Good old down to earth pub in nice location.

Great location to grab a nice beer for sitting next to or walk by the river

Long wait for food.When it did finally come it was over salty and not very nice.The worse meal I had in a long it!!

Came here for lunch. It had your standard menu and a nice selection of beers. I had the bangers and mash while my wife had the burger. Both were very yummy. Nice cozy atmosphere.

Fantastic pub on Mill Lane down by the river; never disappoints. We stopped in this time while waiting out a brief rain shower before going punting. Very pleased they had a roaring fire going to keep everyone warm and dry. Food here great. Will be back again!

Grab a beer to go and sit by the water. Enjoy.

Went on Saturday night with friends. Good, small, busy and friendly pub. Good for a pint or two. Food, disappointing, below average.

Buena comida, pero no lo que pedí. Pedí las fritas de carne que se suponía que venían con una ensalada de berros y papas fritas triples cocidas. En su lugar vino con algunas hojas de ensalada y papas fritas. También mi entrante llegó después de mi plato principal. Servicio ligeramente lento, pero era un buen ambiente, así que no es realmente un problema

Bueno... ¡qué joya nos hemos topado aquí por accidente! Un maravilloso pub rústico con mucho encanto e incluso una estufa de leña! La comida era deliciosa y todo el personal trabajó muy duro para asegurarse de que nos cuidaron! Estaba muy ocupado y no es de extrañar! ¿Podrían haber hecho con otro miembro del personal de guardia, ya que parecía que solo dos trabajaban un viernes? ¡Una experiencia maravillosa! ¡Volveremos!

“The mill” is a grand place to spend a few hours while visiting Cambridge. The ambiance is quite special, and although we didn’t eat here I’m sure the food is equally marvellous.. 5 stars from me forsooth😁

Lamb Sunday Roast I am trying to give reviews to all of the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this pub. This pub provides lamb Sunday roast option. So far most of the Cambridge pubs do not have lamb options. The portion was large, the prices were not the cheapest but reasonable. You would get what you pay for. The generous slices of meat were good quality, without any strange taste or smell. The potatoes were crispy and fluffy inside. The Yorkshire puddings were crispy. The root vegetables were not overcooked. Clearly the chef was very experienced in Sunday roast. The tables and seats were clean. The toilet too. The service was great. Quiet side of Cambridge town centre. Just not sure about the cauliflower side......

Location is perfect. Food is decent & reasonably priced. Service nothing short of outstanding. Only complaint the toilet was foul smelly on my visit. Nonetheless, recommended.

Absolute gem in the centre of Cambridge though food did take a downturn a few years ago it has come back with a vengeance. Best pie and fish in chips for mills. It is rare nowadays to find a pub that can execute all the simple things, food ale and service so well. I usually just vote with my feet but this time credit where credit is due; best pub in the middle of town with especially good Guinness, no competition.

Came to Cambridge a group of 6 of us this weekend, had a wander about and ended up at the mill. Walked in tried to order a few drinks just for the man behind the bar in a very nice christmas ju.per just say no you can only have these. So found so.ethi g we would all drink from very few choices. After sitting at a sticky table for a few mins a couple of us ladies needed to use the bathroom, we'll what a mess toilet roll all over the floor floors were soaking wet don't wanna think about what it could of been, there was a crack in one of the toilet seats, and the smell oh wow. Safe to say we had the one drink and left. Can't comment on the food as didn't eat and didn't see any go out. Such a shame as the pub itself is full of character and could be such a cosy little place but unfortunately we will not be returning.

La ventaja es que es bang en el centro de la ciudad. La comida era abundante y delicioso. Los menús de Navidad son difíciles de hacer bien, pero este marcó todas las casillas. You order a beer to drink outside and you drink it right on the Cam River.

I was there on 21 November. It was nice place. After hard working day I was able to get a good meal in the evening. I tag the the Mill in my instagram. @atieh_student_advisor

Perfect pub to go to make a pint of cider or beer.

The smell in the toilets was awful, put me off eating there.

Sunday lunch Very poor service food serviced lukewarm and and the people I was with didn't get their food at the same time.

There are many things to like about this pub but their Mill Burger is not one of them. I do not exaggerate that it was the most disgusting burger I’ve ever tasted. Instead of cheese it was filled with a bizarre mayonnaise, I suspect in an effort to make the ingredients as cheap as possible. Wow. Yuck.

Fun pub and yummy lunch. We had BLT and the signature burger. Thank you for your hospitality.

Bonito pub antiguo y buena ubicación junto al río. Una comida horrible. Pedimos una cena asada en el bar y para cuando me había sentado de nuevo dos de nuestras comidas estaban siendo traídas. Esto hizo sonar las alarmas cuando parecía que la comida había estado sentada esperando. También hacía calor y la carne asada era dura como las botas viejas, y tenía grandes bordes grasos gruesos. Las verduras eran grises y poco inspiradoras y la salsa estaba fría. La siguiente comida para nuestra fiesta salió 35 minutos después y la comida final fue de 10 minutos más. Encuentro que las cenas asadas pueden ser un poco acertadas y fallidas, y muchas no son tan buenas en comparación con una cocinada en casa, pero esto fue particularmente malo. Había dos parejas sentadas detrás de nosotros y los escuché quejándose de la comida. Es una pena, ya que es una buena ubicación del pub y la cerveza Wherry ale era buena, pero realmente necesitan mejorar su juego cuando se trata de la comida.

Nice pub but no non-alcoholic beers available which is surprising

Sticky table syndrome. The staff member who served me was sharp and lacked attentiveness, spilling beer after serving without any thoughts to top up, she turned away before she placed the beer on the bar top! Food was okay.

It was a bittersweet experience, the staff was nice, the dishes were delicious but me and my friends waited for the food for more than 25 minutes and one of the dishes we ordered was incorrect, so we had to wait 15 additional minutes.

Estuve aquí con mi familia para visitar Cambridge por el día y pensé que sería bueno ir a este pub como se encuentra justo al lado de la estación de barcos. Así que pedimos bebidas, pero mi mango Sidra no estaba gaseosa en absoluto, luego regresó para reemplazar o cambiar mi bebida, pero me dijeron groseramente que tengo que pagar por otra bebida, ya que hice preferencia personal, que no estaba hecho si la sidra estaba libre de gas como cerveza ale. No soy exigente, pero a veces las cosas necesitan ser contadas, ya que no quiero que otras personas sean tratadas como yo. Espero que el gerente o propietario haga algo para que esto no le suceda a otros que yo futuro. Gracias

The food is bland, tasteless, no flavor, the presentation is horrible… I don't recommend the food here. The table next to us ordered hamburgers and the bread was burnt… the place is beautiful and cozy but their food is terrible.

Only came in for a quick drink before our punting but could have stayed a lot longer. Lovey pub and even lovelier Barman 🥰 was great to have a little chat about punting and the weather haha.

Came for a lovely day out in Cambridge - stopped off at this pub for some drinks male bar staff were so rude. This was at 3 o’clock today. Totally ruins the vibe and atmosphere. We were going to have food but thought we would eat elsewhere, where we are more appreciated. Would not return.

Great little pub in Cambridge, right next to the river. Very friendly, polite and helpful staff. And a great selection of beers and ales, and great food.

I ordered a duck breast that was beyond criticism, horrible in taste, presentation and even the smell was horrible. I didn't eat anything.

Food was poor 🥴. They did ask how the meal was and I said unedible. And she walked away she told me she'd let the kitchen know. 🤷

Came to The Mill this evening to have a drink and a meal but left as soon as I saw a staff member coughing all over everything and also saw the state of the toilets - loo roll everywhere, sanitary bin overflowing with bloody sanitary products and actually buzzing with flies. Did not trust the hygiene in the kitchen so left. Despite seemingly a million staff, everyone was distracted. Disappointing.

We went to the Mill on our small visit to Cambridge and we all ordered burgers with fries. Good proportions but quite pricey. The “low” rating comes because we ordered and it took more than 30 mins to get our food. Plus they gave us only 2 burgers and the other 2 later so they were cold

It was an utterly dreadful evening for my family and me. The individual serving us exhibited an appalling lack of decorum, audibly directing an offensive remark at another customer who is from different ethinicity . The comment, "Here is the f***ing old man," was clearly aimed at the gentleman who, in fact, appeared to be in his thirties and was with his partner, who was standing on the other side of the bar and listened what was been mentioned. On such a busy night, when there is no queuing system, it is reasonable to expect some attempt at eye contact to facilitate service. Though they sat outside the pub, It was profoundly uncomfortable to witness the distress caused to this couple, who seemed to be a respectable pair. The humiliation they experienced was palpable. It is evident that the YOUNG BAR STAFF require training to curb their inappropriate commentary about customers, especially not within earshot of everyone present. This experience has entirely soured my view of this pub. I shan't be returning to a pub where customers are so undervalued and the staff behave as though they are superior, believing they can say anything they please at full volume.

Nice-looking pub near the river but without any seating outside. Service was pleasant and a great choice of beers, but the food was poor (bland chicken burger and fish finger sandwich, not very good chips) and there was some dreadful music blaring out – like a Simple Minds bootleg with the same four songs in a loop. We had to leave it was so bad! You can get plastic glasses to take drinks outside to the river, which is recommended to avoid the music inside.

BEWARE! went in and ordered a pint of neck oil and a glass of pimms, and was charged £18! It was only after I checked when leaving I saw it! Have tried to contact the pub but they don’t answer the phone or Facebook messages! Check and confront before paying as they make the prices up at the til! Would not Recommend this place

Typical British pub - disgusting food , slow service , no taste . Sometimes I wonder .. what’s the point of running a business ? Close it and move to the Carribean . Useless

Pretty cool pub. Good food. Sadly no outdoors, but they do well by offering plastic cups to takeaway so you can sit in the park across the river. Nachos were all right - the arvo isn't fresh. The pulled pork is definitely needed as an addition. The salon sandwich tasty. Good beer options, 8 cask beers and 8 beers on tap. Worth a pub stop. Cool interiors.

Friendly service even during busy times and a great atmosphere. It would be nice if you could include a few more no alcohol or low alcohol options. Although we didn’t eat, the table beside us mentioned how good their food was, so I guess we’ll be back to try it for ourselves!

The Mill looked like a nice place to relax with a few friends & a few drinks 🍻😄 Sadly I was working so I couldn't partake in any of the Pub's beverages or food. Maybe next time.

The staff needs to focus on what we order and what we provide you. As a place for a short rest and consumption after a walk around Cambridge it is good.

We just went for drinks a little while back. The pub is nice and cosy but I must mention the unprofessionalism of one of the staff. A female bar tender may have been on her break but was at the bar, another customer was waiting to be served. She might have just been serving and decided that she would stay at the front, on her phone- she continued to ignore the customer, she even glanced at him, not a word or to call someone else over. Poor customer service and if you don't want to be bothered on your break, stay away from the bar. Training of these young people is much to be desired.

Food took 45mins to arrive and orders were either incomplete or entirely wrong. Tried to pass off a salad as a veggie kebab. Leaves were rotten. Drink was good, no Sunday lunch as advertised.

I picked this place for dinner because the reviews were decent, but was very disappointed - by both the food and the service. My wife ordered the chicken, which was quite good - although very spicy. I ordered the burger. My wife’s chicken arrived, so she began to eat. I could here the kitchen ring the bell many times, signifying that my burger was ready. But there was a football game on the tv so no one wanted to go get my food. The bell rang over and over - louder and louder - multiple times. Still no one left the tv. Eventually, about 20 minutes after my wife was done eating, and the game was at half time, one of the 4/5 waiters/bartenders went to the kitchen. As expected, my food was cold. But worse than cold, the burger itself was bad - and having it be hot would not have saved it. The “meat” was basically hot dog - like, formed in the round shape of a hamburger - but was extremely low quality. I had a few cold fries to take the bad taste off the “mystery meat” from my mouth, and we left and I got some take away elsewhere. Overall, a horrific experience.

Super nice atmosphere, with a wonderful view! The employees are super friendly! I had to ask for a new dose because it was too spicy and they were super affordable.

Sitting outdoors is great- indoors less so, but it was insanely expensive. We got a pimms and a spiced rum and Diet Coke - it was more than £18 for just those two drinks. Still, it’s nice that they sell drinks you can have out on on the grass!

Having been ignored a while by the bar staff, the person in front of me tried to order a mojito and was told the only available cocktail was the Aperol Spritz. I then approached the bar to ask if the kitchen was still serving to be told no… at 8pm on a sunny Saturday evening. Ridiculous. Will not be returning.

Indifferent service. Overpriced food. Esp the calamari starter. 7£ for like 6 tiny strips of frozen calamari. Ugh. Fish and chips for I think 14£ was OK. Wouldn't return.

It's perfect for grabbing a beer at take away and having it in the park across the street when it's nice. The bathrooms are good but the water in the sink is boiling, I put soap on my hands and then I couldn't take it off because the tap water was boiling

Convenient place to get a drink & watch people punt on the river

Came in for a pint after the boats. Good atmosphere and warm. The staff was friendly. The place was clean. The food smelled great. Dogs are allowed.

Perfect if you're looking for a relaxed and friendly pub for a pint and an easy bite to eat.

Appalling service- they cancelled our booking for 8 people (Work Trip) an hour before via email which we didn’t see. When we arrived they said due to staff illness they had a limited menu but if we found a table to sit at we could still order. We did just that- and then when we went to order we got told we couldn’t have any food and only drinks. They were not sympathetic at all and tbh looked like they didn’t want to serve our large group- won’t be recommending them to anyone in the future

A great location but some of the worst pub food I have ever eaten. Bland, tasteless and bordering on the repulsive- (Chicken tenders and salt & pepper squid). The pub was also empty yet dirty plates sat on the adjacent table for 20 mins. Very disappointing.

The Mill sits alongside the River Cam and is a classic drop off point for punting or for walking along the river if near to the Trumpington or Silver Street areas. It’s a compact pub so was not a regular inside drinking haunt in my undergraduate days but it is a very distinctive pub. Its neighbour the Anchor is rather larger so is probably busier but during the summer the Mill is thronged outside on to the Green which connects Mill Lane with the Granta side of the common. I hadn’t been to the pub in probably a decade so when I went in last week was a trip down memory lane. First impressions were positive - bar area is clean and there was a wide range of beer available - well kept and served so a good start to the experience. My friend (another Cambridge alumnus) and I lunched here. He had a burger and I had sausage and mash. Both classics but well cooked and served competently with delay kept to a minimum. Even though arguably it’s ’out of season’ that’s by no means a guarantee of good service in these post COVID times. Only thing that precludes five stars is it is pricey, especially for beer but that’s arguably a function of questionable Government policy re: alcohol and the expense of the area. A very positive experience and would definitely recommend

Well. It has been almost a year. And with expectations set high I brought 3 family members to sample the Sunday roast. And The Mill did not disappoint. Coping well with our requests. The Mill is a customer orientated pub. The roast beef with the veg and sides was superlative. And what is it about The Mill gravy? It is something special. We were very happy with the service and the food. This is a real Cambridge Town pub. There is nothing like it. As to the menu: There is something for every age and persuasion. Glad we came back. Keep doing what you are doing. See you soon.

45 mins for food to arrive. Food was hot but dry at the top so very likely microwaved or sat at the pass for most of the 45 mins.

Nice location by the river, plenty of character, not loads of room but if you can find a table then it's a win.

Nice food and beer in a great location in Cambridge close to the river. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere is great.

Went with my family today, ordered 4 drinks at the bar was told to find a table for food. We did, I went to tell the bar staff the number, lady said we don’t do table service. Only half our drinks were done so went back to choose food, returned with food order, asked for a tray for drinks, that seemed too much but a member of staff did help bring two to the table. Waited 30 Mins for food, for 3 of the 4 mains to eventually show up. We were told daughters fish and chips would be a min or 2. After 5 mins of waiting I asked and they said it would be a bit longer, after 15 mins I asked again and it turned out it hadn’t been cooked they had completely forgotten it. When it did turn up the fish was very definitely on the turn so not good to eat. My chicken was so over cooked in places I couldn’t even cut it. No one asked if anything was ok. Staff totally disinterested and borderline rude. We had already paid - that was all they were interested in. We walked out leaving half eaten food behind as it was so ropey. Never again! I should have worked out what we were in for when the bar staff completely ignored us and continued to poke an I pad when we first walked in.
