Visited here on Saturday evening, April 13 for a celebratory meal with friends and extended family for my 80th birthday. The starters arrived as planned, but then things started to go wrong. One meal, of scampi, had to be sent back because it was barely warm, a steak which had been ordered to be with a jacket potato came with chips (a jacket potato was eventually provided), and worst of all, my own dinner, Hunters Chicken, never arrived at all. I had to ask three times where my dinner was, and by the time it arrived, some of my friends had already finished theirs. No apology was made when it eventually arrived. I had nothing to do with paying the bill, but was told that the cost of my meal and my drink had been deducted from it. However, what had not been deducted, was the £80 deposit which had been paid when the booking was made. Luckily my friend who paid it at the time of booking, caught sight of the bill and noticed this error, so it was sent back for correction. Had he not done so, the person paying the bill was none the wiser about the deposit, and you would have made a nice big extra profit !The reason we came to The Millstream was because we had a good experience for a birthday celebration last November. This visit was quite the reverse, and it will take a lot of persuading for me to make a return visit.

My Wife and I have been coming to the Millstream for years. Lunch today, was a total disappointment. My Wife ordered a gluten free tuna melt toasted sandwich and I ordered a flat iron steak toasted ciabatta. When the food arrived, I thought the breads looked a little pale. The first bite said it all! My Wife had a tuba and cheese sandwich and I had an un-toasted ciabatta! I spike to two members if Staff, the apologies were at best luke-warm and an offer to toast the breads was declined, as we’d already taken a bite out of them. This is not the first poor meal we’ve had and it’s starting to slightly “pee me off”. Will be a while before I try again I think.

Nice pub started going here because they did good fish and chips. However the price is higher, but the fish is now at least half the size. Sorry even though the burger I had tonight was good my husbands F&C's was poor because they served a fillet so thin it turned to toffee in the fryer, we spoke to the manager and he gave us a discount, but I'm afraid your company has still lost a customer. No problem with staff but Mc Mullens you're blowing your own feet off.

Very disappointed with this restaurant. Pies that need a hammer and chisel to get through the crust, very sparse filling and few skinny chips half a dozen green beans and a bit of chopped greens. Small piece of thin fish again a few skinny chips and a spoonful of peas. Jacket potatoes with chilli, served on a piece of soggy brown paper. A very miserable meal, never again.

Another excellent meal from The Millstream. My husband booked a meal for our anniversary and the food was lovely. I always go for the chicken skewers and the sauce was a lot spicier than usual but it was lovely. The service was excellent. It was service with a smile from our waitress Sarah Stewart.

6 of us met for lunch today and we all throughly enjoyed our meals. Staff were really good, food was hot with decent sized portions. Will definitely be returning.

This is an attractive-looking pub; we were met-and-greeted well and shown to a shabby-chic table. Menu is extensive, although rather chicken and veggie heavy. I had the 7oz steak; it was tiny and really quite chewy. It became quite difficult to get any staff to come to us. Average price £26 for a drink, the steak, a side of vegetables and a coffee. Not impressed.

Beautiful cozy decor. Friendly staff and delicious food. We enjoyed our Sunday roasts very much. The mocha was lovely as well.

We had a lovely meal tonight at the Millstream enjoying starters, mains and a dessert accompanied with a few beers and a cider. All food was excellent, good portions, warm and looked great- empty plates at each course. We loved our server Missy. She was helpful, cheerful and polite. She checked back to ensure we were happy with our food and had a good rapport with all of the tables around us. She is definitely a credit to have on the Millstream team.

This pub used to be one of our good favourites to visit fairly often, but today we were very disappointed. I went with my husband to celebrate a birthday. We ordered Nacho's to share which was less than half the size of our memory using cheap cheese and cooked by chef Mike in the microwave. We were informed that the grill wasn't working so we could have steaks, we chose Sea Bass from the specials menu with which the Hollandaise sauce was split and the vegetables were raw and very heavy on the salt. Also we had chicken & ribs, the chicken was overcooked and quite dry. We thought the service by Sarah was very good but we won't be going back in a hurry.

I’ve not been here for a little while, so I decided to bring my parents here to celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary. They were impressed and we all had a good time together. We all had burgers and they were the best… interesting and tasty options. I love the decor too.

A group of 5 retired bankers (NatWest) frequent this venue regularly for a chat about current banking practice, when compared to the joyous times of yesteryear, pre retirement, reflecting upon how lucky we were! The usual lady server was well known to two of our crew, as they virtually live in the bar..the other three of us are some distance away so I pen this as an 'outsider'. As title, the menu is superior to our Hertfordshire McMullan's..apparently there is some sort of choice to the local publicans..this here is excellent for this type of venue with superior portions and choice. Place usually 'buzzy'..a little quieter today..always welcoming and efficient service. We had many pints and glasses of wine, including three Guinness, 5 main courses..all delicious with plates cleaned..from memory, the special Porky burger with sides, the pie, the super Fish and chips, Spinach Risotto and the chicken skewer. £140.00 including tip..many thanks..we'll call again..cheers

Very busy when we arrived, told meal would be 30 minutes and it arrived in five. Good quality Sunday lunch with tender beef and great veg . Yorkshire pudding was not the best but as I hail From Gods own county only perfection will Suffice. Will. Certainly go again

The only reason I didn't give five stars was: when we arrived I was using a rollator. When the man was deciding where to seat us I pointed this out and he said 'sorry but we have steps here and this wasn't mentioned when booked'. The tone was unmistakablely of annoyance. We considered ourselves told off. I explained it was a day to day thing and today was a bad day so I had to use it. No response, no apology, no acknowledgement that I'd spoken. If it's that important to you then you should ask the question when someone books a table, 'and is anyone in your party disabled?'. It's not difficult. As for steps.... we were shown to a table, not a step in sight. So the attitude was unnecessary, as well as unprofessional and unkind. Not the kind of greeting a customer would expect. Apart from that everything else was great, food, staff, prices. Just a shame the other staff were let down by one person who was in saw me as a problem.

We thought we'd have go at the weekly pub quiz but also fancied a meal out, so booked a table for 6:30pm. Service (our waitress was the charming Kirsty) was good throughout and three of our party took advantage of the "Rib Wednesday" promotion which provided a delicious rack of ribs and a free drink. Buttermilk chicken burger was also really good. Soft drinks were well-presented with plenty of fizz and the McMullens IPA was a fantastic pint. We had time for a dessert (had to be ice-cream sundaes) before the quiz started at 8pm. We didn't cover ourselves in glory when it came to the results, but had a really enjoyable evening and will definitely do it again. Thank you!

We go to this place most Sundays, I usually have Sunday roast beef. The meat and the vegetables are really lovely, gravy has a lovely flavour. The only thing is the roast potatoes, they are nearly always very hard, too over cooked. It's such a shame as roast potatoes is a big part of the dinner. They should be crispy but fluffy inside., shouldn't be too hard to improve the roast potatoes. There was three of us had roasts. One had gammon steak she had a jacket potato with it. and two more had hunters chicken,which had chips with it. The meals were all nicely served by a lovely young lady called Amy. We go here every Sunday when we are all together, we never have puddings as we take it in turns to go to each others houses, that person does a pudding, which works out lovely.

We were travelling to Melton Mowbray from North Hampshire and decided to stop here for food on a Friday night. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was just lovely. A really nice guy showed us to our table, a really lovely young woman took our orders and our food came quickly. The salad which had double pulled chicken and a pita bread was absolutely fantastic and my Husband really enjoyed his macaroni cheese. We were sat near the kitchen and could hear some of the conversation, but not in a bad way - everyone seemed to talk to everyone else with respect and it just seemed remarkably pleasant. In and out within 45 minutes to continue our journey and really glad we stopped here. Would certainly return if we were in the area.

We ate here this evening and were disappointed with the extremely slow service, missing meals and no apologies even the drinks were slow. We were told it was busy but less than half the tables were occupied. I won’t be revisiting.

A birthday celebration: 12 of us enjoyed great lunchtime meals in very pleasant surroundings on a nice sunny Sunday afternoon. Particularly impressed with our young waitress, Amy, who looked after us well whilst enduring the banter that tested her interpersonal skills to the full.
