If you’re in Buckshaw Village, definitely check out The Mill Cafe at Charnock Farm. It’s got a cozy, laid-back vibe with great views of the farm. Perfect spot to chill and catch up with friends. The menu’s got a nice variety, from big breakfasts to tasty sandwiches and soups. Don’t miss out on their cakes and pastries—they’re homemade and absolutely delicious. The staff are super friendly and make you feel right at home. Whether you’re in for a quick coffee or a leisurely lunch, The Mill Cafe is a great choice. It’s a real gem in the area!

This place is lovely but very understaffed. Waited over half an hour for our food order, but the quality made up for the wait... Also got our dessert order wrong and double sold the last cake, so had to get something else. On the whole though, it's a nice place, and nice to have a walk round the lodge & farm and feed the animals and fish. Great for kids too.

Very long wait for food unfortunately and even then the food came out in dribs and drabs. Some members of the group had finished before others (including the children) received their meals. Side plates came out almost as a dessert when everything else was finished. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait, but it was 60 minutes and then another 10 to 20 minutes before everything was on the table. The food was decent enough though when it did arrive. The Mill is a pleasant setting, although it is cold as it is a converted mill / barn. It is dog friendly and the surrounding farm with animals is lovely as well. The Mill also sells animal food to feed the ducks and fish. It was just a shame the food wasn't served in a timely fashion especially considering it was far from busy at the time.

Met a friend here for coffee. I last visited many years ago and since then it has expanded considerably. Situated within the grounds of Charnock Farm, Leyland this cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating. It overlooks a large pond with free roaming ducks and geese. There are a couple of pens housing various birds and hens. There is also a barn with 3 Shetland ponies and a donkey. They have access to the outdoors too. On site there is a pub, a motel and several glamping pods positioned around a second pond. In addition there are several small independent businesses, ranging from gift shops, wedding accessories, massage and therapy service, to also a place called Valley Mist, focusing on sustainable, reusable/refillable and vegan made products. Charnock Farm itself is a beautifully converted barn, holding events such as celebrations, weddings and wakes. With its own entrance and bar, this place is worthy of a visit and consideration. (Photos attached are of Valley Mist).

This is a wonderful location with friendly staff. I went to the café for breakfast at about 10:20am. I ordered my food after a short wait and the place was buzzing and seemed very popular. After waiting for about 15mins I was told that they hadn't bought in enough food so they couldn't give me the breakfast. Tesco Café down the road was a better option. The room I stayed in was comfortable and clean. I bought a pizza the night before, the menu is limited and it is just a frozen pizza thrown in an oven, so I wasn't blown away. It's a shame they couldn't give me a box or takeaway container, as I had to walk across the car park with a plate and a glass of pepsi to my room! It would have been nice if they could have brought over themselves considering the cost of the room for the night. I would definitely stay here again, but I'd just skip the food and go elsewhere which is a real shame because I did want to support a local business.

This place is great on a sunny day with the outside area being very popular and a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the view. You can hear the roar of the motorway but not a major issue. Inside is a bit dingy and the conservatory area is a little unwelcoming in chilly weather although there is a stove. Some soft furnishings would help. The main pub is looking a bit tired but still comfortable and there is a quiz on Wednesday night. Staff are friendly and helpful. It's a different proposition than other pubs around and definitely worth a visit particularly on a sunny day.

Had food in the cafe. Small choice made smaller by the fact a number of items not available. Peas arrived in a pot swimming in water which my mum didn't notice a tipped them on to her plate. Quite expensive for cafe pie, chips and peas which included frozen chips. When we asked for the bill the waiter came to take payment and we said we hadn't had the bill and didn't know how much it was. He just said I do but didn't give us a bill. Not a lot else there most of which was closed. Considering it was a Sunday I would have thought it one of the best days for getting sales. There was a nice pottery studio offering paint a pot activities for children which was lovely.

Considering the only side on the menu was homemade chips I was amazed to find they weren't available on a busy Friday lunchtime. Potato shortage in Lancashire??. My wife and I opted for homemade pie and peas. Very long waiting time for what turned out to be a pie the size of a button and a tiny cup of dry peas. Homemade conjours up an impression of something special. This wasn't anything special especially after the long waiting time as well. Shame there was no chips because I might have to stop at KFC to fill up on the way home Such a shame because it is a nice pub. Definitely needs to up the game on its limited menu and chips out of stock and no other options is just plain rediculous.
