The Mill at Worston in Stafford

We celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary here last night and I was very impressed with the service we received. We had a side room to ourselves for 20 people, we all had a main meal, which was brought out quickly and was piping hot and very good. The steak pie was delicious). The staff were friendly and attentive and the whole evening ran smoothly due to this. Thank you to the staff for making it so special.

This used to be a lovely pub back in the day, unfortunately declining rapidly. While having friends visit out of area they wanted to try here so we booked a table weeks in advance for 10+ people with children and took them. We were sat in the restaurant with 4 of us crammed between a wall and a table, after an hour of no one coming to order we went to the bar to order drinks and food. Drinks came after being chased up twice but missing a water and a coke. Back to the bar again. Food was ordered and after over 1 hour of chasing for updates again was partially served with meals missing, gammon and rump steaks were rock solid and uncuttable, chips were cold, hunters chicken was all cold and congealed, kids were nearly asleep and 2 guests had already left due to the time yet their meals were served while others were missing. This booking was made weeks in advance but apparently the delays were because they had a function on (very few other customers), if that was the case why book us in to if you knew you couldn’t cope? It took nearly 3 hours just to get mains and drinks. I have never been so EMBARRASSED to take people out, a huge let down and not what it used to be. Get it together Ben.

The Mill greeted me with its lovely staff and beautiful decor. The menu is great, as is the service. Would really recommend coming here

We visited on Saturday and I chose a special from the board. (The most expensive item on the menu) It was a 14oz flatiron steak with a blue cheese, mushroom and thyme crust. I was really looking forward to it and when it arrived it looked delicious.... unfortunately that wasn't the case. The steak was fatty and chewy and inedible. She offered a different dish or to make me another steak. I opted for another steak as I really wanted that meal. My husband ate alone while I waited so I went and ordered a glass of wine at the bar and then I continued to wait. A man removed my husbands finished meal and mine arrived about 5 minutes later. The original server brought it and she said "please let me know how this one is". I never saw a server again, at all.... despite finishing the meal then finishing my wine and going to the loo. I saw her look over, but my plate was left in front of me for at least 10 minutes before we left. It felt like I was being avoided. No follow up, no apology, nothing. Things do go wrong occasionally with food, that's to be expected, it's the way it's handled that leaves an impression. This situation left a bad impression and should have been handled much better. We won't return.

I spoke to the restaurant a few times and ordered seating for 15 only 13 places were available. All the large groups were shoved to the back of the pub in a dilapidated wedding g tent - which had zero atmosphere and zero decoration. The area was run by one waitress to serve 60+ guests. I was not informed at any stage we would not be based on the pub and if I’d have known would have saved myself £270. The cola machine did. Not wark after a while and there was no coffee. It feels like they oversold places to get as much income as possible customer service was limited. This was the second time I’ve been as a family and that time they took an hour to serve us and also had no carvery when we booked a carvery. Thank you for ruining a special birthday! If you want people to eat in that space at the back of the pub please let them know as the quality does not match the other side of the pub.

Attended the fireworks evening. Absolutely brilliant, music from films to accompany them. Food delicious & live singer after. Great night! Well done

Despite coming here occasionallly for 20 years for the odd drink or meal, we attended the Fireworks event for the first time. Over the years we've struggled to find a localish fireworks display that's family friendly, not over priced, without crazy car parking and mad queues or loads of walking involved.....and this year we found it. My family (including 2 children aged 10 and 7) loved it. There was loads to entertain us all for the whole evening and the fireworks were great. We easily found somewhere to stand and watch the display without feeling overcrowded and the kids really enjoyed the disco afterwards. Yes, there was a long queue for the bar and food, but it moved pretty quick and the bars upstairs and out the back were fine. We all had a fab evening and we've already said we'll attend again next year. Oh and here's a compliment from my 7 year old......those fireworks were better than Epcot's (Disney, Florida). Brilliant work guys. 👏

Paid £9 for fireworks for them to last less then 10 minutes, no barbie theme tune even tho it was advertised refused drinks as it was too close to fireworks but they served other people

Booked a table for four people for Sunday lunch. Very nice pub. Drinks on the pricey side (over £5 a pint for Speckled Hen). Queuing for the carvery noticed that everything looked rather dry and not a great variety of food. The Yorkshire puddings were overdone. Very crispy with no soft centre. The cauliflower’cheese’ was very dry and bland. Struggled to cut the cauliflower as it was hard,definitely not aldente.All the food was tasteless. Would not recommend this establishment for a carvery. Cannot comment on the other meals on the menu.

First time visit to The Mill at Worston for Sunday Lunch. Service was excellent from Noah and Imogen nothing was too much trouble. Carvery meal was very nice although they were struggling with the ovens only Roast Beef was available. However they were apologetic and offered a reduction in the overall bill. Such a shame, we are new to the area and thought we would give The Mill a go. Food was very good indeed, but service was not, 2nd bottle of red wine freezing had to ask for a bucket of hot water which turned out to be luke warm water. Empty glasses and plates not cleared. We had to ask for paper napkins as there was only one on the table, was not asked if we wanted sauces so had to ask for tartare sauce as two of us had ordered fish and chips. Just did not seem enough staff just one person doing everything with not much enthusiasm . would normally leave a tip but we did not today. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and had the carvery. It was fabulous! We were served by Tom who was very welcoming and friendly. The beef was so tasty and it melted in your mouth. There was also a good selection of potatoes, roasties and boiled, and plenty of fresh vegetables including a nice cauliflower and broccoli cheese. We also opted for a pudding after; I would highly recommend the white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake! We sat in the bar area as we had our poochy with us; it was lovely and clean and there was a good selection of drinks to choose from. It was nice and busy - a testament to how popular it is here and how highly people must rate it. It was our first visit to The Mill and we will definitely be back!

The carvery is so tasty, the gammon and beef that I had was delicious and Tommy the chef serves a good portion and is very friendly and polite, and so are all the staff. Very nice atmosphere and very clean restaurant, I would highly recommend the Mill. Already been twice and we've booked all the family in for my dads birthday.

We have visited here several times and accept that it a quick cheap night out, however on this occasion the restaurant had two tables of 4 (which we were one), the bar area wasn’t overly busy either. We ordered basic meals and waited well over 50mins for it to arrive after chasing twice (the manager did offer complimentary drinks). The food was ok nothing to shout home about. It was explained they only had one chef available and appeared two waitresses and the Manager, more than enough staff for the amount of customers…come on The Mill, you have been better!

Amazing service and food. We were welcomed immediately but chef Tommy was something else, so kind, courteous and pleasant. An absolute credit to the company, you just don’t get that level of service at most places.

The venue is great with a lot of original characteristics and great outdoor seating. A great choice of food and portions are generouse. You will not be disappointed.

The food here is always excellent, the service quick and friendly. The pub itself is very traditional and homely, the gardens are beautiful and peaceful. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. All in all, always an excellent place to go for food and drinks.
