The guy bushing the bar just seemed to be looking for an argument. There were a few others at the bar who I’m assuming were locals were either in on it or they were just used to him so followed along. We drank up quickly and went to another pub. Won’t be retuning as not made to feel welcome at all

The food was really really tasty. Cooked fresh to order.. So it took a bit longer and we were forewarned by the chef so all good. The food we had today gave us as much enjoyment as the food we had at Rick Stein's in Padstow a year or two back. Couldn't fault it. 5 very happy people!

We booked this pub for a one night stay, as it was only an hour away from home. The pub is comfortable, with fireplaces that I’m sure are well used in winter. It’s obviously a well used local pub, with lots of friendly locals. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities available. The landlord and landlady were lovely, making us feel at home. We booked a table for an evening meal, which was absolutely delicious, cooked by the landlady. The pub was busy all Saturday evening with diners, and it was easy to see why. The food was fantastic value… I had the fish, chips and mushy peas (best ever!!) and my husband had the slow cooked lamb rump with fresh vegetables, which he said was amazing. In the morning, the breakfast was just as nice, with cereals, orange juice, full English breakfast and toast. We had a lovely stay here, and would definitely recommend you give it a try.

This traditional pub never fails with its food. Had a roast dinner and it was delicious, just like your mum would make. Stayed here a while ago and was impressed by the landlord and landladys efforts, she especially deserves a mention for her fabulous cooking. Hannah on bar was also a true delight.

Very strange as being unfamiliar with the area we pulled into car park. Pub was open with sign outside saying good food served. Inside there was a table with a small party eating. Nobody at bar or in the bar but a man sat in lounge who told us he couldn’t accommodate us 3 as they had the table in to serve?? Thought that was odd but my poor review is attributed to the fact we asked him if he knew of anywhere local we could get served. He just said we could drive into carnforth and find something, however literally yards away on the left hand side there was another pub The Malt Shovel that WAS serving food. Because of the strange attitude of this pub we tentatively asked if we could come in and if they were serving food which amused the owner who said “of course, it’s a pub”. When we explained we had been turned away from the one up road he understood. Perhaps Mr whoever you were you could have been more helpful and/or closed your doors if you didn’t want more than 10 customers? Would have saved us stopping and parking up!

We stayed here overnight and had dinner before we retired for the night . The room was very clean and the bathroom was huge . Everything we needed, the bed comfortable, and clean. For dinner we both chose steak pie with chips, and this came with peas, carrots and Savoy cabbage. The food was piping hot and delicious . The decor seems a little old fashioned and tired - but apart from that we have no hesitation in recommend this little gem of a place .

Lovely pub in an equally lovely location...however, be sure to ask for receipts for contactless payments. I paid £7.65 for a pint and half and 2 packets of crisps. Next time I went in for just drinks and got charged £7.60, without my glasses I wasn't sure what I had been charged as no receipt was given. Suspecting this was the case I checked my card transactions when I got back to our motorhome and I had been overcharged. I know its only a couple of quid but that's not the point. I'm hoping it was a simple mistake and not just taking advantage of a tourist.

We stayed at the George Washington while on a visit to meet family. As guests there was a provided breakfast which was absolutely delicious and truly almost more than one could eat. We also had the occasion to have dinner there with a large number of family members and the kitchen turned out wonderful meals (Branson chops, rump steak, fish and chips, etc.) all done perfectly. The pub also has a very nice selection of beers and was able to accommodate all mixed drink orders as well. On top of all those attributes the prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. They use all locally sourced foodstuffs and it shows.

We asked if we could have a sandwich but was told ‘No’, as they had been very busy and the cook was now taking a lunch break. My husband and I found this peculiar as we had walked past the pub earlier and there had been no-one there and there was no-one in the pub only me and My husband. Oh my goodness! Having previously been in this pub only to play Darts some yrs ago, my wife and I found this whilst searching for somewhere to dine.We called up just to ensure we did or did not have to book, thankfully one of the ladies said they could fit us in pre-8pm.I had a pint of Beacon, as I quite like Everards, compared to my driv...sorry, wife's cola!We were served by a charming young lady, who even offered to take our food option rather than return to the bar... My wife chose "Saucy Chicken"...mmmm. I decided to opt for the Gammon.Gammon?? This Gammon was the size of a Car Headrest! Talk about huge, it came with a massive portion of Chips, a very well prepped Salad, and 2 giant mushrooms, 2 giant tomatos and beans! All this for well under £15! I have to confess, I couldn't devour it all as it was approaching 9pm and the highlight of the evening.... The Quiz! Complete with said waitress and table service, this turned out to be one of the best meals and evenings I had ever had in this pub. Will be most definately be calling back.... Keep those Pigs-on-tap!

I have frequented this establishment on a number of occasions and have found the service and food to be below par. I came in with my family once and one of my party was unsure what drink to have from the guest ales on offer. Rather than offer an outline of flavours the response from the Landlord was 'Have you mind your mind up yet?' The Landlord kept walking past our table disrupting our ambience in order to throw empty crisp packets into the fire - which then emitted a burnt plastic aroma throughout our area.

In contrast to all the other establishments in Warton and Carnforth this is a very unfriendly pub. I've been visiting over the last 6+ years and that makes no difference. An outsider is an outsider as far as the landlord is concerned. I get the impression they would rather serve 3 locals as opposed to have a full capacity venue.
