were turning people away throughout our service. We started with local scallops which were so sweet and tender! The we moved on to the shared seafood platter (£30 a head) which was great value for the quality of the seafood. The highlights for me were the salmon, crab and the mackerel pate - delicious. Friendly, attentive service in a nice setting opposite the river and town mill this is a great place for a long lunch. What I loved was that it wasn’t fussy or pretentious - just great local seafood, beautifully cooked. The music was great too!
