What a lovely place. Good food and great service. Asked for tap water and it arrived straight away as opposed most restaurants who either forget or deliberately forget. Quality service indeed. Veggie spring rolls were pleasant. Very happy with my Lao style combo pho. Everything in it was cooked to perfection. Broth was not oily at all and was refreshing. Friend had curry noodles with tofu and he really loved it. I didn't even get to try a bit! He was saying there's something special about the taste. He was raving about the tofu too. Such a shame I don't live in Stockport otherwise I'd have visited very often! I will definitely be back when in Stockport next!

One of the best restaurants in the area. Nice Vietnamese/Thai etc dishes, loved the Mixed seafood pad see ew, the Angor wings, crispy squid. I guess the spicy drunken noodles were the weakest plate - they indeed have a "bite", but not enough savoury flavour otherwise. Small restaurant, you might want to reserve your table, very polite service.

Great little place. Great selection of veggie and vegan items. Drunken noodles and the Bangkok pad Thai were really good! Never had summer rolls before, but they were delicious and had really big prawns!

Honestly very disappointed. We’d booked this table over a month ago having heard nothing but amazing reviews and I couldn’t be more disappointed. Me and my partner love nothing more than supporting independent franchises and are the biggest foodies. I hate complaining but the service was non existent, all the staff couldn’t have made it more obvious that they wanted the service to end, the meat on all the dishes we had (duck noodles and combo Lao style pho) was completely inedible, the food was served so hot that it burnt our mouths to the point where we couldn’t eat it. The only good thing we tried was the wings. Genuinely really disappointed because we’d been really looking forward to it but will definitely not be returning.

Fantastic food, freshly cooked to order. Extensive menu with a good selection of veggie and vegan options also. Great service with just the right amount of attention. Pay by cash or card (cash only for tips); really good value for money. Open lunchtimes and evenings.

Top quality food - service was curious but not awful - just basic and had the opportunity to make it amazing! Food was soo good we ordered a second meal to takeaway for the next day. Annoyingly had to pay £2.50 for a small suave pot in order to take some pickled ginger, dried onion ok an and chilli flakes to have at home.

Initially I never liked Vietnamese food but this restaurant changed my mind . The flavours of their food is amazing . I can’t fault their food not even once. I am definitely coming back here again

Authentic, delicious and a true Stockport gem!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal here. The food is excellent, I really recommend the crispy salad, I have dreams about this salad it’s that good. I also love the cauliflower wings and the bok choy. Lovely little restaurant in the heart of Stockport.

I’ve always really enjoyed the food and service at Mekong Cat, but unfortunately, my recent visit for Mother’s Day weekend was quite disappointing. We booked a table a week in advance, and at no point were we informed of any time restrictions. The food did take a while to arrive, which we didn’t mind, but the dishes came out at different times—so while I was finishing my meal, my mum had only just received hers. Then, just as my mum was about halfway through her meal, a female server came over and bluntly told us we needed to vacate the table in five minutes. There was no way she could have finished her food in that time. If we had been made aware of a time limit when booking, that would have been understandable—but we weren’t. And if we had finished eating and were lingering, I could have understood—but my mum was literally still eating. As a result, she had to leave half her food, and we had to take our drinks with us. We had only been at the table for about 55 minutes when we were told to leave. Our food started arriving at the 30-minute mark, but because the dishes came out separately, we naturally finished at different times, making it difficult to eat quickly. This experience really put a dampener on what should have been a special meal. I usually love this restaurant, but this felt rushed and inconsiderate, and I left feeling quite disappointed. I do want to mention that the main male server was great—polite, informative, and attentive. It’s just a shame that the experience was overshadowed by the female server’s abrupt approach, which really impacted the atmosphere. I wouldn’t be surprised if he loses out on tips because of it.

Came here with my wife. Delicious food with friendly service. Definiately going again.

Collected food, meat was in a bag, raw bloody and uncooked. Phoned to clarify and was told it needs to be put in boiling hot broth, which it obviously wasn't. Asked me to heat it up myself with a microwave to which I was unable as I didn't have the means. After much back and forth I was told I could head back to the restaurant to have them heat it up for me. I was too busy to do so and told them to leave it. Didn't feel particularly good service on their end, came across as cold and unwilling to compensate in any way. I will never order from here again.

One of the best restaurants in the Manchester area, like it’s sister restaurant Kambuja! The food was glorious, and some of the best Asian food I’ve had in the UK!

Went to meet friends tonight and was sadly disappointed for our first visit to the restaurant. The restaurant was so cold it was really uncomfortable. The service was terrible. They didn’t bring drinks when ordered, she forgot the order. Then our starters were given to another table. Once we had eaten our mains we were rushed to get out saying they needed the table back in 5 minutes which was 25 minutes earlier than we had first been told. The main meals were mediocre, not enough flavour and made up with a lot of salad leaves. A disappointing visit.

Fantastic welcome, huge amount of vegan dishes, good portions and absolutely delicious. They do sell dead animals too, but I didn't look. I had pad Thai, my favourite dish. This was knockout, perfect street food, cooked at the speed of light, and served by a beautiful, intergenerational team in an open kitchen. So good, that I bought another portion for my supper! Small place, so booking is advised. However, I walked in and waited a couple of minutes for 1 of the handful of tables.

I've been here a couple of times. The food is consistent which I like because it means I'm safe ordering the same menu items. It is quite noisy at night as it's very small but much quieter in the day. Would recommend reserving a table especially at peak times. The environment is clean and the food is delicious with lots and lots of options for both meat eaters and vegetarians which makes a nice change from having two veggie options and a menu full of meat like most places. The entire back page of the menu is clearly labelled vegan so you don't have to hunt around for it. Food very reasonably priced too. I recommend the vegan seitan pho and the seitan summer rolls.

Great place with real authentic food. I have been here a few times and each time the food was excellent. Once I had to quickly leave the restaurant after I had only ordered beverages and they were happy to quickly get me the bill and allow me to leave without penance.

The best pho in the Manchester hands down. Other Pho places tastes watery, but the food here is so delicious. Affordable, authentic, and the best restaurant for miles. Edit I love this place, but the last couple times I had Pho it tastes like water. I don't know if quality dropped because they're so busy. The service is efficient but not very friendly. I will be back and hope their broths improves.

my partner and I absolutely loved this little place, have seen it recommended a few times on social media and decided to book to try it. The food was 10/10, it’s a little place with only a few tables so we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the open kitchen vibe. Everything we ate was unreal, we especially loved the wings, crispy squid and pad Thai. Service was friendly and fast, and the price is more than reasonable. Will definitely be a local favourite for us and can’t wait to return!

Delicious food and an incredible amount of choice. My only constructive criticism would be to let customers finish their starters before bringing out the main as some tables are quite small. The smells coming from the kitchen were incredible. Wanted to try everything!

A woman in black uniform put our order down for us. She had a very bad attitude. Since the name of the fried noodles in the menu was not in English, we didn’t know how to read it. We wanted to try to point it out to her, but she said in a very rude manner, "I can't see it!" "Then she yelled at us to read it out in a very rude manner, and the diners at the isolation table also saw it, which made us feel extremely embarrassed. Then I tried to read it out, and she actually responded with a rude attitude and told us the real way to read it. , and then asked us what kind of meat we chose in a judgmental tone. In the end, my friend and I couldn't eat anymore because we were so upset, so we decided to leave because we didn't do anything when we entered the restaurant. Bad behavior, just looking at the sign. I don’t know why he treats us like this. We are guests. I can’t think of why he treats us like this. I’m really annoyed. I was happy to go out to eat with good friends, but how could I know that unfortunately Met this waitress with a very bad attitude! This is how I really feel, no fiction!

10/10 absolutely amazing food, probably the best Asian food we’ve had outside of Asia, I had the summer rolls, garlic wings and drunken noodles, all where spot on and the vegan chicken and seitan was so tasty. Our server was also lovely!

visited twice so far, even though I did not like to beef pho the first time - it was very murky and unappealing not clear as it should be, also didn't taste good at all. gave it another chance because of the good reviews, this time I had bun hue noodles and whilst the flavours were good, it was such a small portion that it should have been a starter and not a main. contained about 30g of chicken max and I left hungry. won't be back.

Very tasty and filling food! We went on A Saturday as the doors opened with a reservation - it gets busy quickly so I recommend booking a table beforehand. The summer rolls are massive and crispy salad is great to share between two. I went for the Lao special pho with extra meatballs for the main and it was delicious. Good selection of condiments on the side too.

Oh my goodness, the food is amazing! Went for lunch with a chef, a teenager and a toddler and everyone loved it! Sooooo much to choose from, and a whole vegetarian menu too. Couldn't pick between lemongrass tofu and spicy seitan, so they did me half and half - both were absolutely delicious! But the star was a side of crispy cauliflower which blew everyone away. New favourite place in Stockport.

B'anh mi classic - no hot pepers too much carrot no daikon radish very little cilantro bun was good , something had a bit of a musty taste not bacon roll ham instead late on making for take away Had lunch there the day before pho duck very good , presents as a clean eatery im sure they could do better

we got the khao soi, garlic chicken wings and mee kathang. khao saoi was really flavourful and rich. gave options for bone in and boneless chicken. garlic chicken wings were excellent. crispy and seasoned really nicely. the mee kathang was a let down. noodles were mushy and it had a weird strong smell. but taste wise it was nice. would give it a pass tho. place is small so calling in to reserve is highly recommended.

We were craving Asian food and found this restaurant on Google. We booked a table on line through their website - you need a reservation there are only 8 tables. We were greeted upon arrival and our table was ready. The food was absolutely amazing and authentic - no wonder they are always busy. The Pad Thai we finished but I have to say the peanut sauce tasted too much like peanut butter and was very sweet. But forgetting that we will definitely be back again

The food here is lovely, lots of choice and I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried. I want to love this restaurant, but the service lets the experience down every time. Every visit the same staff member has made us feel somewhat unwelcome - the last time they seemed to be laughing at our order with the chef. They joked about turning customers away who came in looking for a table. It made for a very uncomfortable time in a very small restaurant. Another waiter arrived later on who was lovely, I wished he had been there the whole time! Maybe a little more training is needed?

We have been coming here since it opened. We absolutely love it. The food is amazing and the vibe and staff are equally on par. A party of 6 of us went today to celebrate my son’s 17th birthday. I asked them if they could do something to suitably embarrass him. Well, they surpassed any expectations I had, they presented him with a cake and played happy birthday through the restaurant. It was awesome and a true testament to how much these guys care. Thank you 💃💃

This place has been recommended by a few people and the reviews we have read are great. We love Asian food and the menu is full of mouth watering sounding dishes so we were really looking forward to going. We finally made it there for a late lunch. We hadn't booked but the waiter found us a table for an hour, which made us think it must be amazing as it was fully booked for the rest of the day. The waiter then took ages to take our order and didn't really seem interested. Another waiter arrived while we were there, and was much more attentive, but wasn't our waiter. In short, the food was delicious, but service pretty lacklustre, the decor/furniture more cafe than restaurant and the prices pretty expensive. Sadly, we can't see why it has such great reviews and won't be coming back.

I've been going here for years and it has been consistent with amazing food and great service. There are many vegan and vegetarian options which have always been delicious. I have brought many of my family and friends here and they have all loved it!

Lovely authentic food! We recently returned from Vietnam and had to get our fix of the food here as it reminds us of being there. Summer rolls are amazing and all the noodles are lovely.

Lovely asian restaurant, Summer rolls with peanut sauce were especially delicious. We dropped in at the off chance of a table and they accommodated us within 15 minutes. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service would definitely recommend.

Unbelievable authentic food at a super reasonable price. Been here twice with friends and both times everyone has had no complaints. I had summer rolls to start - great portion size, and the satay sauce is delicious. Beef pad see eew for mains (pictured) - also fantastic!

Finally visited here and so glad we did! Vegetable crispy rolls and tofu pad Thai were both very tasty. My partner had chicken wings and the Kar Ko. Friendly staff. Food came out quickly. Definitely try the Asian doughnuts for dessert! Can’t wait to come back!

Great food, great service and great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the all the food we had. I will definitely return to try more of the menu. The drunken noodles were excellent as was the summer rolls and Boc Loc Lac was my favourite dish. I can’t wait to try the bhan mi.

The Mekong Cat is honestly amazing, their food is brilliant and refreshing, both in the sense of being refreshing, but also in giving authentic Vietnamese and south Asian food. If you are considering going, you definitely should!

What a find! Great tasty food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Noodle soup stocks are full of flavour, and the garlic chicken wings are superb. Nice cold beers and Soju are available and reasonably priced.
