The Melody Restaurant in Hammersmith and Fulham

Went for afternoon tea and the service was abysmal. We tried several times to attract the attention of the server's and were actively ignored. This was brought to the attention of the manager, who did not seem to care and did nothing to rectify the situation. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

We reserved a seating via The Fork service online but reataurant didn’t have it. Luckily they still had room for us. Afternoon Tea food was excellent and very tasty. One minus star comes from the tea, which was quite basic bag tea in a pot. We also shoukd have taken only 2 servings of food since our 10 year old couldn’t eat as much as adults. Same price from all of us. Staff was very helpful and friendly, I can recommend this place.

Fresh seafood well presented and delicious. Priced reasonably and nice relaxing atmosphere. Enjoyed my dinner.

It was really delicious, nice staff but 1 male staff member charged a 12.5% ​​tip of £16.19 on his own initiative when paying. And of course we see this on the receipt much later. A bit unsympathetic to do it like this to unsuspecting tourists and to give the experience a bad aftertaste.

Went for an afternoon tea. Great selection of food and many choices of tea. The staff “Vicky” was extremely helpful and attentive. There was a BBQ party in the garden on the day we went so it was a little noisy and smelly with all the grilled food. However both my sister and I enjoyed our time there. Thank you!

This evening I brought my family to this exquisite place. We had the fabulous most delicious Sunday Roast. The Chef is Gianluca who presented himself once we had eaten. What a delight. The Chefs amazing food as well as superb service. Thank you and most definitely shall be returning to this wonderful place. 💫💫

Wonderful! Delicious! We had the Set Menu for lunch today - only £25. The food was delicious and very generous portions. We started with duck pate, followed by tender lamb, cooked perfectly, smashed potatoes & a wonderful selection of vegetables and finished it off with an amazing panna cotta. We’ll be back!

Went for an afternoon tea and it was fairly busy but still pleasant . We had an assortment of food and sandwiches. Staff were super helpful. Sandwiches were fresh and the cakes were lovely. We didn’t get a top up of sandwiches but we did of tea. Nice atmosphere and nice garden area.Cakes were delicious too.

Disappointed in our visit for afternoon tea, 40 minute wait for food from sitting down is too long in our opinion. The service was slow bringing out salmon plate we had to ask for as it never arrived, I had no cutlery for some reason. Others were getting served before us when they came in later. The food was good & couldn't eat it all so asked for it to be boxed so we could take it away, the waitress bought 2 boxes to our table for us to do it ourselves yet she took another tables food away to be boxed. We asked her to box them seeing as they add a service charge on the bill. Also waited ages for the bill & had to ask twice. Unfortunately won't be back as theres better places to go It spoilt my partners birthday.

I took my mother here for a birthday afternoon tea which was really lovely and special. The service was swift and excellent, with warm and friendly staff who looked after us very well. The food was plentiful, with delicious finger sandwiches, cakes, and scones coupled with the brilliant English Breakfast blend and signature champagne. It was a rainy day, but the restaurant interior was gorgeous, with paintings and classical décor across the room. I will be bringing my family next time!

Great setting within a hotel with view out to a pretty garden. Elegant fittings and promising menu that fails to deliver the same standard. Went with a The Fork promotion otherwise quality/price ratio would have been completely off the scale (not in a good way).

Had an amazing and filling afternoon tea here. I checked the prices vs quality at other London places and this place is top-notch. Generous portions and amazingly delicious. Only detraction would be that I wish the service could be more attentive at times and that they have a wider selection of loose leaf tea. Nevertheless, definitely recommend and would go again.

I have just returned from an amazingly delicious cream tea at the Melody Restaurant in Hammersmith. I highly recommend the restaurant and the food, but especially the service. All the staff were extremely polite and helpful, but I found Anthony to be incredibly charming, hospitable and an absolute pleasure to be served by.

We booked a Champagne Afternoon Tea. The champagne was nice. The start of the food was good - smoked salmon and salmon roe. It went downhill from then. I ordered loose leaf tea. The leaves were brought out in a strainer which I was asked to pour the water from the pot through the strainer. I tried to tell them that you should steep the tea in the water first and then strain the tea, but this went above their heads. I put the tealeaves in the pot to brew and the teapot had a crack and leaked tea all over the tablecloth. A napkin was placed over the soaking area - they should have replaced the cloth. There was a finger sandwich of cucumber which was made from 'junk' bread which stretched as you tried to bite it. The brioche buns were dry as there was so little filling. The cheese scone was nice. My husband tried the fruit scone but left it as it was dry. He also tried the carrot cake which was also dry. We left more food than we ate.

Fortunately we had a great experience, rather different from the Diane H review. Excellent friendly service, we enjoyed the champagne, the various teas (although we didn’t have the loose tea options) and the interesting selection of quality food. Plus the historic significance of the venue.

I hosted an event here for work. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in the lead up to and during the event - anything we needed, they gladly did. The breakfast buffet food was excellent - really great quality and plenty of it. The only thing that could have been improved was that the space we used for the event was very dated and not really in line with the standard of the rest of the restaurant and hotel.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here Friday 3rd May. Food was excellent, scones were great especially the plain ones with bacon jam! Also the plate of smoked salmon was excellent too, a lovely touch. Service was very good and very attentive. We had the champagne afternoon tea and the champagne was fabulous and a very generous glass. We also had some cocktails, which were very good. This was a virgin experience gift and we were very impressed. Good location near Hammersmith Station. 10 out of 10 and a big thank you to all the staff. Highly recommended

My friend and I had a wonderful afternoon tea at The Melody restaurant today. (Buy-a-gift present). The food was very nice and there was plenty of it. The staff gave us a box each to take the leftover cakes home to enjoy. We had a nice jasmine blossom tea. The atmosphere is relaxed and the restaurant is clean, complete with nice paintings and a chandelier. The staff are polite and welcoming. The hotel is a beautiful old building with interesting history. Well worth a visit.

Had the champagne afternoon tea and it was the best afternoon tea I've ever had ( I've had quite a few!,) food was so nice and the smoked salmon and caviar side was unexpected. Each bit was delicious and staff so polite and attentive and kindly swapped our champagne for white wine. Definitely would recommend and the hotel was lovely too. We had a groupon voucher which made it excellent value for money.

A wonderful champagne afternoon tea. 🍾 They catered impeccably for my gluten intolerance. The food was well above par. The gluten-free bread was light and fluffy. The pastries didn't fall apart, and the scones? Ooooh, they did not disappoint! 😍 The staff were knowledgeable and extremely polite.

Magnificent brick building with a garden area. I went there for afternoon tea between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. A British experience to live. The service was impeccable and the room is truly superb. I recommend making a reservation to be sure of having a place. The content of the Afternoon Tea is very copious and a doggy bag is possible if you can't eat it all, which was the case for us despite being fast ^^ Compared to others the price was fair £31 for the first price. Tea is unlimited if you need it. I highly recommend if you are in the area.

This was our fourth event at The Melody Restaurant / St. Paul Hotel and the only word to describe the evening was MARVELOUS. The food, the beverages, the atmosphere, and the service were all impeccable! Kudos to Carl, Ariana and the entire Melody team for another extraordinary evening!

Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere and service. 4* for the food as we didn’t like the savoury afternoon tea options that much (personal preference) but everything else was absolutely amazing. Hands down the best afternoon tea I’ve ever been too. Would go again in a heartbeat

Celebrated my big birthday here with a beautiful afternoon tea, it was incredible! I can honestly say it was the best I have ever had, excellent value, generous, the service was first class and what a beautiful place and setting. Highly reccomended.

Great value and good quality. Sandwiches a little boring with not as much filling as one would like, but the excellent salmon dish. scones and cakes more than make up for it. Will happily return.

Booked an early dinner for 5:15pm before a show at the Apollo that started at 7pm. On arrival at reception there were 2 staff members fiddling about with the thermostat, they turned to see us then immediately turned back to what they were doing, without acknowledging us at all. After standing around close to 5 minutes we just walked around ourselves until we found the restaurant. The restaurant manager then informed us that the restaurant wouldn't be open until 5:30pm (although it let us book online for 5:15pm specifically for dinner and time was obviously of the essence due to our plans later in the evening). We were shown to a table in the bar to wait 10 minutes (which turned out to be 15) and neither the restaurant manager nor a single member of staff came over to offer us a drink whilst we waited. Eventually we were taken through to the restaurant where we were handed menus which was not in line with the online menu, missing a lot of items and no replacement dishes. I asked to see the bar menu as due to dietary restrictions and the reduced menu there weren't any mains of my liking. The waitress brought over the bar menu happily. When it came to ordering we were told that they couldn't serve anything from the bar menu in the restaurant, and they couldn't serve anything from the restaurant menu in the bar. They offered to seat us in a more private area - but when pressed as to whether we could order off different menus we were flatly told a firm no. Despite the fact we would not be eating in either the restaurant or the bar. At this point we cut our losses and went to find something else to grab quickly before our show. From start to finish, the issues with the booking, their service, the lack of accommodating to customers you have already disappointed and the pure, absolute pretentiousness of the chef to refuse to serve items from different menus in a private area of the venue made this a truly awful experience in every way from start to finish. Afternoon tea may be nice, but I would steer well, well clear of having dinner here.

Six of us including two kids went to The Melody restaurant for afternoon tea and it was a wonderful experience. The food was really varied and tasty and they took in to account our dietary requirements. The food was plentiful, in fact we took home a few boxes of leftovers as we couldn’t finish it all. Hot drinks were free flowing and plenty of teas (and coffees) to choose from. The restaurant and settings are beautiful and just a short walk from the tube station. We were looked after by Jackie who couldn’t have done more to make sure we were happy, she was so helpful and attentive. A special thank you to her and those who helped answer our questions prior to booking. I’d highly recommend this experience.

Had a Champagne afternoon tea, it was amazing, the place is stunning, service 5*, and the food amazing! Salmon and caviar was a nice surprise, for my husband! I loved the cheese scones, so good! The fruit scones were fantastic, never had any like that before. We had a lovely, relaxed afternoon with food that was unique, tasted great and made us feel very pampered. Would love to go again.

This place was excellent. I went there twice during my birthday weekend with a group of friends and cannot rate it highly enough. Ambiance was olde world and very cosy and attractive setting. Food very high quand excellent service. Had 3 course dinner and afternoon tea the next day. They even presented me with birthday dessert plate.

Lovely spot in Hammersmith but very disappointing Restaurant .Two of my friends had Mushroom Risotto which they found inedible . Not a mushroom in sight.!!My Fish was VERY Dry and tasteless accompanying vegetable which i had no taste to it . Even the Mango Sorbet was pretty tastsless. VERY DISAPPOINTING .

Service: really lovely staff and very attentive. My only suggestion would be, please don't ask diners if they're ok with everything what felt like every 5 minutes. We just mostly wanted to be left alone and felt like we were being watched like a hawk. Again, very very sweet and friendly, but just tone it down a little. Atmosphere: not much to say, cosy and lovely Food: I hate saying this about anything I eat, but it was just awful. Not only did the food arrive late (we got an apology for this) but it was cold, like it had been waiting on the counter for a while before it came to us. My risotto was the worst dish I've ever had and I couldn't finish it - bland and no flavour, parmesan on top so cold I had to use my fingers to tear it. My friend's steak and mash were cold and lacked flavour. The only decent thing was the broccoli but cost £6 and something so simple to make that it doesn't justify the price point. Alot of the positive reviews seem to be mostly about the afternoon tea experience, which I have not tried (and don't plan to) - fix the menu please. The food is truly not worth what you pay for and needs reworking. It's a shame, always wanted to try Melody so I'm really disappointed. However, thank you to the staff who were the only good thing about our evening.

Had afternoon tea here today and it was honestly our favourite we've ever had in London. We do a LOT of afternoon teas, including the Ritz, and would still prefer to come here as it is excellent value. Service was impeccably polite and they were very accommodating when we had to do a last minute reschedule. The food was delicious and included an extra plate of salmon & caviar in addition to the usual scones, sandwiches & desserts. We were able to take our desserts home in a box as we were very full (although they accidentally didn't pack the scone as requested). We will 100% come back again. Highly recommend!

Un Afternoon Tea merveilleux et délicieux, copieux et bien garni! Un bon Champagne et du thé de qualité. Le lieu est magnifique et calme et niché dans un petit parc ! On se sent dans une petite campagne pourtant dans Hammersmith. L'amabilité du personnel qui nous a servi est à noter. L'accueil à l'entrée en revanche était limite. Nous y retournerons sans aucun doute j'ai eu un superbe anniversaire.

This is just my favourite place in London because it is an all rounder: the quality of the food, the atmosphere, the beauty of the building and its history as well as the kind and warm service from the delightful staff team- perfect. We had the standard St. Paul’s Afternoon Tea for two people (30£ pp), and it was absolutely delightful! Scones were warm and fluffy, overall a good balance of fruity and sweet pastries vs slightly savory sandwiches. 3 page long selection of tea. Relaxed, private atmosphere. Servers were friendly and accommodating and packed up the leftovers very nicely for us upon request. Excellent price/quality ratio, if given the chance, would go again.

Would not recommend the whisky tasting experience at all. Unfortunately we were told completely different information over the phone to the reality upon arrival. We were told there would be an element of choice, but there was none. Two of us were handed 5x whiskies which didn’t chose, nor suited our tastes. Lovely location but poor quality staff, zero choice to the tasting session as promised. Even lied about the outside heaters not working 👎 Hate to say it in this day & age, but the place was crying out for someone older who spoke better English to whip the service-less teens & 20 somethings into shape! 🙏👍

На пару с ребёнком 15 лет у нас вышел счёт в районе 120-130£, но от самой еды мы были не в восторге. Нам принесли трёхэтажную подставку с тремя тарелками - на самой верхней тарелке были не сладкие бутерброды, вот они были самые вкусные!!! На средней тарелке были, мягко скажем, несъедобные кексы, которые мы попробовали и есть не стали, а на самой нижней тарелке были десерты, которые тоже были не совсем удачные. В дополнение, нам принесли тарелку с красной рыбой и ложечкой красной икры. В общем, можно сказать, что мы наелись только не сладкими блюдами, которые были очень вкусными, а сладкое нам не понравилось. Но ещё раз повторюсь, что еда здесь не самое главное - главное это приятное место со старинной атмосферой и шикарным обслуживанием, где каждому дали свой чайничек с выбранным чаем, а взрослым по бокалу неплохого шампанского!!!

In my opinion the best afternoon tea in London, a few minutes walk from Hammersmith tube station. The restaurant is inside St Paul’s Hotel and is a beautiful old building that has been sensitively restored so worth a visit just to be in these wonderful surroundings. Now as for the afternoon tea it was beautifully served, fresh finger sandwiches, savoury scones, a tray of smoked salmon on the side. The best scones I have eaten and both fruit and plain with tasty jam and cream. The miniature cakes were delicious as well, mini cheesecakes, passion fruit, pistachio and chocolate cakes all so yummy. We took advantage of the offer that included the glass of champagne and was amazed at the size of the flute and the willingness to give a very generous pour. The waitress was lovely and the staff very welcoming. I will definitely return.

The cakes are nicely decorated. Good selection of tea and coffee. We also visited the wisky bar which was very impressive . I think they had 600 wiskys or so. The I would go back again.

Went for Afternoon Tea, on an Experience voucher given as a present. Lovely building, formerly part of a school. Very good staff, plenty of tea refills, superb afternoon tea presented on a 3 tier stand. Some interesting, slightly different tastes among the food but all very good. A few spare scones etc were packed in a box to take home, just as nice the next day.

We booked a table online for an Afternoon Tea. The staff was very kind and gave us a table with more space to put the stroller of our baby daughter. We also called in advance when we were running late to our reservation, it was no problem. We were allowed to order two different kind of teas from the menu and the sandwiches and pastries were amazing! The price was also affordable. Thank you again!

היינו בחווית afternoon tea במקום, ואני חייבת לומר שהיה ואוו! לא ציפיתי להנות כל כך ממאפים ומשתיית תה, אבל זה היה לא פחות ממושלם! בהתחלה חשבנו שנצטרך לאכול אח"כ עוד משהו, כי זה נראה קטן (כמו כל ארוחת קונספט כזאת בלונדון), אבל יצאנו מפוצצים ועוד השארנו כמה עוגות לצערי מאחור 😅 קודם כל הם התחשבו בכל רגישות למזון שיש לנו, ושמו בצלחת נפרד מה שביקשנו שלא יהיה יחד,והתאימו לנו סנדוויצ'ים ועוגות לפי הרגישויות. התה היה לא פחות ממושלם, אנחנו הלכנו על יסמין ועל מנגו-תותים בסדר הזה. העוגות (בעיקר הסקונס קינמון-צימוקים) היו טעימות כלכך! ולהבדיל מכל שאר חוויות הafternoon tea בלונדון, פה העוגות לא היו רק מוסים ג'לטיניים כאלו, אלא ממש עוגות אפויות וטובות שזה פלוס ענק! והשירות היה מקסים של כל הצוות, אווירה יוצאת מן הכלל וחוויה בלתי נשכחת 😊 תודה לכם

This was booked as a late brunch, 3 courses plus a glass of champagne. Did not disappoint. The hotel itself is in a gorgeous building. The dining area we were in was perfect, not too stuffy. Staff very polite and courteous. The food was delicious, and would definitely recommend.

It was my second visit to the melody of Saint Paul in Hammersmith for afternoon tea, I was so disappointed this time the bread for the sandwiches wasn’t fresh the scones hard and the petits four heavy and not fresh. Will never go there again it’s a shame as the place is nice with a lovely decor. When I complained I only got an apologie not a reduction in my bill!.
