Had a great lunch here when we were out on a cycle. There were 12 of us and the staff didn't bat an eyelid. Terrific choice of tasty food, friendly service, good portion sizes and great value. The cake choice was amazing. Would really recommend the Milk Barn, especially for families as they have a super outdoor playpark.

We’ve visited The Milk Barn numerous times with no issues since it first opened. However when we visited this week before the schools went back as a treat for the kids., we were met with a very bad attitude. And that was from the manager! When you first enter the restaurant there is a stand which will either have a sign telling you to find a table, or a staff member. When we arrived there was neither, instead we were faced with a manager mouthing off about how stupid customers were because they were just standing at the front door and not just finding a seat. What she was unaware of was that there indeed was no sign, her staff had piled bits and pieces on the stand instead. So there was no clear indicator to tell us what to do. Instead of asking us to find a table, she started mouthing off to her staff, all of which turned to look at us, as well as the people in the restaurant already. We were planning on staying for lunch and an ice cream for the kids, instead I spent as little as possible for the kids and we sat outside. The manager ended up serving us and couldn’t have been nicer, the kind of nice when you know you’ve done something wrong but are faced with the person you were rude to. I sent a complaint into the Facebook page and was ignored, then when I messaged again I started receiving messages from someone pretending to be the owner. Having had conversations with the owner Susannah before, I asked to arrange to come and meet the owner to resolve the issue. This was continually ignored confirming that someone was indeed pretending to be the owner. I’m assuming this was either the manager that caused the issue or a random member of staff trying to hide the situation. Whatever the case, it’s surprising and pretty shocking that this is how they are acting and dealing with their customers. The owner used to care about service. It’s a shame as the milk barn used to be very good with okay service, it was never amazing but wasn’t this poor. To have staff try to cover up a complaint by pretending to be the owner is pretty unreal but based on the conduct of the staff when we were there it’s not completely unexpected. If you end up visiting I’m sure you’ll have an okay time, the foods okay and the ice creams good, it can be quite expensive for what you get. But god forbid you stand at the front door and wait for a member of staff to do their job and help you find a seat as you’ll be embarrassed and ridiculed for it. I’m assuming my complaint will continue to be ignored and brushed under the carpet, I’m sure they are regulated by someone but I’ll be posting a complaint through the owners front door to ensure she’s aware of what her staff are doing.

We stayed at an Airbnb nearby and visited the Milk Barn 3 times in our 4 days in the area! Lovely food, coffee & ice creams. My boys enjoyed the bouncy pillow, swings and we had a football with us to use with the net. Lovely scenery around the farm. Yes, food is a tad on the pricey side but eating out is these days? We had breakfast here the morning of our journey back home - the portions both adult and Children’s were big! The ice cream portions/scoops were also generous. It’s a good job really I don’t live locally otherwise I would have no money and be the size of a house!!!

On a wet Sunday you used to que for a table but not anymore. The prices have increased and the quality has decreased and the heating was off making the barn cold. Nearly £4 for one sausage and a couple of slices of toast!!! What used to be a firm family favourite for lunch is now just somewhere to visit for an ice cream.

Ab Fab!We went while in the area with our little one.Lovely hot dog and skinny fries👍Observed some lovely snacks and meals coming out. Busy, with a variety of folks and kids enjoying snacks and coffee. We also had a lovely slice of caramel shortbread. What was especially noted was a really nice team of staff who managed the masses no problem. Our little one loved the small kids play area at the front…….but much credit to the people making the Halloween 🎃 themed ice cream ,it was sooooo well thought out, with a perfectly spookily design .The attention to stuff like chocolate 👀 balls …spooky ghost….and his favourite (although not Halloween connected) a mini Incredible Hulk flexing his muscles in the mint choc chip! So we say lovely food .Reasonable prices .Genuine attention to detail.

After a cheeky response on google, thought it was only fair to post across all media now about this place. Firstly, coming to the "milk barn" we were expecting to be able to buy milk... how wrong we were with that assumption considering the place doesnt sell milk. (Your commment on google says that its illegal to sell raw milk in scotland, I fail to see where my comment states anything about buying raw milk? Theres milk vending machines etc all over scotland now providing fresh milk, surely you can do this?) We considered having some lunch, but the prices are just funny. £4.40 for a soup and over £8 for a sandwich/panini? Thats a joke, completly got put off buying food. (Your comment about this being no joke that you ened to amke money is not funny. You have customer after customer saying that your sandwiches are far too expensive. Maybe actually listen to customers instead of providing cheeky remarks) So instead, decided to try some ice cream. Got the white chocolate and fudge along with the oreo. Both were mediocre at best. Ice cream was more ice than cream, the flavours themselves were boring. Ie white chocolate and fudge was literally just vanilla ice cream, with callebaut white chocolate pieces and fudge pieces. Just not good enough for these prices. But the biggest issue about the oce cream was how its served. Why why why give me a tiny cup and then overload it with ice cream?? Our hands were covered with ice cream streaming down the tub. This was extremely uncomfortable. Why not just give me a bigger tub and make it comfortable for the customer?? (Again owner provided a cheeky response telling to ask the staff to serve less ice cream.... The problem isnt with the portion, it is with the fact you serve it in a tiny tub and overfill it stupidly that it all runs down the side of the tub. Just bloody listen to criticism instead of making fun of a cutsomers geuine complaint) Word of advice for the owners. Set up a farm shop style and i feel that you would earn alot more revenue. Sell MILK to start with, sell eggs, make it more of a well rounded experience for the customer. Your lack of understanding and listening to customers is quite worrying. I really hope this is a bad day for you and that you may actually look at some of the comments you have and implement changes. Also seems like you delete reviews on some platforms which is never promising for a business.

So many ice creamflavours to choose from (tablet, rum and raisin, captain america, smurf's blue bubblegum, caramel shortbread, white chocolate and salted caramel, toffee, vanilla, raspberry ripple, ferrero rocher, double chocolate, summer sorbet,strawberry.... kid's cones are only £1.25 and are full of ice cream! A fudge finger or flake is 40p extra and you can get wafer cones, chocolate wafer cones and tubs too. Limited food menu otherwise and lacked any main meals. No salads or burgers and any chicken dish was mixed with a sauce or mayo (we prefer plain). The location is beautiful and facilities brilliant. They have a bouncing pillow and play area. Had a great lunch with my nearly 5 year old daughter. Portion sizes are great value for money as she had a children’s sausage, beans and bread which was ample size. My cooked breakfast was a treat as I got two rashers of bacon, two sausages (I went for one link and one lorne), black pudding, egg, tattie scones and beans. You get a glass of OJ and pot of brew as well. Bargain! What was most impressive was the ice cream portions. A two scoop tub was generous and far more than you’d get elsewhere. So many great flavours to choose from and don’t discount the old favourites which are supreme. To add to my feast, I treated my wife to a takeaway Christmas cupcake which she said was the best cupcake she’s tasted plus the tablet I bought for her work colleagues got them asking where I’d bought them from. Wonderful service, atmosphere and facilities for the kids - particularly the small indoor play area for kids which gives them something to do if they can’t use the outdoor kids areas due to weather. If I lived any closer I’d put on weight by coming back time and time again! Make sure you stop by soon.

We are a family of 5 and love the milk barn! Fab ice cream and treats which are all reasonably priced. Plus a wee indoor and outdoor play area to distract the kids for half an hour. We literally ate there at least twice a month. Today we went and are told that it’s now £3 per child for the jumping pillow and £1.50 for adults!!!! What on earth??? So now a family trip which used to cost about £12-15 incl a 30min play now costs £24-27 because they get to jumpOn a bouncing pillow!! Well I think we’ll just use that money in future to go to soft play or a farm park because at least then they’ll get a few hours out of it! Very disappointed

We visited The Milk Barn on Saturday for the first time and I can only say that I'm really glad we did. It was very busy - only to be expected on a beautiful sunny Autumn Saturday. This place has a unique location with panoramic views over the surrounding farmland, and has a lively happy atmosphere. Lots of playthings for the kids, indoors and out, with a superb adventure playground outside with tables beside it for a nice day. Don't expect a quiet secluded meal as there are lots of kids, but we loved it and can't wait to take our grandchildren there next time they visit from Norway.

Occasionally, when we get a few moments of down-time at work I'll nip out and grab ice creams for my colleagues from The Milk Barn. The choice of flavours on offer is always great and varies from visit to visit so there's often something new to try if like me you make repeated visits. My favourite has long been their chocolate ice cream but the "Pure Moo" is as good as anything I've tasted since my own father stopped making ice cream eleven years ago.

Now we're talking, this is my type of place to eat when I need cheering up. 2nd time visited and both times the food has been top-notch. The panini's are lovely and all the ingredients fresh. And then there is the ice cream! Couldn't possibly do it justice in words so my advice is to go there and try it for yourself. We have family coming up soon and we will be taking them here for sure.

I went with my wife and two of my grown up daughters on fathers day afternoon for an ice cream treat to the milk barn. It is always a busy place and the ice cream is excellent. The servers were quick and polite and the large queue was quickly served. The strawberry ice cream was excellent but so was the fresh strawbery and raspberry. Oh yes and the tablet ice cream was really good too. The portion size is pretty decent and good value. Although we are "grown ups" its not difficult to see that kids love this place and with the play area outside there are things for youngsters to do to keep them interested. We will be back.

The best strawberry ice cream ever. We all four of us had a banana long boat..... could not have enjoyed it more..... the staff were great as was the ice cream. The only thing I would say is that if they used fresh cream it would have been even better. Thank you ladies

So we decided to head to the Milk Barn today for some ice cream and milk shakes. On arrival we queued for a table which is fair enough given it's been a lovely hot day. However we then had to queue to place our order and because we wanted ice cream we then also had to queue up to get that (the cashier just tells you to take the receipt). So THREE queues! We ordered 2 maxi sized milkshakes too that should have been served in an old fashioned milk bottle type jar to us (based on what was shown as size examples at the till). However when they eventually came (15 mins later) they were served in plastic disposable cups which clearly weren't the same size as the examples (and were left with about an inch of air before the lid) I let it go because I'd no intention of queuing for a fourth time! Taste wise, the milkshakes were so-so. Yes they contained milk, but can't help but feel they were flavoured with syrups rather than real fruit! It's a shame because the setting is nice, it's very clean and the ice cream at least, was good. But I can't get over the silly ordering process and poor quality and far from cheap £3.80 milkshakes. A simple order at had till and have it brought to you would be much better.Doubtful we'll be back. These places are springing up all over the place so plenty of alternative choices.

Love going to The Milk Barn. There is always a good selection of food and drink and of course cake and ice cream too! My niece loves the play park outside and watching the cows in the field. Staff are lovely and the service is great

A great venue for children with play areas inside and out. Bright and spacious and of course a huge selection of freshly made ice cream. Unbeatable.

They have a wide variety of ice cream, which won't disappoint. However, the only disappointment stems from the service. It is often very slow, despite appearing to have ample staff.

Went there with my partner for a bit of lunch but clearly this is a place for families, although still good to go for a bite to eat even if you don't have children !! Small menu which is always a good thing in my book as the larger the menu the worse the qualitygets. We ordered two paninis, and a couple of teas. This place is known for their ice-cream and Im a professional Gelatiere so I never miss the opportunity to try the gelato. I have to say the density of the ice cream is perfect which means you are not paying for air as the thicker the ice cream the less air it has in it, so you know you are getting a good product, yeah i would make a couple of small changes to the ice cream but overall a really good product, nice surroundings, good atmosphere, really friendly staff, good food, will be going back for sure.

We booked for sunday lunch recently. You dont really need to book as you can mainly just walk in and get a table except at the busiest times but we had one of their cards that gives 10% off if you book so we did! The carvery was our choice and I have to say it was a really lovely meal. Choice of steak pie, vegetable pie, roast beef, roast ham or chicken breast with ample supplies of roast and boiled potatoes, cauliflower cheese and a host of other veg all helped down by a tasty gravy ( with a veggie option) and a couple of tasty yorkshire puddings. Well satisfied, we were glad we hadnt had a starter although we had been tempted! The staff were so friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for you. The surroundings have been refurbished and are pleasant and comfortable and the tables are far enough apart that you are not in everyone elses conversation. This was our first visit to Harveys but it wont be the last. Good honest tasty food, great service and very resonable prices. You should try it, they deserve to succeed in business.

Waiting for meals for over 30 minutes. Other tables served. Meal obviously warmed up, hot outside, cold inside. Returned meal, refund issued, did not require any replacement meal. Soft drinks ordered and arrived just before we left. Issues with time waiting on bill

This chef can cook! Restaurant can be very warm if the sun is shine and can be blinding if you sit in the wrong position. I tried the chicken terrine was was ok but not the best. The steak and haggis pie is to die for as are the chef’s soups of the day. Breakfast in the main was fine however bacon too salty and had better potato scones but the best poached eggs ever. The food in this restaurant is the highlight of the hotel and would recommend eating there if your staying or passing.

Ate here for 4 nights whilst away with work. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Food was good, some dishes better than others, I had the lamb shoulder, beef burger, steak and a sea food linguine. The steak was ok but really overpriced and served on a Wetherspoons style plate, one sorry looking mushroom and tomato served up with it! The Burger was tasty if a little underdone (no issue for me but maybe check people are ok with served pink!) The lamb was amazing. Seafood linguine wasn’t to my taste. Deserts had plenty of choice but only the sticky toffee did it for me, the rest were mediocre and seemed defrosted. Again expensive for what they are. Atmosphere was ok each night, didn’t spend long in there. I wouldn’t say it’s got a lot of charisma about it though! 4/5 all in as the staff where great!
