Really good food and atmosphere just be aware if going in a 2 you may end up on a bar table and stools not comfy when eating a meal other than that really good.

Booked a table online for my family’s first dinner out in months, looking forward to a nice meal. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived on time but were left waiting for over 30 minutes before being seated despite being told it would be 5 mins. Once at our table, a waitress took our drinks order, but we then had to flag someone down 15 minutes later just to place our food order. The service felt disorganised, and the staff seemed uninterested. When the food finally arrived, my child’s mac and cheese was cold, which was disappointing. No one checked back on us at any point, so we had no opportunity to raise any issues. The food overall was good—decent portions and acceptable quality—but nothing groundbreaking for the price. What made the experience even more frustrating was that there were plenty of empty, dirty tables, despite the restaurant showing as fully booked online. I had even called ahead to try and book, only to be told they had no availability. After checking other reviews, it seems this isn’t a one-off issue—many people mention the same thing: great food but poor service, long wait times, and tables sitting empty because there aren’t enough staff to clean them. To top it off, a 7.5% service charge was automatically added to the bill, which felt like a slap in the face given the lack of service. We didn’t have a designated server, with different people taking our order, bringing food, and handling the bill, making the whole experience feel chaotic and impersonal when I was happy to pay to feel special. At £75 for three people with no alcohol, it felt overpriced, especially considering the lackluster service. Like many places, they seem to be cutting back on staff while still charging premium prices. Won’t be returning in a hurry.

Had a fantastic dinner in Preston! The food was amazing—hands down the closest taste to Texas we’ve found. The staff was incredibly friendly, and a special shoutout to Chris for making our experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back many times!

We have always enjoyed hickory's but having just returns from a family birthday meal we now LOVE hickory's. Fantastic warm welcome and as it was my daughter's birthday we had a lovely happy birthday sign on the table. Our server Jack was exceptional he made such a fuss over our daughter chatting to her asking for her order first just generally chatting and asking about her day etc, she has enjoyed it so much and she hates being fussed over normally. The food was excellent such good value for money as was the drinks but the service WOW. hickory's youve got a fantastic member of staff in Jack so thank you.

Was not expecting to like it much, went for my granddaughter's birthday and was pleasantly surprised! It was great. I'll be going again

Thank you Hickory’s Hutton for making my daughter’s 6th birthday SO special. The food was incredible, the customer service was FIRST CLASS… shoutout to James who went above and beyond to ensure we all had the best time! Apparently it was “the best birthday ever! (High praise!)…. Totally unplanned but we finished the evening in the bar area dancing the night away to live music! Was absolutely tremendous. See you soon guys!

Food was amazing but service was really slow due to it being busy but it was very difficult to get a waiters attention meaning that it took a while to order and get the bill.

Great food and atmosphere but unfortunately very poor service.. Once we went to the bar to get our drinks (as no one came to the table) we ordered our food and once the food arrived we asked for extra plates that didn’t come, no one checked in on how the food was or if we needed more drinks ect, I had to keep getting up to order from the bar and also to ask for cutlery/plates ect as when we asked for them the waitress didn’t bring them.. We have been many times before and the food and service has always been great but the service was really poor on this occasion.

Wow. First time today and I will definitely come back. We had the shared platter for two. It could easily feed 3 people. My son had the marshmallow that you could roast on your table with real 🔥.

Finally managed to get a table booked and loved the atmosphere, service and food. Highlight was bacon bites

Table was booked for 7.30. Didn't get seated till 8.10. Due to this we was just finishing dinner and they told me I needed to order dessert, as the kitchen was shutting. This gave us less than an hour to order food, eat starters and mains.

This is one of my favourite places to take the family. The staff are amazing, you won't find service like this in many other restaurants in the UK. The food is great too if you like American style meals.

Wow why haven't I found and ate at one of these places before. The food was absolutely amazing. I've never had meat served so tender before and it was mouth wateringly tasty. It's not cheap by any means but it was worth every penny.

The gluten-free food here is amazing. My wife had the gf sausage muffin, while I chose the steak and eggs. Unfortunately, my steak wasn't good, and I let the staff know. What happened next blew my mind. Without any hesitation, they replaced the whole meal, not just the steak. They really couldn't have handled it any better. Outstanding service.

Atmosphere and Initial Impressions Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the bar staff who introduced us to a variety of American bourbons and shared intriguing stories of their historic significance. This thoughtful introduction set a high bar for the evening, with the staff demonstrating both knowledge and hospitality, hat off to these guys, they know their stuff. Service and Cuisine. The servers at Hickory’s Smokehouse were nothing short of excellent. Their attentiveness ensured our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Each dish that came to our table was not only timely but cooked to perfection, showcasing the skill of the chefs. The atmosphere throughout the evening was electric, making it a perfect backdrop for making cherished family memories. Unpleasant Conclusion Unfortunately, our wonderful experience was marred towards the end by an incident involving a staff member named Coulson. As we were concluding our meal, Coulson presented our bill with a pre-included tip of (£15 which he added without deservedness) This was unexpected as he had not been involved in our service throughout the evening. When I inquired about this charge, Coulson responded in a manner that was both shocking inappropriate, and cringeworthy, especially in front of my family. His defensive, aggressive attitude and the manner in which he addressed our concerns were out of line with the otherwise stellar service we had received. Despite this, we sought to resolve the matter discreetly and spoke with a manager who assured us that the issue would be looked into. It was important for us to recognize and reward the staff who directly contributed to our enjoyable evening, rather than feeling compelled to reward someone who did not participate in providing the service we experienced. Final Thoughts While the majority of our visit to Hickory’s Smokehouse was exceptional, the incident at the end was unfortunate and not reflective of the high standards of hospitality we initially encountered. It is our hope that feedback like ours will be taken constructively, ensuring that future guests do not encounter similar issues. Great service and great food. Very attentive and very careful regarding food allergies.

First time at hickory’s today and we were very impressed. The food was delicious; we had fajitas, mac and cheese and the meat platter. The cinema room is a brilliant idea to help keep children entertained while they wait for food. The free popcorn was also delicious! We will definitely be back. It was very expensive but a nice treat and worth the money.

Went for the first time. Ordered half a chicken. It was small and not a lot of sauce on it. Ordered beef rib. It was tender but lacked flavor and seasoning. It's also quite expensive, £58 for two mains and two sodas. Price includes a tip (optional)

Fantastic service and great place for a family celebration. Love the relaxed environment and kids love the milkshake and cinema setting. We are regulars and it’s the commitment from the staff to ensure you have the best food experience.

An absolutely fantastic night, fully catered for my Sons 13th birthday. The atmosphere and general vibe was brilliant, the food speaks for itself, plenty of it too, the evening was guided by Colson who was fantastic in seeing to all the party's needs, a great lad and a credit, we will be back again very soon!

Well worth a visit, the place is a bit of a maze though if you haven't been before. The outdoor seating area looks good, but we sat inside. Service is really good.

Visited for the first time this evening for dinner after hearing good things. Our meals arrived at the table, I had ordered the pulled pork which was stone cold & my partner had ordered a platter of which the meat selection was raw, gristle or cold. The waitress never bothered to check back on our meal and came to clear 2 full plates from our table as neither of us could eat our meal and yet again did not ask how our meal was. We went to the bar to pay our bill where a separate waitress handed us our bill and stated there was a tip on to which I asked her to take the tip off and kindly explained we had left all our food as it was cold and our waitress hadn’t bothered to check on our meals. She just said sorry and handed my partner the card machine. All in all feel like we have gone out for tea and been ripped off paying £60 for fresh air. Won’t be visiting Hickory’s again.

One of our favourite places to eat and tonight the management and staff showed such kindness when we ordered a meal for my daughter in law who should’ve been with us but who has been in hospital a while…after explaining why we were one down we ordered a takeaway for her and not only did they not charge us but they packed or well and wrote @ card for her Really touched, thank you

I was told how good the food was at the hickory smokehouse in Hutton Preston, so i took my family out to try it. It was even better than it was described. Their brisket and ribs were cooked to perfection, and the brisket was smoked for 16 hours, making it super tender with a lovely flavour with the spice rub. The tater tots were the perfect side also. The staff were great and although very busy were always ready when needed and really professional. I am already planning on going again, and although it's a fair drive for me, it's well worth it. 👌 😋💯✌️

Was my first time here, group of 10 all squeezed together, not the best situation. food was amazing, also the best barman I think I've ever met, was his name Sal? He wore a silver face mask at Halloween, such a nice guy. Waiter no good at all, other wait staff was pretty good, although I wouldn't return to this establishment I will definitely go back to another Hickory's. We was there for a 40th and 50th, might drop a note to greene King or who ever owns it.

This wasn’t somewhere I would have picked normally and boy would I have been missing out!! Food…fantastic, service…spot on! I was too busy tucking in to get a pic of mine, I got the beef brisket sub and it was fantastic. I’m pretty fussy with meat (always worried about fat and nasty bits) but this was perfect. My husband got the “go big or go home burger” he’s better than me (this once and once only) and actually remembered to take a pic, I had to have the obligatory taste test and oh my days was it good! Would I recommend…definitely. Will I be back…most certainly!

Lovely family time unfortunately I was the unlucky one when it came to the meal. Not a meat lover ordered the fish decent enough but the what came with it looked like it had come from a tin plus it was cold in places. Everyone else seemed happy enough but I think I pushed the boat out with my order as I was also the last one to receive my food. My take is stick to what there good at and don’t get too ambitious with your good ordered cause you will be disappointed

Nice smokehouse, went late in the evening and got the brisket, was good and soft, fell apart but dryer than I was hoping for but went at 9pm so I'm sure it's better if I went earlier, tried the ribs and would get them next time but would definitely go again.

We visited in July for the first time and really enjoyed it. Retuned today and was a bit disappointed. We ordered the smokehouse platter and when it came everything was cold, even the fries were completely cold. They gave us a table round the corner in the window where it was difficult to get a servers attention so I went to find one and they did replace the platter and were very apologetic. It was much hotter when it came the second time but the Jacob’s ladder was mostly fat with very little meat and we also ordered the Philly cheese sub, the meat was very strange and soft, more like burger and don’t taste too great, not something we would order again. The sub was like a part baked baguette that had been sliced in the middle all the way through so the filling didn’t stay in at all. Staff were absolutely lovely and apologetic but for the price you pay it was disappointing sadly as it’s definitely on the expensive side.

Waited at the bar last night for a table for 2, was told it would be around 15 minutes. No problem, happy to wait that long. After 20 - 25 minutes, the woman working the front desk came over and said our table would just be a couple more mins and that she'd come back for us. Never did. Went to leave after 45 minutes of waiting and same woman then told us our table was now ready. Convenient. After telling her how long we'd been waiting, she had the cheek to say "well we are busy tonight". We could see that, but simply don't tell us it'll only be a 15 minute wait if you can't meet the expectation then. Shame because the food is always great at any Hickories you go to and we were looking forward to dinner. Won't be going back to the Hutton restaurant however.

First time at Hickory's Hutton, had to book a table, very busy, the waiter was great explaining the process and dishes. Food arrived and was great, 3 courses, 3 people with drinks about £100 so a little more expensive, but worth it. One concern is they add a 7% tip by default. I disagree with this - yes it's American style, but feel you should only tip for good service? It was about £9, and I'd usually leave a tenner, so they missed out. You can ask for it to be removed, but us Brits don't normally ask do we, we pay and don't return ...

Really enjoyed the place and the smokehouse platter. For kids the cinema is good!

The food is still good but it's on the expensive side for what it is. The service isn't what it was, polite enough but really slow, I won't be rushing back.

Just had my wedding anniversary here and it was an amazing night. The staff went above and beyond, if you want to experience an authentic American restaurant look no further than hickory's smokehouse.

Food and atmosphere was amazing and our bartender Abi was sooo lovely she’s honestly such an amazing girl <3 Only thing is the managers left her alone while there was a very busy bar. She was doing all the work herself while the managers were having a chat (and looked at the customers several times) poor service from managers but everything else was amazing

We’re so lucky having Hockoy’s on our door step. The food is always outstanding and the service an example of excellence. The price is a bit more expensive than your average restaurant, but then you get what you pay for. Don’t just take it from me, if ever you drive past I challenge you to find a day when the car park isn’t full.

Amazing place great atmosphere. The food was very good . BBQ special for £20 was a bargain, more than enough food and so much meat. Incredible bargain. And the nice IPA washed it all down very nicely.

Visited Hickory's as we had heard good things about it so my son and myself came. From entering the building to finishing our meals the staff were absolutely amazing ....Never anywhere before have I recieved this form of customer service. Now onto the meal's ....we shared a starter of Tennessee chicken wings...they were hot and spicy but just right and enjoyed them .. I had baby back ribs and my son had the tripple smash Burger,which he said was to die for. So long story short Yes would defo recommended even if it is a little pricy but well worth the visit.

We turned up on time, a booked table for 18 for my step sons 18th. The previous guests was still at our table, we had to wait outside, the manager was a bit arsey, the staff was very helpful, we got to our tabl 20 min behind booking time which for just a Friday night thought was not acceptable. The manager had attitude also. The food was remarkable, I shared a platter and sampled lots of different meats upon that dish and it was divine, the brisket is absolutely to die for, if it was not for the food and atmosphere I probably wouldn't go again. But we will because it is that lush, nothing like it around

A nice smokehouse which I would return to! Atmosphere is as good as can be expected with usual kids running about etc, but the staff are lovely as was the food. You even get free popcorn when you are seated! The prices are not bad at all, but I did think it was a bit cheeky to charge an extra £1 for red salt on the chips, it is also worth noting that a 7.5% tip is added automatically to your bill.

We come here quite alot and food and drink is always amazing. Last night tho we was let down with the service. 2 hours for 2 corses. I think we would still be waiting now for someone to come get our pudding order if we didn't get up and go pay the bill. Asked for bbq sauce when they bought our main and nothing came. No popcorn bought to us when we sat down. In the end we refused to pay the tip which we always have payed previous.

I don't understand complaints about seating at restaurants. I've seen a few folks moaning about being 'sat next to disabled toilets' and 'sat in the aisle'... if you don't like eating around other people - cook your own food! Rant over... MY experience(s) of Hickory's (Hutton) have been excellent. Both times. My son and I were in the area so decided to visit for dinner. We sat on a small table that was big enough for two people, a bunch of drinks and a massive platter for two. The atmosphere was awesome - it was super busy and the staff had a lot to do, yet they were attentive and friendly. I chatted to three servers about the beers they had available - they were very knowledgable about their offerings. The greeting upon arrival set the tone with a warm and enthusiastic welcome, and the girl who guided us to the table provided us with some tips on what's good. After being seated we had another server take our drinks order within a matter of minutes, which arrived promptly. Food also arrived faster than expected - and it was ALL amazing. Very tasty, authentic and we ate like kings. The ribs were cooked perfectly and the picked red onion was right up my street.... I could've had a jar full of that stuff. All in all, my son and I very much enjoyed the vibe, the folks and the food. Second time we've been there and was very happy with the entire experience. Happier still to discover that there's a Hickory's even closer to where we live, so we'll try that next month. Kudos to the staff and management for such high standards.

Food was to die for 😍 had pretzel bites, bacon brisket bites and frickles to start. For mains we had the platter for 1, chicken fajitas, brisket sub and pulled pork and everything was 10/10 would highly recommend! Great atmosphere, will definitely be back soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We live in Blackpool but still drive out to the one in Hutton. The food is faultless and the service is five star. It was my partners birthday and they made such a fuss of him. He was really made up and you made his day ❤

Visited for my birthday recently. Staff were super and helpful ( Madison, our server was especially lovely, thank you). Nice atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious. The manager sorted a problem out for me ( my fault, not theirs) and was also wonderful. Thank you for a great evening. We will be back soon.

Been here several times and the food is of the highest standard. Authentically American with loads of choice. Everything is expertly cooked and presented. Expect to eat a lot! Service is generally fast and attentive. One tip - if you order soft drinks ask for ‘no ice’. I removed the ice from a pint of coke and was left with a half pint. I then ordered another coke with no ice and of course it came in a smaller glass. However on this visit we were left very disappointed - we were served by a lovely young lady who was friendly and professional and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed all the food. We paid just over £200 for a party of 6 and left a generous tip and left a great review on her tablet - but as soon as she walked away we were approached immediately by a male member of staff who said “guys I know you’ve literally just paid but we really need this table’… which translated to ‘we’ve had your money now go!’ Perhaps asking if we’d like to move to the bar and enjoy a coffee? No, he just wanted us out. Two of our party are 83 years old and getting out of the small booth they’d squeezed the 6 of us into wasn’t easy but we’d clearly outstayed our welcome. A shame the manager was not around as we were leaving or I would have discussed it then. Please teach your junior members of staff some decorum. It was unprofessional and discourteous. This comment spoiled the whole experience and we agreed we would be reluctant to return to where we felt this way. Apart from that, a great experience. Date of booking 22/9/24 3:45pm

Booked a booth for Saturday 21st September 2024 for my grandaughters 12th birthday, she chose here as its her favourite place, during the phone conversation i asked if they could do something a little special for her birthday and they said yes we bring out a treat and a sparkler and sing happy birthday. Brilliant i thought all arranged. Arrived early. Finally got seated on a table next to the toilets. No booth as requested, checked and confirm over the phone pre visit. We were then handed menu's one of which had a big lump of chewing gum stuck to it. Told the waitress she just took it never said a word, screwed it up in her hand and walked off. As we were not happy about sitting by the toilets and not what we booked i asked to move so they moved us to a booth which we should of had in the 1st place. Waited ages to order and then a further 45 for the food to arrive. Whilst eating the fajitas I bit into mine and had a long blond hair in my mouth which was in the food. (none of us at the table have blond hair). This was the final straw. It Knocked me sick and i could not even look at the food. They knocked it off the bill, i wasnt bothered about the bill it was more about the dirty long hair in my food and not being able to continue with the meal. Not only this my grandaughter didnt get the birthday treat they said she would get which was just another let down. I can say they well and truly spoilt my granddaughters birthday meal. We have been there on many occasions and never had an issue this was just a catalogue of disasters in one night will definitely not be returning. Definitely gone downhill sadly.

Had the Gumbo that’s just been added to the menu and loved it. The Ultimate Comfort Food ❤️. So good I had to take it home for Lunch tomorrow. Definitely recommend for all the other food aswell though and the great atmosphere. It can be really busy but I think that speaks for itself because it’s good.

Always incredible here, food brilliant, great choice and definitely the best BBQ place about. Good for little ones as well and easy to park and find. Reduced a star from service with the forced service charge, you can get it removed but these things should be opt in not opt out.
