Art of Siam Thai Cuisine - Marple in Stockport

The food here was very average and clearly microwaved as our starters were soggy and arrived within a few minutes of ordering. We ordered a massaman curry and asked 3 times if we could please have the curry spicy, quite hot and when it arrived it was bland just as listed on the menu. The waitress clearly took no notice of what we asked for. The atmosphere was rather odd. Tables very close to one another and as much as I’m an animal lover the table next to us had a dog with them which was crying and whimpering the whole time. Overall for the £70 spent the food was very average and not made fresh. We were quite disappointed as we went there on recommendation. I’m not sure if this is standard however too and service charge was already added automatically to the bill which I also found odd as this should be at the discretion of the customer. Also no option if draught beers instead overpriced bottled beers were the only option.

Lovely food, lunchtime menu great value.

Visited for lunch which was excellent and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and efficient and the small space is nicely decorated with clean toilets. Jungle curry was tasty and quite spicy which is how it should be, and the Penang was also good. Will definitely be back.

This is the first time that we have visited & we will definitely go back again. The food was excellent & the staff were all very friendly.

Superb meal. The two brothers have taken over from dad who's retired and the new menu has some really interesting meals. Service excellent. Quality outstanding and good value for money. We'll definitely be going again.

Delicious! Went for lunch with my husband, had the tempura veg, Thai Green Curry, and Railway Rice. The green curry was pretty exactly the same to what I had in South Korea (made by a Thai guy). Definitely going again <3

Lovely place, delicious vegetarian choices, freshly made food and lovely staff. Reasonable price too ! The tofu was delicious and plenty of fresh veg.

Went for valentines. Tables cramped. Service chaotic and one waitress was disinterested to the point of being rude. Food not up to the usual high standard and running low on drinks. Hope this is not what is to come with the owner having retired. Not in any rush to return sadly.

Excellent food but oh my goodness, what on earth is happening with the service?! We booked online and it was obvious on arrival they didn't have our booking. Fortunately I had confirmation and the restaurant wasn't full. We waited ages for our order to be taken and a couple of times had to go in search of staff. Beer was served with the cap still on (none of us are in the habit of opening beer bottles with our teeth :-) ) and the waiting staff were hard to find. A couple were seated next to us and left after waiting 25 minutes without anyone taking their order. On the plus side, the food was excellent. We had a mix of food with vegetable tempura, Thai fish cakes, masman curries, Tamarind Duck and more and every dish was well presented, good portions and very tasty. Would I visit again? Yes for the food but be prepared to go in search of the waiting staff and don't expect much attention.

Have been to this restaurant a lot. Tonight I was so disappointed. The restaurant was cramped and I was against a wall to the point it was difficult to move my arm to eat. Asked to move to the empty table next to me, but that wasn’t allowed. Had to ask for drinks as we checked out the menu. Starters were good and well presented. Again had to ask for drinks even though our glasses were empty. Sizzling prawns nice. Chicken main not so good, in parts didn’t taste cooked. Raised it with the waitress who shrugged her shoulders and she never returned. Eventually a gentleman returned to chat with us and he was excellent. Such a shame. Seem since the owner retired this gem has lost its way.

Absolutely delicious food, generous portions, presented beautifully and with friendly and helpful staff. They went the extra mile to provide a gluten free option for me, and the whole experience was faultless. Highly recommended

Blown away by how delicious and fresh the food is here. They have a great long menu with a ton of choices, including vegetarian. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere for an evening meal and the service is friendly. We’ll definitely be back.

4yrs ago someone suggested Art of Siam for birthday venue. It was excellent for the food, the prices and thr cosy decor. For the past year we have been having lunch regularly and my only niggle is why is it not closer to home? It must be the best restaurant for miles, especially if you enjoy mouthwatering Thai food served in a pleasant friendly atmosphere by lovely people who cannot help but please. A 2 course lunch for under a tenner is not to be missed and, having sampled the more than adequate choices, I cannot fault any. I believe in praise where due and will recommend any place that deserves it deserve. This place does. I've also posted a couple of scathing reports about pub restaurants that should be avoided especially on Sunday when they" run out of veg !! " and serve concrete pastry. Its local, scenic, recently refurbished and handy for walking. Its on Tripadvisor so read and decide for yourself. Honest comments are valuable.

Place is absolutely amazing food is amazing, style is amazing, decently priced .. only criticism I have and its a minor one, is that they rush you out the door once you have eaten. If you haven't reserved a table but the whole place is empty they ask you to leave at a certain time and everything feels rushed and can't enjoy the full experience. That being said the place is amazing.

Absolutely beautiful food, lovely chicken wings and a delicious Penang curry. Service was fantastic and they even brought over some fruit for our little one! Highly recommended

We ordered take out for 5 people who are all fussy eaters. We chose collection and when arrived home, the food was hot, fresh and smelt incredible. Everyone enjoyed their starter and mains, delicious and all satisfied. I have eaten in the restaurant before and the food is perfect every time. Even my 2 year old enjoys the dishes. Great for all ages.

So the food and drinks were really good, but service was seriously lacking. 3 young inexperienced staff congregating behind the counter chatting whilst our table went uncleared and we had to ask for drinks and our plates to be taken away. Need to pay more attention to customers!

This is a very nice restaurant with good atmosphere. The food is amazing. Beautifully presented and cooked. The £9.95 lunch menu is excellent value with very good portions. The wine list is good and not overpriced. I would definitely recommend and can’t believe I have not eaten here recently!! Will be going again soon.

Having dined in and had takeaway from this restaurant numerous times, this review is long overdue! The food is always delicious and the free prawn crackers upon collection are always appreciated.

This was my first time at this restaurant and the food & service was excellent. We were a group of 5 and had a late Saturday evening booking. We all ordered starters and mains, and everything arrived hot fresh, very tasty quickly. We were the last group to leave, and we were only too happy to thank the staff and the owner for their tremendous hospitality. I will be returning and can highly recommend the Art of Siam

We happened to be in Marple and found this excellent Thai restaurant. Very authentic Thai food - the best we have experienced in UK. Good service and prices too.

I'm not 1 for writing reviews but this place absolutely deserves it, had some hours to kill due to airport visit, and stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant. We arrived late around 9pm and was lovely atmosphere with people dining, we got waited upon quickly from some lovely waiters and owner I believe. We ordered mixed meal siam for 2, was a bit hesitant regarding portion sizes because 2 big hungry lads, but has soon as appetiser was served I couldn't wait for the rest, the appetiser was a soup very very fresh and tasty with surprisingly more than 1 juicy prawn we got 3, then the mixed platter and some dips, yet again all freshly made spring rolls, prawn toast biggest juices I've had , wings glazed in some mouth tingling sauce and something else now sure what but all was the best I've ever tasted. Then the mains, red thai curry, duck, and some massive prawns and rice and omg wow words cannot describe the taste sensations that I experienced absolutely 10/10 with every main, very good sized portions worth every penny, left happy and full just want you want and spending your hard earned money. Thank you and will definitely come again in the future.

The expectation for Thai food is that it will be delicious and so it is here. Service was rapid, friendly and and only left a little to be desired in the presentation of the bill. The food is displayed beautifully. I recommend the place.

Decent food but half the Vegetarian options list fish or molluscs on their allergy list. Therefore not Vegetarian.

Very poor experience. If you are looking for good Thai food then this is not the place to be. Very poor customer care as well, when I suggested that food was poor, their response was only sorry about that.

We visited for the first time on Saturday and the whole group of 6 were all really impressed with the food, great quality all round. Service was a little slow with beers at times but only as they were so busy and was no problem, we'll definitely be back!

After some so-so meals in some Marple restaurants and pubs following lockdown this was really a stand out lunch. Absolutely delicious food, the tastiest meals we have had for quite some time. And so attractively presented on the plate - quite a work of art! This and Kambucha (ex Angor Soul) are the two must-visit dining places in Marple, in our opinion. We will certainly return!

Sadly the take away 'Food platters' were very oily and we couldn't eat them.

We popped into The Art of Siam in Marple recently, and we were pleasantly surprised with the restaurant's authenticity and food. The service was welcoming, and the choices were simple to make from an uncluttered menu. We decided all to go for lunch deal which was reasonably priced. My wife and I had the usual soups as a starter which were flavoursome and filled with succulent chicken. For the main, we had the typical Pad Thai Chicken and Chicken chillies Basil (Pad Kraw) which was thankfully served at just the right amount, so we didn’t need to overeat. All in all, good service, good food at a good price. Very satisfied.

We ate here the evening before the New Year Bank Holiday. They had an unexpectedly busy night for a Sunday and the few staff coped impressively well with the spike in demand. We had the £18pp veggie set menu, and it was sensational!

I had the yellow curry... and it was so delicious let me tell you that was the nicest curry I have ever had in my life. Everything else excellent too and fairly priced. Can’t recommend highly enough (great for my vegan girlfriend too).

I just had the chicken on the bone dish and it was really poor, the chicken wasn't jointed, it was hacked throgh with random bits of broken bone every where and so dry, totally over cooked. Very disappointing. I have had a few meals here that tasted lovely but the meat of really low quality.

Fantastic food, wonderful flavours you should eat here!

Decided to try online takeaway having been to the restaurant some months ago. Online service excellent and we had the delivery service. Efficient process and order was delivered on time and piping hot. Quality of the food was excellent. Five star experience.

Vegetarian set meal was fantastic.

We called on the off chance without booking for a meal before a show. It was early and we were made very welcome. The menu was extensive and everything sounded so good, it was difficult to choose. There was something for everyone including children. My dish earned a WOW and was as good as any I've had in Thailand. It was no problem to provide a little dish of prik-nam-pla (mainly fish sauce, and chilli). I would say the Pad Thai was a little soft and destructured and I have had it like that in Thailand but not to my personal taste, preferring it a little less 'blob' - not a criticism just personal taste. A lovely restaurant, lovely service and a delicious meal. Definitely going back!

Called in at 6pm on Sun evening, there were plenty of tables available. Some prawn crackers arrived immediately and we had a green and red curry with rice which arrived within 10 mins of ordering. The food was excellent value for money, it was tasty with fresh herbs and the service was excellent. We will definitely eat here again if we’re in the area.

We called in on the off chance last Saturday evening without booking and were lucky to get a table, the restaurant was full. A very nice atmosphere with a mix of small and large groups. I can’t fault our meals they were very nice and the service was prompt & friendly. We do enjoy Thai food and have tried other Thai restaurants close by, the Art of Siam menu made a nice change with some dishes that we haven’t tried before. Our only slight criticism is that we seemed a little packed in, a couple we know were also eating here and we thought that they were a table of four but it turned out that the people sat next to them was actually another table.

Ate here at late notice. Great reception from the man looking after front of house. Food was tasty with good menu choices.Service was quick despite the place being full. Duck spring rolls were really good as were all the dishes we had. They lost a point as we had minor issue with our order (forgot one dish) and I noticed same happened to table next to us.Also one of the waitresses looked sad and she really had to force a smile when we all smiled at her.. Maybe she had a bad day !? . Hopefully she will cheer up soon. Thanks for great food though and taking a very short notice booking !

Fantastic family run restaurant. The food is delicious and the prices are great. Shared a banquet and could not fault a single thing. The hand sculpted flowers showed attention to detail to make it a truly authentic Thai experience. The family have years of experience in running restaurants and it shows. Extremely welcoming. People dine early in Marple- the restaurant was busy when we arrived but by 9 was quiet. This place should be packed out all night. It was my third visit and won't be my last. If you haven't been already give it a go you won't regret it.

We came for a meal last night (7th October) and it was our first visit. I am only sorry that I hadn’t eaten here sooner. It was fantastic.It wasn’t very busy and the service was great. The food was excellent t he presentation was just as impressive. I found it really cheap too, 1 starter, 4 mains, 4 beers and 2 wines came to £68. I had the Thai Curry and it was delicious.I don’t have anything negative to say. I just wish I had eaten here sooner. Great menu choices and I can’t wait to go back.

It’s a little while since we have visited the Art of Siam I have to say the food again was excellent. Really enjoyed the sizzling beef would defiantly recommend this dish. It was nice to see the restaurant is still fairly busy early evening.

We have visited a few times and the food and service have always been excellent. They are happy to adapt dishes so that they are vegan, so for example will replace fish sauce with vegan alternatives. Even the 'prawn' crackers are ok! Lovely food, nicely served, in a welcoming atmosphere, so very happy to recommend the Art of Siam.

Came here with my husband, daughter and sister on Tuesday 13th of August and it was delicious. We had the set menu choice for 3 and ordered two separate starter dishes for our daughter. Everything was wonderfully presented and the food came hot and was delicious. Me and my husband are not huge fans of Thai food, possibly put down to the fact when we have had Thai food in the past at other restaurants we didn’t enjoy it but maybe that was down to our choice of dishes we ordered and not in fact the food. Honestly tho can not fault this place, it’s our second time of visiting and we will be returning again. Thank you everyone at Art of Siam for wonderful food and attentive staff.

Absolutely cracking two course meal from the lunch time offer - beats Sunday roast any day. Will definitely be back here for more as this place is now our number one Thai restaurant!
