Hickory's Smokehouse Hutton in South Ribble

Waited at the bar last night for a table for 2, was told it would be around 15 minutes. No problem, happy to wait that long. After 20 - 25 minutes, the woman working the front desk came over and said our table would just be a couple more mins and that she'd come back for us. Never did. Went to leave after 45 minutes of waiting and same woman then told us our table was now ready. Convenient. After telling her how long we'd been waiting, she had the cheek to say "well we are busy tonight". We could see that, but simply don't tell us it'll only be a 15 minute wait if you can't meet the expectation then. Shame because the food is always great at any Hickories you go to and we were looking forward to dinner. Won't be going back to the Hutton restaurant however.

First time at Hickory's Hutton, had to book a table, very busy, the waiter was great explaining the process and dishes. Food arrived and was great, 3 courses, 3 people with drinks about £100 so a little more expensive, but worth it. One concern is they add a 7% tip by default. I disagree with this - yes it's American style, but feel you should only tip for good service? It was about £9, and I'd usually leave a tenner, so they missed out. You can ask for it to be removed, but us Brits don't normally ask do we, we pay and don't return ...

Really enjoyed the place and the smokehouse platter. For kids the cinema is good!

The food is still good but it's on the expensive side for what it is. The service isn't what it was, polite enough but really slow, I won't be rushing back.

Just had my wedding anniversary here and it was an amazing night. The staff went above and beyond, if you want to experience an authentic American restaurant look no further than hickory's smokehouse.

Food and atmosphere was amazing and our bartender Abi was sooo lovely she’s honestly such an amazing girl <3 Only thing is the managers left her alone while there was a very busy bar. She was doing all the work herself while the managers were having a chat (and looked at the customers several times) poor service from managers but everything else was amazing

We turned up on time, a booked table for 18 for my step sons 18th. The previous guests was still at our table, we had to wait outside, the manager was a bit arsey, the staff was very helpful, we got to our tabl 20 min behind booking time which for just a Friday night thought was not acceptable. The manager had attitude also. The food was remarkable, I shared a platter and sampled lots of different meats upon that dish and it was divine, the brisket is absolutely to die for, if it was not for the food and atmosphere I probably wouldn't go again. But we will because it is that lush, nothing like it around

Visited Hickory's as we had heard good things about it so my son and myself came. From entering the building to finishing our meals the staff were absolutely amazing ....Never anywhere before have I recieved this form of customer service. Now onto the meal's ....we shared a starter of Tennessee chicken wings...they were hot and spicy but just right and enjoyed them .. I had baby back ribs and my son had the tripple smash Burger,which he said was to die for. So long story short Yes would defo recommended even if it is a little pricy but well worth the visit.

We’re so lucky having Hockoy’s on our door step. The food is always outstanding and the service an example of excellence. The price is a bit more expensive than your average restaurant, but then you get what you pay for. Don’t just take it from me, if ever you drive past I challenge you to find a day when the car park isn’t full.

Amazing place great atmosphere. The food was very good . BBQ special for £20 was a bargain, more than enough food and so much meat. Incredible bargain. And the nice IPA washed it all down very nicely.

A nice smokehouse which I would return to! Atmosphere is as good as can be expected with usual kids running about etc, but the staff are lovely as was the food. You even get free popcorn when you are seated! The prices are not bad at all, but I did think it was a bit cheeky to charge an extra £1 for red salt on the chips, it is also worth noting that a 7.5% tip is added automatically to your bill.

We come here quite alot and food and drink is always amazing. Last night tho we was let down with the service. 2 hours for 2 corses. I think we would still be waiting now for someone to come get our pudding order if we didn't get up and go pay the bill. Asked for bbq sauce when they bought our main and nothing came. No popcorn bought to us when we sat down. In the end we refused to pay the tip which we always have payed previous.

I don't understand complaints about seating at restaurants. I've seen a few folks moaning about being 'sat next to disabled toilets' and 'sat in the aisle'... if you don't like eating around other people - cook your own food! Rant over... MY experience(s) of Hickory's (Hutton) have been excellent. Both times. My son and I were in the area so decided to visit for dinner. We sat on a small table that was big enough for two people, a bunch of drinks and a massive platter for two. The atmosphere was awesome - it was super busy and the staff had a lot to do, yet they were attentive and friendly. I chatted to three servers about the beers they had available - they were very knowledgable about their offerings. The greeting upon arrival set the tone with a warm and enthusiastic welcome, and the girl who guided us to the table provided us with some tips on what's good. After being seated we had another server take our drinks order within a matter of minutes, which arrived promptly. Food also arrived faster than expected - and it was ALL amazing. Very tasty, authentic and we ate like kings. The ribs were cooked perfectly and the picked red onion was right up my street.... I could've had a jar full of that stuff. All in all, my son and I very much enjoyed the vibe, the folks and the food. Second time we've been there and was very happy with the entire experience. Happier still to discover that there's a Hickory's even closer to where we live, so we'll try that next month. Kudos to the staff and management for such high standards.

Food was to die for 😍 had pretzel bites, bacon brisket bites and frickles to start. For mains we had the platter for 1, chicken fajitas, brisket sub and pulled pork and everything was 10/10 would highly recommend! Great atmosphere, will definitely be back soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visited for my birthday recently. Staff were super and helpful ( Madison, our server was especially lovely, thank you). Nice atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious. The manager sorted a problem out for me ( my fault, not theirs) and was also wonderful. Thank you for a great evening. We will be back soon.

We live in Blackpool but still drive out to the one in Hutton. The food is faultless and the service is five star. It was my partners birthday and they made such a fuss of him. He was really made up and you made his day ❤

Had the Gumbo that’s just been added to the menu and loved it. The Ultimate Comfort Food ❤️. So good I had to take it home for Lunch tomorrow. Definitely recommend for all the other food aswell though and the great atmosphere. It can be really busy but I think that speaks for itself because it’s good.

Been here several times and the food is of the highest standard. Authentically American with loads of choice. Everything is expertly cooked and presented. Expect to eat a lot! Service is generally fast and attentive. One tip - if you order soft drinks ask for ‘no ice’. I removed the ice from a pint of coke and was left with a half pint. I then ordered another coke with no ice and of course it came in a smaller glass. However on this visit we were left very disappointed - we were served by a lovely young lady who was friendly and professional and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed all the food. We paid just over £200 for a party of 6 and left a generous tip and left a great review on her tablet - but as soon as she walked away we were approached immediately by a male member of staff who said “guys I know you’ve literally just paid but we really need this table’… which translated to ‘we’ve had your money now go!’ Perhaps asking if we’d like to move to the bar and enjoy a coffee? No, he just wanted us out. Two of our party are 83 years old and getting out of the small booth they’d squeezed the 6 of us into wasn’t easy but we’d clearly outstayed our welcome. A shame the manager was not around as we were leaving or I would have discussed it then. Please teach your junior members of staff some decorum. It was unprofessional and discourteous. This comment spoiled the whole experience and we agreed we would be reluctant to return to where we felt this way. Apart from that, a great experience. Date of booking 22/9/24 3:45pm

Went for wings Wednesdays, really nice .

Booked a booth for Saturday 21st September 2024 for my grandaughters 12th birthday, she chose here as its her favourite place, during the phone conversation i asked if they could do something a little special for her birthday and they said yes we bring out a treat and a sparkler and sing happy birthday. Brilliant i thought all arranged. Arrived early. Finally got seated on a table next to the toilets. No booth as requested, checked and confirm over the phone pre visit. We were then handed menu's one of which had a big lump of chewing gum stuck to it. Told the waitress she just took it never said a word, screwed it up in her hand and walked off. As we were not happy about sitting by the toilets and not what we booked i asked to move so they moved us to a booth which we should of had in the 1st place. Waited ages to order and then a further 45 for the food to arrive. Whilst eating the fajitas I bit into mine and had a long blond hair in my mouth which was in the food. (none of us at the table have blond hair). This was the final straw. It Knocked me sick and i could not even look at the food. They knocked it off the bill, i wasnt bothered about the bill it was more about the dirty long hair in my food and not being able to continue with the meal. Not only this my grandaughter didnt get the birthday treat they said she would get which was just another let down. I can say they well and truly spoilt my granddaughters birthday meal. We have been there on many occasions and never had an issue this was just a catalogue of disasters in one night will definitely not be returning. Definitely gone downhill sadly.

Second visit and service/food/atmosphere absolutely amazing, table for 7 of us, food all served piping hot and just delicious will be a third visit very soon, excellent staff well looked after

Always incredible here, food brilliant, great choice and definitely the best BBQ place about. Good for little ones as well and easy to park and find. Reduced a star from service with the forced service charge, you can get it removed but these things should be opt in not opt out.

We thought we’d give Hickory’s a try today, mostly for the kids as we’d heard it has a great set up and good kids menu. Sadly, we were all underwhelmed. Considering it was not very busy, we were sat right in a walkway near the disabled toilet and had constant flow of traffic from the kitchen out to tables when there were plenty of cosy booths empty. Adults ordered the smokehouse platter which cost £60 - what a waste of money, it was bland, dry and lukewarm…Hickory’s are making a fortune out of these platters (see picture!). Kids meals - frankfurter was passable but the cod bites were disgusting and couldn’t be eaten. We ended up popping to Tesco on the way home to get some proper food as my son was starving. Hygiene doesn’t seem the best in here either, tables were not clean and ladies toilets were either out of use or not flushing. The waitress did ask us how we found it to which we responded not very good to be honest as the food was cold, bland, pretty tasteless. The response was oh sorry about that which left us thinking this is probably a common response. £90 for 4 meals and 4 soft drinks when we were in and out within 50 mins (food came within 10 mins of ordering), this was a terrible dining experience. This was our first and final visit to a Hickory’s.

I'm from Virginia and have had BBQ all over the states, and Hickory's is legit! It was like having BBQ in Texas, the Carolinas, and central Midwest all on one plate. Food, atmosphere, and music were all great. I was truly surprised.

Very good, once came here for New Year’s Eve and it wasn’t very good staff rude etc but this time it was very good and staff a lot better worth the tip

Excellent food the meat is just spot on. There's a Waiter for every 3 tables so they are very attentive to the table and get anything you need very fast even though the place is always full. The atmosphere really gives you the American vibes, their uniforms are even American styles. Great music. Reasonable prices for the service and quality of food you receive. Great night thank you to your staff.

Most staff spot on, one absolute horrible cow told children not to take popcorn into cinema as it was all over, before I had ordered my food I had already been into the cinema where before my kids, who I am certain added to mess but cinema was covered already and rubbish tucked down seats. Very rude girl abruptly said this before I had time to take in and it to piss me off staff had changed and I complained to a space cadet not a clue what I was saying. Food was sharer for two just slop really apart from pork bite pieces we got extra they were lovely. Overall bad I’ll spend my £140 on pork scratchings before going here again.

The table waitress was excellent. Ordered starters and mains. Requested alternative dip with one of the starters that didn’t arrive (after 2nd request) others had finished their starters before it had eventually arrived. The worst was our mains arrived at the table and we hadn’t finished our starters. Even when I made this known (which was clearly obvious) the waiter seemed intent to leave us with our mains, with a table full of incomplete starters. Not great. The “background” music was so loud I couldn’t hear what the waitress was saying or what my family was talking about on the opposite side of the table.

Wonderfully friendly waitresses and good atmosphere. The food though is a pale version of the US. Everything was a bit dry with small portions for the prices. And in that sense it's exactly the average classic British chain.

I can’t comment on the food as I wasn’t there - but Hickory’s always come good with the kids. I booked for my daughter’s 16th birthday with 7 friends and they were great from the start, sorting the balloon and cake we dropped off and singing Happy Birthday (and supplying a big candle). Made her feel very special. Many thanks.

We pre booked and asked for a table outside on booking. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready, and we were asked to sit at the bar. As we walked in, a waitress dropped a bowl of salad on the floor, and it spread everywhere. She just ran off and left it there. I presumed she had gone to get something to tidy it up, but it just stayed there until the bar staff noticed. It was a bit bizarre. We were eventually seated indoors against our request for outdoor seating. We sat next to one of many windows that were all closed, and it was boiling in there. We dis open the window ourselves, which made it slightly more bareable. The entire time we were eating, there were seats free outside, which really annoyed me. The food was amazing, but it ruined my visit with the heat and lack of attention from staff. We didn't stay for dessert, and it has put us off returning again.

Hickory’s is a great restaurant with great food and the customer service is lovely. Really personable staff that are all incredibly friendly, WHEN you see them. I’ve been several times at different times of the day with both friends and family and it’s the same every time so it’s not a one off. We went last night and had booked for 7pm. Unfortunately a meeting ran on and we were 15 minutes late. If you phone to warn them you just get an automated message saying if it’s just 15 minutes then turn up so that’s what we did. We were seated immediately and had complimentary water and popcorn brought to us. I really like this. We ordered drinks and meals and these were all brought out fairly promptly and were very delicious (except the corn wheels. It’s corn on the cob that’s been cooked so there’s no flesh left and very vinegary. Would give those a miss). Our waitress came by once whilst we were eating to check everything was ok and then we didn’t see her again for a very long time. I don’t know how long it took but we got there at 7:15pm left at 9pm and we had only had mains and most of the time wasn’t spent eating. It was waiting for the waitress to return. Even when we asked for the bill it was still 10 minutes of waiting for it but they are prompt bringing a customer survey out. Which is uncomfortable to fill out when you are complaining about how long you’ve had to wait. It was busy last night but we have been here for lunches when there’s only been a couple of tables occupied and it’s still the same. Maybe if you are there for a celebration and you want to spend time with people you don’t normally get to then you don’t mind the wait, but if you are just there for a meal on a Tuesday evening and nothing special you don’t really want to wait for over half an hour with dirty plates in front of you. They must also be missing out on drinks refills and pudding sales because by the time you’ve waited that long you just don’t want to be there any more, no matter how lovely the surroundings. Especially on a busy evening in August when it’s uncomfortably warm in the restaurant. It’s an absolute shame because the staff are all so very lovely and great when you do see them. And there’s a lot of them so I don’t think it’s that they are all run off their feet, there just seems to be a culture of not coming to the table for ages once they’ve dropped off the food.

Had to book, but table wasn't ready. Seated on a small crampt table. Waitress excellent. Menu ok and food was nice but noisy. Nothing our autistic son could eat so won't be going back. Ladies toilets were dreadful. And watch for the automatic service charge! Tipping is my choice. If you can't afford to pay your staff properly put your prices up so you can.

The service here is spot on. We were made to feel very welcome. Amber was really lovely, personable and professional and knew the menu and offers of the day making it really easy for us to choose. The grape soda was off the charts and the chicken club sandwich was huge. We had a lovely lunch, felt very welcome and really enjoyed the food.

When we arrived, we was told to get a drink at the bar as our table wasn’t ready (booked for 5, but wasn’t ready til 5:15). Ordering was fine, food was OK however 1 meal out of 4 was cold. When finished eating, no one came to clear our table at all, we were sat waiting for a long while, and it was my partners birthday (which they knew). It took so long that we asked for the bill and then left. Food was alright but wouldn’t return, staff too busy elsewhere

Thus place was amazing the platter for 2 was amazing with loads of meat, the puddings were great too.

We went as a couple to check it out, having heard great things. We booked as advised and made sure we weren't in sports wear or costumes as stated in the booking email. We arrived to see large numbers clearly in sports wear. Our table wasn't ready, and we were asked to wait in the bar. It took 10 minutes for the table to be ready. We were then seated at a very cramped small table. The menu was very American, and personally, I found it over facing. We ordered drinks (no standard soft drink options on the drinks menu so I don't know if they do coke/pepsi etc) I had an expensive peach iced tea, which was nice but nearly all ice. They did bring a bottle of water for the table, so I switched to that. The food was nice and the service was excellent. The waitress was very helpful, polite, and attentive. I had the chicken fajitas. The little pots of sour cream etc really needed a spoon to be able to add them to my wraps. The toilets were poor. Only 1 out of 4 was usable and it didn't have toilet roll. We won't be going back with our teenagers as there was nothing on the menu our autistic son would eat and it was far too noisy for him. It did make a change.

Service was terrible, waited 30 minutes for our table we had booked, had to flag someone down to order, starters took around 20 minutes, we had to ask for more drinks, and where our mains were, three meals arrived the fourth has been forgotten and arrived as everyone else was finishing. We were not offered dessert and had to go and find someone to get and pay the bill. Too busy and poorly run.

Food served super quickly after ordering, had a great steak and beer.

PLEASE READ. What can I say I messaged them asking if they did a takeaway they said unfortunately not. So explained a good friend of mine is terminally Ill and wanted to visit before he became to ill unfortunately he's bed bound and couldn't go. Next day manager (Beatrice) rung offered to help by saying if he can't come to restaurant we'll bring the restaurant to him next day Beatrice and another member of staff came to his house 40 miles away set up a table exactly the same as restaurant for him and his son for 1 last restaurant meal together. They had the smoked platter for 2 and it was on the house As well I can not say thankyou enough for everything they did. We will be forever grateful 🥲 Dave and liz

Really nice a bit expensive yho so deffo treat meal and they added a 5er service charge I'd rather tip myself rather than just get it on the bill thought that was well cheeky n and when you question about it ur made to feel tight even though we had just spent 100 quid !

The food, the team , the entertainment was all first class . It’s been awhile since we went to a restaurant with a vibe like this !!! Really enjoyable night and a special mention to the staff - smiles and professional all round .

Service is always excellent. Have been accommodating even when the car park full and very busy. I like the vibe and it’s just easy. Great for family and when we’re been with friends.

American BBQ.... The brisket is divine

Booked in for Saturday nite at 7pm got there just before and taken to our table almost straight away Ordered the platter for 2 It was delicious Everything was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth Had to have a desert to finish off well as you can see they were absolutely Devine We will definitely book again what a really nice experience can highly recommend for a good meal out

Muched overrated . The food was nice, but what you get and what you pay for are two different things. I could hardly hear what the server was saying even after asking her twice due to the level of noise .

We booked a table for 16.00 and arrived at 15.00.greeted by nice staff member and were shown to the bar before we went into restaurant.There was only one guy in there at the bar.we had a drink and then went into eat.We ordered cowboy steak ,Brisket and Cauliflower cheese with side salad.service was good but there was only us and a young couple opposite and a family of four beside us! Food was tasty but could have easily stayed at home and had more. For what they charged us here for a lot less.Look at the photos posted and you be the judge.The only redeeming quality here is the friendly staff but we won't be back again. We left disappointed.

Really nice setting outside has heated lamps. Price I payed for 2 people £95 plus tip.The food is good I'd say small portions for the pricing. We had the £20.99 brisket didn't think they was £15 worth of meat I found it to be fatty but I preferred it in the mac and cheese found it to be more flavourful also had the big pig burger and it was to a standard size, the pulled pork nachos I would recommend definitely preferred the pulled pork over the brisket and I don't really eat pork often. The staff was very friendly and accommodated to us well. Loved the fact they had blankets outside but did find bird poo on the one I was using.

You can book outdoor huts so you can take your dog . Service and food very good

Our first ever visit to Hickory and we are impressed. The staff were first class and very helpful. Food very tasty and even my wife who is very fussy enjoyed it. We will certainly be back. Just one suggestion, the table we had was in quite a dark section and as older people we found it a bit dark to read the menu sheets, and I prefer to add and choose my own tip as opposed to a fixed service charge. I left it as it was as our server was excellent and so helpful but I do think that would deter a few older people.

Lovely,helpful waitress Amber, first time visiting so we chose a few different things to try,all good ,we will revisit.

My wife and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary here. This was the first time for us to go to Hickory's. Wow! We absolutely loved it! The staff are all welcoming. They're all so friendly. They will do absolutely anything and everything they can to make sure your visit is that little bit better. We were excited to try something new, and the staff made our visit so much better by adding little touches during our meal. They had a little board welcoming us to our table, with Happy Anniversary written on. We had more little touches added throughout our visit. The food is amazing there, we absolutely enjoyed everything we had here. The only thing we didn't try sadly was from the desert menu! Next time we visit, we will make sure we leave room for pudding. Thank you again for making our day so much better! We will never forget what you did for us!

Even though this is a chain, it has a lot of personality and fantastic food. Easily the best BBQ food in the area, so much to choose from but you can't make any bad decisions as it's all good!

We came to Hickorys Hutton for my partners birthday, its his fav place. The food my partner ordered was lovely he had a platter, I however was disappointed with the ribs. I found them to be far too fatty with grizel. The server did not come to see us only to give drinks and food, o dont think he enjoys his job very much as he was not a happy chappy! Will we come again, considering we have been lots of times, maybe not. Disappointed

Great atmosphere, really polite staff, really good food. Would definitely go again. My partner said that there were free sanitary things in the ladies toilets which impressed her. Highly recommended

Absolutely outstanding place, great table service and staff were too kind. The atmosphere really made me feel like I was in America, the music, large screen TV, food etc. They even had the cutest little cinema for the kids aswell. If I had the opportunity to tell everyone where they should go out to eat I would recommend this place no hesitation. AMAZING

Was so excited about going to Hickory's and was so disappointed. I had 1/2 which was pink in places and my friend had pulled pork which again was small and 2 soft drinks and was over £50. I think it was expensive for what it was.

Went with my son for father's day and was seated at the bar for the match, The staff were great, sadly the brisket had to go back as it was just a pile of fat. Aside from that will deffo go back as can't fault the staff, great atmosphere and reasonably priced

My 4th visit to a Hickorys, but my first visit to the Hutton one. Never seen it so busy, but despite this, staff were great, food was amazing as always.

Great addition to the local area, nice selection of food, and drinks with a takeout option if needed which is always a nice bonus. Price slightly higher than average however worth every penny. Nice atmosphere.
