Shame after recommending this place to relatives who were visiting the area then they received bad service.wont recommend them again.

Food is OK here but could be better. Eatin in and had a take away from here and both times wasn't really impressed. Hadn't realised till I checked my phone this morning that this place is a little pricey so had to write this review. Just don't expect anything g special and you will be fine.

Great place to dine and take away too. Tasty food at reasonable prices, restaurant is clean and staff attentive. Update 2024, still a wonderful Indian restaurant, had an anniversary meal here tonight and it was delicious!

Everything from start to finish was great. Will be returning soon.

We thought we would give them a try again, after usually going to another curry place in the area. Although the foods taste was good, the quality seemed poor, the meat(chicken) was chewy and hard and the sauce was like water. The food was OK but in future we will continue to use our other local.

Pretty average curry with very chewy over cooked chicken and not too many pieces in the Pathia and the Butter Chicken was very watery in its sauce. Quite disappointing all round.

Have used spice of India for years at least once a week absolutely love the place but the last 3 visits has been so disappointing, the size of the portions are like half what they were , took lid of chicken tikka massala and the tray was quarter full , second occasion half full but even then was left still hungry on all 3 occasions. Such a shame if this how they serve food now , would hate to look for a different Indian take away . Please actually give us a full portion of food

Staff friendly and service good. Food quality ok. Had lamb madras and meat in it was less then I would have liked.

The curry was tasty but this was the only good thing about our experience at Spice of India. They made a mistake with our order which, on its own, was only a minor inconvenience (mistakes happen), but the way it was dealt with was atrocious. Instead of owning up to his mistake, the staff member I spoke to upon my return to the restaurant insinuated that I was in the wrong instead. Rather than waiting to hear my response, he took the food to the kitchen saying he’d replace the whole order. When he came back, he handed it to me without a word or an offer of a partial refund (which we were owed), or indeed an apology. I got home and discovered that most of the food was cold, so he had not in fact replaced the whole order. So this staff member (he seemed to hold some sort of management or supervisor position) was both rude and had lied to us - he truly let the place down. Clearly he didn’t want to be seen making a mistake in front of his coworkers. The other staff members were friendly enough, no qualms. Extremely poor service overall though, will NOT be spending money there again, and certainly won’t be recommending the place to anyone.

Awful experience, was 12 of us. Food not very good all round, service not good at all. Asked for a coke and the waiter brought out a cobra and I said I wanted a coke, the waiter just said are you kidding me and walked off. Never returned with my coke and was charged for the extra cobra, no hot wet towel at the end.

Heard good reviews of this place. Been to loads of curry houses over the years but this was awful, hardly any meat in the dish and the rest was just slop! Cold nan breads. I just can't believe people rate this place. I'll stick to places in the city.. Very disappointed

We just had the best indian meal.. Great service and the food was delicious.. the nans were to die for. Thank you for a lovely night out.

Amazing food! Been many times and always impressed.

Will never return. Rushed in and rushed out again, taking plates away whilst still chewing food and rushed into next course, receipt under my nose whilst still finishing a drink and food. Had a waiter over our shoulder all night waiting for us to finish and move on.

Great restaurant, gets really busy at weekends but that's because the foods so good. Lovely setting for a nice evening out with friends.

Lovely staff, good menu choice and a great value for money, brilliant fresh cooked meals for all ages, couldn't recommend enough!

Visited with 4 people for meal, the worst and most rude service ever, rushed from the moment we entered into starters, drinks, took starters away before even finished, rushed to order mains while eating starters then hurried through eating main course whilst being watched to take our plates on the last mouthful. Bill was on the table almost whilst still chewing food. Disgusting service and never to return.

Had a great take away last night was extremely nice with lovely colours from the spices all with the taste of variety of meals side dishes garlic nan’s were excellent all the food was so hot it was hard to take the lids off more than enough in the portions for my family of adults. Staff were very polite friendly my only disappointment was that I couldn’t eat in the restaurant as we were struggling to get together earlier in the evening .keep up the good service.Can’t wait for next time

Tried a couple of times since we have been in Horsford but a while ago. Got a takeaway tonight and was reminded of why we stopped. Last time we tried chicken korma but felt it had way too much coconut. This time tried a couple of mild dishes - no mention of the coconut. They were full of it. I don't find it to be authentic at all and will not be going back. Very poor value and poor quality.

Went on Sunday night so quiet otherwise it would have got 5 stars for atmosphere too. Food was good with good portion size. Very varied menu too.

We ordered a take away this evening and were really looking forward to trying the food here. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The portion sizes were extremely small and considering the price we were expecting a decent amount of food. The curries themselves were pretty bland and un-exciting. The rice was undercooked and also bland. The naan bread was sadly cold. Overall not impressed and wouldn’t order again.

I can’t believe how small the portions were from this place. I’d heard positive reviews from other people but I think it’s gone down hill by the looks of the other reviews. The pilau rice was orange, first time I’ve seen that, the sauce in the Madras actually wouldn’t cover 50% of the rice anyway and the containers were half the size of the ones you’d get elsewhere. Won’t order again and I’ve told those I know not to either. Do better.

Very disappointed with the food on our visit last night, the portion sizes have been made smaller, £4:50 for a couple of spoon fulls of rice, the Korma is no longer thick and creamy but watery and bland. They used to serve lush large portions of rice but it’s more like a child’s portion now, ridiculous given the price. We heard others making comments about the portion sizes too, one said he was stopping off at mc Donald’s on the way home because he was hungry. We only visit the restaurant 2 or 3 times a year but we will definitely not be returning.

Was a realy good place. Got a takeaway this evening. I expected the prices to have gone up the same as everywhere else. But to then almost half the quantity in the dishes was rather disappointing # ripoff Britain

The food ok, but the ice cream dessert was terrible.

Have driven past this place for years. Dropped in for the first time tonight. had a lads catch up over a curry. It was excellent and great valve. Staff were good. Very tasty. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend

The food was very tasty. Unfortunately, the alcoholic drinks were very expensive. There was no drinks menu so next time, we will check the prices.

Fast and efficient service, high quality food and they even give you a discount if you get a takeaway. Definitely great value for the food in terms of quality even without the takeaway discount.

Food was excellent, all very yummy and went very quick, the naan bread, and the madras was my favourite, with a nice kick to it, great value for money, very filling definitely will be returning, great service as well at the bar :) thank you for the lovely meal

Maybe my menu choice was poor but found the food disappointing. There seems to be a cohort of satisfied regulars though. Would have liked yoghurt and mint with the poppadoms. Felt as if the choice was limited by financial implications. Only ice creams for dessert. Was hoping for gulabs or rice pudding.

Portion sizes could be bigger given the premium for table service, however, atmosphere was nice and service was to a good standard.

Ordered take away on phone, arrived, was treated with respect, order was ready, got home, cooked to purrfection, hot, tasteful, would definitely use the place again, plus 20% was knocked off for take away meals

Very rushed, and not great service, food was not the best. Did not get to see the itemised bill, just advised of the total to pay, so no idea what we actually got charged for. We will not go back, but it was packed, so others must enjoy it !. There are other Indian restaurants where the food and service are both so much better. Overall a very disappointing visit !.

Just popped in to see if we could get a table and enjoyed really nice food and had a cheery waiter. Lovely evening.

Absolutely delightful ! Could not fault anything. A really wonderful evening and delicious food in a very comfortable restaurant.

This was the first time I had been to this restaurant. On arrival I called to my friend, who was in the lobby, and gave her a hug. The staff gave me very unfriendly looks as if to say I was not allowed to speak. They took us to a table at the corner of the restaurant and seemed to be rushing us to order. We ordered our meals and a while later I was enjoying eating a poppadom, when the waiter took away the dips. I really enjoyed the main meals I ordered, but my friend did not like hers and the prawns in her prawn meal were minuscule. Then to add insult to injury they took away the table cloth before we had even left. It was a real shame as I did enjoy the food, but the service was appalling.

First time experience of my local Indian takeaway, very pleasant, polite, friendly service. Food was cooked really well and very tasty!! Only one comment - would be great if you could order online - would be interested if anyone else has thought the same. However, 5 star service for everything!! Will definitely use again!!

Visited of an evening (weekend) had a table at 8pm Curry very good tasty and came fast, however maybe too fast by 9.10 they had given us the bill and asked us to pay (presumably as we were the last in there) just a little annoying as we planned a couple of hrs catch up among friends.

Easily my favourite Indian around. The food is great, the service is even better. The guy on front of house is always looking smart, it always looks spotless and clean. I’d rather drive and pick up from there than get delivery from somewhere else. Highly recommend!

The food was ok. The korma was very watery. It was certainly service without a smile. And the whole evening was very rushed. Very average.

We went for dinner after a long day but it didn’t go well.. the staff weren’t welcoming and told our kids to sit down and not get up.. the food came in very small portions and the worst part was there was a strand of hair in my food and they didn’t respond appropriately. They said they have too many problems to handle and that it wasn’t their fault.

The staff were very friendly. We had two Koroma's and they were delicious. The food was hot and just the right amount to eat. The restaurant was very clean and tidy. Excellent and affordable great food.

On holiday couldn’t go with out me curry so asked lady at hotel the old rectory at crostwick another review did she know a good curry house and she mentioned this one very nice polite staff and nice curry’s would returns.

Quite simply my go-to Indian restaurant outside of Norwich city centre. All you need is a designated driver so you can enjoy a pint or two of cobra!

I can safely say this is the best Indian takeaway restaurant in England the food is to die for never tasted such lovely food we had different tonight than usual onion bhaji and the tandoori wow 👌 best ever we will be back again next week

I have eaten curries from here many times, and they have always been wonderful. But the last curry was simply awful. A very watery sauce and large pieces of roughly cut pineapple chucked in it. Not pleasant. They might have had a new Chef , or maybe an off night , and I truly hope that the standard improves again.

Lovely meal, courteous staff and pleasant atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed not to get hot towels at the end of the meal and the red wine had a huge amount of sediment in it hence only 4 stars.

Amazing dinner, staff were friendly and couldn't do enough. The food was wonderful, tasted great and filled me up. Well worth every penny.

Over the years this was a good restaurant but for whatever reason it wasn’t last night. No hot plates for the food, had to put our own cutlery out on the table, little plates just chucked in the middle of the table to help ourselves. Food was warm but not piping hot. Tasted nice but overall experience not the best

I've seen all sorts of posts for the S of I and a few not that good. Well we went tonight and the food, staff and service were superb. Very comfortable surroundings, spacious and not crowded tables along with a rather classy waiting and bar area. Not bad cost wise either and a good size car park, off the main road. On this visit certainly five stars.

Nice local restaurant to our B&BVisited on the 18th September.Had a drink, Cobra beer and lemonade. Ordered 4 poppadoms with pickle mango and onion dips.Had Chicken Makhana and Lamb Makhana a mild flavour with coconut and almonds.Also special rice and okra vegetable side.Staff very good had 4 who served us. Had music but not too loud.All said it was a very nice meal.

Recommended - really good takeaway. Lamb biriyani was succulent with delicate flavours but a nice kick.

The food here is to die for and is by far the best of it's kind in the area which is complimented with the fact the staff are incredibly polite and welcoming. The decor and general atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely and I would highly recommend going. Thanks guys.

During the many lockdowns we have had, we have largely avoided going anywhere where we might catch anything. But we have been to Spice of India three times to get a take away. Their procedures are very good, lots of anti bac everywhere and food is always ready on arrival so we are there only for a short time.The food, as ever, is always outstanding. I like that in recent visits the food has become a little less oily. I like the oils, but it doesn't do my waist many favours, but we feel that less oil is being used and the taste has not diminished. Great meal. We will be back again soon!

Ordered a collection from The Spice of India this evening as we usually go to Naga but thought we’d try something different. Inside the restaurant feels very clean and the member of staff was welcoming and friendly. I had the chicken tikka biriyani and my partner had lamb biriyani with garlic naan. Unfortunately we both found the food to be bland and it was cold...we only live 1 minute away. Therefore we had to put it in the microwave to heat it up. Sad! :(
