The Study Room in Lancaster

Loved this little Lancashire pub with a nice atmosphere, great cocktails including non-alcoholic ones and decent food. They even had gluten free items on the menu which I’m impressed with because I don’t see that too often in pubs.

Popped in for lunch. There was an offer on so we made use of that. Drink and light lunch for a tenner. Food was lovely.

Love this place. Shane about change in menu taking off my favourite chilli beef quesadilla but bigger shame is the chunky chips - what’s happened to them? not very chunky and not crispy like they used to be. Bring back previous chips!! Just constructive comment, better to know and correct than lose custom?

Drinks were cleared away 1 glass was empty but other wasn't finished we were sat there Something you just don't do ..very expensive

This was a nice place to enjoy a drink and food with a friend, but unfortunately the foods not amazingly good, The airy nachos was a little strange to us, the jalapeño poppers were nice and the chicken goujons were a bit over done and bland. Food wise I wouldn't truly recommend it, drinks were nice and loved the atmosphere and decor. I'd definitely return for drinks, I will try the food again one day I'm back and hopefully can change my rating.

Visited with work colleagues. The security staff was friendly & welcoming. The bar staff worked very efficiently minimising waiting time at the bar, which never seemed to be backed up, even tho it was busy. A good evening had by us all.

Really nice, thought it would be less so and that it would be a quick turnover place. But the food came after about 20 mins, nicely prepared and presented. Wife went for three starters (which was an offer) and they came on their own little platter. I went for hunters chicken, was spot on. And we had some bacon fries.

The food was expensive, not good and the service was bellow average, I give it two stars because I like how the place was decorated but that’s about it.

Went in when it was quiet and it was a nice cosy place.

We had the Bottomless Brunch and was not disappointed. The nibbles were lovely and plentiful and a good selection of cocktails. Table was not big enough to accommodate the food and the drink so was a little awkward, but overall a great afternoon and worth £25

Food was OK and staff were friendly and helpful, but... the glasses were absolutely disgustingly dirty!! There was 4 of us, and every single glass was filthy.

Lovely little place perfect for many different relaxed occasions. Staff are wonderful, particularly Isobel who has been fantastic on the occasions I have been there. Attentive, welcoming and happy to help - it is honestly really great to be waited on by such a nice bunch. Value for money is an excellent and communication via Instagram made booking really easy! Came for lunch on Tuesday which The Studyrooms has 40% offer on main dishes and burgers. I ordered Hunters chicken which came with fries, slaw and onion rings. Other order was Fish and chips with mushy peas. Both dishes came after under half hour. The chicken was so juicy and tender, plenty of fries and slaw that I couldn't finish it! Other person loved the fish and chips. Drinks ordered where a small diet coke and medium rosè wine. Total bill was £23 which was great for what we ordered!

Love this place! We were in Lancaster for an evening before travelling up to The Lakes, the perfect place for small groups to socialise and eat some amazing dishes with a wide selection of beer and cocktails.

Enjoyed a lovely meal at The Study Room Lancaster. Food excellent and service couldn’t be better.

Last few times going into the Study Room we have had to ask for CLEAN glasses as the ones given have either had lipstick or greasy smears over them, never used to be like this always nice clean glasses.

First and last time going there. The place is nice and the food and drinks were good. However the staff are rude and snobby especially “the manager” who when we asked for cutlery literally threw it on our table from a distance.

Coffee and a cake deal for £4, ordered 2 cakes, a cappuccino and an americano, coffee came clearly just a shot of espresso topped up with water in the cappuccino tasted literally like dish water and I’m not usually fussy with coffee. Then we were told that our cake was ‘just defrosting’! Waited 5 mins for the cake and when it arrived it was genuinely disgusting and chunky, couldn’t finish either. Girl on the bar was rude and abrupt we’re not the type to complain usually as we both work in hospitality ourselves but this was genuinely a horrible experience and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone visiting / living in Lancaster - Tuesday 5th July 4:20pm

went in for coffee and cake. our cappuccino came, which was a weak americano with some foam on top. who puts water in a cappuccino? two cakes on display must’ve gone stale as the bartender came out and told us she was going to defrost some cakes so they’d be about ten minutes. slightly concerning as you’re most definitely not supposed to defrost cake in the microwave, we did feel ill later but cannot be certain it was down to the cakes. servers were rude, sat at a table on their phones when we arrived and appeared frustrated at us arriving. it’s a shame because we’ve been a few times for drinks before and really enjoyed the drinks and service, would not recommend after this experience.

Rude customer service, my friend is gluten intolerant and when the food arrived, she double checked with our server to make sure the burger was gluten free to which she received the reply "I guess", then put the food down and walked away, which leads me to question their allergen procedures. In addition to this, plates were cleared from our table when we hadn't all finished, and the overall experience means I won't be visiting again.

Very good food and environment. The staff is lovely.

Nice food, good prices for city centre. Food was tasty. Tables a bit sticky and the music was a bit loud, but very clean ladies bathroom.

Much more cosy and sophisticated than other venues on the same street, The Study Room is a lovely place for a nice drink and chat. I've never eaten there, but the food is known for being good value for money. It's on the small side, but attracts a much less boisterous crowd and is much less loud than other bars. Cocktails here are nice, and the prices aren't extortionate either. Lovely place for a chilled drink.

Went for lunch and mocktails today, the food, drinks and service was excellent. The place was very clean and well decorated

The food was brilliant, had the vegan chili dog. Only downside was one of the bar staff was clearly hungover and looked as if they didn't want to be there. Was waiting at the bar whilst they were looking at their phone instead of serving customers. Just seemed unprofessional. The other staff were great however.

Nice place with a modern/student vibe and is popular with students. Decent selection on the taps and in the cocktail menu.

Quiz night...Great fun even if you are of an older generation 😀 great food and the ale was tasty...couldn't ask for anything more.

Clean and tidy and staff helpful

Walked in for lunch but did not eat. The serving staff were all on there phones at the far end of the bar. They didn't notice us at all. After waiting for a minute and making ourselves quite obviously known (still no attention from the phone addled staff) we went to take out own table. Each table we chose had not been cleaned after the previous customers left. Crumbs and liquid were still present. We weren't impressed so left.

Great food, clean only down side music was abit loud couldnt have a conversation properly and noone came and asked how are food was. Apart from that was great definitely go back again.

Nice place to come for something to eat. Food is good, inexpensive and a good menu choice. The staff are friendly and tables are set out well so you're not sat on top of each other... Service is quick and there's sport on the television... All you need really!!!

Very good meal and comfortable surroundings

Disappointing coctails, not mixed properly. Very disappointed as few years ago it was my favourite place for delicious coctails. I hope they will improve, maybe train staff beter or use good quality products.

One of our go to spots, we're pretty sure prices have increased though which puts this on the expensive night out list. The quesadillas are our favourites. Burgers are also something we enjoy but they are on the expensive side.

The grilled chicken in the burger was incredibly dry and the sweet potato fries weren’t crispy and slightly burnt. The service was good though so it wasn’t a complete disaster

Great staff and service. Nice food however we had the king prawn and salmon salad which only came with lettuce and tomato, That's not a salad. No onion or cucumber. Not worth the £10.

We had a party of 10, so we had booked a table a six and table of four. Upon booking we had phoned and requested two tables near each other so we could speak to each other as we hadn’t seen each other all together in person for nearly a year. Although observing government guidance by having two separate tables. Upon arriving they seated us on a table under the heaters. Then the other part of the let arrived and they seated them miles away from us. When a nearby party left, they moved to a table nearby. They were then shouted at by management. Stating did they ask to do this?!?? We advised that we had upon booking. They were told to go back to their own table. Meanwhile there were two tables free one of two and one of four which were available. As two had left the table of two would have been suitable too. The way the manager spoke to us was outrageous, I would not like to think of the way she treats her staff. We then heard her complain about us loudly whilst walking to the toilet which was more than unprofessional. The food and the wait staff were absolutely amazing. Really helpful waiters and the food and drinks are amazing. It’s a shame the management lets this place down. As a result we would not be returning.

Really lovely lunch, with helpful staff and great service. They have a wide range of choices even for those with dietary restrictions. The meal came quickly and was easy to order through the website which reduced unnecessary contact.

Had a burger in here last year with a friend, was pleasantly surprised by the food. A big juicy burger was served by the company and went well with a pint.

Excellent food, 50% off too!!! Vegan options are amazing, staff were also clearly well trained and friendly. We were served by Kerry, who was obliging and an excellent waitress for us. Will definitely be returning very soon.

The food and service was great. The cocktails were hit and miss, the lychee tasted lovely but did seem really weak (thought I could be wrong, it did taste divine), the long island was not good, this is my drink of choice, ordered all over the world, so I know it well, way, way too much lemon, and tasted watered, I think the lemon made the cola flat. I would definitely go back for food and draught drinks or spirits, but found other places did better cocktails.

Good food during the day and pre-covid was always busy in the evenings. Good deals on cocktails and fast service. Pub quiz nights on thursdays are always rammed and very enjoyable

I ordered from here last night with a friend through deliveroo. Menu is very varied so there is something for everyone. You can even get wine and beer with your delivery if you are wanting a bit of a treat The predicted time was in between 50 and 70minutes but I would say it was with us 40 minutes later. The deliveroo delivery price was £4.49. The driver was friendly and placed the food on the floor and then backed away so I could pick it up. We ordered a Catalan buttermilk burger which had chorizo infused with it, normal fries , a meatball sub and beef chilli with nacho cheese loaded fries. The meatball sub had a great infusion of flavours in the meat but I would say there wasnt much tomato sauce which was a shame as you expect a meal like that to be messy. Pimped fries the beef chilli topping was lovely with a kick and I would oc been happy with just a plate of them. The food arrived hot and even the fries were not cold which is a first for me as I usually find them to be when I order them with meals. My meal was £9.50 for the sub and chips and £1.75 for the pimped fries upgrade which I thought was a good price Hdowns guest reviewer - Burger was nice on the whole but the chorizo infusion was all at one end of the burger. Would have it again but not much sauce so needed more of that. Fries were great.

Very attentive staff who were happy to inform us straight away about the on line ordering and the new governments incentive discount which ended up being a £12 discount nearly on a £32 spend, amazing! ( August only ... Monday - Wednesdays) Also, very impressed with the quality of food and a good vegetarian range on the menu, will definitely be going back, loved it!

First time back in The Study Room since it’s opened back up after lockdown and all I can say was it is average and overpriced. We both had Hotdog’s with loaded chips which was £13. The fries were topped with ‘tomato, pepperoni and cheese’ they were watery and topped with two slices of pepperoni and melted plasticy cheese and they were barely warm. The hotdog tasted nice but nothing special, for the price I was expecting it to be heaped with toppings but it was not. One of the hotdogs was topped with ‘crispy chorizo bits’ which was nothing of the sort. It was the texture of sand, grainy and mushy and inedible. The worst part about the meal was the Brie wedges, £5 for 3 small Brie wedges which is totally scandalous. I won’t be in a rush to head back here. The prices seem to be increasing the quality decreasing. There are far better places to visit for food and drinks in Lancaster.

Went to the Study room today , they only reopened today and we found the whole experience first class. Clear guidelines set out in a friendly but safe manner , lovely staff and great food , I had the fish & chips my friend had the Chicken club sandwich both meals excellent. We will def be back.

Got a hotdog and fries it was delicious the coffee was nice to and not to expensive will definitely be returning I highly recommend the study room as a place to stop and eat. Nice friendly staff no hesitation in giving five stars. Nice and clean too.

First visit to The Study Room for a late lunch. It was amazing! I had the fish finger in a bun with pimped fries. Others around the table loved their food choices too. Great service. Amazing food. Will definitely go back next time we are in Lancaster.
