The Mexican in Exmouth is a family favourite. Great service, great food and competitive pricing. The menu is extensive and satisfied even the pickiest children

Beautiful dish, freshly prepared and delicious. We have Enchiladas with beef mince (chilli con carne). Not to spicy and perfectly seasoned. Big portion, I have not managed to finish mine. Very friendly staff, and speedy service. Opening times shown here may not be correct as we have been dining at 13:00. Very affordable prices, including good choice of drinks.

My daughter and I dined here whilst on holiday. A varied choice on the vast menu. Great service. Fabulous atmosphere. Food served hot and very tasty. We really enjiyed all aspects of our evening. Thank you.

Exmouth best mussels, I'm not sure if there locally sourced, either way for us there definitely the tastiest. Other good food is available catered to your prefered amount of heat and spice if requested. Reasonably priced , good food with excellent service.

Dropped in at 8pm on a Saturday night. Seated straight away and the food was amazing!! Great place 👍

We visited this Mexican in Exmouth Centre , it was a late decision but they fitted us in despite having a very large party booking and we were very pleasantly surprised. We had lovely food and excellent service from very lovely helpful, polite staff .They even made us special cocktails they didnt have on their menu ,which were really lovely. Nothing was too much trouble, we had a lovely evening there , definitely recommend this restaurant

This was our second time here having found it open at the end of January when we last visited Exmouth. Great service, great food, good sized portions at reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the evening and would not hesitate to recommend!

Love the atmosphere here, we go quite frequently. The food is good, and service is great. We were a party of 7 last time, but it made no difference. Everyone was served promptly and all the food was well cooked. Won't be long before we go again.

Came here for first time last week food was gorgeous

Felt rushed and not very busy at 8.30pm on a Friday evening. The food was pleasant especially the king prawn starter.

Came here with my partner for a birthday meal, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was amazing! It was really good value, we will definitely be returning.

Busy (good sign) Mexican restaurant. Obviously popular with locals, many of whom appeared to be regulars. Good variety on the menu, helpful and attentive staff. Food arrived quickly, good sized portions and very tasty. Highly recommend if you like Mexican food.

Went in there today at lunch time 3.8.24 with partner visiting exmouth from Barnstaple had the Jimmy changers sausage and veg one they were amazing great food great service will visit again when visiting thanks guys

Such a great place to eat. All the staff were super friendly, they all said hello as we walked in. The food was EXCELLENT and it was really affordable. So glad we found this place- will definitely be returning with friends and family 😊

Had lunch here with my wife. We both had the devilled mushrooms to start and whilst the flavours were really good, the sauce was very watery and the temperature of the mushrooms varied greatly. Some were hot and some were barely warm. A sign of uneven microwave re-heating. We had chimichangas for our mains and they were okay but nothing special. Hence just an average rating of three.

Great food sadly was very busy so the service felt a little rushed but would still highly recommend

Had walked by many times wondering what it was like! Went for dinner in April to find out Service was excellent and food superb; will definitely go back. They should consider allowing Blue Light card discount as a number of other local restaurants do

The steak, nachos, fajitas and the mango juice was amazing . Whenever we visit Exmouth we always eat at this fantastic restaurant. The owner is so helpful and friendly and works incredibly hard to make sure our experience is excellent. Highly recommended.

As a three generation family we head here for a meal everytime we come to Exmouth on holiday. Every time the meals have been beautiful, generous portions and friendly and efficient service. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to other family members and friends. Thank you everyone.

My brother-in-law and his wife recently visited this restaurant and thoroughly recommended it. So, last Wednesday, I ordered a takeaway online for 2. We had the brochetta and the spicy prawn fajitas. The dishes came with salad, soft tortillas and sauces. The food was freshly prepared and came in a very decent sized portion. Everything tasted really good, was reasonably priced and the service was excellent. I have no doubt that we will be back both for takeout and eat-in in the near future. We’ve lived in Exmouth for 10 years and have often thought about “the Mexican place”, but never got around to trying it. I’m glad we’ve put that situation right.

Really like this place it's informal and quite relaxing. I was there for my Birthday with the family and we all enjoyed our meals.we have been several times over the years and it's been consistently good. Would definitely recommend.

Our meal with the family at The Mexican in Exmouth was really lovely. The food is very tasty, served promptly. It was really busy and to get food out like that on a Friday night was impressive. My Margarita cocktail was just what I needed and perfectly done! My spicy prawn starter was great even though there were only 4 prawns. Enough for one each! We shared nachos too for a starter and there was a lot! Can't win hey. The lady when asked for the bill was a little rude and aggressively stacked the plates but I didn't care as my cocktail made up for it and I laughed it off. I'd be like that on a Friday night too. Very fast though and I gave a good tip.

Went for valentines night, booked a table for 7.00pm Food good, but felt it was just another evening out, nothing to celebrate valentines, felt rushed through the whole meal, staff dress code very poor, after asking for bill, had a waitress watching over us with new cutlery waiting to relay table while there was plenty of empty tables, so not to say that they were waiting for our table, will not be returning.

A great place to eat, perfect for larger parties, large outdoor eating area under the stars, so romantic 💖.

Another excellent meal at The Mexican. Although we are not huge fans of very spicy foods we have always found the food here very tasty and just enough spicyness to tickle our tastebuds! This visit we had a lamb burritos which was full of tender tasty lamb, and the special tuna in white wine and peppercorn sauce. Service was very prompt and friendly. The restaurant is quite large and spacious and at this time of year quite empty - only 14 covers whist we were there. Didn’t put us off at all and we will always pay a visit when in Exmouth.

Food was nice, not a big menu, service was fantastic. Resturant is a little run down, but has a oldi worldy feel to it with art work and paintings. Bill was reasonable.

Wanted to spend our valentines evening last night here, but after walking through the square with all other bars and restaurants with red balloons and roses on the tables, we were both disappointed with the Mexican who looks like they don’t celebrate this day, You would just think that it was a busy Saturday evening, again the food was good, but we felt very rushed, staff wearing crocks and tee shirts ( not very professional) At the end of the evening while putting our coats on, the waitress was stood next to our table with fresh cutlery and napkins waiting to relay our table, while there was other empty tables and no one waiting for a table didn’t seem right, Very disappointed, and will not look to book another romantic meal here again.

Wanting to enjoy a family celebration, we decided to try something new and settled on visiting The Mexican in Exmouth. Our first taste of Mexican cuisine, and pleased to say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The restaurant was surprisingly large, service was spot-on and the food well presented and very tasty. Will definitely be dining out there in future.

This is clearly a much loved and popular restaurant. We were really excited to go as we are big Mexican food fans. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is nice. The food was ok. It felt like an English persons idea of what Mexican food is. The favours just weren't there.

One word: Bland! My mother-in-law had the Mexican Sweet Chicken dish and it just didn't have any flavour. I had the vegetable fajitas which appear to have been steamed or barely cooked, with some slightly spicy sauce on them. All very bland. My daughter had a pizza which had cheddar cheese rather than mozzarella and it wasn't very pleasant. My husband had the lamb burrito which was very bland. Not what we expected for a Mexican restaurant which should be full of flavour!

The food was a bit hit and miss mine was great but my friends chicken was hard and overcooked We were told the only table for 8 was at 7pm however there was only one other table of customers in the entire restaurant With a couple of walk ins at 9:30 just as we were leaving Such a shame as our last visit was 10/10 for everyone I would go back and give it another try

I had my 60th Birthday celebration at The Mexican the day before New year. There were 30 of us including 4 children. Each courses came out at the same with no one having to wait. The food was fantastic and the service was 👏

We had the fabulous fillet steak this evening,, cooked to perfection , all the trimmings and first class service from Ella. Very reasonably priced. See you soon 😊

Bit stuck for our first choices ( having not booked ) but were found a table here. Nice enough menu but we probably picked the wrong dishes. Burritos were under cooked - to the point of cold - and pretty tasteless. Service was sharp and everyone seemed happy enough - both staff and customers. Well priced and drinks not excessive

Visited tonight for the 1st time. Meal was outstanding. Steak was melt in your mouth, cooked perfectly. Waitress was brilliant, food came in a reasonable time. Couldn't fault if we tried. Will 100% return.

I have no idea how this restaurant has such good reviews given the food is so naff. Really nice venue/staff; just immensely uninspiring food. It's the type of thing you'd expect to see on an average episode of Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares or something. If grilling half a bag of grated mozzarella from Lidl on top of a tortilla is considered authentic "mexican" these days then god help us all

This restaurant has gone from strength to strength. The quality and quantity of the main meals is outstanding. We’ve been visiting for over 25 years and it has only improved year on year. Always busy which says it all. Menu is outstanding choice and you only have to ask if there’s a potential problem ie, gluten free etc. will continue to frequent this busy restaurant with their amazing efficient staff, particularly Annie, who is just one of the restaurant’ s long-standing serving staff. Well done as always. 🥵

Nice staff and good Mexican food.

We just went to the Mexican restaurant and we were very disappointed. The food is not authentic and quite overpriced. If you never eaten Mexican food it is impossible to tell the difference. We ordered mini chicken bites from the children's menu for my grandson. Only 4 super mini bites overcooked/ nearly burned. He didn't eat them. In general the food was average, nothing special. The only good thing was the Corona beer. I would not recommend this restaurant!

Have to say this is the best Mexican we have been too, great menu and food to die for, good selection of drinks, service was exceptional. highly recommend lamb stew burrito.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. The owners put on a good show! We haven't had a bad visit/meal yet and we've been loads. The food is of a high standard. Great service. Love it!

First visit to The Mexican, it will not be our last. The service was excellent and the food was superb. Very good selection of seafoods, vegetarian and vegan on the menu. The char-grill selection was extensive and varied. We will be recommending the restuarant to our guests in the future.

What a fabulous place, the service, the food and the staff were amazing. The menu has a great selection, especially with two fussy children. We had starters and mains and they were delicious. I had the Duck and it was cook to perfection. We will definitely be going back. Thank you the Mexican.

The head waitress literally runs up and down the restaurant knocking chairs over, very stressful atmosphere. Plates taken away before others have finished eating. Devil mushrooms in-edable as to hot. Not enjoyable at all

Now we have been coming to this restaurant for a number of years, and every time we come back the food is truly special. Upon this visit Ela the owner went above and beyond, we arrived after making a reservation and upon arrival I was greeted with her singing happy b'day, and a table set up with birthday/Xmas card and party napkins! My better half had not arranged this so we were both surprised it was a very nice touch, all through the evening Ela and the team couldn't do enough for us even cooking a fish dish specially for me, and it was awesome, what an truly special evening me and my partner had and it will never be forgotten... If you go to Exmouth at any point even if it's for a weekend please go into the Mexican for a meal every dish is stunning and they always have a specials menu, and try the Mexican ice-cream it's on another level, trust us it is the best mexican food we have had period, and as for all the team my review speaks for itself. We will be back........

We visit here every time we go to Exmouth. Great food, lovely staff and a lovely buzzing atmosphere. Also great value for money. I would recommend to anyone wanting delicious food.

Thought we would try the Mexican whilst staying in the area. Disappointed. Menu states cooked from fresh. We ordered Chicken enchiladas and Combo, chicken wings, ribs with nachos. Food arrived at our table within 5 mins, obviously not cooked fresh then. Enchilada and ribs/chicken swimming...

The best Mexican restaurant in Devon. Extremely lucky to have this restaurant at our door step here in Exmouth that caters for all. The foods are delicious and great choice s. Plates are empty when collected. Refreshing cocktails. Their covered outdoor sitting area is our favourite place to have meals with friends and family especially during the summer. Outdoor heaters are available at each table on the decking for when the weather turns cold. Have had great experience on every visit a happy vibe atmosphere, friendly customer service 🙂

A real shame, we came here for a friend's birthday meal but it didn't live up to the rave reviews. Disappointing food - sauces and dips were tasteless and as if they'd come out of a bottle. Huge random chunks of raw chilli in the side salads. Ribs were grey. 'Tacos' were packet tortillas. Tuna was tasty and well cooked, but the starter portion was miniscule. Adding cheese to a fajita order costs almost £3. I've spent a lot of time in Mexico and I wouldn't call any of this authentic. Cocktails were also flavourless and seemed like there was no alcohol in them. Service was reasonable but mistakes were made. Very odd painting in the ladies "TOILET'OS".

Went here previously in 2019 when visiting Edinburgh and came back late may, the food was as good as I remember and they managed to fit us in when it was really busy and we were a party of 6, best Mexican I have ever...

Great food, portions were HUGE! Great value for money, Staff friendly definitely worth a vist. Only slight disappointment was they don't do churros. Would highly recommend.

Really great food. Lovely staff. Only thing that let them down was us having to remind them a few times to get our drink and we had chips instead of the wedges it said we'd get. But other than that it was great. (They were pretty busy so I don't mind the odd mistake and it really wasn't a big deal.) will definately go again.

Been coming to Exmouth several times a year, for over 6 years, always looked for a nice place to dine, seen this restaurant and although said we should try it never had, till tonight. Wow, what we've been missing! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and food.... What can I say, fresh, bursting with flavour...put a pin in me..we have a caravan on major holiday park down here. We're so impressed we're going to recommend it to our guests...and other owners ... Thank you

We went in Easter to the Mexican restaurant in Easter and we previously went when we last stayed in Exmouth 2021 and the food was just as nice as we remember it was, the service was lovely as well and felt so welcomed there

Wow. What a find ! Real authentic Mexican food. Visited Saturday lunchtime with my family and sat outback in their garden (sunny). Great food that punched a great flavor. We were all happy with our dishes.plus shared a jug of Sangria. Excellent friendly and swift...
