Overnight stay as a couple in our group had been before and enjoyed. However, after their 2nd stay they would not come again. We were part of the group and thought the standard of cleanliness …particularly in our bathroom (of a ‘signature’ room) was horrendous and totally unacceptable. Mould all around the bath on silicone, dirty stained shower curtain, and mould under the metal bath handles, dirty radiator and skirtings and generally unclean. Whilst dining in the dining room cobwebs and spider over one person in the party’s head! The food was poor, one meal was refunded due to quality. Standard of hygiene needs addressing as a matter of priority

Having stayed at The Mill previously I had no hestitation at booking 2 rooms (party of 4) for 2 nights for my daughter's graduation. Rooms are tastefully decorated. Lovely countryside setting next to canal and lock. My twin room was canal side and I was lucky enough to see two herons fly by. We ate in the busy restaurant and all had delicious mains. The black pudding and chorizo croquettes were particularly nice. The breakfast room overlooks the lock and we had the full English whilst watching a family of swans with their cygnets. As well as cereals, fruits etc breakfast choice is limited to full English/Vegan, or items from. As a 4 star It would have been nice to opt for smoked salmon, avocado or eggs benedict, rather than have the full English 2 days running. All staff were friendly, polite and helpful. I have no problem in recommending The Mill if you need to stay in Lancaster (less than 10 min drive), and would definately stay there again.

This was for 2 graduation celebrations,we had never been before and it had beautiful surroundings. We all looked at menu and 6of is decided fish and chips but we're then told they were out of this.3 people then decided on £8.95 for 1fish cake and £5 chips, which was bland and disappointing except the tartare sauce. My husband had a hamburger and chips, which had no salad or vegetables but was ok,my daughter wasn't well but had a bland and pale soup. One person had chilli flatbread which was nice and enjoyed. The deserts were ok but not worth £8. There was 6 1/2 meals and 4 puddings at £165,service was good and often asked did we want any thing else.We will not be back as not impressed.

3:49 ••ll 4G 10› • Draft saved The restaurant manager was so ignorant as we first approached the bar. The place was pretty empty so he could have been a bit more friendly. The food was very poor. My husband ordered fish and chips The fish was the smallest l've ever seen and the peas were rock hard. I just went for a prawn sandwich with fries. The Prawns were mushed up and no rose marie sauce. Stale bread and really off coleslaw. We were so hungry we ate most of it but should have said something. I did mention to the waitress that we were unhappy and she was lovey named Lara. Manager was stood next to waitress and was just giving me a dirty look. Really unprofessional he should have spoke us and apologized but no very arrogant. We will be telling all friends to avoid here. Shame because it's a beautiful location Title your review Bad food 8/120 max characters

Family of 4. Booked online. Restaurant very clean. Service was extremely slow. We appeared to be the only occupied table. Both waiters looked more interested in talking . rather than serving. Food arrived. Plates were stone cold, meat was cold ( roast dinner) and the vegetables were undercooked. It’s a shame as the meals were well seasoned and tasted beautiful but the whole experience was ruined by cold food. Do the waiters not question the chefs when they come out carrying cold plates?? We would’ve mentioned this however, we felt rushed as it was late and as we were leaving the staff were drinking at the bar.

A lively meal this evening, we had a 2 course with a bottle of wine and no major complaints. The starters, we had chicken parfait which was lovely and one of the best I’ve had for a while. The mains; beef was tender and lovely, so was the Pork Belly, 2 dishes that we would recommend. The Chicken Milanese was okay, but nothing great. We would however avoid the onion rings, they unfortunately weren’t very nice. Portion sizes were good, not too big however not too small, a nice size for a 2 course meal. Staff were lovely, polite and friendly and the place has a relaxed environment which was nice. They were unfortunately out of the 2 different bottles of wine which we wanted, and it would have been good to know prior to us looking at the menu that they didn’t have these. We also weren’t given a drinks menu so had no idea of the beers, drafts and cocktails that they had without asking.

Boxing day meal for a table of 9, Had the set menu 2 courses in which everybody selected something different, The whipped goats cheese was excellent along with the salmon & prawn cocktail. All main courses were well presented and piping hot. Glazed pork belly was crisp but not to fatty. All dessert tasted delicious and would highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding with Waling's ice cream. Well done to Dan and the team for making boxing day lunch such a relaxed meal in a beautiful setting,

Just an all-around superb venue. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly and attentive service and food out the top drawer. I visited with a party of 3 for our work end-of-year reviews and a Christmas lunch. We were able to relax in the bar area to conduct our business and went into the dining rooms for lunch. We ordered from the Christmas menu and between the three of us ended up each ordering different starters/mains/desserts. Everything was of great quality and tasted beautiful, my colleague who is vegan also commented on the good choice and tastiness of her options. Highly recommended for anyone in the Lancaster area.

We booked for a family of 7 to celebrate a birthday. Requested a nice table which we got - lovely place and menu extensive. Kids meals were excellent- fish and chips excellent - the rest had roast of the day ( belly pork) pork was more fat ( i know its a fatty cut) which I think could have been cooked longer and crackling was inedible. It all tasted good but there was a lack of seasonal veg - 1 roast - bit of mash - one parsnip - and 3 little slices of carrot. We ordered deserts which were great. Took 45 mins for the mains to come after ordering - a further 45 mins for desert- a busy Sunday i know but it was a long wait

Relatively quiet when we arrived, we ordered lunch for 5 people, just main courses (vegetarian and fish options), it took the best part of an hour for food to arrive. Guests who arrived after us, received their food before us, when questioned a male member of staff he seemed to have an attitude and just said ‘it’s being plated up’. When the food arrived it was lukewarm, the halloumi kebab which was £18 just had a few pieces of halloumi and peppers (which were clearly from a jar). The fish was oven baked not fried and the veggie wrap had limited vegetables in it. We used to like this place but don’t think we will be visiting again.

The restaurant is lovely, welcoming, tastefully decorated and clean. The staff were friendly & attentive. The starters & puds were great, I highly recommend the Duck Lollipops and my husband loved his chilli beef nachos (which were a special), also the Peach & plum crumble was delicious. Unfortunately the mains let the meal down...my husbands burger looked great but was 2 thin burgers that were both overdone, and I had the Salmon in coriander cream sauce special, the salmon was very overcooked and couldn't taste the coriander at all. My husband left most of his burger (thankfully he'd really enjoyed his nachos starter), I ate all mine because we'd just done a 6 mile walk so I was hungry & we were with friends so I didn't want to make a fuss but I should've sent it back. Our friends had The Mill slow braised beef which looked good & they both really enjoyed it. Pleasant enough but wouldn't return.

We had a lovely evening dining at The Mill last night! Food and service were excellent with friendly and attentive staff. We wanted to come and try out the new menu and it did not disappoint!! Plenty to offer on the new menu for everyone and it was really hard to choose!! We chose to share a cheesy flat bread and the pork and apple sausage roll, both delicious!! The sausage roll was especially nice! Steak burger was cooked beautifully, and my friends had the halloumi kebabs which they loved. I was slightly disappointed that the special crime brûlée was sold out so I had to have sticky toffee pudding of course! Again, it was fab!!! My friends had a chocolate sundae and a crumble and we finished the lot. Very happy with the whole meal and the price including a couple of drinks and a couple of hot drinks was really reasonable at approx £121 for all. I already look forward to coming back to The Mill to try the rest of the summer menu!! Plus as I’m getting married here next year, it reassures me that the food and service is spot and will be perfect for our special day!

We had been wanting to visit here for ages so we were happy when we realised that we could call in for lunch on our way back from a short break. Now I know these are strange times, it was a wet Wednesday lunchtime and we were the only customers so it was a bit cold and lacking in atmosphere which didn't help but at least the food could have made up for it. Unfortunately it didn't, I had the vegetarian hotpot which was very disappointing, it mainly consisted of mushy tasteless potato, it came with a chunk of bread which was very dry and equally tasteless. My husband had the regular hotpot which he said was also not that tasty. These were not cheap dishes and we consider them to be overpriced which we wouldn't have minded if the food had been good. Sorry but we won't be returning.

My husband and I stayed at The Mill at Conder Green on Friday night, 10th Jan. There was a good choice of food, we both had Mushroom Soup with Lancashire bloomer bread and it was delicious, really tasty, it was hot and wholesome. We chose Bowland Beer Battered Fish and Chips for our main and we were not disappointed, it was a sight for sore eyes. The food was arranged on a square plate and the fish stretched from corner to corner with bowls of mushy peas and hand cut chips, it looked great and tasted great, just how I like it, pure white fish and crunchy batter. We cleared our plates and we were so full that we had no room for dessert but again there was plenty to choose from. The next day we had breakfast and we sat at the same table overlooking Lock 6, we watched the swans and admired the country view. We had all the time in the world, no one rushed us. The Mill believe that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” and I agree. The full English breakfast, cooked to order, was fresh, hot and tasty and we had time to enjoy it. Our compliments to the Chef and his staff for such a good start to our day. I particularly liked the service, the staff so attentive, even the manager collecting plates and chatting to the guests when we had finished eating. You don’t usually see that in other hotels. Ten out of ten for going the extra mile and a Gold Star!! Well deserved.

The meal started well with nice marinated olives and the garlic mushrooms. It went downhill at the main course. I ordered beef bourguignon, which if you don’t know is supposed to be beef, braised in red wine with mushrooms and shallots. Served with mash and maybe some carrots. What I got was large chunks of leftover roast beef, which was a dry as sawdust and therefore not braised, sat in a weak gravy with mash, 4 pieces of carrot and some sprouts, which were clearly leftover from Christmas. I won’t be back. If I had wanted to eat leftovers I could have found better in my own fridge. For somewhere with the reputation this place has, this was genuinely pathetic.

The food was excellent, the atmosphere was fantastic yet still intimate, meaning although I shared my lunch with 120 people the room layout was such that we felt we were on our own. Beautifully decorated dining room and bar area made my Christmas. I have to admit I have only once been out for Christmas lunch and having worked in the hospitality industry feel uncomfortable with staff giving up their Christmas Day to do unto others however, Sara and co pulled together like a well oiled machine. Lovely location by the canal. Food is served all day at weekends. They accept card. The food both looks and tastes amazing. The staff were unflappable, friendly and attentive when dealing with the public and a wedding party. They were also really accommodating when asked about vegan food options. Plenty of alcoholic and non alcoholic drink choices. Great food, service and view. We will definitely be back!

We were quite excited to see chorizo with honey as an entree. What a disappointment!! In fact it was terrible. The "chorrizo" appeared to be little pork breakfast sausages. Whatever they were they did not taste of chorizo. They weren't glazed in honey or in a honey sauce or in honey and red wine reduction but rather they were swimming in a watery honey juice.

Used the restaurant as we were booked in for the night. Lovely food, tasteful surroundings and pleasant staff. Just what was needed after a day on the motorway The empty plates say it all!

We visited for a small family reunion, the service was good, we were regularly checked on and given suitable recommendations and any requirements we had (dog and wheelchair access) were dealt with with ease. The food was very tasty, elaborate ‘pub food’ which kept everyone happy!

What a great night! The hotel was buzzing so busy on a lovely summers evening. We were treated to a night of fun and fab food. After Dark provided amazing entertainment, what a laugh! We shared a table with wonderful people all enjoying the fun! I have to say the vegan option I was given was so tasty and so nice. Staff friendly and food served hot and quickly. The cost is amazing worth so much more!! Please arrange another one soon!!!

We are here 2 years ago and it was very good. That certainly wasn’t the case this visit. I requested Salmon when I Booked the time slot. They forgot to put it down. The fish I had was supposed to be oven roasted There was lots of water on my plate That could have been from the wilted spinach not been drained There was very little taste to the meal My friend had fish pie which she said was tasteless the potatoes were very water So the meal was palatable but not much taste, certainly gone down in standards

We were afforded a very warm welcome when we arrived for our evening meal. The Mill is set next to the Lancaster canal and the view from our table was lovely. Excellent and varied choice of menu including many gluten free options. The food was delicious. Thanks to Siobhan and the team. We'll be back tomorrow!

Although not arriving until 8.15pm we had a warm welcome and enjoyed a delightful meal. Extensive menu with a choice that included many Lancashire favourites. Pleasant and attentive staff This visit made us think an extended trip to the area would be a fine idea.

We were a party of 40 arriving, late, by coach, and were welcomed outside the entrance door and provided with friendly speedy service at the bar. The table service of pre-ordered food was by the same staff who looked after the bar and was done with the same efficiency. Difficult to criticise any part of the occasion. After we had eaten we were able to visit the canal and the lock just outside. We would have liked a bit more information about the canal and the lock - but we were really there for the food!

As we were "out and about" I said "let's go somewhere for lunch". Mrs Hezekiah readily agreed and, as it is some years since we visited, we decided upon The Mill at Conder Green. We turned up at about 1:30pm and were greeted by a pleasant lady who showed us to a great table with comfortable seating overlooking the lock on the Glasson arm of the Lancaster Canal. It was fairly quiet although there were a group of 4 and a group of six partway through their meals at other tables. A good lunch menu was presented ranging from light lunches through to three courses supplemented by a page of daily specials. Drinks were served whilst we were perusing the menu and a different lady came back to take our order. We both went for the beer-battered fish, chips and mushy peas. We passed the time whilst these were being cooked people watching as the tow path beside the canal was quite busy (although we did not get a boat coming through). when our lunch arrived it was hot and very tasty. We really enjoyed our meal and both agreed that we will not leave it so long before we return again. At just over £30 for two meals and three drinks (Mrs H had two!) we thought it good value for money.

Having had a meal here four years ago whilst on holiday nearby and had a good experience we were keen to see if anything had changed. Luckily for us, nothing had and we had a delicious meal again. The two members of staff were so friendly and the menu was varied. We both had the fish pie which arrived with seasonal vegetables and the desserts we had were yummy too. The prices are on the high side but was well worth it. A little comment - Same as last time it is a little confusing as to which entrance is for where - maybe because we came in the dark??

This is the first time I have dined here and was enticed by a Murder Mystery evening the other night. It is a modern building with restaurant/ hotel/conference centre/ events facilities. Very nice table decorations by the way. Entertainment was enjoyable. The food is quite well cooked and tasty , main course was a lovely tender blade of beef with mashed potatoes and broccoli ; starter three different toppings en croute were ok but had been pre prepared for some time as the en croute part was not en joyable. The meal ended with rice pudding with jam, sorry not keen at all, not keen on coffee either. Confused access could be a problem for people with mobility problems but there is a lift. Large car park.

We have stayed here quite a few times now and the last time we stayed was especially welcoming. The manageress personally welcomed us and made us feel at home, making sure we were happy with our room. We have just visited again (18/02/2019) just for lunch, and she remembered us, as well as our dogs name. She made such a fuss of the dog and welcomed us back, she even remembered what we ordered last time we visited. We felt so welcomed and appreciated. It’s rare that I feel comfortable in public places but I really felt like I was welcome and The Mill is somewhere I would deffinatley visit again. The staffs attention to detail is phenominal, the dog is always offered water and often gets treated to a sausage and bacon. Overall, friendly and welcoming.

Booked online for half 8 in the evening no problem at all, place is lovely inside, however we were the only ones in the building and they had run out of three things in the menu which was disappointing, the starters were ok but the mains had no flavour at all, a Thai fish stew which didn’t have a any curry spiced flavour to it and very bland and the cod loin was smothered in garlic butter so that’s all I could taste, disappointing for what we paid

Visited the cafe before a trip to the castle. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Lovely atmosphere and cafe was warm and inviting on a cold January day. Coffees were made to perfection, as were the good and cakes. We will definately be back.

We have visited in the past and always been reasonably happy. Today was not a good experience. The bread was stodgy for both the egg mayonnaise baguette and the rarebit. The egg was congealing and the ‘seasonal salad’ was just a mishmash of little bits! So rather expensive at £27.85 for the above plus two traybakes and a small pot of tea. Sadly highly unlikely to return.
