One of mine and my partners favourite Indian Places to eat in Norwich, the food and service is just 10/10. Beautiful flavours, Amazing environment.

Fabulous night and excellent, well balanced, exquisitely flavoured food. Our waitress, Misha, looked after us wonderfully. No wonder it's so popular!

I came to visit with my wife and some of our friends for dinner. The food was very good, and the service, especially from one of our waiting staff (Mishca) was fantastic, she was incredibly helpful and friendly. The only real problem was that it's quite an open restaurant in an old pub, which is an older building, without any soundproofing. This did make it quite loud, which may have not been terrible but there was also an especially loud group of men shouting constantly which meant we did really struggle to hear one another at our table. I'd really suggest the restaurant invest in some sound proofing, maybe even just dividers for tables to help lower the noise, as obviously we don't expect people to eat in silence but it really was loud. Overall a really good experience just let down a bit by that aspect of the atmosphere.

Had a meal here this evening and the whole experience was brilliant. The food was hot, fresh and really tasty. Between myself and my other half we had Prawn puri, tikka paneer, chicken Parsi, lamb biryani and garlic naan. We couldn’t fault any of it, all of the food was beautifully cooked and tasted delicious. Also if you like an IPA try the Bombay bicycle, a great beer. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, a special shout out too misha who looked after us so well.

Seeking a good curry after living in Australia this place hit the mark , topped off with a great host misha .. 10 / 10 from me

Food was absolutely delicious, we have no issues with the restaurant - However no JustEat Driver turned up for the delivery. We waited over an hour and then had to collect it ourselves.

This is our favourite restaurant in Norwich. We try a different curry quite frequently but the staff always have great recommendations for us. The atmosphere is really special and the food and service is always 10/10

Not the cheapest, but one of the tastiest!

Food was good but the order was missing items which was very disappointing.

Absolutely fabulous food. Visiting the area by boat and found this place not far from our moorings. Other half's favourite meal is a curry and so often they just don't compare to our local at home but this one exceeded all expectations. 10/10 for the Calcutta Chicken Naga.

Our delivery was quick, and the food was fantastic. I've never ordered from this restaurant before but i now wont order from anywhere else. The food was delicious and it wasnt heavy or oily like most fast food places. Highly recommend 👌

We had a last minute booking at the weekend. The food was amazing, best Indian I’ve had in Norwich. The service as well was great. Misha especially was helpful with giving recommendations and was the loveliest person, friendly, welcoming and professional. Will definitely return.

Have had many takeaways from this restaurant before but we decided to dine in instead. Obviously the food was excellent as always. The service was really good. One of the waiters 'Mani' was brilliant. What an asset he is to this business. He chatted with us and talked about his family and girlfriend in India. He really was a joy to talk with. What a really nice young man. Great food, Great Service, Great staff.

I had an amazing dining experience at The Merchants of Spice . The Chicken Tikka Masala and naan were absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic flavors. The restaurant itself was spotlessly clean and had a welcoming atmosphere that added to the overall enjoyment. A special mention goes to Manpreet Singh, the manager, who hosted us with great warmth and professionalism. His attention to detail and friendly service truly made the visit memorable. The prices were very fair for the high quality of food and service provided. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a fantastic Indian meal!

Good food as always. Went in early so it was light and not many in so less atmosphere than usual.

The chicken tikka masala was so yummy. I ate the whole thing, even though it was quite heavy for one person. Perfectly cooked and the flavor was amazing. We visited the Norfolk broads and had a trip down here for a takeaway. The food was amazing and I have to say probably the best Indian cuisine I have tasted in a long time. Highly recommend this place and I wish it was in my hometown, I'd be there every week. Absolutely delicious 😋

Food was extremely oily and flavourless. The Paneer tikka was very good however my main’s Paneer tasted like it had been boiled and the inside of the paneer was very wet. The waiters were very kind and did take off a single dish however the main aspect of the meal was not good enough for the price of the meal.

Great curries! Only problem was the garlic naan was missing. but very impressed by the food!

By the reviews its show how local support this restaurant fair play to them but my experience was a sorry disappointment, to start the pilua rice was that of a very low quality its was broken grains you would find in a poundland's supermarket or a cheap Asian market small and uninviting the prawn korma was so sweet (sugar) with excessive coconut border on the lines or rice pudding as the size of prawns on the style of cocktail prawn (tiny) th tika madras again sweet could not detect if was tandoori marinated or not?? A shame as the new wave of young proprietor lost the 1960 's explosion of the Indian takeaway were that generation were steeped in traditional way of cooking....

We came here over 12 years ago I was ill then with chest infection so could not enjoy the food ...so we had a few days away recently so found this restaurant again we often talked about coming back ..it was well worth the visit food excellent 👌 staff very helpful making sure we had everything we needed will definitely be back.

Arrived quite late, was warned that the kitchen was closing in 30 minutes. food arrived hot, nice flavour. Happy with the experience.

Great tasting food with generous portion sizes. Biryani was marvelous with chicken breast that was still perfectly moist despite carry-over cooking in-travel - sign of some excellent marinading or thoughtful cooking. Chicken Naga was very tasty - however mild heat-wise compared to a normal one. Ordered a sauce and got all of them + very solid value Salad. Will definitely order again.

Large party yesterday food and service good. Pricey on drinks and popadoms. Approx. £86 for 1x adult 2xkids. Worked out £0.80 for popadoms and dips. £3.60 lemonade. Keema naan was not so nice too much garlic and not a good colour. We only ordered one each but communication and bill paying in a group was chaos. They need a much better system. Maybe pay as you order and do popadoms and dips free. Staff very attentive, quick service and polite. Accessibility good. Facilities clean. Temperature good. Staff use shortened names for dishes as not exactly as on menu and that caused slight delay in getting right food to right person. Service charge added regardless of whether you feel you got good service, so very presumptuous and builds on the fact that most would not challenge the charges. Would go again but quite pricey so not in a hurry to go back.

Accidently gave me the wrong dish, rectified it straight away, very apologetic, no need at all, amazing service today and the correct dish was absolutely amazing. 10/10 place to eat, will be back very soon as always. Excellent food & drinks staff are so friendly & lovely

Unfortunately this was not enjoyable at all. As well as all of the liquid that covered the plate… the food was lacking in flavour. Way too much coriander used that it was all you could taste. Such a shame because I had heard good thing. Maybe it was just a bad night but I won’t be trying again…. If it had of tasted good it would’ve been great value for money.

Without question I would say this is the best place for curry in Norwich

My favourite Indian in Norwich, genuine complex flavours and a beautiful setting. We go often and it’s always faultless- but DO book in advance as it gets very busy.

We visit here once a month as we live very close. The flavours are fantastic. The staff are all friendly and the prices are fair. The Pashwari Naan is gorgeous as well as the railway lamb. Also grab a pint of the Bombay Bicycle as it compliments the meal greatly!

Booked last minute whilst staying in dunston hall hotel and we was blown away on how good everything was. The service and food was amazing. Definitely recommend coming here if your visiting. If we're back in the area, we will be returning.

We decided at the last minute to book a table at Merchants of Spice as potentially our last date night before our baby arrives! Booking the table was so easy to do online. We were met by Misha who literally couldn’t do enough for us all evening, she was so attentive, funny and just lovely from the get go. She gave us advice on the menu and even gave me an extra chocolate “for the baby” at the end of the night which made a very pregnant chocoholic happy! Thank you so much guys, the food was top quality, piping hot, quick service and just an all round lovely experience. Will definitely be back as soon as!

Food was good. Tasty and freshly prepared. Probably had better Indian food but it was still nice and I understand that personal preference changes from person to person. The service was excellent. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful especially the Asian Waitress. Very lovely.

Delivery was quick and food was pretty good.

Excellent food, service was ok though I felt a bit rushed to 'get the order in'. Atmosphere wasn't great in terms of the acoustics as you could hear everyone else's conversations. Just my view, but that's the point of a review right? Final thought was that it was quite expensive.

The food was tasty but luke warm so we didn’t enjoy it.

We had been there before but it appears to be under different management than since we last went. We were given a friendly welcome and drinks ordered. Several dishes I had not tried before, so I decided to try something new. I had a prawn curry with coconut and special rice which was very tasty and quite mild. I had the keema nan too. We all thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were very amenable. We will certainly return.

The staffs are very friendly. One of the staffs named Mr. Manpreet gives us some advices for drinks and foods. Also he remembers what we mentioned about the meal of our last visited. This is the second time we visited the restaurant in 2 weekends. We will recommend this restaurant.

With out doubt the best indian food in Norwich You can get cheaper but it's not worth the regret to save a couple of quid. We drive quite a way to get this food as every time were lazy and order delivery from else were we regret it. 5 *****

Great service for delivery, very prompt! Food that was delivered was cold and was not up to the usual standard. The Bhuna and Mathi were also too oily on comparison to previous meals that we have had with this company. Was rather disappointed on this occassion.

Nice atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. parking is convenient and easy. We had a table for 4 in December and ordered a range of dishes, tikka masala, lamb curry, vegetable curry etc. None of us were very impressed with the food. It was mediocre at best and lacked flavour. The vegetable curry was bland, lacked spices and seasoning and the consistency was gloopy. The tikka masala was very mild, and looked like Bolognese sauce, it tasted coconuty. We weren't very impressed with the food here and won't be returning. It wasn't bad food, but it wasn't good either.

Excellent service by the staff including Raihan. Booked online on Saturday 9th just a few hours before. They were very busy but we got a 5.30pm table. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Will return.

Great food, always been a favourite of ours, so happy they are now delivering here! Delivery was late but it is a Friday night so not surprising.

Very slow service. The team seems to be busy in other works compared to attending the tables. We waited for almost 10-15 minutes to get our table cleaned post meal even when there was not much rush in the restaurant. The food was as average and has limited items to choose from. Not worth going again.

Delivery was over 1 hour and 45 minutes late - not restaurant fault as spoke to them 2 times - just eat drivers kept failing to collect my order. Terrible service.

Good quality Indian food. The service on the whole was attentive, one member of staff did come across as rude. It was the end of the night, so he was probably just tired, but the sarcasm and attitude wasn't necessary.

I would have given 5* for service if it wasn't for the fact that when I asked if I could take away what I left over, the waiter went away and came back with 2 tubs and a silver-lined bag for my Nann Bread - and promptly placed it on the table for me to do myself! I've never seen or done that before. - won't be hurrying back!

We were going to eat elsewhere but big delay on food. Rang to book table at Merchants but told busy so delays. We got there early as we had advised them only to find 75% of restaurant empty. Our table was ready so sat and ordered drinks. Staff attentive and helpful, food delicious and well presented. I thoroughly enjoyed my curry and I only have one about once a year. Tasty naan too. Shame we were nearly put off going due to being told difficulty getting a table when in fact there was plenty of space. Good value for money and four of us really enjoyed our food. Would we return....its a yes!!

Very mixed bag unfortunately, Sag Aloo was gorgeous. Korma and Vindaloo were nice with good quality meat. Mixed tandoori starter was ok, Tarka Daal was good but very very runny. Lamb Rogan Josh had zero spice and was severely lacking in any flavour whatsoever - worst have ever had, My Peshwari Naan was like chewy cardboard and inedible. My pilau rice was clumpy and soggy but other two portions were fine. Keema naan was ok as was Veggie samosa. Not worth £100 sadly. Disappointed as had heard rave reviews but after tonight not sure we’d use again.
